IPhoto 08 and Thunderbird email

I asked this question on another mac forum but never got an answer (or a response):
Is it possible to get iPhoto to recognize Thunderbird as my email client?
If I want to send someone a photo from iPhoto my only choice is Mail -
In the iPhoto preferences I can see America Online, Eudora, Mail and Microsoft Entourage as the mail choices (all grayed out except Mail because I don't have the other programs).
This really isn't a big deal but if there is a file I could edit or something I would like to do so.

A WEB search will give you more info on the history of it.
Apparently it works well (I haven't used it myself), but the main downside is that if Thunderbird is running and you want to email from iPhoto, you have to shutdown and restart Thunderbird first (or start Thunderbird after iPhoto).

Please excuse me if a make a few mistakes, I am French ;)
I come here because firefox and thunderbird are not working together anymore. This is what happens :
- Firefox and Thunderbird are opened
- I click on a link in an email
- A few seconds after that a Firefox windows pops up. The title is : "Close Firefox", the content is : "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
Second case :
- Firefox is closed and Thunderbird is open
- I click on a link in an email
- A few seconds after that a Firefox windows pops up as expected. Firefox opens the link as expected but doesn't opens the other tabs as usual (when i start FF it re-opens previous tabs)
Third case :
- Firefox and Thunderbird are opened
- I click on a link to send an email (<a href="mailto:......@.....">)
- A few seconds after that a Thunderbird windows pops up. The title is : "Close Thunderbird", the content is : "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
As in the second case, if TB is closed when i click on the mailto, TB opens properly and send the email.
If Internet Explorer is set as my default browser, it works fine for "Thunderbird -> link -> IE" but the "IE-> mailto -> TB" still doesn't work.
I already looked up for some answers on google but can't find something which works.

Check the target field in the Firefox desktop shortcut and make sure that you do not start Firefox with the -no-remote switch or have set the environment variable MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 (Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment variables).
Always make sure to start at least the default profile without the -no-remote command line switch.
If you need to have more than one profile open at the same time then start subsequent instances with the -no-remote command line switch.
You can not send links from other programs to a Firefox instance that is started with the -no-remote switch.
In such a case you need to drag links in a Firefox window or paste the link in the location bar.

How do I add more than 5 phone numbers and two emails to a contact in Thunderbird address book?

I have just started using TB 31.4 and am planning to move contacts (about 1400 from Outlook) into the TB Address Book. Many of my contacts have multiple email addresses, more than five telephone numbers, and more than two street addresses.
In doing a small import test I noticed that TB only has space for five telephone numbers and two email addresses, two street addresses. Is there a way to add more so that I do not lose this data on the import?
Is there a way to rename telephone number fields (as almost no one has a pager anymore)?
Can you create a third street address location?
I understand the use of custom fields but that seems less than satisfactory method.

I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.
To the best of my knowledge, this problem started with the new update to Ver. 3.6.9. I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005

How can I attach comments to a photo in iPhoto '11 and then have it show when I forwarded it via email?

I'd like to send photos to friends with comments comments about the photo. How can I do that? I'm using iPhoto '11 with Leopard.

Depends...
Most easy: simply attach the pic to an email and write the comments in the email
Most complex: Use the Description field in the Info Pane to write you comments, export the shot (File -> Export), checking the box at 'Titles and Keywords', and then email that. But be aware that the comment will be written to the IPTC metadata and the receiver at the other end will need an app that understands that.

Just got a New iPad Air, and I want to import all of my email & contacts (email addresses) from a Windows XP-based Thunderbird Email program.

Do you have all messages left on the server? Then you can simply set-up your Gmail account as IMAP account.

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account. On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account. If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to. It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?

Problem with Thunderbird email:
When I send email using a mailing list, with my email included in the list, the message shows up in my Sent list and others receive it but it does not come to my email Inbox. The same problem occurs when I send the email to the mailing list addresses individually. When I send a simple test message to myself, I do receive it in my Inbox. Can you help me??

Are you using either cc or bcc? Is googlemail involved? Some email providers suppress cc's and bcc's to oneself since you will have a copy in your Sent folder.

I get "mail server does not recognize your Apple ID and password" when I try to share a picture via email in iPhoto. My iCloud email works ok otherwise. I have check all mail settings for ID and password.

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete the account and re-enter it - sometimes that resolves this
Or IMHO the best long term solution is to set Apple Mail as the iPhoto e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences and use it - it has a number of advatages and has fewer problems

I accidentally uninstalled firefox and thunderbird whilst cleaning. can i reinstall or recover my hotmail and gmail emails?

I accidentally uninstalled both firefox and thunderbird during a clean up. I am now trying to reciver my previous hotmail and gmail emails. Having used Outlook and re set my email accounts it has synched and 'pulled' up emails from gmail back to August and Hotmail back a month.
Is there any way of recovering the older emails?

Re-install Thunderbird, add the accounts again.
We don't know if you were using POP or IMAP.
IMAP will show you any messages on the server.
POP would have stored messages on your computer. You could recover these by importing the mailbox files for the previous instance of the account, so long as your "clean up" didn't also remove the profile.

I'd really like to see my own emails come back to me in the conversation so that I know where my remarks fall in the discussion; it's very disorienting when you can't tell if your email has arrived at the list, or not. It's both gmail and mac.com email accounts, and it's all email lists -- including some privately hosted on servers, that are not Google groups, not Yahoo groups.
I'm not sure what you mean by "saving a copy of your messages yourself" in Mail -- if I email to the lists with Mail on my laptop or iPad, I can see it on my desktop computer too, right in line with other email messages in the thread, after the list resends the message I've submitted. It's only Thunderbird that this "invisible posts" behavior happens, and it didn't use to happen this way. I used to get my emails posting right in the thread.

Cableone innstalled a new server and now my thunderbird email will not work. What do I do now?

Cableone, our internet provider, has changed from a Google server to their own server and now my Thunderbird email will not work. They have directions listed to make it work, but this does not work. I have also contacted Cableone's technical support and they say because thunderbird is not their system they have no responsibility to make it work. I prefer to use Thunderbird for my email - how can I make it work? Also, I have tried the Thunderbird 'Automatic Account Configuration' help and it does not work.

Ask your less than helpful provider for the server settings and setup the new account up manually.
You want to know IMAP or POP and the name of the server. The port number and if it uses SSL/TLS security.
You need the same info for the SMTP server for outbound mail.
