IPhoto '08 no longer prints to Kodak EasyShare printer dock series 3

I installed iLife '08 last week. Used iPhoto '08 for the first time today. It will not longer print to the Kodak EasyShare printer dock series 3 photo printer. I get the message that the "Cartridge and tray type do not match."
I called Kodak. They have never seen this error message before. They had me update the EasyShare software because it is connected to iPhoto in the background when it comes to printing. Everything prints perfectly from the EasyShare software but it still will not print from iPhoto '08. It did from the previous versions.
Kodak believes that it is an iPhoto problem.
Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem yet. I didn't find any when I did a search.
It's kind of silly to export a photo from iPhoto to EasyShare just to print.
thanks...

I was having the same problem with my Kodak Photo Printer 300, except that I could not print from ANY app other than Preview (I have iPhoto '08 also, but I never used the printer with an older version so I don't know if the problem happened after I upgraded iLife). I was able to work around the problem by using "4x6" as the paper size instead of "L-size." Hope this helps.

  • Iphoto won't import photos from Kodak EasyShare Camera

I have alsways been able to import photos from my canon camera directly into iphoto. I just purchased a Kodak Easyshare Camera. When I hook it up to my computer, it won't import the photos. The camera does come with it's own EasyShare Software - but I really don't want to import it into my computer. I want the photos to import directly into iphoto library. My Canon Camera still imports into the library. Help.

    sunnydays:
Does System Profiler recognize the camera when it's connected? What version of iPhoto and Quicktime are you at. If not the latest then I suggest you update to 6.0.0 and 7.2 respectively. I'd also update to 10.4.10 via the COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions.
Do you have iPhoto erase the memory card after each upload? If so, I strongly recommend against it as I've seen too many reports of incomplete uploads and complete erasures. It's safer to have the camera reformat the card after the upload.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Accidentally uninstalled kodak easyshare printer driver

Hi there. I have just bought my first Mac so I am somewhat of a novice. I have a kodak digital camera so I installed the software that came with it. However then I realised that I could upload all my photos through iphoto and so didnt need the kodak software. I dont want to clog up my Macbook with uneccessary stuff so I uninstalled the software. At the end it also asked me if I wanted to uninstall the kodak easyshare printer driver. without thinking i clicked yes. I have been fretting ever since because my mother has a kodak easyshare printer and if for some reason i wanted to use it, i would like to have that option. i dont want to be uninstalling drivers that may come in handy in the future. can someone tell me if this is rectifiable?
    thanks
ps i would phone applecare but i dont currently have the leopard installation disc with me as i have just moved house and my things are split between 2 houses 100 miles apart

    Hello s:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
Just reinstall the Kodak software and then let it alone. With today's hard drives, it is not necessary to be particularly careful about "cleaning up."

  • Kodak Easyshare Printer Drivers

I got a new MacBook Air last December.  It is usoing Lion OS 10.7.4.  I am trying to load the printer driver for my odak Easyshare G600 printer dock.  I have followed the directions I found on line but it does not finish the task.  After installation, I restart the copmputer, connect by USB and then when I look for it in the set up screen it finds the printer but will not allow me to add it.  Does anyone know where I am going wrong?  Thanks

I received this from Kodak today
"Thank you for your e-mail regarding Kodak printer drives.
EasyShare software V5.2.1 for Macintosh is live on the web http://www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw
This update fixes the Sync and Transfer Manager problem that was created with the Mac OS X10.4.4 update. Please do a custom instalation and include the Kodak printer.
If the above did not solve the issue, there should be an update to the Kodak printer driver in the next week or two for compatibility with Mac Intel Core Duo computers.
If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us. If applicable, please quote your camera serial number or your customer reference number.

  • Printing to a photo printer connected to Windows?

    Hi everyone,
Just got a new digital camera for Christmas and here's the problem. We have a Kodak digital camera and the Kodak EasyShare printer dock 6000 to go with it. It's connected to a Windows XP computer. My new camera is a Casio Exilim S500, so obviously, it doesn't go on the Kodak dock... but on the Windows computer you can print anything to the dock directly from the computer, but when I try to print to it from my Mac it won't go through. I've played around with some settings.. tried to tell it that it's printing on 4x6 paper and what not. (I'm using iPhoto by the way). It comes up in the printer que, but then never prints. It also says the file is like 30-something MBs when really its 1.5MBs. Can anyone tell me a correct way to make this work?? I print from my Mac to an HP Photosmart 1115 printer (connected to that same Windows computer) all the time- no problems.
    Any of that make sence?
    lol, thanks everyone.

Short and simple: get a different printer. Unfortunately, Dell does not make a driver compatible with OS X for ANY of their printers. AFAIK, there are no generic drivers as well that would be able to do this for a Dell printer either. Sorry for the luck here, but a possible solution would be to copy the files you want printed from the mac to the windoze computer then print it from there. You could even use [MS Remote Desktop for Mac|http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_RDC&fid=803F9438-8 DF3-490F-92C6-0E0F92787DB8#viewer] for a GUI interface between the two.

