IPhoto '09 how to group package photos?

Is there a way in iPhoto ('09, v8.1.2 on my Intel 24" desktop iMac) to somehow "group package" 4 or 5 individual photos so that I can upload this "single" file to, in this case, one of the online photo printing companies to fit their "single photo" card template?  I'm trying to put maybe 4 photos side-by-side in a blank 4x8" photo card.  The upload wizard allows "one photo" in Shutterfly for this particular card and size and their tech support says I can game this "one photo" upload by "group packaging" my 4 individual JPEG snapshots.  Sounds promising, but how do I do this?  Put my 4 photos in a folder and upload the folder, or ??

Yes.  Export them to a folder on the desktop and: 1 - add the folder to the email or 2 - Control (right) - click on the folder and select Compress "XXXX" from the contestual menu.  That will zip the folder and files which can be added to the email.  The recipient will have to unzip the file to access the folder and image file.

Don't you mean Photos or are you still using iPhoto with 10.10.3?
Normally one gets the preview version of a photo or the edited version if it's been edited when dragging from a thumbnail to the Desktop.  Don't know how you would have gotten small thumbnail versions.

  • Iphoto Books: How to Enable "fit photo to frame size" when theme grays it out by default

Don't know if this has been posted before or not, but I've been using the "Modern" Theme in iPhoto books and trying for the life of me to figure out how to get my photos to not crop while they're in a single-photo framed layout (I'm not using 4:3 photos; mine are 8.5" by 11"). Even fully zoomed out my photos cut off at the top and bottom. I knew about the "fit photo to frame size" option but the theme had it greyed out--except for on one page, in which it was already enabled. So I must have done it before without paying attention, but it took forever to figure out how to do it again.
    Here's how:
    1. Open up the page you want to modify. I'm assuming here that your photos are already placed, but if not, place the photo you want to use.
    2. Click the Layout tab.
    3. Change the layout to the single page full bleed option--no frame. Your photo should now be blown up across the page.
    4. Right click the photo. The "fit photo to frame size" option should now be available for you to check off. Go ahead and activate it.
    5. Change the layout back to the single photo framed option. Your photo will now fit inside the frame, although to truly see the whole thing you have to open up the Options tab and select the borderless option.
To save time in steps 1-3, and step 5, you can also change the layout of all your pages at once by clicking page 1 (not the cover, the next page), then opening the Layout tab, then selecting the layout you want. You still have select the "fit photo to frame size" individually for each photo.
Hope this is useful for people.

There is an option for the Initial View that is "Magnification:" "Fit Page".  And this works for the initial page when the PDF is opened and it does not matter what the page size it, Acrobat/Reader will automatically fill the screen with the page. If you want the zoom type to change with each page then you need  add a page open script to each page to set the pages zoom type to "zoomtype.fitP"
    this.zoomType = zoomtype.fitP;

  • If I install iPhoto 8 how will my existing photos be organised, i.e events?

I am thinking of upgrading to iLife 8 but before I do that I want to be sure that nothing bad will happen to my existing iPhoto library stored on an external drive. I have around 5000 photos! How will the new version deal with organising the photos I already have stored in the library in albums, folders etc. Will they get put into events and if so how will this work given that they go back over nearly 3 years? Will my current chronological order get messed up?
I am hoping that all of the above will not be problematic as I would like to start using iLife 8 soon.
    thanks.

Just make sure the copy on the external HD is current and then convert your working library to iPhoto 8. If anything goes wrong you can copy the backup over to the Pictures folder and try again. Once you've got the library converted and running under V08 replace the backup on the external HD with the newly converted iPhoto 08 version. Then you can use a backup application like Synk to make incremental backups (i.e. only new or changed files are copied to the backup version) each day.
Also see the tip at the end of my signature for another layer of protection for your library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • With the new iphoto update, how do i delete photos from iPhoto?

how to delete unwanted photos from iPhoto on a  mac with new update?

You're referring to the new Photos application and its library, right.
Control (right) - click on the photo you want to delete and select Delete X photos from the contextual menu:
Next, use the File ➙ Show Recently Deleted menu option to go a window with all of the deleted photos that haven't been finally removed from the library.
Either use the Delete All button or select just those you want to finally remove completely.
This window is a safety net so you can undelete photos that have been accidentally deleted.

