IPhoto '06 - '08 Import Issues: Album Names Not Imported; Grouped by Date
I imagine my circumstances aren't uncommon... After a clean install of Leopard and iLife '08 on my MacBook, I wanted to import my iPhoto '06 library into iPhoto '08. I had archived on an external hard drive the iPhoto Pictures directory from iPhoto '06 (the directory from ~user/Documents/Pictures/iPhoto Pictures/).
Using the File>Import to Library function in iPhoto '08 and selecting the iPhoto '06 library resulted in all of the pictures coming in, *but they weren't organized in the albums I created in iPhoto '06*. Instead, all pictures were organized into groups by date.
What in the ham sandwich is the proper way to import an iPhoto '06 library so that all of the old album names and organization is maintained in iPhoto '08?

Many thanks for the advice. I found one other thing that I wanted to ask about before giving this a whirl.
I noticed that the iPhoto Library in '08 is in fact a package, not a directory. Given that, there are two possible courses of action, and I wanted to know which was best.
1. Delete the iPhoto '08 "iPhoto Library" package and replace it with the '06 "iPhoto Library" directory.
2. Replace the contents of the '08 "iPhoto Library" package with the contents of the '06 "iPhoto Library" directory?
I was uncertain about option 1, as I didn't know how getting rid of the package would affect the application (or if it's needed).

Yes, the error message is exactly like that ("Database error: failured to persist version")
No photos will import at all. I use USB to import from iPhone 5s or iPad 2.
About the difference? iPhoto and Photos . Are there two softwares?
I also will like to merge and/or synchronize all my photos I had saved to iCloud backups, Macbook Pro, iPhone 5s and iPad hard drives using iPhoto. It's call iPhoto library. At one point I turned off streaming.

How can I get itunes to store my computer music files by album name not by artist? It's a pain retreving a stored album from my external drive.
Are you sure to have the full length file in the library? If you start playing it, will it show the full runtime on the controls?

When am uploading the XML files manually its working fine in /TDAG/CPM00.
The same when we are uploading the XML files thru basis program IPC (XML) Documents into SAP , its not working .In XMl file it showing its complaint the same time compliance workbench complaint statues it showing empty .

hi can I have a reply to above question: I just upgraded my old versionj 3 of photoshop elements to v13 when I import photos they are not imported in the same order they are mixeds up
In the documents screen - sorry, new to this so not sure if that's the right terminology... Basically the screen showing all documents, if you drag down, there should be two options at the of of the page: Date and Name. Select Name and your list should now be in alphabetic order.

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30) or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.

File name not importing into iPhoto
I keep my photos on an external disk and import them from that disk into iPhoto. When I import, sometimes the file name is imported into the caption field and sometimes it does not.
Any ideas why? I have search for others posts but can't find any. I did check the permissions of the files representing both results and the permissions are the same.What is displayed in the title field under the thumbnails?
Have you tried selecting the offending photos, going to the Photos->Batch Change menu and selecting Title to File Name option?

Iphoto albums did not import to photos app
I updated to OS X 10.10.3 as suggested. This replaces iPhoto with the Photos app. The Photos app said it was adapting my iPhoto library to Photos. I have 15,700 photos. The process was very slow so I left it running.
When I returned several hours later, the Photos app was open but had no library. I was offered the 4 basic options including import. When trying to import photos, the finder window showed the old iPhoto library, but it was greyed out. How do I get my 15,700 iPhoto images into Photos?Don't use the import panel, switch to your iPhoto Library.
Either drag the iPhoto Library to the Photos icon in the Dock,
or quit Photos, then hold down the alt/options key while double clicking the Photos icon in the Dock. Select the iPhoto Library from the Library chooser panel.
Photos should have migrated your library automatically, Either it did not migrate the correct library, because your iPhoto Library could not be found or opened, or your iPhoto Library has a corruption.
Where is your iPhoto Library stored? In the default location, your Pictures folder, or on an external drive? If external drive, is the filesystem correct (MacOS Extended (Journaled)) or do you keep the library in a partition that is formatted for Windows? Is the drive locally mounted or a network volume? -
One album will not import to authorized computer
I have a Macbook and an iMac. Both are set up to share, both are authorized in iTunes under the Apple ID I've had for years. I make all purchases on the Macbook. Then I copy them over to my iMac by selecting the Macbook under "Shared," choosing "Show: items not in my library," and importing those songs to the iMac. I copy all purchases onto the iMac so I can delete rarely-listened-to songs/albums from the Macbook when space gets low, which is often.
There is one album that the iMac will not let me import. For each song from that one album, I get an error saying there's a problem downloading it, because "You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation. Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
The crazy thing is, my network connection is just fine; albums I purchased minutes before and after this one copied over fine. It's just this specific album that will not import. The summary pane for each of the album's songs look the same as all my other files: purchased AAC audio files, same bit rate, same sample rate, shows my name and Apple ID as the purchaser, same directory location on my computer, all files have the .m4a extension, ... nothing at all seems strange or unusual about this album's files.
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening and how to fix it? In the past month, I've imported close to 12,000 songs. This is the only album this has ever happened with.
P.S. If anyone's curious which album won't transfer, it's Beck's Sea Change, purchased October 2nd, 2012. Oddly enough, I originally purchased this album (from iTunes) in 2008, but in 2009 iTunes began saying it couldn't locate the files. I didn't delete them — they just up and disappeared. That's never happened with anything else before or since, either. It's as if there's something wrong with the files of this particular digital album.Hello welcome to apple discussions,
Itunes does tend to "Mess Up" sometimes when Importing/adding by folder. what you first need to do is try adding each file by going to File>Add FILE to library in iTunes.
If you do this and get no error message or anything but the one file you just tried to add does not show in iTUnes, its one or the other, Either the tags are corrupt or the song itself is corrupt. iTunes tends to be more "Picky" on windows then other windows based programs.
You can test the tag issue by searching google or yahoo for a program called "TidyMP3". Just pick one song that will not go into iTUnes, use Tidy MP3 to "Strip" the ID3 tag off this test song and then try to add it to iTUnes. If it goes in you now know the issue and can use this program to strip all tags off your "Problem" MP3s.
If it doesn't theres something wrong with the song itself. I covered a similar issue before where the person had the songs in iTUnes but it wouldn't play because the song was corrupt and they seemed to come accross great programs for fixing this so heres the link to that post, you can overlook it and follow the links they provide http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2487497#2487497 -
Organizing by Album Name, Not Year?
Hi, I'm a newly converted Mac user. Everything has been fabulous so far, and I'm overall very happy with iLife.
There's one thing that annoys me about iPhoto, though. That is the fact that, after I import my photos, iPhoto automatically sorts them by year. Is there any way to change this, so that it sorts by the album name, rather than the year? I find it very hard to navigate through the years.
Also, is there a way to create an album within an album? Much of my photo collection is sorted with folders (for example, "Holidays"). "Holidays" has some random pictures in it, as well as more folders, like "Christmas Cruise" or "Spring Break Miami." I want to preserve the organizational architecture of my photo collection. I know that in iPhoto you can create a folder and put albums inside, but from what I remember you can't put pictures in the original folder, only the albums. So is there any way to maintain the structure of my collection?

