IPhont to iPad App sync

If I bought an iPhone App then I would like to sync it to my iPad. But the iPad has a specific version for it would I need to pay a again or I can get the iPad version for free

Good question.
You can use the iPhone version of the app free of charge on your iPad.  But it will be in a somewhat smaller window than your iPad could support.
If you paid and got the iPad version, it might have some more features customized for iPad.  It would very likely show up in a larger window.
But purchasing the iPad app is definitely not required.  You could use the iPhone version on your iPad.

Before I got my iPad 2 I went into iTunes and downloaded a lot of apps. When my iPad arrived I synced it. Since then I have deleted many of these apps but they're still in my iTunes. How do I get my iTunes and iPad synchronized without all of those old apps going back on my iPad? Thanks...

  • Need help with iPad app syncing in iTunes

When I first connect iPad to iTunes, and select apps, all the apps on iPad display, but they are semi-transparent.
When I uncheck sync, then only the apps that were installed originally show up, and are 'solid'.
When I try to sync apps on my iPad, it shows these 'solid' icons only (less apps in iTunes than I have on the iPad) and warns I will lose apps not shown if I sync?!   That sounds more like a revert than a sync.  I do not want to revert, I want iTunes to update itself to show the list of apps I have purchased on the iPad.
Anyone know how to get iTunes to show the apps I have on the iPad and let me sync them all to iTunes without losing what I purchased on the App Store through iPad?

    How could we help you?
You did not even mention the name of the app.
Contact the app maker and ask.

  • IPad Apps Sync

I have synced my iPad 3 several times with the Sync Apps box unchecked.  Now if I try to check the box and sync my apps, iTunes shows I only have the default apps on there.  Is there any way to get it to recognize all the apps I already have on there (many of which are already in iTunes) and all my folders I have set up?  Or do I have to sift through all the apps and reorganize everything again?  And if I do go through and check all the boxes for the apps I want synced, will I lose data for those apps when it re-syncs?

    Anyone?  Bueller?

  • IPad App Syncing Help

Okay. When I plug my mini into to my computer my iOS apps are transferred to my computer. I don't want this. My phone doesn't do this so I am curious as to why my iPad is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a know current problem (take a look at some of the other posts for just today). Until Apple fixes it, there is nothing you can do.

  • ITunes insists on rearranging my iPad apps, even with 'Sync apps' unchecked

Here's an issue which I've noticed crop up on a few other forums, but which there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer for.  I'm hoping that one of the veterens on this forum might have come across it and figured out a fix...
Since iCloud launched, I've not had any need to use iTunes for any app, music, video, podcast or book syncing. I have automatic downloading enabled on both my iPad and iPhone, and that's worked very well.  Download something on one device, and it appears on the other. Wireless backup to iCloud too. All good.
There's just one thing I do still rely on iTunes for - and that's syncing photo albums and events created on my Mac in iPhoto to my iPad.  I'm hopeful that at some point Apple will enable iCloud syncing for iPhoto albums (especially seeing as iPhoto is now available for iOS), but for now I'm stuck with using iTunes to move new albums and events to my iPad.
Here's the thing. Given I have automatic iCloud downloading enabled for pretty much everything, I have the following sync options turned off in iTunes:
    Info
    Apps
    Tones
    Music
    Movies
    TV Shows
    Podcasts
    Books
The only item that is checked is Photos.
So once I'm ready to sync a newly created iPhoto album or event to my iPad, I fire up iTunes, select my iPad in the devices list, make sure that the new album/event is checked under the Photos tab, make absolutely sure all other sync options are unchecked, then I hit the sync button.
And about half the time, this will go well.  And the other half... well, disaster. iTunes will decide that it doesn't like my iPad apps arranged in the order I have them, and will rip them from their folders and scatter them across a ton of homescreens. The result is about an hours worth of work to get them all back in place again, just so I can enjoy having my latest photo album on my iPad.
I can't figure out why this happens.  When I have app syncing unchecked, I'm specifically telling iTunes to leave my apps well alone.  I have no interest in syncing apps to/from iTunes and my iPad. iCloud takes care of this for me now, and I have no reason to even have a copy of an app on my Mac. I can't do anything with it once it's on there.
Has anyone come up against this issue and found a fix?
Alternatively, and perhaps preferably, is there another way to move albums and events created in iPhoto to my iPad, without using iTunes? I know iTunes wants to be the be-all-and-end-all of syncing beasts, but now I have iCloud I have no use for it aside from photo syncing.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help here!

I'm starting to think that the lack of replies is due to the fact that nobody actually knows why this behaviour is, including Apple themselves.

  • All my apps (even App Store!) disappeared (iPad 1 upgrade to ios5).  Most apps show up on laptop but app sync is greyed (no restrictions). I have 2 accounts due to apple email req, but I've loaded apps between my iPhone and iPad before.  iPad now zero.

