IPhoto 08 unable to upgrade or load older backed up iPhoto 06 library
Hi, I've been looking at posts for a couple of hours for a similar issue, but nothing seems exactly the same to me. We have been using iPhoto 08 for quite some time. Prior to upgrading to iPhoto 08 (from iPhoto 06), I had several iPhoto libraries...some backed up to external drives. Now I want to see some photos from one of those older, backed up libraries. When I try to open it in iPhoto 08, it says I need to upgrade the library. Fair enough. So I click Continue and then I immediately get a an error message saying the library is damaged and unreadable. If I use Terminal to examine the contents of the iPhoto directory...it seems everything is there (jpgs, AlbumData.xml...etc) and I can copy a jpg out of there and open it individually. So the data seems to be there. And AlbumData.xml is pointing to an existing location. But iPhoto 08 can't upgrade the library. What gives? If I try to run iPhoto Library Manager, once I get by the selection screen it again tells me I need to upgrade and I get the same "unreadable" error so that doesn't seem to work. I suppose I could copy all the jpgs out manually and reimport them, but that seems like a lot of work as there are thousands of photos. Any ideas?

It sounds like the database file is damaged. (And by the way, that's not the AlbumData.xml file. That file is used for Sharing. The actual db file in a v6 Library is the library6.iphoto file)
As iPhoto Library Manager can't do the job, I fear your next move is a manual re-build of the LIbrary:
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Go into the damaged iPhoto Library and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I don't know if you are still having the issue but if you are have you contacted your ISP? It sounds to me like it's more of a connectivity issue than a browser problem. I've dealt with similar things several times and in both cases it was something with the modem or an ISP setting.
I'm also wondering if it could be a Wi-Fi issue. Can you log in to your router? (It varies by brand but you would go to a site such as http://192.168.10.1. That is for Trendnet. The information for yours should be in the documentation that came with it.)
You should be able to get the router log in page to come up even if you can't connect to any websites. (Provided the network is set up correctly.)
I also would double check your connection settings (if you're connecting over Wi-Fi) or your ethernet connection. (If you're connected directly to the modem and router.)

I bought the ilife '11 iphoto upgrade. It was supposed to update my library. It has been 2 days and it is still loading. I have tried restarting with no change. Please help!
Make a back up now.
Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
Then go on to Option 2

I would like to install BBC iPlayer but AIR is unable to upgrade from 2.5.1.17330
I am unable to install i Player because AIR is unable to upgrade to the latest version
I have tried upgrade AIR without iPlayer, and that runs into the same problems with Adobe AIR installer
I have tried uninstalling Air completely, in order to start from scratch, but that is refused saying that I should contact my administrator.
I am the admministrator.
Consequently I appear to be stuck with AIR version 2.5.1.17730 and cannot load the BBC iPlayer desktop.

I've just upgraded ID from CC to CC 2014 and now a script that had always run without issue now won't work. I get an error saying 'Unable to load Adobe InDesign CC 2014 Type Library (Version 1.0)'
The bit of code I was running was executing a little VB script copying files:

From trawling the net I can see stuff about the 'Resources for Visual Basic.tlb' file. I can see this in the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\InDesign\Version 10.0\en_GB\Scripting Support\10.1 folder but clearly it isn't registered or something similar.

Do you mean copy the 'Resources for Visual Basic.tlb' into the Version 9 folder?
If so I already have the file in there: "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\InDesign\Version 9.0\en_US\Scripting Support\9.0\Resources for Visual Basic.tlb" as well as the file in this location: "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\InDesign\Version 10.0\en_US\Scripting Support\10.1\Resources for Visual Basic.tlb"
The only difference between the 2 installs that I can see is that v10 also has a locale for en_GB. -
Unable to upgrade this photo library?
I just installed iLife 'o6. When I start iPhoto I get a message saying "The photo library needs to be upgraded needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." I click on upgrade and then get a message saying "Unable to upgrade this photo library because the current user does not have access. If possible, repair permissions for the iPhoto Library Folder and try again". How do I do this. There are only two users for this iMac G5 and we both have full permissions.

