Iphoto '09 os x10.6.x screensaver

I'm running OS X10.6.8 on an Intel Mini and have iPhoto '09 installed. An attempt to integrate an iPhoto album into Screensaver (Sys. Prefs) fails. I don't see iPhoto displayed, only the default apple offerings. Clicking the "+" to select a folder has iPhoto library grayed out in Pictures folder. Sadly, this is a recent problem as the iPhoto link to Screensaver/Desktop photo worked in the past.

Do you see your iPhoto Library in other other applications in the Media Browser (iMovie, iWeb, Preview, Mail, Pages, ...) or not at all? If the Media Browser does not show it in any applications, repair your iPhoto Library with the Library First Aid: Launch iPhoto with both the command+option keys firmly held down and select "Repair database" from the First Aid panel.

  • NO iPhoto Library showing in Desktop and Screensaver Menu in SL

    Hi experts,
I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.
I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09 library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
    Thanks!!!

I have the same thing. I wiped everything clean and installed Snow Leopard/iLife '09/etc. I run my iPhoto lib from an Airdisk and I just set iPhoto to point to that same library on the wireless disk. Everything works fine, except I can't set iPhoto pics as my desktop. I see a label for iPhoto (just like when it used to work) except there's no arrow by it and it's empty. If I plug the computer straight into the disk and use the same library, it works fine. Any thoughts?

  • Why is my iPhoto library greyed out in the Screensaver folder selection dialog on one iMac but not my other?

Why is my iPhoto library greyed out in the Screensaver folder selection dialog on one iMac but not my other?

I have an update to my issue above, with a Semi-solution found. I brought my Macbook Air back to the Genus bar today and they were able to identify (using “Activity Monitor”) that when the particular iPhoto library was being launched through iPhoto both Photostream and iPhoto's CPU% usage was excessively high (between 100% - 200% each). She discovered that if we turn off Photostream in iCloud settings iPhoto then behaved fast and snappy and CPU% came back down to a healthier level. When we turned Photostream back on the problem continued. After an hour of trying to trouble shoot why Photostream was causing the issue they recommended I keep Photostream turned off until a future software update/fix comes out. The particular Genus I worked with was not familiar with this issue. I’m very happy to at least be able to use iPhoto again, but if anyone has ideas or theories on how the Photostream conflict can be fixed please share. Thanks.

  • Iphoto library lost but still in screensaver??!!

Hello all. Not sure what kind of issue this is.. The other day I left the room for 45 min and when I returned my computer mysteriously defaulted back to settings it had by the previous owner.. My bookmarks were gone, screensaver, wallpaper, itunes, and iphoto library were wiped out!! However now when the new default screensaver kicks in (photo slideshow), it shows all the old photos I had before. My photo library is still empty, but there they are. I can't open the 2008 folder in the screensaver options list to access those old photos individually. Is there any way to access these? They are on my ipod as well, but I can't view them on the monitor for some reason when it's hooked up.. only on the ipod screen itself. This totally ***** and I have no idea what caused this to happen.

Thanks for responding. No, everything is the same. It was as though there was some sort of "restore settings" option of some kind that was initiated. I had to re-register for yahoo msgr. for example and had to click the option for opening iphoto every time I connected a digital camera, etc.. like I was using these apps for the first time and setting preferences. There was no power failure at the house or anything like that. I have all those old photos on my ipod too but I cant look at them on my monitor when I connect it and I don't know why. I wish i could just upload all my ipod content into my itunes again but it doesn't let you do that even though I'm the registered user. I can only sync with current photo library which i don't want since there is nothing in it after the "crash". AARGHH!!

  • How do I see different iPhoto events on my Apple TV screensaver?  I was able to see all my photos in the past, now the screensaver is only one particular event.

I was able to see all my photos previously.  When I click on Computers or Screensaver, an automatic download begins, but the same event keeps loading.

I know the exact theme/page you're referring to... you could create a book with that layout in iPhoto and then export the book as jpgs by selecting Print, then clicking the pdf button and select pdf to folder as jpeg. You can select just the one page by selecting the print from X to X page numbers inthe print dialog box. Just remember that the number on the page doesn't necessarily correspond to the actual page number--count the pages in the preview to determine which page you're on. iPhoto doesn't number the cover or intro page, but the print dialog counts them.
This will create a new jpg file that you can import to Aperture and use in an Aperture book on a full page bleed formatted page. I've used a combination of Pages and iPhoto layouts to create many of the books I've done and use the Print>PDF to folder as jpeg to export the files, which I then import as full page bleeds into Blurb's booksmart (don't care for many of their layouts). The only potential issue is the proportion isn't always the same, and the resolution from the pdf exports is a bit lower than I'd like--but if I'm using Blurb, their books are smaller, so it works out okay.

  • IPhoto albums not showing up in screensaver

I have just updated to iLife 09. Now when I go to system preferences - screen saver - pictures, my iPhoto albums no longer come up. I can only choose a folder called Pictures folder and it contains all of my iPhoto pictures. I cannot narrow it to one album or event that I have created.
Very odd thing...this is only occuring on my Macbook. My Mac Mini has everything in place.
Any suggestions or ideas of what I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Getting really frustrated. I replaced my iphoto library from a backup. Checked system preferences - screensaver and my iphoto library was there. Opened iphoto and it wanted to scan faces. Froze after about 20 min. Had to force quit - actually shut down. Opened iphoto and it started the scan process again. Checked system preferences - screensaver again. All was well. Back to iphoto while it was scanning - 17 min to go. iphoto unexpectantly quit. Checked system preferences, iphoto albums gone in screensaver. Everything in iphoto seems ok. All pictures, albums, events, etc. are there. Even deleted iphoto prefs like suggested for something else.
What else can I possibly do?

