IPhoto 11 9.2.1 export to large MPEG4 fail

I have been exporting many slideshows to the default large MPEG4 format. All of a sudden, the exported movies are blank after the first few slides (white frames), athough the music track is there. It will export to other sizes and to QuickTime format I have done a rebuild, reboot, delete plist. Problem persists.

I don't use a theme. A slideshow has around 30-40 slides with music. About 3-4 minute shows.
First, I used the iPhoto install that came with the new Air three months ago. No problem exporting many slideshows. Then the blank slides started appearing when I exported to large format (m4v). Seemed to work with other sizes and with Quick Time format (mov) for a while, then mov format started sending out blanks. If I rebuilt database and repaired permissions everytime I opened the program, I could export mov.
Went to Apple store and reinstalled iPhoto plus all updates. The first couple of slideshows exported fine, then the blanks appeared. Tried to rebuild/repair, but even this isn't working this time. Typically, the first 10 slides export, the rest is blank (white), although music is exported entirely.

That can be caused by many things - try to narrow down, what is happening:
Does your slideshow have a problem?
Do the media in your slideshow have a problem?
Does your Aperture library need fixing?
A problem with your user account?
Video codecs?
Aperture?
Your Mac OS X?
Your Hardware?
Check, if you can export slideshows at all from your Aperture library. Create a new, emty slideshow for experimenting and add one video, an audio clip and one or two photos. Try to export. Does that work?
If yes, duplicate your original slideshow and delete half of the photos from it. can you export now? Continue to find the video or image that does not work.
If no slideshow can be exported from your current library try to create a simple test slidesho in a different library. Does it work?
Post back with your results.

Batch export to network drive fails on large clips

SO I have dozens of clips to batch export in full quality uncoompressed format. THey come out anywhere from 1-10 gigs per file.
When I export to a desktop drive everything works great, when I do the same batch export to a network attached storage drive I have all the larger files failing on me.
Has enyone experienced this before and can you help?
Desktop drive works
Network drive works on smaller file sizes.

ah yes, known but ignored issue no. 456282
files over 2 gigs will not transfer over network when transfer is initiated via FCP, either by export, media manager, or any other process.
doesn't matter if target drive is mac format or otherwise, it doesnt work.
doesn't help, but at least you know its not something you did or didn't do.

After they get into the email go to the small menu at the lower right hand corner of the Mail window and select the size you want:

There are two libraries where this plugin might be
HD/ Library
and
HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
as well as within the Application package
/Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/

Usual fix: reinstall the app:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Have you ever successfully saved anything to that external drive? My first two thoughts are that the drive isn't formatted for the Mac or that you don't have rights to save to the drive.

Export Quality to MPEG4 is Terrible

Hi, I'm a PC user and using Premiere pro CS4. I load my video in Mpeg4 format and do my edits (the film is only 2 mins long). I then go to export and choose MPEG4 as standard and don't change any other settings. I then play this video back (once it's been saved to my folders) and the quality is terrible.
When I export the settings come up with:
NTSC 174x144 (15fps) Progressive
Before I edit the video, it is an mp4 1920 x 1080 and 25 fps
Any suggestions please? Is CS6 better for doing this? All I want to do is, once I edit my video, is create an MPEG4 video to put onto my website (that's the format is requires).
Any help would be great (and as not that technical, easy explanations would be stunning!!)

Hi Bill, thanks for your reply.
My website needs MP4 and I've since found out that the H.264 is the right setting I need for Adobe Pro. This has created another wee issue as my website can only take files up to 20MB and the Adobe files are 70-90MB in various settings, so I'm using Prism to re-convert them to MP4 again which lowers thier MB and still keeps the quality BUT they appear too small in my window on my website and I have a large black border around my video. On adobe, I chose H.264 and frame size 720 at 25 FPS which comes out at 90MB I think.
I know this has nothing now to do with Adobe (I think), I'm just popping this in here in the hope that someone may know how I can still retain a large 'surface' area on screen and have a quality video file under 20MB from one that was previously 70 or 90MB.

OK, fixed it. Found that iPhoto is now BACK in the App store.
Found iPhoto app in Finder and dragged it to Trash.
Downloaded iPhoto from App store and all now back working again.
Didnt expect to find iPhoto in App store as last time I looked it wasn't available.

Keynote export to Quicktime still fails after upgrade to iWork 09.1

After the update to iwork 9.1 the export to quicktime still fails with 'there is not enough disk space or there was a problem with the file Error - 108'
I bought a Mac for my use at home, (got a strong one with work in mind) - keynote with embedded FCP movies in some slides made one great presentation for work. Planned to deploy it to sales and our clients and develop more. but it does not run on quicktime so after 3 months the plan has taken a nose dive.
Its tough times, Keynote style presentations with live demos of our software (embedded movies) can make a difference. But it will have to run on a PC because that is what our clients and sales force have.
With export to quicktime not working and removal of export to flash i iWork 09 , there seems to be no way to deploy a Keynote presentation to a PC dominated corporate world? and I would be very interested to know if there is a way.
I have followed all the posts and even narrowed this issue in my case to hyperlinks
but none of the solutions solve the problem
The more complex the presentation in relation to embedded movies, hyperlinks etc sooner or later triggers this problem.

I'm also trying to utilize Keynote for the PC world and NEED the export to Quicktime. I also don't notice any improvement in Keynote '09. I think the workaround has to be to export the Quicktime files - which I'm now accepting will always have mismatched timings and other problems into another program for "fixing". This weekend I plan to test various. I hate to say I will have to revert to PowerPoint because it accepts audio and video files longer than 99 seconds. FYI, I just read on another post that manually clicking through your Keynote while having a screen capture program record a Quicktime may be a solution, although I'm concerned for audio/video quality. I just downloaded a free trial of Snapz Pro to see if that works today too. Let me know if you find a solution.

When I open iphoto it tells me that there are photos it failed to import, I tell it not to import them and it tells me where it has put them- however the recovered folders are always empty.

Quit or force quit iPhoto.
Select the iPhoto Library in the Finder. By default it is in your Pictures folder.
Ctrl-click or right-click the iPhoto lIbrary. Select "show package contents" from the panel, that will pop up.
Look for a folder named "Importing" or "Import". Remove this folder, but don't touch anything else.
Then launch iPhoto again.