This is what I needed help with. I found that I had about 10 or so locked images and had to restart iPhoto each time it found a locked file (very tedious). But it WORKED!! Thanks
I found a way to search your iPhoto Library to find he locked files:
1. Open Terminal (located in Application/Utilities)
2. type in "find " (include space)
3. Drag your iPhoto Library folder into the Terminal window. This will add the directory location to the find (e.g. "find /Users/john/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/")
4. Add "-flags uchg" at the very end of it. Be sure there is no space at the end
find /Users/john/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/ -flags uchg
Hit return amnd you should get a list of where the images are.

What's the user experience if he/she upgrade from an older version of Firefox, where an existing plugin was ready enabled, would this plugin become "ask to activate" after the user upgrade to Firefox v26?
If plugins.click_to_play was set to true, it might. I am finding that click-to-play is not working very well with Firefox. Whether the plugins are set to Always Activate or Ask to Activate, it allows everything from a website to load once it is allowed from the icon in the address bar. I also have the extension Click to play per-element, and that seems to make no difference.

I have been working on 6 ibooks over the past year, documenting a lot of stuff for user manuals for our school. The ibooks were all created in iBA version 1.0, but are not published - we only use them internally so we just use the previews.
I gave up trying to upgrade my 1.0 iBooks, it takes too long to 'optimize' the files when I try to open them in 2.0. I have read all the issues with iBA 2.0, but decided to download 2.0 on another computer and wabt to try to re-write all my old 1.0 manuals (I have all the files that went into them).
However, when I double-click to open the 2.0, nothing happens. So I go to 'File' and select 'New from Template Chooser'. I then get the window with all the new templates, including the portrait ones. When I select any template, say the 5th one for example, I get the prompt "The document 'Textbook 05.ibatemplate' could not be upgraded. Unable to upgrade from version 0". This happens for every template. I don't understand. I downloaded the 2.0 from the app store onto a 'clean' computer. Yes, it has Lion on it and all the spec requirements to run iBA. Can anyone help me with what to do next?Did you ask Apple for help yet?

Using Audition 2.0 on Windows XP platform. Now have Windows 8.1 on new computer and need to upgrade and load latest version of Audition. Any suggestions? Many thanks, R.
VC6. is rather old, but you can try to convert the VC6 project using the upgrade wizard of VC2012. Depending on the content of the project your code will work more or less without problems, at least it will compile without errors.
You could also go the 2nd way and create in VC2012 a project type using the wizard that is very similar to your current VC6 projcet (MDI, SDI, Dialog Based, ...). Than you replace the files generated by the wizard with the content of your project. Sometimes
this way is more successful.
But at all the automated converting success depends on the code of your VC6 project. I had both, conversions without big problems and also conversions that need a lot changes to run on a current VC version.

Unable to upgrade Camera Raw with CS4 in Lion...

very frustrating; I have been unable to upgrade Camera Raw despite several attempts.
I've downloaded the latest version as an upgrade; I've done Software upgrades through PhotoShop, but for some
reason these do not seem to have taken, ie., the version of ACR in Bridge preferences remains 5.0.
This makes it impossible for the computer (a brand new MacBook Pro) to read or convert to DNG raw files
from a Nikon D300S.
Oddly, ACR 5.0 converts raw files from a D700 just fine.
Also puzzling is that my attempt to upgrade to ACR 5.7 in a 5 month old iMac have been smooth as silk (OS 10.6.7)