  • Import captions for kodak easyshare into iphoto

I have thousands of photos in Kodak Easyshare on my old laptop and would like to get them into iPhoto on my new one while retaining the caption information. Is there a macro or some assistance for doing this...some code that can read the caption into from an Easyshare backup and import it into iPhoto?

I'm no programmer but I know a bit of UNIX/Linux scripting and I'm happy to say that I successfully exported my captions from EasyShare into the EXIF description field which is used in Picasa.  Before you get too excited, this is messy and you need know a bit about UNIX/Linux if you want to try this, but here we go...
The captions are stored in the EasyShare.me file which should be in Library/Application Support/Kodak EasyShare.  Copy this file to the desktop.  Then go to Terminal, cd to Desktop, and execute this crazy command:
    cat EasyShare.me | LC_CTYPE=C tr "\000" \| | sed "s/|0|/~/g" | sed "s/int4/~/g" | LC_CTYPE=C tr '~' '\n' | grep "|JPG|1|." | awk -F\| -v OFS=\| '{print $(NF-5),$NF}' | grep -v "|$" > captions.txt
    In order, this command:
    changes binary nulls to pipes
changes pipe-0-pipe and the phrase int4 to newline
find only lines with |JPG|1| with some characters after that string
get the 4th from the last column and the last column
get lines where the captions is not blank
saves it all to a file named captions.txt
The key here is nulls are the delimiter in the EasyShare.me file and that the caption is always in a string that goes:
    filename
    column that we ignore
    column that we ignore
    JPG
    1
    caption
    0
So we replace 0 with newline as well as int4 which just shows up everyone and makes our lines shorter.  Then we searched for lines with the JPG then 1 then something and we know the caption is the last column and the filename is five columns before the last column.
Now I strongly recommend that you manually review captions.txt.  The problem with the crazy format of EasyShare.me is that we can get only get the filename without the path and without the suffix.  So if you had two copies of the same filename both with captions it will show up twice in captions.txt.  Even worse if you have different photos with the same name (i.e. you bought a new camera and it started over with DSCF1000 for a second time) then there is no way to tell which one is which.  And the script which is below has similar problems because it updates all photos with the same filename with same caption.  If you have this problem, you will need to do a lot of this manually but you can still save a bunch of time updating the photos where you have only one version.
Now we have the captions and the files to update so we need to do the update of the EXIF field.  To do this, you must install Phil Harvey's ExifTool from www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool.
Then you can write a shell script to loop through captions.txt and update the description using exiftool.  The following script is rudimentary and has no error checking nor logging.  I also couldn't figure out the spaces so I just replaced them with ~ and then replaced back later.  But it works.  If you are a real programmer you will certainly want to improve it.
    Good luck,
    Cabe

  • Moving photos from Kodak Easyshare (the app) to iPhoto

First, altho I'm posting this under iPhoto 4+, I'll be upgrading to iPhoto 8+ within the week.
When I began digital photography, I had a Kodak camera. That came with the Kodak EasyShare (KES) app. I now have photos in both KES and iPhoto. With my use of iPad and iPod Touch, I'd like to get everything into iPhoto and trash the KES app.
I have not found anything in manuals or the iPhoto app that allows/facilitates app to app transfer of photos.
I'd appreciate help, ideas, workarounds, whatever.
BTW, the KES photos are no longer available in camera.

Still puzzled. Yesterday I consolidated all photos in one location within Pictures. For example, the track to one set of pics looks like this:
    "Mac HD>user>(my name)>Pictures>iPhoto Library>(folder)2010>(folder)Christmas'10>73 JPEG pics"
Preview (the app) opens each pic from both double clicking on the pic and from navigating from Preview's open command. GraphicConverter opens the pics navigating from its open command.
iPhoto, on the other hand, doesn't even acknowledge the pics' existence.
    Any thoughts?

  • IPhoto and Kodak EasyShare software

I find myself using Kodak's EasyShare software a lot more than iPhoto-- especially since I can click on the slide show and see both photos and videos in the same slide show--
BUT with both programs, my photo/video folders are getting huge-- over 25 gb. How can I put "8000 of my photos" (out of 9000) into another folder on an external hard drive and keep the last 1000, but then at a later time access all the photos (combine them again on 1 hard drive) without having the software show a "?" on the photo and thus having to relocate each photo individually... i.e.--> how to backup the folder, but then add new photos to the smaller "new" main folder, then recombine these without having lost any pictures or information...
This must be a concern of others-- any comments on both iPhoto and if possible Kodak EasyShare as well-- THANKS!

