IPhoto '08 book order

Hello you good forum people!
I have ordered my book on last Monday (Feb. 18th 2008) and still haven't received it. I live in Toronto, Canada and I understand that I'm not going to get it "same day", but I was worried since I don't know how to check the status of my order. When I registered myself I didn't know I can use my primary email address which is at gmail, but instead I used my temporary .mac address. So at the end, when I placed my order I've got the message that receipt has been sent to my .mac address.
Now, this address has expired and I would have to renew it in order to be able to log into my account and see my emails, so there is no way I can get my receipt. It would be foolish to purchase .mac account just because of this, so that's not an option.
Can anyone tell me if there is any other way of checking what's the status of my order please ? I have my order number here. Oh yes, I paid 60+ dollars because I ordered hard cover version and had 46 pages inside.
Thanks in advance for any help.
S.

Thank you so much, this was super quick!
I appreciate your help, I really do!
Yes it worked great, this is what I've got:

Does anyone know if I try to submit my iphoto book order from Ireland with my macbook and my apple ID created in USA, to which countries Apple would allow me to receive the finished books?
So far, I do know that if I try to submit my iphoto book order from California, the only shipping addresses that I could enter must be either in USA or Canada.

    HI,

  • IPhoto "buy book" order fails at end of upload

I have created a 20 pg hard-covered book in iPhoto which I can preview with no problems and I can create a pdf version of it (34.6MB). However, when attempting to buy the book, I get an error message with CANCEL/RETRY as my options at the very end of the upload process. I have tried the following, but still no success:
    (1) safe boot - iPhoto crashes immediately at "BUY BOOK" selection
    (2) set energy savers to off - dies at end of upload
    (3) duplicated the book and tried to purchase duplicated version - dies at end of upload
    (4) changed the theme of the book and tried to purchase it - dies at end of upload
    (5) created a simple card and purchased it with no problems (so my account is fine) and I cancelled the order thereafter
Each page of the book has 2 portrait photos with minimal text underneath. The largest photo size is 4.6MB. All photos are JPGs. I rebooted my iMac each time before trying (2)-(5) above. I am running version 9.4.3 (720.91) of iPhoto. I have turned off my TimeMachine backup too and have all other applications closed when I attempt to purchase the book. To date, I have never had a problem purchasing books (last one in Dec 2012).
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Sadly, no change after updating v10.8.5(combo). A normal boot with an attempt to "buy book" from iPhoto, gets almost to the end of the upload and then gives me the following error:
In Safe boot, I get to the beginning of the Assembly process and iPhoto crashes. Here is a portion of the problem details:
I compiled my book on Thursday evening, thinking that would be the painstaking part. Purchasing it has become too much of a time consuming adventure! I did call Apple Technical Support last evening and the service agent suggested that I check the Apple Support Community discussions, so thank you for taking a greater interest in my problem.
One other thing I found regarding problems submitting photobook orders is at the bottom of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2516. An excerpt from this webpage is below, but I can't find the "NetServices" entry in my Keychain Access window to try this fix. Do you think this is a piece to my puzzle or simply old info as it was last modified on May 24, 2012?
Again, I was able to order a photocard (cancelled the order within 90 minute window) as a test, so I don't believe I have an account problem.
    excerpt:
If you are using iPhoto '08 or iPhoto '09 and are unable to submit your order after following the steps above, please follow these steps to reset your Keychain:
    Quit iPhoto.
From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Utilities to access your Utilities folder (or press Shift-Command-U).
In your Utilities folder, open Keychain Access.
Find the "NetServices" entry in your Keychain Access window.
Select the "NetServices" entry and press the delete key.
Reopen iPhoto and attempt to place your order again.
You should be prompted to enter your account information if you deleted the Keychain entry successfully.
After entering your account information, you should be able to complete your order.
If you are unsuccessful with submitting your order, please contact Apple Technical Support.

  • Why does iPhoto cancel book orders?

I made a 20 page soft cover book with photos from my Nikon D2x, i.e. great color and resolution...after waiting two weeks for books to come I check order history and find that my order has been canceled with no explanation and no notifying email. Why do they do this? This was my first experience with iPhoto and looks like it will be my last.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. One possible reason could be the font - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300964. If you used a type 1 font it can be kicked back. Also if you opt to have page numbers and any of the photos in the layout obscure the number it can be rejected.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Unable to complete photo book order on ipad

Hi, I hope this is the right place to get some help. Regarding placing an iphoto photo book order on an ipad.
I have been working on a photo book project for a long time, and want to finally order some copies of the book. Everything has worked fine, except that I get a message that I have some clipped text that may be exceeding its boundaries. I can't figure out where this is, no warning triangles are showing, so I choose to proceed with the order anyway. The next page is black/dark grey with a small icon of the front page of the photo book, and it says "done" ("ferdig" in Norwegian) on top. I can click on some words in blue writing on the top right of the page, "add delivery address" (in Norwegian). When I try to type somehing in there, nothing happens.
Aaargh, this is so frustrating! I have checked that my address and credit card info is valid, in my apple id-account(itunes).
Shouldn't there be some uploading of the album? And a choice of how many copies etc I want? I have checked my email and there are no order confirmations, so I apparently havent placed an order yet, despite the "done"/"ferdig" on top of the page.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? What can I do?

