Iphoto 08 using with 2 computers?

I am using iphoto 08 I started putting photos on my mac laptop as I am running out of space on my imac......I thought I would be able to see the library on the other computer....but no
is there a way to set this up?

There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running Then on the other machine, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both machines for this to work.

If you have lion and iPhoto '11 (latest version is 9.2.1) you can set up and turn on iCloud there and if you have IOS 5 on your mobile then your mobile devices will sync with your Mac

Somewhat much later query but I do have a related one. I've purchased my iPad 2 in India in October past. Using an adaptor for Canada I seem to have no problems charging it. Now I'm travelling to Chile and I see there is a 'similarity' in the two prongs on the electrical cord which came with the iPad (India) AND a similar pair of dual prongs used in Chile. I note Chile also uses a 3 - prong (horizontal) outlet. Query - Should I have any concern re the different currents used ; Canada 120V - 60 Hz versus Chile 220 - 50 Hz, or as noted earlier the iPad takes care of that with its built in converter. What is the problem? What happens when you try to update your current iPhoto version at the App Store? and what is your current iPhoto version?
If you are currently using any version of iPhoto '11, version 9.x.x, use the Software Update tab, and if your version is older and not iPhoto '11, use the first tab at the App Store and purchase the upgrade to iPhoto 9.6.

Can Iphoto be used with the photos already stored on my current ext hard drive?

I have stored thousands of photos on my passport external hard drive over the years.
Recently I bought an Imac and I like the idea of using iPhoto as the program, however I would like to keep all my photos on my external hard drive. These current photos have been organised in folders already.
How can I start using iPhoto so that it sees my current photos on this ext hard drive? (I've already reformatted my passport to OS/X journaled)
Any specific help would be much appreciated.

first off - I'm not sure where you got the idea that a referenced library is recommended - it is not - in fact it is very strongly NOT recommended - re-resd the link I gave you - expecially
At face value, and especially for new users and folks who are migrating from Windows or Linux systems the second, Referenced mode seems more attractive.
It's not. It really should be avoided, especially by those to whom it's most attractive - the inexperienced user.
And you really are not understanding how iphoto works
iPhoto is not a photo viewer - it is a SQLite Database program and can only work with photos imported into its database - see iPhoto and File Management for more information
I'm guessing you are looking inside the iPhoto library - you never ever go into the contents of the iPhoto library
iPhoto totally replaces the finder (a file manager rather than a photo manager ) for the photos you import - if you want to manage and access files then you can not use iPhoto - you need a different photos system

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe mode:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox

There's a problem with Adobe Flash, media, etc. and other Adobe programs, (which I use for downloading boarding passes for airlines, etc.) so basically I have to delete these other Adobe programs, besides the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard if I want to 7.0 Standard to work. I periodically download the updates, but there's still a problem. My question is: Can or should I purchase another program to update the present Adobe Acrobat 7.0 standard, or just buy a new program such as the Adobe 11? Am I mistakenly doing something wrong, such as when I download? I'm an old valued customer so I don't want to spend a lot of money since I am replacing my Dell XP for a new computer now, and my other computer is a Dell Vista.
I'd appreciate your valued advice.

If you are getting a new computer (for a PC it would have Win 7 or 8), then you will need to purchase XI if you wish to continue using Acrobat. Acrobat 7 is not compatible with these systems (and probably the same for MAC systems), though sometimes workarounds are possible, though not easy to use. I guess the answer is to buy the new version. Try http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software _sl_mostpopular.html, click on the Buy for Acrobat, and then select the version you want.

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

They changed my screen but in 2 months it happened 3 times and i wanted them to change my iMac with new one, under customer laws... In our country, the device must be changed with new one if the same problem occurs in 3 months. Because i know the customer satisfaction of Apple, i didn' worry about it but Bilkom refused my will... I spoke with them for 2 months but nothing happened, they just told me, it' not our problem.
Because of this speech, i sued them on June 2011... Last week, i won the case but just for the return of invoince... It costs 3.200 Turkish Liras (1.800$) and there's no 24" iMac unused... Bilkom again refused to give me an iMac... I thought that Apple's customer satisfaction can't be like this... I didn't write anything to Apple till now but if i can't get an iMac, i must return to normal PC after 2 years... And i don't want that... I offered an iMac 27" with core i7... No matter Bilkom accepts or not, they don't care of me... I'm a customer, they should do... I've never seen such a like company. I hope the real Apple will help my problem and save me from Bilkom...

Although, it appears that your problem is with a third party store and that you have won in court - did you get your money back? 24" iMacs have not been made since 2009 or 2010. Now there are 21" and 27" iMacs.
