IPhoto 08 Can open event but can't see more than the one pic

When I open an event in iPhoto all I can see is the main picture, I can't see the thumbnails for the rest of the pictures. It was working fine yesterday. Any help would be great!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First see if the slider at the bottom if all the way to the right. If so move it to the left to display more photos in the screen. If that doesn't work then go to iPhoto's Events preference and select the radio button titled "Double-click Event: Shows Event Photos" as seen here.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Is there any way to see more than the latest three back ups when restoring from iCloud?

    I have had my phone set as icloud back up only for a couple months now and it had been backing up fine. But my wifi shut down on the phone and I couldn't back it up via iCloud. (I thought) I backed it up through my computer before taking the phone to the Genius Bar but it didn't work for some reason. And now I lost all my photos that were taken between the time that I had the wifi and when I got the phone replaced. However, I backed up the new phone via iCloud afterwards, with the phone restored to the time before i switched to iCloud backup. And I'm not a 100% sure but I'm sure it's backed up more than 3 times since I got the phone replaced. Is there any way to pick from the past iCloud backups, further back than the latest three?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I don't believe you can see more than three, unfortunately.

  • With iOS 7.0.2 I lost many apps from my screen.  They are in the Apps store under "updates."  I can open them but can't get them back onto the desktop for easy access.

    How can I get my Apps back on my iPhone screen?  Many disappeared when I updated to i0S 7.0.2.  I can open them from the Apps store where they are listed in Updates.  But I can't get them back on my desktop for easy access.

    Try restoring the iPhone from backup.

  • Pages, i can't see more than page one when I download a newsletter template

    When I download a newsletter template I only see page one. How do I get to use the rest of the pages?

    Mousing shows all the available pre-formatted pages available in each template to give you an idea what is there, but you only get one, sometimes 2, when you create a new document. All of the other pages can be accessed via the Insert menu. Insert > Sections in word processing & Insert > Pages in page layout.
    If they all loaded when you opened a template, you'd have to go through & delete the ones you don't want & duplicate the ones you want more than one of.

  • Can I see more than the top 200 rental movies?

    I guess that there are many hundreds of movies for rent on i-Tunes, but I only seem to be able to see the top 200. How can I view a wider selection?

    Use the power search function and click the "search only for movies available for rent" button.
    When the search is complete, click the "Show All" button next to "Movies" as shown above.
    When you get to the bottom of the page, click "Next" to see more.

  • Having updated to iOS7 how can I use a different Game Centre account than the one that is connected to my Apple ID?

    Having updated to iOS7, how can I use a more than one Game Centre? I have children linked to my Apple ID as they are too young to have thier own ID.

    Yes, you can certainly create a new Apple ID at appleid.apple.com (which will have to be associated with a different email address from your current ID) and then change the various settings and applications on one of your iPhones to use this new ID.

  • My iphoto library is taking a lot of memory, more than the photos.

    When I look in iPhoto, the photos are 20GB, but when I look in finder, the iphoto library is 29.8GB, why is this, and is there a way to solve it? I have already reverted all the photos to originals just in case that was taking up space, but it didnt seem to help at all.
    Thanks

    What the iPhoto Window reports as the "size" of the Library is the nominal size of the folder if you exported all the images as the 'Current' setting.
    The iPhoto Library contains your Masters, Databases, Metadata, Previews, Thumbnails and Caches. That’s the true size of your iPhoto Library.

  • How do I copy backed-up files from an external hard drive back to my MBA, but under a different user than the one from which they were backed up?

    On the advice of the Chicago Mac Genius Bar, in order to get better performance on my few years old MBA, I copied my Home folders (but not Library) to an external hard drive, created a new user, deleted the old user, and tried to copy the Home folder contents from the external hard drive back to the MBA under the new user. However, I get an error message and can't open most of the folders on the external hard drive (e.g. "The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.") Help! Thanks.

    As captfred says, yes (as long as the drive is formatted for a Mac, not Windoze).

  • When I move photos from iPhoto library into a desktop folder, I often am unable to view more than the one I dragged. The rest remain 'stacked'

    Can anyone help. I cannot reliably move multiple photos from within the iPhoto library to a desktop folder without them remaining stacked and inaccessible. Sometimes I can manually drag the photos, one by one, off the stack and arrange inside the folder. At other times, the photos remain stacked and cannot be separated???
    I have no problems highlighting a group of photos and moving them as a 'stack'.
    Help?

    Select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export (file menu ==> export) to a desktop folder

  • How do I create an action to save as, but into a different folder than the one I used to create the action?

    I am having an issue with my action being created to save under the same folder that my action was created with.  For instance, I opened an image, recorded the action, then I went to a different folder to play the action, but it saves to the previous folder.  How do I add some way to change the folder I want my pics to save to?

    If you want to give Scripting a try paste the following text into a new file in ExtendScript Toolkit and save it as a jsx-file into Photoshop’s Presets/Scripts-folder.
    // saves jpg into same folder;
    // be advised: this  overwrites existing jpgs of the same name without prompting.
    // 2010, use it at your own risk;
    #target photoshop;
    if (app.documents.length > 0) {
    var thedoc = app.activeDocument;
    // getting the name and location;
    var docName = thedoc.name;
    if (docName.indexOf(".") != -1) {var basename = docName.match(/(.*)\.[^\.]+$/)[1]}
    else {var basename = docName};
    // getting the location, if unsaved save to desktop;
    try {var docPath = thedoc.path}
    catch (e) {var docPath = "~/Desktop"};
    // jpg options;
    var jpegOptions = new JPEGSaveOptions();
    jpegOptions.quality = 12;
    jpegOptions.embedColorProfile = true;
    jpegOptions.matte = MatteType.NONE;
    //save jpg as a copy:
    thedoc.saveAs((new File(docPath+'/'+basename+'.jpg')),jpegOptions,true);
    //that’s it; thanks to xbytor;

    Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
    (On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
    (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
    For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

    For some reason every time I try to open iPhoto, it opens it but immediately it frozen. I can no do anything or see any of my pictures. How can I fix it? without erasing any of my pictures.

    What version of iPhoto?
    A. iPhoto '11. Version 9.4.2 (710.42)
    What version of the Operating System?
    A.Mac OS X Version 10.7.5
    What was I doing when the problem arose?
    A. I was uploading some pictures from my camera to my Mac then I closed it. next time tried to open it and it went right to the way that the pictire before shows.
    Did it ever work properly?
    A. It had some details; like taking a lot of time to send a picture from iPhoto to an e-mail or not send it at all.
    What steps have I tried already to solve the issue?
    A. None, I havent wanted to do anything to fix it because I'm afraid I could somehow delete my pictures. I know the pictures still there; because, they are on my screen saver changing and changing.
    I also want to know if there is any other way for me to see my pictures other than trought iPhoto?

    Try to restart your Mac and try again.  I see from the hang, that if was hanging when accessing the data and time.
    Did you just change your system preferences while iPhoto was open? That can crash open applications.
    If that has not been the reason, test, if iPhoto will work on a new, empty library.
    As a test, launch iPhoto while holding down the alt/options key and create a new library from the library chooser panel. Does that work?
