Iphot 2.0 require newer version....

hi
I currently have iphoto 2, is it possible to download a newer version?
thanks
sophie

Sophie
iPhoto 2 was the last free iPhoto. There is an update online for iPhoto 2.01. Open iPhoto, go to the menu (iPhoto>About iPhoto). This will tell you if you have already been updated to 2.0.1
After iPhoto 2 you have to buy iLife or a new computer that comes with it,
The downloads available online are updates that can only be used by those folks who have the newer versions on their computer.

  • Just got an ipod touch software version 2.2.1 and everytime I download an app get error message requires newer version of software.  Did all updates, and same.

Keep getting error message require newer version of iPod software to install apps on ipod touch v2.2.1.  Is there a version limitation for using apps with the iPod touch?  Loaded the latest updates etc.

I sounds like yu have a first generation (1G) iPod.  You can update that as far as iOS 3.1.3.  To get that update go here. You may have to use a different browser to get the sublink to work correctly.

  • ITunes requires new version of Apple Mobile Device Support....

Hi - I have just bought an iPod touch. I a;ready have a classic and a nano but as iTunes 9 was out I thought I'd upgrade to that before syncing the new Touch. However now I get the error:-
iTunes requires new version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes agan.
So I did this following the procedure on the Apple Suport pages which referenced exactly this error message but from an earlier version (7 I think) of iTunes).
Basically, I used control panel to uninstall all the bits (including iTunes, Apple MDS, Quicktime and Bonjour) in the order it says. Rebooted, checked that program folders and files had really gone, downloaded a fresh copy of iTunes and installed - exactly the same error.
My Classic syncs fine. The Touch also syncs fine on a laptop I have on which I have iTunes 9.01 at the moment. The Touch is being detected because I get the USB conect sound and the error message in iTunes pops up as soon as it is connected.
The Apple Mobile Device Service is running (it was not running when I checked staright after the install, but I manually started it (it is set ot Auto start)) using .exe version 2.12.36.0
PC is a Windows Vista 64 running iTunes 9.02. The iTunes pack I downloaded was called iTunes64Setup so I'm guessing its the right one.
I always seem to be tearing my hair out when I get a new iPod or new iTunes. Not much left now so has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks very much,
    Stuart

Found the solution in my case. I followed the Apple uninstall procedure again:-
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
and found that the Apple Mobile Device Support did not uninstall properly. I needed to download an MS utility called Windows Installer Cleaup Utility
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
(there was a post somewhere on here about it so thanks to that person).
When I rebooted, I found however that the Mobile Device Service was still installed and running and the installed files were present in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple.
So I Stopped the service (Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, Right click on the service and choose Properties, then click Stop. For good measure I also set it to Disabled (overkill) using the dropdown which will probably say Automatic when you look at it.
Then I found a Microsoft utility called SC.exe which is available in the Windows resource kit and can also be found here:-
    http://www.petri.co.il/downloadfree_reskittools.htm
This is a command line tool, but easy to use. Unzip the sc.zip file, place sc.exe somewhere handy where you can find it from a command prompt and then open a command line (Start, Run..., type "cmd" Enter). Go to the folder where you put sc.exe and type the command:-
sc delete "Apple Mobile Device" (you need the quotes).
This deletes the service from the services list in the registry (you can check by closing the Services box and opening it again).
Now go to c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files and delete the folder and subfolders called Apple.
OK - should have given your system a full clean out.
    Then reinstall iTunes.
That was easy - but I guess I can forgive Apple for not being able to upgrade a version of iTunes without messing up - it's only version 9.0 after all, I'm sure it'll be OK in the next release. Seems like they're learning some tricks from Microsoft.
You folks in the US and Canada are luck however because you can get some help with this stuff. There's no help from Apple if you're in the UK.

  • Itunes requires newer version of apple mobile device

I keep getting "Itunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please unistall itunes and AMDS and install again"
I have done this a number of times and it makes no difference. It started this about 4 months ago and I managed to find a download for a older version of itunes that worked and used old libraries. I tried today with the new verson and same thing. Unfortunately I have also managed to mess up my old libraries and cannot get the older verion to read my older libraries now.
The new verson is now giving me "the procdure entry point_obj_load_image could not be located in the dynmaic link library objc.dll." and then proceeds to lock up and I have to kill itunes thru task manager.

Itunes doesnt lock up anymore either (so far) so I can just click ok on the msg and continue.
When I plug my phone it then gives me the "requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device support..."
    Okay.
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?
If instead you get another error message during the repair install (or uninstall/reinstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Install of "Movies" on ITouch requires newer version of Ipod software

I'm trying to install "MOVIES" v2.3.4 on my ITOUCH version 3.1.3 (7E18). I get the error message when it tries to sync "App movies not installed on Ipod Itouch because it requires a newer version of Ipod software.
I thought version 3.1.3 is the newest version.