    Hey there Nyibyen,
It sounds like you are unable to purchase a project youve been working on for a good long while, but the order process is not working as expected. I would start by verifying you have Express Checkout enabled in your Account Settings when you are at http://store.apple.com, with this info:
You can review or edit your express checkout settings by accessing the Account section from the main navigation bar. Sign-in with your Apple ID and password to view your account settings. Click on the Edit button if you wish to edit your shipping address or payment method. You can also enable or disable the express checkout feature for this computer by moving the slider to the respective position.
    From: Express Checkout
              http://store.apple.com/us/help/express_checkout_faq
If so and your other billing info is correct, quit all the running apps on the iPad:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue is still unresolved, try resetting your network settings and attempting the order again.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
From: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Low budget image proofing for iPhoto book order

    Hello!
I want to prepare my photos the best I can for iPhoto book ordering (Christmas present for family).
I have a Dell U2711 attached to a Mac Mini running OS X 10.6.8 and iPhoto '11 9.2.1. and a Canon Selphy CP520 dye sub printer which I thought to use as a precheck of what my JPG sRGB images would look like when printed in a book.
    Here's my headache:
If I set up the monitor and calibrate the display profile as suggested in post #1 under this thread then such setup makes me color correct the photos by RADICALLY pushing the midtone slider in the levels adjustments to the left (brightening the picture). Prints that come out of the Selphy under this setup are a perfect match to what I see on the monitor and that is wonderful. However, I hesitate to order a book using such images because they appear far too bright on an iMac for example. (Perhaps I should mention that Google logo in Safari looks like its on steroids in this setup).
On the other hand, if I set up the monitor as it came from factory (PC gamma, standard preset), and use the default DELL U2711 display profile in SystemPreferences, then pictures look relatively ok on screen without any radical color correction. But prints that come out of Selphy with this setup don't match what is on the display, prints are too dark, and again I hesitate to order a book with such images.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Mato

Yes - don't try so hard and use your Mac and iPhoto - not a PC
iPhoto is designed as a consumre level program for point and shoot comeras - many people (including me) report excellent results using it that way - load sRGB photos form a digital camera and do minimal processing on them - never do major color adjustments - using iPhoto - preview rthe book -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
    and order
Apples comments on this are here
Of the negative comments posted here nearly all of them were from people who spend lots of time and energy adjusting photos trying to second guess the printing process and failing to do so - Apple does have an unconditional sastisfaction guarentee - do it the simple way - less is more in this case

Just got off the phone with apple support.  If the photo book completes the assembly process but fails during the upload process the problem is in their overloaded servers. They just started a free shipping promotion for the holidays which has increased the traffic dramatically. I bought a calendar a week ago and it went right through. I'm going to try again during less peak times.

  • Iphoto book order cancelled - Totally dissatisfying customer service

This message to alert you that Apple might cancel your iPhoto book order for no reason !
This is what just happened to me, leaving me in a totally dissatisfying and frustrating situation, as I did everything to have this book in time for Christmas, had to go through over an hour on the helpline with Customer Services, whose agents are badly informed on the solutions that they can offer you when such mistakes happen ---
I ordered an iphoto book on December 14, in order to have it in time for Christmas.
Nothing was reported wrong or erroneous when I placed the order and uploaded the book. Two days later, Apple cancelled my order without any notification sent to me. I have only learned about it on December 21, worried that my book had not arrived yet. I checked online about my order status, which then said "order cancelled". No explanation why. I waited for Monday December 23 in order to be able to talk from someone at Customer Services. I was then told that my order had been cancelled because one picture and text was overlapping, but they could not tell me exactly which one. It was then suggested to me that I should replace the same order and call back so that they could accelerate the process.
I placed the order and sent the exact same book to Apple again and then called back. Another assistant from Customer Services advised me that there was nothing they could do in order to accelerate the printing and delivery process. All they COULD HAVE offered me was 15% discount, which the first assistant did not mention and which now was too late for me to benefit from since I had already placed the order. Also, I was told that my exact same order did not produce any issue for printing, so that the first cancellation was in fact made without any reason.
This leaves me with the following situation: Although I have placed my first order in time for it to arrive before Christmas, I end up with no Christmas present, over an hour lost on the phone with customer services, no discount, no accelerated printing or delivery process or any other gesture in order for my infuriating situation to be less so, and a photo book that will arrive in early January when I will have already left my family to work abroad again.
I am entirely dissatisfied with the quality of the Apple iphoto book service and Apple customer services. I have not obtained any help or remedy from your customer services although several mistakes had been made on their side.
You are well advised to consider alternatives before spending hours on creating an iphoto book...

