IPhoto 08 can now edit EXIF Capture Date

iPhoto 08 is now able to change the EXIF Capture Date on the original files thru the Photo->Adjust Date and Time menu option. It also changes the Created and Modified date to the same selected date on the original file.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Björn:
I tried it on an alias library and the "source" files on the external HD did have their Capture Date changed. How did you get the files from the original (alias based) library into the other?

  • IPhoto misbehaving - can't edit

I can't edit an album full of raw images. iPhoto is set to keep my files in my Finder folder structure. If I right click a file to reveal the underlying file it shows me the jpeg in the modified folder in the iPhoto library. But it doesn't seem to be able to import the photo if I Command-D to duplicate it. Has iPhoto just lost track of where the RAW files are? Any way to show it where they are again?
Other albums with RAW are not doing this. Strange, I ordered prints of the troublesome album last week and it let me edit them. Does it lock them after you order prints or something?
I have repaired permissions, rebooted, run the periodic tasks....
Also - when I try to duplicate one of these files iPhoto goes to beach ball and I have to Force Quit it.
One more tidbit: I have show rolls on, and it only shows me the last roll.

Dual 1.8 G5, Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.3) 1.5 GB RAM, iPod, iPod Mini (gone missing)

It seems like it can't find the originals, but it isn't prompting for location or anything.
More info: I have edited these files. So there are jpegs in the library.
Even more info: It has spontaneously corrected itself again. Repair permissions and periodic maintenance and a reboot didn't fix it. But a day later and maybe another reboot and it is fixed. That's what happened before.
Makes me nervous about putting too much effort and energy into organizing photos in this program.

  • Editing video on mac desktop. In iPhoto and can't edit.

How can I edit video on my Mac desktop? Video is currently in iPhoto and I can't edit it. I need to rotate it.

You can do some minimal cropping of the movie file in iPhoto, i.e. change the start and stop points, but that's all.

  • IPhoto 6 Can't Edit Photos

I've just installed iPhoto 6 (and used 5, 4 etc), and I find that I can't Edit my pictures. When I try to edit a seleced picture in the Library, (via context menu, double-click or toolbar), either nothing happens, or the edit window opens, with thumbnails across the top, and nothing in the main window. If I try doing something in the edit window, I lock up iPhoto 6.
In the console log, I can see that each time I do this, a pair of errors is generated:
    2006-01-11 22:00:37.157 iPhoto[536] * +[CIPlugIn _addPlugIn:allowNonExecutable:]: selector not recognized
    2006-01-11 22:00:37.158 iPhoto[536] * +[CIPlugIn _addPlugIn:allowNonExecutable:]: selector not recognized
It seems to me that the file isn't getting passed along correctly.
Very disappointing to become one of the folks for whom an Apple program doesn't work out of the box. I don't think I've modified anything to interfere with iPhoto, so I'd appreciate any suggestions on what is going wrong.
    Cheers,
    Gregory

    Hi Gregory,
Since iPhoto 6 is so new there is not much info to work on. Why don't you try reinstalling iLife 6.
    Here are the instructions:
Navigate to /Applications and drag the iLife applications to the trash
Navigate to /Library/Receipts and drag all of the iLife receipts to the trash
Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences and drag com.apple.iPhoto.plist, com.apple.iMovie.plist, com.apple.iDVD.plist and any other plists for the iapps you have installed to the trash.
You do not have to touch iTunes or any files associated with iTunes.
Insert your iLife 6 DVD and choose to do a custom install.
Install all the iapps except iTunes.
Open itunes first, then iPhoto, then iMovie, then iDVD, then Garageband if you installed it. You can quit each application after you launch it.
    Hopefully that will work.

  • IPhoto 9 - Can't Edit photos. Only get black screen

Recently I went to edit some photos I have in iPhoto 9.  When I click on a thumbnail to edit, I get nothing but black.  When I show file, the jpg is there and it opens fine in preview. I tried the iPhoto Library Manager. Made a new library and then tried importing the photos from the existing library into the new one.  It said they were "Unreadable Files" Even though they are all jpgs.
Any ideas? I've rebuilt, etc with CNTRL OPTION.
Is this possibly because of software update to LION? I'm running 10.7.5 and have the latest updates.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Can't edit in Chart Data Editor

I am trying to make a pie chart and I cannot edit the data in the data editor once I get the chart on the working page. Double clicking in the data editor does nothing. The slider bars can't be moved. I can't move the data editor window but the rest of the chart can be manipulated in the chart inspector window. Any suggestions? I am using Keynote 3.0.2
Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I fixed my problem by simply quitting and restarting the program. I can't explain why but it worked. As Vizzini says "You must go back to the beginning."

  • [PS2013] Can't edit report's data sources

    Hi!
When I upload a report to the PWA, I usually click on the 3 dots and open the menu for that report. I remember that there used to be an option to edit data sources, but I can't see that option anymore, like in the picture below. Any ideas on why did I stopped
    having that option?

