IPhoto '08 - tag multiple photos while writing

Hi,
I'd like to know whether it's possible to:
Select several photos (yellow frame) and write the keyword for these photos rather than selecting the keyword from keyword assistant. I do not want to use the keyword shortcuts either.
The former iPhoto '06 plugin for keywords was able to provide this function.
Thanks
n00b

This is from iPhoto Help:
*Assigning keywords or checkmarks to a photo*
Keywords are labels you can add to your photos so you can easily find all the photos in a specific category.
You can also give photos a checkmark. This makes it easy to mark all the photos that you want to add keywords to later, or that you want to consider for a specific project, such as a book.
To assign keywords or checkmarks:
Select the photo or photos you want to add a keyword or checkmark to.
Choose Window > Show Keywords.
To stop viewing the keywords, choose View > Keywords again.
You can select multiple photos and follow the above procedure. You can create your own keyword by clicking on "edit keyword" and then on the plus sign.

    Question
I can no longer (since upgrading to the latest firefox) open up multiple tabs of the same page (something I need to be able to do when emailing and referencing multiple emails while writing one email). The only option it gives me is to 'switch to tab'.

I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. (Yes, my 'tools'> 'options'> 'tabs' are set to "open new windows in a new tab." (Please no answers telling me to get rid of the Ask toolbar because I don't have one.) Thank you.

  • Selecting multiple photos while scrolling...

How do I select multiple photos and scroll down my photo album page at the same time on iPhoto?

Just figured this out while getting used to a new MacBook Pro
Using the Multi-Touch Gesture feature, you can easily scroll up and down your iPhoto Library with the two-finger scroll on the trackpad while holding down the Command button to select non-adjacent photos.

  • Using iphoto and editing multiple photos in photoshop

I set iphoto to edit my photos in photoshop. I tried to edit a group of photos at once, and it'll only open the first 4 pictures. Is there a reason I can't open more than the first 4 photos that I have selected? Is there a setting in photoshop I need to change that is preventing me from opening more photos?
    Thanks!

As Larry said that's a "limitation" of iPhoto. Report that to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. I think you can go back to iPhoto and select another 4 photos and open them in PS with the original 4 still open.
    For what it's worth:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Multiple photos while importing

I went to HP's FAQ and it said that multiple photos would not be imported, but I starter to import from my camera, and it started to import all 366 of them, until I cancelled it real quick.  If it would import them separtely from the original photos I would not mind, then I could just delete the ones that were duplicates at one time, but I don't want to have to go beside each original 366 times to delete each picture separately.   Any ideas how I might get this done.  Is there a setting somewhere I can put in, not to import duplicate photos??? Thanks a lot for your help...

I have an idea for how to fix this, although I'm not 100% certain it will work, I'll throw it out there anyway.
Usually when a duplicate photo is imported, there's a suffix added to the filename, like "-001" or "-copy." So the filename would look something like "IMG_9673-001.jpg."
Go to the folder where the duplicates are located and type that suffix into the search box, then hit Enter. Windows should sort the files based on which files contain that suffix. Then you can highlight all the duplicates and delete them in one step, rather than having to do them individually.
You will probably have to do this multiple times because it sounds like you have a lot of duplicates. Keep searching for "002," "003," etc. and deleting them until all the dupes are gone. Be careful to avoid deleting any originals because it's possible they might have an "001" somewhere in their filename.
Now, to avoid importing the same photos over and over, I would suggest clearing your memory card of all old files after every time you upload. If you let me know the camera model and what software you're using to upload I can give you more info on how to do this. If you don't want to delete the old photos, again, please tell me which camera you're using, which software, and your upload method (ex. memory card reader, or using a data cable to connect the camera).
Please click the thumbs up button to say "Thanks!"

  • Can iPhoto app share multiple photos at once to my photo stream?

I would like to share multiple edited photos from iPhoto to my camera roll but it only allows me to select one at a time... I find that to be kinda crazy when I have 8 photos to export... Every other sharing option allows me to select and share multiple at open time.
    Thanks for your help, Jason

I'm experiencing the same problem on my iPad 2. No problem selecting mutliple photos, but when I try to share them to the Camera Roll, this option is greyed out. I don't have this problem when I share to iTunes. Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Taking a photo while writing a new mail

Many times I am writing a new mail to someone and I want to take a photo and attach it to the mail. I can do this by taking photo in Photo Booth and dragging it to mail but was wondering if there is a easy way to just do it from the email itself. I was hoping that someone has written a script that would just take a picture and attache it to the email.
    thanks

  • IPhoto - cannot view multiple photos & my thumbnails are gone

When I open iPhoto, suddenly it is only showing 1 photo at a time; my multiview is completely gone, as is the scrollbar of thumbnails at the top.   I tried going to View>Thumbnails, but the options under that are light gray and non-clickable.
I don't remember doing anything unusual recently, although iPhoto may have gotten an update a few days ago.  Also, I should add that my MacBook's memory is pretty full; I'm not sure if that matters here or not.
Does anyone have any idea about how I can get my multiview & thumbnails back?