The newest version of the iOS for the iPod is iOS 4.2.1. You need iTunes 10.1 or later for the Check for iOS Update in iTunes find the update.
You profile says you have a 3G iPod which can be updated to iOS 4.2.1. However, are you sure you have a 3G (or 2G) iPod? The 1G iPods can only be updated to 3.1.3. To identify you iPod go to:

  • Installing ODBC requires newer version of the Univeral Installer

Hi, I need to install a newer ODBC driver for 3rd part software to connect to our new UTF-8 version of the database. I downloaded the version of ODBC I need, but when I try to install it I get an error saying I need a newer version of the Universal Installer. I've looked all over the site and cant' find a place I can just download a new version of the OUI. Any suggestions?

What version of the Oracle client are you using and what version of the Oracle ODBC driver are you trying to use?
I expect that the problem you're having is that Oracle changed the way that ODBC driver updates are packaged a couple years ago. Rather than being separate downloads, they included the ODBC driver updates in the Oracle client patchsets you can download from Metalink. That simplified life in that organizations that apply the full client patchset didn't have to separately install the ODBC driver updates. It complicated life in that if a client patchset updates the version of the OUI that is installed, the stand-alone install you can download from OTN requires the patched OUI which you only get by installing the client patchset from Metalink or getting a later version of Oracle that happens to include the later version of the OUI. Assuming your organization has a valid support contract, getting the client patchset from Metalink is most likely the way to go.

  • Requires newer version of Mobile Device Support?

I just received an iPod touch and when trying to hook it up to my computer, I found that it is not recognized by iTunes. Whenever I plug in the iPod, I get a message reading "iTunes requires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
What is really upsetting is that I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of iTunes several times. I have made sure that all of my computer's specs meet the requirements and the AMDS is running according to Services. My driver, however, is not recognized in the Devices menu?
I am really upset with Apple at this point. The iPod touch seems to work fine with Macs, but are a pain in the neck for PCs. I'm starting to think I should just return this stupid thing!!

  • ITunes requires newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support

iTunes keeps giving me this error and tells me I need to uninstall the Mobile Device Support and iTunes and reintall iTunes. I've done this several times and it keeps giving me this error. I even uninstalled all of the Apple software off of my computer and still no luck. Running Windows 7 with the 64-bit version of iTunes.

Interesting. iTunesHelper missing from MSConfig can indicate that your current version of Apple Application Support didn't install properly either.
Given that there's indications of multiple troubles with the iTunes installer bundle, I think we'd better try (going forwards) a straightforward complete uninstall and reinstall of iTunes.
We'll use the following document as a guide, with an amendment:
[Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923]
... the amendment (because you have a 64-bit system, and the instructions aren't precisely correct for 64-bit systems, last time I checked), is that when you get to *step 9* of the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, you should use instead the following set of steps:
    (9) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Note: If you have a 64-bit version of the Windows OS, continue with step #10. Otherwise, skip to step #17.
    (10) Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
    (11) Right-click the iTunes folder (if it still exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (12) Right-click the iPod folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (13) Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (14) Right-click the Bonjour folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (15) Open the Common Files folder.
    (16) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (17) Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on.
    (18) Open the Windows folder.
    (19) For 32-bit versions of Windows: Open the System32 folder.
For 64-bit versions of Windows: Open the Syswow64 folder.
    (20) Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (21) Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (22) Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
If you get any error messages on the uninstalls, post back to let us know what the error messages were (precise text please), prior to doing the iTunes reinstall. (In particular, let us know if you're getting any messages during the AMDS uninstall.)

    Hi Satish,
I've just tried to use the updated code you've added to the Wiki and it doesn't appear to be syntactically correct.
There are two problems I can see - it looks like the Wiki software has corrupted a lot of the code with "Unknown Macro :" added all over the place as well as some special characters being replaced, and some of the lines of code appear to be incomplete.
Could you please have a look at it and correct so that it works as it's useless at the moment?
    Thanks,
    Gareth.

    Hi,
You may need to design the site again in older version OR may be copy and paste in place from new to old except what is new in the latest version.
    Hope that helps!

Hello everybody, Im trying to update my ITunes on my MAC (laptop) to the newer version so I can then be able to update the latest updates for my Iphone-3G. I don’t require a complete reinstall just need to be able to update my itunes.
What I have tried so far is I had my MAC search for update’s and it said that I should update to (ITunes version  10 . 6 . 3 ) So I asked it to do the update but after 2hrs of waiting for it to download/update it then puts up a message saying the following- (In order to continue installation, please close the following application: ITunes).
When I tried to do this another message comes up that says- (The update ITunes can’t be installed. The following install step failed: run preupgrade script for Apple mobile device support. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.)
I have also tried to run the update while having closed ITunes before I even start the update but the same problem happens after waiting about 2hrs.
Some one that had the same problem said this might be happening in the older operating systems. But that does not make sense because surely Apple want customers who own a MAC and i-phone to still buy from iTunes.
My MAC is about 4-5years old. I have a i-phone.3G,
Can anybody help me please and Thank you?

Download iTunes using the tab at the top of this page. Then run the update with iTunes closed.
