IPhones screen wearing off. Is it a major issue?

My iPhone 5 warranty is void so I won't be able to repair it for free. The problem is the screen is wearing off slightly from the Middle right, its just slight + in the dark if the phones brightness is high you can see the light emitting from there. Is this a major problem?

To answer your question more directly, no, it's not a  major problem. All it means is your finger prints will show more easily and you'll end up cleaning the screen more often. A dry microfiber cloth works well and no need to buy any solutions.

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • IPhone 5 screen wearing off and battery doesn't work properly.

I've started having this issue almost from the start. It's wearing off from the bottom right side of the phone and even my battery drains faster + the bar shows wrong percentage. My phones warranty is also void now + I couldn't take it to the Apple Store for replacement cause there's no Apple store in my country. anyway my bro is going to Norway after 2weeks so he'll take my phone to the Apple Store to see if they'll fix it for free or replace the device. Do you guys think if they will resolve the issue?
If not i don't think ill buy anything from apple again, my friends also had this problem But if they do resolve it i will be really greatful of them.

First, the phone can only be serviced in the country where it has been bought. And, given the age and use of the phone, it might be time to get the battery replaced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider. If your device is out of warranty, Apple will not replace it for free, you'll have to pay the Out-Of-Warranty-Service fee:

  • IPhone screen goes off.

The screen of iPhone 4s goes off periodically. Only reset helps.

With iTunes on computer, Restore iPhone Firmware, at end when asked, Restore as New. After that, if this problem happens again, iPhone 4S has full Warranty, make appointment with Genius and take iPhone to Apple Store for resolution of this problem.

  • IPhone screen turns off immediately after a message is sent.

I am using an iPhone 5S (Running iOS 7.1.1) and whenever I send a message, as soon as my finger taps send, the "lock shutter" blacks out the screen and then unlocks itself after a few seconds. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hey there 4cpukid,
It sounds like you are experiencing an issue where you tap Send in the Messages app and your phone unexpectedly goes to sleep. I would quit all the running apps on the device first:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that reset the phone and test the issue again:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

  • Iphone 5 acting strange lately.  2 major issues.

Hello all.  First time poster here.
About a year ago I got my first Apple Iphone.  I was an Android proponent prior to that, but had numerous issues with the one application I use the most frequently which is Yahoo Messenger, so I decided to try an iphone5 and see if it would be an improvement.  I use yahoo to speak with a close friend of mine who is overseas, because she refuses to use anything else.  Personally I freaking hate the program, but she is too set in her ways to change.  The iphone has been an improvement over my old droid bionic, but lately it has been getting a little weird.
The primary issue I am having is the fact that yahoo messenger will no longer notify when there is a new message if the screen is closed, either audibly or through vibration.  This means I must actively go into messenger and open my contacts to see if anyone sent me a message, which is unnacceptable.  There has been no update to messenger in what sems like years, and probably is close to it.  Any ideas on what causes that or how to fix it?
The other issue I have had is random screen dimming.  This issue is less frequent, but intensely irritating.  Basically, the phone will suddenly decide that the only appropriate screen brightness is full dim, and the only way to fix it is to go into the settings and move the brightness slider.  Even rebooting the phone will not correct the issue.  The slider will actually show in the exact position where you left it, but the instant you touch it the brightness returns to normal.  Of course when it is bright outside, you cannot actually see anything on the screen to find the settings, and this problem seems to occur most frequently when using navigation on a bright sunny day, rendering the phone and navigation useless until you find a place to pull over and fumble with the phone long enough to fix it.  It got me lost in NYC traffic on a recent trip, and cost me over 45 minutes worth of detours etc.  I nearly threw the **** phone out the window permanently, and nearby sailors were swooning in disbelief at my language on that day.
Any pointers on how to address this situation folks?
    V/R
    Alan

    Try this:
Go into a dimly lit or dark room.
Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Tap on Brightness & Wallpaper.
Turn the auto-brightness setting to Off.
Adjust the brightness slider to the level you would like your screen brightness to be at in the given environment. For instance, if you're in a completely dark room, you'll probably want to put the slider all the way to low or pretty close to all the way down.
Turn the auto-brightness setting to On again.
Now flip on a light switch.
Watch the brightness slider move upwards to adjust to the new light entering the sensor.
As long as the brightness slider is moving on its own, you have successfully re-calibrated the sensor and it should work properly from here on out.