I postponed upgrading my iPad 1 because iTunes told me it wasn't homed on my computer.  I tried it on my other computers, all with the same message.  I finally upgraded it from my MacBook after appearing to sync the apps.  When it finished (5.01), all of my apps and data were gone, as well as several stock apps including the App Store itself (although it appears in settings).  Since what seems to be all of my apps (iPad and iPhone) appear in iTunes on my Windows portable, I tried resyncing the iPad there (as its new home).  Restrictions are off, there is plenty of memory, but the app sync screen and app list are greyed out.  Nothing will download to my iPad.
My original Apple account is under my name.  However, I had to create a second account at some point in the past due to Apple's requirement that the name be an email address, which is my name (identical) at mac.com.  Since both are in my name, it didn't originally occur to me that Apple would consider them as different accounts.  This may have a bearing on what is going on, but I don't think so since I have exchanged apps between iPad and iPhone before.  To check whether this might be related, I tried to change the account name on the iPad (removing @mac.com).  I received a message that if I did so I would have to wait for 90 days to download my apps, which is not satisfactory since my grandchildren and I use the iPad regularly.  And I need it for work.
I'm assuming that if I could reactivate the App Store I could redownload my purchased apps.  Better yet would be merging both "accounts" into one, if that is the source of the issue.  I appreciate your help and suggestions.
    Steve

All I had to do was complain.  I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store.  I have no idea why.

  • Hi, I upgraded my girlfriend's iPad 2 using my iMac, however, her iPad was sync with her PC. Although I've made backup earlier, when I restore from backup the apps doesn't sync back, neither her documents on pages. How can I put then back to her iPad?

The backup saves many settings, but it copies photos and other files from the computer back to the iPad after IOS5 wipes the disk.   Plugging it into her computer will re-sync it.

Instructions on syncing your iPad can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12311
and in the accompanying documents linked from that page. Syncing your iPad with iTunes copies items, it doesn't move them. The only way apps would be actually removed from your iPad during syncing is if you had iTunes set to remove them on syncing, so check the appropriate settings in iTunes, set the book to sync as well, and then sync the iPad again.
    Regards.

  • Syncing iPad apps to iTunes

Recently, I have had a few issues updating a few apps on my iPad and I receive a message saying they will be downloaded when synced to my computer.
Now when I try to sync, I get a message asking if I'm sure and all apps will be overwritten to reflect my iTunes library. Only issue is I never synced to my iTunes library and there aren't any apps on there. The last thing I want is to have all of my apps vanish only because I'm trying to update one app.
Is there any way to have my iTunes library reflect exactly what I already have on my iPad rather than the iPad reflecting the library?

Well I guess that solved part of the problem. Now when I go to the apps tab under my iPad, the "sync apps" box is un-checked. I see all of my apps in there but once I check the box, I see the apps in the springboard thumbnail area, but none of them are in folders like I have them on my iPad. Instead, the icons are in alphabetical order without folders.
I just want to be 100% certain my iPad isn't going to change after I sync.
    Thanks

  • Trying to update ipad but syncs all the iphone apps over?

Hi there trying to update my ipad but when syncing it syncs over all iphone apps how can i disable this to only update the ipad apps?

With the iPad connected and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, you can use the Apps tab on the right-hand side to select which apps to sync to the iPad - there isn't a setting on that tab to say only sync iPad apps, but there is a tickbox (under the list of apps) for whether or not to automatically sync all new apps.

  • Sync only iPad apps to iPad ?

    Hello,
I have over 400 iPhone apps in my iTunes apps Library.
When I plug in my iPad, it wants to sync to the Library. However if I click Sync Apps - it selects all 400 of these apps, and would install them on the iPad if I let it. There appears to be no way to "Select All" or "UnSelect All" so it would appear the only way to not sync the iPhone apps to the iPad would be to individually click off each of the 400 apps tick boxes?
    This is sheer madness!
There must be an "un-select" all option?
I only need to enable 5 or so iPad apps on this iPad.
    Thanks
    Paul

After you connect the iPad, check the Sync Apps box ONCE and wait. Wait. Wait. Apparently it takes awhile for iTunes to import or discover all the apps. (Mine were all checked to begiu with, and grayed out.) If you have lots of apps, it will take awhile. Finally, the Apps display un-grayed, though all apps were still checked. Then, I checked the Synch box (it worked!) and unchecked all the apps except those I wanted synced to my iPad. All works fine now. This takes patience and time, which we're not used to on a PC. If something doesn't happen right away, I tend to click, click, click, end task, relauch, etc., thinking there is a problem. Just imagine the old Hour Glass up there for 10-20 minutes (the more apps the longer!) ... the first time only. This worked for me and hope it helps others.

  • My iPad just synced and deleted all my aps. Lost about $60.00 worth! Even the backup doesn't recover! Have I lost all my purchased apps?

My ipad just synced and I lost all my paid apps, about $60.00 worth. I just reinstalled my OS Windows 7 a week ago and the iPad has synced before with no problem. Have I lost all my purchases?

If you are a resident of the U.S. and install iTunes 10.3.1  or higher, you can re download your iTunes media without being charged again.

You should change your AppleID password NOW. And if it says it was registered under another AppleID, the thief has probably done it.