What kind of report is it?  Excel, SSRS, word, PDF?
It sounds like an SSRS connection string and if that is the case make sure the library has define the content types for SSRS.
    Cheers!

  • Can't edit DOC field data if its over 250 characters.

    Hi All,
If am IDOC field length is more than 250 characters, SAP is not allowing to change the data(example basic type: ACC_DOCUMENT01, segment: E1BPACEXTC, field: FIELD1). Its throwing an error on saying field lenght is more than 250 characters. Now I need to write a custom program to modify those fields in the Idoc. Can any body help with function module I need to call to modify the fields in idoc.
    Regards,
    Venkat.

Forgive me, this is not practical advice.
I installed Numbers 3. From the Mac App Store, there being no other way. As is its practice, MAS, wipes out every trace of previous versions of the software it replaces. Numbers 2.3 simply does not exist on my machine.
Yes, I have Time Machine backups. Have you tried drag-installing iWorks applications? They will not run. They rely on system-level frameworks that I am not confident I can dig out of Time Machine.
No, I do not have my original distribution media for iWorks. I bought iWorks nearly six years ago, when computers still had optical drives. It happens I have a couple of 3.5" floppies from the first developer-tools releases in 1984, but those are relics. I don't have the DVD (or CD?).
If I did have the DVD, it would not contain version 2.3. 2.3 came from an Apple update I downloaded from the support site five years ago. I challenge you to give me a live URL for that updater.
P.S. Perhaps I am oversensitive, but I think the implication is gratuitous, that only a fancy-pants rocket scientist would want to import a spreadsheet that contains 100 lines of dates, text, and numbers in 17 columns.
When one double-clicks an .xlsx file, Numbers opens it. Import of Excel files is not an advanced future direction. It is an intended function of the application today. Numbers responds to double-clicking .xlsx files today. If it were not an intended function, it would not attempt to open the file; or at least it would post some kind of alert that the operation is not yet implemented.

  • Editing EXIF Image Date?

I accidentally set the date information of my camera to an incorrect year, which I noticed when I imported the fotos into Aperture.
Is there any way to correct the image date from within Aperture? - Ideally in the master file?
Using a 3rd party app would be acceptable as long as it is free, as I only need to correct 10 fotos.
    Thanks, Hans-Uwe

There is a program caled EXIFtools that can alter the image date - there is no way tochange that, even for versions, in Aperture (a much requested feature for all sorts of reasons).
If you do change the masters you'll have to re-import as Aperture will not pick up exif changes to the master after import.

  • Changing Capture Date

I'm scanning a ton of old negatives and want to change the capture date. The date doesn't appear in the EXIF metadata list, but I can attempt to change via the metadata menu - but it doesn't work and reverts back to the 12/31/2000.
Help! How can I change the capture date for these?
It works for photographs that I scanned from hardcopy.

  • Displaying Capture Date?

Is there an easy way to get the photo capture date to be displayed in the library mode?
    thanks,
    Leora

It's already shown on the metadata panel on the right side. However, you can also display the Capture Date & Time on the Expanded view thumbnails.
To switch from Compact Cell view to Expanded Cell view you'll need to go into the View menu then choose Grid View Style>Expanded Cell. Now right click on the top right corner of the cell to open the context menu as shown in following screen shot

  • Edit/add XML data in BI Publisher

    Hi
I have a java program that is generating an XML file that I am using as input for my BI publisher for PO report. However, I want to add some extra information(location addresses corresponding to location id) that is not there in the XML and I cannot edit the java program generating it. Is there any way I can do this in BI publisher? Can I edit/add XML data in BI publisher? This is really urgent and I appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

You have to edit the package which has the sql query,
without fetching them in xml , you cannot display that.
BIP will not help you to get that into report.
The code which generates the XML data has to edited for sure..
I guess, i helped one guy for similar requirement,
i guess you are asking in the same report..
the java program in turn calls the Pl/Sql package which generates the XML data and pass it to the Java Concurrent Program.
The Pl/Sql package picks data from these views po_headers_xml, po_lines_xml, po_distribution_xml.
you can also add the columns you want to be displayed in these views, and then change the template accordingly.

  • Can't edit default domain controllers policy on windows 8 or server 2012

I have found that I can't edit the "Default Domain Controllers Policy" from a Windows 8 or Server 2012 machine.  I can edit and save changes fine from a Windows 7 machine.  The domain controllers are running Windows 2012 Standard upgraded
from Windows 2008 R2.  Is there a security setting I am missing?

Posting the resolution from the other thread.  Hope it helps!
I just accidentally resolved this issue today.  I added the GPMC to a 2008 R2 server so I could make a needed firewall
change within the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security section of the Default Domain Controllers GPO (I enabled the Remote Event Log management rule for the Domain profile).  About an hour later, I forgot I was using my Windows 8 machine and I went
to edit the Default Domain Controllers GPO and opened for edit without a problem.  I can now edit it from Windows 8 and from Windows Server 2012.  Until now, I was using a Windows 7 VM to make the edits, so in my case the problem was resolved by
editing the GPO once from a 2008 R2 machine.
