IPhoto '09: Pictures turn black when editing

Now I know there are several fixes for this, but it appears that none of them work.
I have a Kodak camera and I took the SD card out and put it in my iMac. I dragged the photos into iPhoto. The thumbnails looked fine, but when I click Edit or Slideshow, the photos are completely black. I tried rebuilding the library, using iPhoto Photo Manager, and manual rebuild, but it still happens.
Please help me!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you still have the photos on the memory card? If so drag them to a folder on your Desktop and see if you can open them with Preview.
If you don't have them on the memory card try exporting the files using the Original format, to a folder on the Desktop and try Preview on them. Report back with the results.

Why does my screen turn black when I play ITunes while working on iPhoto? I can't click off of the screen but get a message that reads Shut down computer by pressing button in back then turn computer back on by pushing button in back. That's followed by Chinese letters (which I cannot read). I have had other problems when playing iTunes (actually, a radio station on the Internet) while working on iPhoto. Before, I got a window that would pop up and tell me I had no disk space available, that I would have to quit applications that were open. Not many were open.
It would be nice if I could solve this problem once and for all.

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details since even your terminology is confusing. there are no "pages" in Photoshop. What you describe in vague terms could be anything from your target document having a different color mode/ color profile to some hardware acceleration issue, but we really can't make any sense of it based on your information.

Original picture turns black and white when adding layer masks.

Creating a collage. Just placed a new object with a layer mask. Now I need to create a hue/saturation, levels adjustment layer and color balance adjustment layer all with masks. Ok, no problem, but when I do this, my original picture turns black and white. HELP!!! School project and has to be completed by Monday morning.

You haven't added a Hue/Saturation layer that's got Saturation turned all the way down, by chance?
It might be helpful if you'd capture a screen grab and post it here, showing your layers and channels panels. With a look at how things are organized knowledgeable folks here should be able to help or at least ask more direct questions.

I think the answer to your "how long for the fix?" question will very much depend on a couple of things really:
1. The time taken in finding the problem and working up and testing a fix.
2. Where the problem lies. If it's a Lightroom problem, then in reality you'll be looking at the next dot release (5.4) at the earliest. Typically these are released every 3 months or so, which means another 6 weeks or so if normal scheduling is adhered to, and that would be assuming any fix could be incorporated in time. However, if the problem lies within PS I guess an earlier fix may be possible as I believe the CC model allows for updates to be shipped more frequently than in the past.
But all that is mere speculation on my part....and at the moment I've seen no official word from Adobe that the problem has been acknowledged.

The Ambient Light Sensor may be malfunctioning. Unfortunately there is not much you can do without tampering with the phone internally and voiding the warranty. Your best bet is to bring the phone to a local Apple Store and have them inspect it.

Premier Pro CC files in media browser turn black when I hover

I have uploaded files into a new project. In the media browser window I can see the thumbnails but they turn black when I hover over them.
From the project window it I double click on one it loads but I can only see black though I can hear the audio.
What have I done wrong??

I would have had the phone looked at long before a month of problems.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't help Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. You phone is under warranty and someone at an Apple store can help you.

My iPhone 5s did the same and my company sent me a new one. That one had the same problem. I am now being told by my company that it is an app that I have loaded that is not compatible with the IOS update. They sent me an iPhone6 and advised me to only add my apps one at a time to see which one is causing the problem. Verizon, I was told, has been working on the problem as well. Don't know if all this is true but sounded right to me.

When done editing, picture turns black

after I edit a picture, when I hit done, the picture turns completely black (both the thumbnail and the actual pic). Plus during editing effects (sepia tone, etc. are not available - no preview pic is offered.

Most are from a digital camera - just a point-and-shoot, no exotic format (I assume that is RGB). Others are jpeg from my wedding received from our photographer, but I assume they are nothing exotic either. The error happens when trying to edit either.

Pictures turn black, unable to edit

I recently downloaded iphoto '11 and sometimes when I scroll over a picture in turns black and I can't see it. Alternately when I click any of the editing features, for example, straighten, it also turns black and I'm not able to edit either. Is anyone else having this problem? What can I do? Thanks!

Make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