    Stephen:
You can do that with iPhoto 6 but not V5. iPhoto 6 has an option to import just alias files into the library and leave the full sized files where ever you want. Then you can change the preferences back to normal and import the full sized image files of those you want on the boot drive into the library. OR, keep them all on an external HD. Here are some Tutorials describing how to convert to an alias based system.

  • I've a MacBook, iPhoto 09, Kodak Easyshare camera. Importing photos working last wk, but today says can't import unrecognized format but it's jpg. Only change since last wk is I downloaded updates. Works fine if I attach camera to unupdated iMac

I've a MacBook, iPhoto 09, Kodak Easyshare camera. Importing photos working last wk, but today says can't import unrecognized format but it's jpg. Only change since last wk is I downloaded updates. Works fine if I attach camera to unupdated iMac

What update are you referring to?  If you do a search for "Kodak" in the iPhoto community you'll find numerous posts regarding problems with Kodak cameras.
So far there's no known fix.  The best workaround is to use a card reader with the memory card of the camera.

  • IPhoto won't import from Kodak EasyShare C300

How do I find out if my new Kodak EasyShare C300 is compatible with iPhoto? If so, how do I get the program to recognize the pictures? In the left margin, the program lists the camera, so it seems to recognize it. When there are pictures on the camera and iPhoto 5 opens, the message says nothing to import. Help! I can use the Kodak software, but I'd prefer iPhoto.
    Al

Since I don't want all my photos in iPhoto, I use Apple's Image Capture to do an initial screen on the images before uploading to the computer. If you want to try it as a workaround for your problem, open it in the Applications folder and set your Preferences to always open when a camera is attached (also opens when you put the card/card reader into a USB slot).
You can import/duplicate the photos in iPhoto if you want a backup, or you can "import" a link to the originals in their original folder.

  • I have a large kodak easyshare library, what is the best way to transfer them into iPhoto ?

I have about 5k pictures in the kodak easyshare software system on a dell laptop - what is the best way to transfer or import them into iPhoto on my iMac ? any help will be greatly appreciated...

Simply, export the data from this esy share system to standard formats like jpeg, making sure to preserve all metadata on the way. How to do that? YOu'll need to post on a Kodak forum I'm afraid.
Then copy the files to the Mac and import them.

  • Kodak EasyShare C875 no longer works on Apple?

Until my computer updated, my Kodak EasyShare C875 camera always worked on both iPhoto and EasyShare software.
Now with the new iPhoto version, it will recognize the camera but the thumbnails are blank.  When I try to import them, I receive error messages.  I have tried to use imagecapture and isync to no avail.
It is not the camera, since when I powered up my old Dell laptop, everything works great.  I imported the pictures there.  I then erased everything from the camera, and took a new test picture to try again on the Apple.  Same story - not working!
It's quite frustrating.  My friend's brand new digital Canon works fine on my Apple - so, is my camera just considered too out of date by Apple's standards?
Is there any way to go back to the older versions of iphoto?  The camera worked great then!

    iPhoto 9.1.3
My camera still shows up in the Devices...and thumbnails load without any images.  I cannot upload them.
In Image capture I get a couple of images showing in thumbnails (others blank) but then this error:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9912.)
All of this is a new problem since the computer updated itself to iPhoto  9.1.3
They are regular .jpg images so there shouldn't be a big problem.

  • Trouble installing Kodak Easyshare 5300 Printer

I got a Kodak Easyshare 5300 All-in-one printer as a gift. While trying to install it I get the message 'no driver installed'. I realize it is compatible with OSX 10.4.8 or later, but my question is - is there any way around this if I have OSX 10.3.9? Any help will be much appreciated.

Read the troubleshooting section in the user manual that came with your printer and get in touch with Epson.
How is your printer connected to your computer?  Did you check your printer settings in System Profile?

  • Scanning with kodak 5300 easyshare printer/scanner

i have a kodak 5300 printer / scanner that i can't control the scanning from my computer.(i have to use the buttons on the scanner its self) The kodak home centre program on my mac only lets me select (which printer?), setup and maintain, there's no ability to operate the scanner! It's also supposed to be able to scan multiple photos but it only finds 1 of the 3 that i put in. Has anyone else had these problems ? What's the fix?

I seem to have the same problem as you all. In attempting to use the advertised multiple picture scanning option, I ended up using the image capture program, going to browse Devices, even though it was already under the device button. then selected "Use Twain UI" At that point I was able to use some piece of Kodak software that came up. When I enabled the option to look for multiple pictures and told it to do a preview scan, it found all the pictures on the glass, but would only let me scan and save them one at a time, which defeats the purpose. I am also curious as to the advertised OCR program that it automatically uses, I have yet to see that option or see it described in any documentation.

Had this camera for over a year and I have never had a problem until today. I can't upload any photos into iPhoto. Message says it's not a supported format. The photos are .jpg and I can see them in the screen where you select photos for import.