Stu RosnerAt one point, I was one of the most vocal critics of camera raw in the CS4 / Lightroom v2 days. In short, I felt that there was not enough control over noise reduction and fine detail rendition when processing digital camera raw files, especially at higher ISOs, although I had been quite pleased with earlier versions. That all changed when CS5 / LR v3 was released. You now have an enormous amount of control over exactly how much sharpening and how much noise reduction will be applied to an image. The amount of fine detail one can extract from a low-ISO raw file is extraordinary. When you crank up the ISO and an image gets noisy, you now can choose whether or not you prefer a smoother look at the expense of some of the more subtle texture details, or a slightly grainier look where one has a feeling that no significant fine details are lost from the original capture (what I prefer). The raw processing defaults in Adobe's latest software are good starting points, but for my personal tastes, I generally do modify them a bit with less NR and slightly more sharpening at a smaller radius.
Even out-of-camera JPEG files will benefit from the new processing engine. I find that turning down the sharpening and NR in-camera, and then applying some subtle tweaking in LR, for example, makes for much better looking images even when starting from a JPEG. If you are a raw shooter, like I am, then upgrading to the latest Photoshop and Lightroom is absolutely 100% worthwhile in my opinion!
I personally feel that the quality of raw conversions in Adobe's latest software are pretty much the best there are. I have used many other raw converters (Capture One, Aperture, RAW Developer, Silky Pix, Canon's DPP etc.), and while each have their strengths, overall I far prefer the look of the final image from Adobe's latest software. Sure, I might find the colour rendition slightly better, in some cases, from some other raw converters, but colour I can fix. Poor detail rendition or heavy-handed/crude noise reduction I cannot.
EDIT: Also should mention how good the lens correction controls are. Not only are there automatic lens corrections available (possibly of limited use with an M8 due to potential lack of lens EXIF information), but the manual corrections are extremely useful. Chromatic aberration, vignetting, highlight fringing and distortion control all work extremely well and are minimally harmful to image quality, unlike performing those same corrections in Photoshop after the raw conversion stage. You also have excellent perspective corrections that, amazingly enough, seem to have very little impact on image quality even when fairly dramatic adjustments are made.
Lastly, I own both Noise Ninja and Topaz DeNoise and since upgrading to Adobe's latest software, I don't think I have felt the need to use either of those two third party NR plugins once. Purely from a noise reduction standpoint, upgrading to CS5 or LR v3 is almost like getting a new camera, almost like moving from a cropped sensor to a full-frame as far as high-ISO image quality.
I would suggest you download Lightroom v3 and give the 30 trial version a whirl. Spend some time in the Detail section of the Develop module and make sure that for each image you are looking at, ones that you may have edited in previous versions of Camera Raw or Lightroom, that you have "2010(Current)" chosen in the "Process:" section of the CameraCalibration tab in Develop. That will ensure that you are fully benefitting from the latest raw conversion engine. Zoom in to 100% before you tweak the Detail settings to make sure you are seeing actual pixel-level detail. I think you may be amazed at what you can do...

I am using oracle 8i client, I want to user sql loader with direct path, but it fetch some error with ORA-02371: Loader must be at least version 9.0.0.0.0 for direct path.
Is it possible to access sql loader with direct path in 8i.
Please help.
AnandI just checked the Utilities manual and version 8.1 supports direct path; however the error indicates that direct path is not supporte for the 8.1 sqlldr program and a 10g target database.

So upgrading the utility or using a conventional load are your only options. To upgrade I would think you would need to install the entire client. Note - you should be able to install into a new home and have multiple versions of the client available. You will just have to make sure the correct $ORACLE_HOME and search path are followed to run programs using the correct modules.
Again what makes you think the rest of your application will not run on a 9.2 or 10g client?
Are your sure conventional path is not fast enough? The bindsize and readsize parameters can be used to improve conventional path performance.

Unable to upgrade WLC on SRE to 7.4.121.0
Hi
I am unable to upgrade one of my WLC on SRE to 7.4.121.0. I keep getting TFTP or FTP failure while storing in flash. The WLC is currently running 7.2.110.0 and is running on a SRE 700 module in a 2951 router.
I have tried with both TFTP and FTP and I have redownloaded the file from Cisco. I am using tftpd32 on Windows XP and it is allowed from the firewall. When I perform the transfer it shows in the TFTPd32 log as successful.
Could someone please suggest how I can get this to work please?