  • Can I make my iphoto library a screensaver that rotates repeatedly selecting randomly

I understand how to make one or more pictures my desktop picture.  But what I would like to do is have the pictures in my IPhoto library selected randomly be a screensaver that rotates across the screen when I am not using my computer.  How can I do that?

The available options for SceenSavers are found in the Desktop and Screen Savers Peference Pane. Yes the iPhoto Library is available for use by screensavers, but what exactly is done with them is a matter for the Screensaver options there.

  • Screensaver problem w/iPhoto.

This is very strange. I go to System Preferences, Desktop & ScreenSaver and choose an iPhoto album to run as a screensaver.
Some of the albums display the correct pictures, while other albums display pictures that are not in the selected album.
I have checked all of the albums in iPhoto and they are correct.
    Any ideas?

  • Where is screensaver getting iPhoto photos?

I have iPhoto '09 but have no used it in a long time. I have my screensaver set to pull photos from iPhoto. When I open iPhoto to see which area the screensaver is pulling from, there isn't anything in iPhoto. How does the screensaver know where to get photos in iPhoto is nothing is defined there?

I tried opening with Option and the only Library is the default. But I still do not see anything when iPhoto opens it.
I also double clicked the iPhoto Library in users/Pictures/. Same thing - nothing. However, there are lots of folders with date names in the Pictures folder. And these seem to be the same ones I see in the screensaver. But why doesn't the iPhoto Library file have them? That file size is 16.7MB.

  • Screen saver no longer respects iPhoto albums in 10.4.8?

System Preferences -> Desktop & Screen Saver -> Screen Saver offers a list of iPhoto albums. It used to be that the screen saver would display pictures from the selected album only. But now all my iPhoto pictures are rotated through the screen saver, regardless of album selection. The only thing I've changed AFAIK is the 10.4.8 upgrade. Any way to get the old behavior back?
(I've found other posts about problems with iPhoto and screen saver, but nothing addressing this precise problem.)
    PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPhoto 2.0.1

I just tried it, having also just updated (in fact I did about 12 updates all at once, including QuickTime, iPhoto 6.05 as well as the system update) and it worked as expected, just cycling thru the photos in the selected album.
I have seen cases in earlier versions of iPhoto and the OS where the screensaver wouldn't work when using System Prefs, but would it you selected it in iPhoto. Don't remember how the earlier version of iPhoto worked (I think there was a button in the toolbar at the bottom of iPhoto), the way it works in iPhoto 6 is very weird: you select an album, then select the photos, then go to the Share menu and select Desktop. It plasters all the photos onto your Desktop and launches the System Prefs where you can set the options for the Screensaver. You'll notice that instead of an album being selected there is a new folder in the top section called "iPhoto Selection." I then switched my Desktop back to its usual neutral gray and screensaver remained as I had set it. Truly goofy, but it might be worth a try.

  • Apple TV No Longer Displays My iPhotos After Recent Update

While I have had the Apple TV 2 for the past 18 months and have had no problem with it displaying my selected photos via iPhoto and the Cloud as a screensaver, it no longer loads nor shows my selected photos since the most recent Apple TV update. However, the screensaver shows the generic Apple photos, such as the preloaded photos from National Geographic, etc., yet I can not get it to show my personal photo stream, even though they are selected in the preferences. When I click on "preview" under the screen saver preferences, I am stuck with Apple's infamous "loading" icon.
Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any solutions? Your prompt an professional response would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same issue, though it isn't consistent. If I reset/power down, it works once then stops. I can get it to work with preview, tho sometimes it gets stuck loading. Usually, It just goes black.

  • Why is the screensaver stuck at "loading pictures" forever?

I have Aperture (latest version), with 80,000 photos, and Iphoto (latest version), with only 26 photos.  I've checked permissions and repaired my drives from the repair partition.  I've run Repair Permission, Repair Database, and Rebuild Database on Aperture, and Iphoto.  I've deleted the screensaver plist file via
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.screensaver.plist
No luck - screensaver still takes forever to start, and I can't even change the screensaver settings - it's just hung at "loading photos".  I'm on Mavericks now, but this has been happening since Mountain Lion I believe.
    Anything else I can try?

If that does not work try here:

  • Did Apple change the screensaver settings?

I use to be able to choose one of my iPhoto album to use as the screensaver. In the past week I've noticed that my screensaver settings is using the National Geographic photos and I'm unable to go back and select when of my iPhoto albums. Why?? Anyone else has the same issue? Any fix to it?

Thanks but this is no my issue. I can access the desktop and screensaver settings however I'm unable to choose one of my iPhoto albums as a screensaver as I used to. The only choices are National Geographic, Aerial, Cosmos and Nature Patterns. I used to be able to choose one of my iPhoto albums just like you can do in the desktop settings.
I do have the option to choose a folder on my computer but that means I have to duplicate photos from iPhoto to another location...I was hoping for a better solution. Not sure why Apple is doing this...

  • IPhoto & the screen saver

    Hi,
I would like the screen saver to just use the photos in iPhoto - not to use the exra photos in other folders in the Pictures fodler in my home directory. Is there something I can select that will just use the photos in iPhoto?
    Eric

    Eric
Yes, just select the iPhoto Library in the in the ScreenSaver Preference Pane in System Preferences.