Thank you, TD!  I noticed that right after I posted; I must have accidentally changed it without noticing.  It does correct the problem.  I also realized the thumbnail scrollbar is only in the editing stage.  <shakes head>  Okay, thank you.  I will be back the next time I can't figure out a basic task.

  • How can I move pictures to different folders while browsing in fast-preview (space)? Can I make any keyboard-shortcuts to move or tag a photo while looking at the pictures in this mode?

When I look at the thumbnails in finder, I press enter to look at the picture. And I scroll down to look at the other pictures. I want to move or delete the images when I look at them this way... Any suggestions? I would think that there was a program for this...?
    Thanx in advance!

    GraphicConverter can do that.
When you drop a folder full of image files onto GraphicConverter, it automatically opens them all in a catalog-style window. You can then select each in turn and use keyboard shorcuts to move the selected one to a target folder of your choice. I believe you can have up to 30 different target folders preset for this purpose.
GC also provides a host of other file manipulation features.

  • Iphone remove multiple photos

how do you remove large amounts of photos from iPhone?  I see no way of doing this from iPhone itself..
and when I connect iPhone to my MacBook Pro I cannot see it in Finder or anywhere else (********)
    here
    http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/05/28/how-to-delete-old-photos-from-iphone-cam era-roll/
it says you can do it by hitting "share" button in camera roll, but I don't see how you can select multiple photos then delete them...
my gosh, will I have to connect the Iphone to a windows machine because I can't do this with mac OS?
I don't know what this says about mac OS, but it's not something very smart or practical at all...
I simply cannot understand at all the mac os rationale for this..   either the iPhone or my Nikon camera, when I connect them to the mac I cannot see them in either the Finder, in Adobe Bridge, in iPhoto, or any other program..  this is nothing short of idiotic -- and a huge pain in the ***..

Well, as I am sure you found out, if you want to delete multiple photos while on your phone, you go to the camera roll...accessed by opening the camera app, hitting the button on the bottom left that lets you see the photos you have taken and then hitting the 'camera roll' button on the upper left. Now you will see a grid of your photos. The "share" button is the one on the bottom middle that is a box (or rectangle) with an arrow going from left to right. Click on this and then you will see the top of the screen will have the heading, "Select Photos". Just click on the photos you want to delete. It will highlight them and give them a red check in the lower right hand corner of each chosen image. When you are happy with your selection, press the 'delete' button on the bottom right.
For deleting more than 20 - 30 images at once, this method is just SOOO annoying and inefficient to me. The only other ways I have found (within OSX) is to go to iphoto while your phone is hooked up to your computer and if all your photos on your iPhone have been imported, a button in the middle of the window of the iPhoto app will say "Remove Photos from [your phone's name]" You can click on this and it will delete ALL of the photos on your phone. It is all or nothing because there is no option (that I can find...or that there is any documentation to date) while in OSX that allows you to select photos and delete them in large groups or specifically. It is ridiculous.
Otherwise, and there is documentation on other threads, you can hook your iPhone up to a pc and there is a program that (however equally annoying) should automatically pop up (camera and scanner wizard) and you can choose like you should be able to choose in OSX, large groups of photos to delete.
Likely one other way is to access the iphone like a hard drive (also through pc) and just delete the files in the explorer (= pc "finder"). I have no clue why this is so difficult since the main purposes of an iPhone or the main uses of an iPhone are pretty straight forward: (1) use as a phone, (2) use as a camera (3) use as a iPod & (4) use for Facebook (ha)...
In any case, if anyone can enlighten me further and better my info, I would be much obliged because this present methodology is just not intuitive or, more importantly, offering a simple usability feature that should exist.

  • Lightroom 4 Keywording Multiple Photos

I'm in library mode and trying to add the same series of keywords to a group of about 60 photos.  All these photos are highlighted at the bottom of my screen but one photo appears to be highlighted more brightly.  I've typed in a group of keywords in my sidebar and then clicked enter.  I thought that action should tag all 60 photos with the same keywords but it doesn't.  Only the brightly highlighted photo gets the keywords.  Surely there has to be a way to tag multiple photos with the same keywords all at once.  I've watched Cris Orwig's video on Adobe and am following the same steps he demonstrates but the keywords are only tagged to the one photo.  Am I missing something simple here?
    Thank you
    Mark

I just reviewed http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-lightroom-5/adding-keywords/ in which Chris Orwig clearly shows adding keywords to multiple images in the filmstrip, NOT in the grid view.  Of course, MY Lightroom doesn't allow me to add keywords to multiple images using the method shown in this video.  And just an added note that this is the EXACT same video shown under the label "learn-lightroom-4/adding-keywords/ so I don't know if this could be done in v4 but not in v5 and someone just screwed up by reusing the same video.....  Thanks Jim Wilde and everyone else for your help.  I was starting to pull my hair out.

  • Applying relative curve changes to multiple photos

Is there a way to apply same changes to the tonal curve to multiple photos while keeping their curve shapes relatively intact? For example, I want to make all Darks and Shadows 20 points lower. I know I can't make it with a preset as it contains absolute, not relative figures. I want something like Quick Develop (which are relative) except applied to the curve itself. Perhaps there's a mass edit plugin?