  • IPhoto 11: How to view "all photos" while in full screen mode

In iPhoto, when it's not in full screen mode, if you click photos in the sidebar (under Library), you get a nice view of ALL your photos, and you have the option to sort them by event. When you go from this view straight to full screen mode, it stays this way, which in my case is particularly useful since I like to move photos around from event to event. However, staying in full screen mode, as soon as I click an any other of the menus at the bottom (events, faces, places, albums, projects), I cannot find anyway to get back to the "all photos" view, other than to take it OUT of full screen mode, click on "Photos" in the side bar, and then go back to full screen mode. Either I am missing something that is glaringly obvious, or this is a rather annoying oversight by Apple. It seems like it would be natural to have "Photos" be one of the options along with Events, Faces, Places, Albums and Projects in full screen mode. Right now the only work around I've been able to come up with (aside from going back and forth with fullscreen mode), and to hit "command F" while in full screen mode, and then type "i", which will give me what I am want only because all my photos start with "i". Not a very elegant work around, I know, but perhaps I am missing something very obvious.
    Thanks for any advice!
    James

In case my description isn't clear, here is a screenshot of exactly the view in full screen mode I am talking about  that I can't seem to return to once I leave it, other than to go back to non full screen mode or use the search trick.

  • IPhoto 11, how do I view photos that are not assigned to any album?

I am trying to orginize my photo library (iPhoto 11) a bit better. I have 7,500 photos and I'm looking to find which ones are not in any album. I saw sugesstions for iPhoto 09 where you can make a smart folder for that very situation, however I don't see that ability in 11. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • IPhoto 11 - How can I import photos from my hard drive keeping the folders the way they are?

I recently went from PC to Mac.  I transferred thousands of photos, many of which I had in albums.  When I imported them into iPhotos, it didn't seem to preserve my albums, unless I'm not seeing something.  Is there a way to do that?

To begin with we only have words to communicate with on this forum so it is critical that we use the same ones
in iPhoto you have a library which can be views as events, photos, places or faces  --  events and photos view show all photo in your library and faces and places show only thos that have faces or places assigned
albums are logical entities that are pointers to the photos in the library and are used for organization
folders are logical entities that hold albums or other folders and also are used for organization
The photos (by default and recommended) are copies into th eiPhoto library with is a SQL database. you ony access the photos using the iPhoto program or the media browser which is in the lower left hand corner of each open/attach/upload window
If you drag a folder of photos onto the open iPhoto window it will import them and create an event names the same as the folder  if you drag the foldr of photos to the source pane on the left it will import them into an event and create an album
The biggest problem most windows users have is thinking of managing their photo with a database rather than the old way of managing files with  a file manager
iPhoto is much more powerful since you can serach the database on any criteria
    Hope this helps

  • In iPhoto Calendar, how to get a photo inserted in a day to repeat annually

I made an 18 months calendar from an iPhoto album.
For each family member's birthday, I am adding a picture of them on that day, as shown in the iPhoto Calendar demo.
Since this one covers 18 months, some months will be present for 2006 and 2007. I would like the pictures I insert on the days that are birthdays to automatically repeat the following year. Much like you click the Repeat option in iCal.
Right now it appears that the photos you insert in specific days do not have any repeat options. Anyone found a way to do this?
Thanks very much for any help.
    Bo

    John:
You should be able to just drag a photo from the photo tray on the left into the box for a date. Just click on the photo icon on the right and you'll get the tray. You'll need, of course, to have a number of photos selected for the calendar.

Hi! My name is Tom from San Diego, CA. I have the exact same question as you. That is, I would like to be able to print out a photo from iphoto with the date that picture was taken displayed on the face of it. In this way, someone looking at that picture in a photo album years later would know when it was taken. Did you ever find a method to print copies of photos out of iphoto with the date displayed on the print? Thanks for your help!

How do I arrange photo albums by date like the old iPhoto?
You can only arrange albums by name or manually. So you would have to make the data a part of the name, if you want to sort by date. It might help to group the albums in folders by year or so.