  • IPhone Screen Turns of Randomly

Sometimes when I am in the middle of something the iPhone screen turns off by it self, when I press the power button to turn it back on, the screen flashes a black screen and I have to lock and unlock it again.
If anyone has an idea why please help. Thank You.

  • Anti-reflective coating on iPhone camera lense wearing off

In the past few days, I've noticed that the anti-reflective coating on my iPhone lense has begun to wear off in blotches, producing a "rainbow" effect when observed in the proper room lighting. I purchased this phone on June 30, keep it stored in a Marware Sportsuit case that completely envelopes the device, and only use iKlear to clean the device every few days.
Although this doesn't seem to affect photos shot from indoors, it does seem to be producing funny lighting "spots" when shooting outdoors.
I'm curious to know who else out there is noticing this with their iPhone and, if so and you've contacted Apple for assistance, what sort of response did you receive? Was it handled under AppleCare, did you have to send it in or was a replacement provided in-store, etc?
    TIA

Yesterday I made an appt with a genius and we compared my camera with his. Pointed them both side by side at the overhead lights in the Apple Store. We could plainly see the haze on my phone most pronounced on the illuminated signs that say 'Kids', 'Peripherals' or whatever.
The genius said it would have to be sent for repair or replacement - he wasn't sure of course whether they would actually replace the lens or just send me a new iPhone. I'm guessing they'll just send me a new one though b/c it would seem pretty crazy for them to actually repair it. I haven't looked at disassembly photos of the iPhone but maybe the lens cover is part of the back metallic case cover and can be easily swapped out?
Either way I'm sure they'll take care of it. I did get a loaner iPhone and had some minor issues getting that going but that's another story.
Another note - while waiting in the store I checked out another customer's iPhone that was bringing his in for some other problem looked at his lens and it had spots on it that wouldn't come off as well.
While I have the loaner I'm going to experiment with applying some sort of screen protector material to cover the lens so I'm ready to preserve mine when it comes back!

Last night my iphone screen all of a sudden was solid blue and now it is black. I tried turning it on and off.  Still nothing appeared on the screen.  I put it on the charger and this morning it is totally black.  However, when I hit the on and off button, I did hear the text message signal go off. When I turned the volume on and off a big white bell flashed.  In the last week, there were some other display problems such as the screen blowing up large. The only way to fix it was to turn off the phone and then turn it back on.
What does all of this mean? It seems like I've had these problems since the iphone 4 upgrade.

just do reset, press home button and power butoon for a while untill you can see apple
    gud luck

  • Iphone 5 screen goes off...

My iphone 5 with 64GB storage has recently upgraded to iOS 8.1. But since today morning, I notice that the screen goes off quite frequently  while I am on a call with someone. The blank screen has to be swiped multiple times to get baBut once call is over, screen seems to be in normal mode. Any clues please ?

Did you happen to restore your iPhone 5 from a backup when you first bought it? Often, data from older phones/iOS's will sometimes not transfer across correctly, causing issues like this. The best thing to do is to put the iPhone into recovery mode and restore as new to test it then
    Instructions on recovery mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    Instructions on restoring as new:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If when restored as new, and the issue still occurs, then your iPhone is faulty, so take it back to where you bought it from and get it replaced.
If it works no problem after restoring as new, manually transfer your information back onto the iPhone

  • My screen shut off but my iPhone is still on. What can I do?

My screen shut off but my iPhone is still on. What can I do?????????

Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