You can change how photos are sorted simply by going to the Vuew menu -> Sort Photos, and see the options there.
You can't really create an album "within and album" but you can achieve an enormous amount using keywords. In this case assign a keyword 'Holiday' and 'Christmas' to a pic. Now using 'Create a New Smart Album' you can create albums that use both keywords, or one, or one without the other etc. Keywording is really very powerful and well worth using.

I have gigs of wma files on my PC that have the album art associated. When I convert the files in Itumes it does not pick up the album art. I can manually copy the album art after the conversion, but is there a way it should just copy over?
Also if I use a CD and import directly from it, Itunes also does not get any album art from the CD. (the same CD will bring over album art in Windows Media Player). What is necessary to make ITunes see/find/copy the album art?
ThanksSo are you saying that ITunes does not import the artwork of any CDs that you rip (your own CD collection). So in order to get my 400 plus CDs into my IPOD with artwork I would have to manually find the files on line and paste into the Get Info. All this no matter what setting or file format?

Thanks for the help, but i am not looking for additional software tools have to manage the artwork seperately, I would expect that Itunes can copy the artwork during the rip just like Windows Media Player does. Doesn't seem like a far out expectation.
You can have all the expectations in the world. Doesn't change the facts of the matter.
Windows Media Player gets the album artwork because Microsoft went to a lot of trouble and set up a deal with AMG specifically to be able to use their datasets for importing and other such stuff. It goes to the internet and retrieves info from windowsmedia.com, which is a Microsoft webserver hooked to AMG's database, essentially.
Apple went with Gracenote instead, which has a much more limited amount of data (which they stole from the rightful owners of that information in the formation of the company).
Short of it is that iTunes does not automatically get album art from anywhere. iTunes can't even get track names unless you specifically use iTunes to rip the CD. If you rip the CD elsewhere, import it into iTunes, iTunes can't go lookup the track info on Gracenote. WMP can do that just fine.
In many ways, Windows Media Player is far superior to iTunes. Don't act so shocked.
If you must use iTunes, I highly suggest getting a program called Tag&Rename. It will let you lookup albums after ripping them and it will get the album art from Amazon. Tag&Rename will then allow you to add the art to the files in a way that is fully compatible with iTunes. It works pretty well. -

Cannot import photos; albums do not exist after creation and
Using iPhoto '11 - When I create albums and then shut down iPhoto and reopen, the album no longer exists. Also when trying to import photos via firewire, iPhoto displays message that an import is already taking place and I must wait for it to be completed.
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Import issue - folders view not refreshing

I have a peculiar issue, a disk which I process some images on was recently rebuilt and in Aperture it still shows the old disk folder structure. The disk is a RAID array and I can't figure out why the old folders still show. The main issue is that new folders I have created are not visible.
Any ideas?Aperture shows what I would call disk folder structure, I press import icon or shortcut to import, a pane opens with source disks I can select from, which I navigate through. The data held there is not correct, it seems to have held onto disks that I no longer have attached and within disks it holds onto old folders, which don't exist anymore. This only started happening after the 1.5 upgrade, so there must be some cache somewhere not being emptied.

PSE10 won't boot/open. Part way thru the process the screen goes light gray and a box comes up saying there is a problem and I have 2 choices. 1) solve the problem online and close the program or 2) close the program. What do i need to do?