Anne, that is really outragious. And I cannot understand why the support did nothing to rectify their mistake and help you to get your book printed in time. The support teams at the Print Products Stores probably will not read these these Forums, these are user-to-user discussions. So, to make Apple listen to your justified complaint, use the feedback form.

  • IPhoto 6 book/calendar order failures

Using iPhoto version 6 (version 6.0.6 (322)), I have tried to make my first order (3 copies of a calendar) using 12 jpg digital photos from my iPhoto library. (Upgraded to iPhoto 6 as per Apple Support advice after similar error with iPhoto 5 in early 2007 - although strangely have made successful book orders in 2006!)
However, this always fails - I get the error message "An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file." I have tried re-sending several times, restarted completely, created a duplicate calendar, etc, but no luck, the same error message appears. I can create a PDF file without any problem. I have no other problems with iPhoto or my iMac or with other uploading/downloading, broadband connections, etc. Any ideas - is there some preference file or something that needs trashing?

Thanks Jonathan - but in my case I've been trying on and off sporadically for over 8 months! This was first on iPhoto 4, now on iPhoto 6 (Apple Support told me in April when still on iPhoto 4 that "If this does not resolve the issue for you, I would advise you to upgrade to iLife '06." - a good sales pitch on their part but it's changed nothing!).
I've tried some of the other suggested fixes, e.g. creating a new account, deleting specific files ("Preferences" - "By Host" folder and the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist"; Library - "Caches", Trash the iPhoto folder, as per http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=556861&tstart=90) but no luck.
Strangely enough, up to about January 2007 I'd successfully ordered two or three books on the old iPhoto 4 set-up. I wasn't aware of any changes to set-up - same OS etc, it just stopped working for me! Any other ideas out there?

I've been having the same problem. For six days I have been trying to upload a book I created in iPhoto 5.0.4. After it transfers the first 128K I get an error message. The message tells me to retry. When I retry, iPhoto acts like it's completing the transfer. But the transfer happens so quickly that I know it's not really transferring the rest of the book. Then I get a message saying the order has been received. But then I get an email saying there has been a problem with the order and that they could not process my order so it has been cancelled. I have 25 of these emails in my inbox at the moment. Each one representing an attempt at uploading my book.
I did manage to get one book to upload after numerous attempts. I didn't do anything different. Now I want to get two softcover copies of the book made and I can't get it to upload.
I have tried everything - repairing permissions, running Cocktail, resetting my airport, trashing my preferences, reinstalling iPhoto, checking my fonts, rebuilding the book with smaller files - basically everything I have seen suggested on this forum. Nothing has worked.
Last September I made 3 books and had no problems uploading them. No I don't know what is going on.
It is really frustrating. I want to give these new books to my brother and sister for Christmas, but it looks like that is not going to happen now.
    Thanks Apple.

  • IPhoto book order status

Where can I see my iPhoto book order status?

From the Order Status link on the Print Products Store page for your country:
For example, for the US store it is here:

To find the corresponding page for your county, start from here:

  • Placing book order-iPhoto quit unexpectedly

I have been trying to order an 88 page large spiral photo book. Each time I try, it assembles all 88 photos then iPhoto quits and I get the -unexpectedly quit-message. I have relaunched, reset and relaunched but it still will not process the order. I placed an order for prints with no problem. Why can't I get my book ordered?

It isn't the size of the book. My friend recently uploaded a 100 page book without a problem.
    A few more ideas:
Is iPhoto up to date? Run software update.
Check the photos in the book make sure there aren't any error symbols showing up. They might look like yellow yield signs.
Call Applecare and see if they have any ideas or even an Apple Store.
    These two stink, but:
Rebuild the book from a new book. Maybe there is an error from within the book.
Rebuild the book using Kodak's service. I don't know if the kodak gallery software allows you to build and upload within the program or if it has to be online. There is a plug-in for iPhoto that allows you to upload photos to your Kodak account from within iPhoto, so that helps a little.
