IPhoto '08 (7.1.4) Can suddenly only see photos from latest import?

Hopefully someone can help with this problem! I suddenly cannot see all my pictures in iPhoto only pictures from my latest import. All other events have black thumbnails and the pictures are not displayed when opening the event.
The last import was from my camera, which I always use, but iPhoto reported some problems during import. Not all pictures could be imported and I don’t know why. After this I suddenly could not see any pictures as explained.

and doing a rebuild of the database but it doesn’t bring back my pictures?
I have been reading about some similar problems with earlier versions of iPhoto and some missing ColorSync Profiles, but I cannot understand if/why this suddenly could be an issue/problem for me in this case.

What's happened is that your database has been damaged. Have you had a crash or force quit recently?

To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

IPhoto crashes at random, always deletes all photos from latest import

Can anyone help? It can crash when doing anything - editing photos, looking through them, or when I've just finished an import. Whenever it does this, when I re-open iPhoto, the name of the last event I last imported is still there, but is always empty. I have to rebuild my library every time this happens, and it's getting pretty annoying. Thanks to anyone who has a clue what's going on!

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Can no longer see photos from my library

I wanted to point iPhoto to a different (older) library and this is what I did:
I renamed the "iPhoto library" folder to "iPhoto library_new" (because these are newer pictures) and then I moved the older library folder into "Pictures" and renamed it "iPhoto library". When I opened iPhoto, however, there were no photos at all.
Ok, so reversed the whole process, moved the library with the older photos out of "Pictures" and named "iPhoto library_new" back to "iPhoto library".
However, when I now open iPhoto, it still is empty. I know that all the photos are still in the library and I haven't changed anything else other than the library folder name.
Why doesn't iPhoto "see" my pictures in the "iPhoto library" folder anymore?

Name both libraries "iPhoto Library" but, of course, keep them in different locations. Hold down the option key while opening iPhoto and select one of the libraries. Quit iPhoto and follow the instructions in:

Iphoto photoshop brousing -can only see photos in iphoto albums not in pict

Why can I only see photos in albums and not in the general area of iphoto? In the finder it seems like there are no photos in the folders.
This started with my new camera a Canon A610 my older photos are there in any type of search. What can I do to make the Canon pictures show up in library. I am worried that the pictures are not there on my back up harddrive.

Mediabrowser only show photos from Photo Booth

The media browser works OK for audio and movies but not for photos.
I can only see photos from Photo Booth but not from iPhoto or Apperture and I can not add Photofolders from the Finder.

Without knowing the answer I will suggest that you trash the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist residing in your name > Library > Preferences. Start Pages again and see it it works now.
You can create a new user account in which you try Pages and se if it works there. If it doesn't it is probably a problem with Pages and it should be reinstalled.

You can't. iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.

Hi, I can't download my photos from my camera into iPhoto! A few months ago I bought iPhoto 9.1.1 (on it's own from iTunes) and it's been working fine till now. When I plug in the camera (Lumix LX3) the flying pizza starts and eventually I have to turn off the camera and force quit iPhoto. I don't think it can be a camera problem as I have successfully dowloaded same photos from same camera onto my laptop (with older version of iPhoto) and it works perfectly. Please help me - what am I doing wrong? Also, is there a limit to the amount of photos i can keep in iPhoto? I have quite a lot, and wonder if it simply is full up and cannot take any more? Thanks! To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

Photos is the app in Yosemite that replaces iPhoto.
If iPhoto fails to work with iOS 8 try opening Image Capture on your Mac, that should at least allow you to import into a folder for dragging to iPhoto.
I don't have a device with iOS8 to test, so try iPhoto if you have it available - it may still work on Mavericks. iTunes may also still take photos from iPhoto & sync them to the device.

If you set PSE as external editor, be sure you pick the right file, which is not by any means the logical choice. You want this one:
You can also export the photos from iphoto, edit them and save them under new names and reimport the edited photos as new files. This is more trouble, but lets you save as many different versions of your image as you like (iphoto only remembers the last edited version + original).

You are booted from Recovery Drive. Have you tried restarting so you boot normally?

You can only import photos from the camera roll into the computer. Is that the album that you are seeing?
Any albums that you create on the device itself (the iPad that is) cannot be transferred to your computer. iPad created albums do not contain copies of your photos but merely pointers to those photos so they do not actually exist in those albums.
