Iphoto 11 always "fullscreen" on 13''?
Hi, I love the new fullscreen-view, but I also often like to work with the normal window-view. I am on a MacBook Pro 13'' and iphoto 11 in window-view takes up the whole screen by default and there's no way to make it smaller (only to make it bigger than the screen actually is, which makes no sense at all). Is this normal? If so, is there a way to resize the window?

To answer you question, no. I have the trackpad and it does NOT make the experience any different than it is on a laptop. There is NOT any iPad like gestures that are included in the Photo App on the iPad. I thought there would be some but unfortunately there are not magic things LIKE the iPad

Iphoto has always imported pictures........not now. Help please.

I've always been able to import photos from my Canon Powershot SD500 into my iphoto 6. I installed Leopard about a month ago and imported photos successfully soon after.
This morning I tried to upload photos from my camera to my G5 ( 3 1/2 years old ) and the import screen came up; I clicked on the import photos button on the lower left corner of the window and instantly it said "Stop Importing" and went back to the library window.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Much thanks in advance.You don't sync photos back to the Mac. It does not work that way. You import the photos into iPhoto or you can use Image Capture or other apps as well.
iOS: Importing photos to your computer
Then you can create an event or album in iPhoto and select that event or album to sync back to Mac the next time that you sync.
I am just guessing that the original event is in the Photos app on the iPad (it was not deleted) and then you somehow selected the event to sync again in iTunes giving you two events of the same photos.
You can select or deselect the events and albums that you want to sync in iTunes -
Is there anyone that can help me with this problem? The files are always nothing I recognise and they won't download. I always have to manually stop iPhoto from trying to download them. Is there a way to stop this auto downloading?
Quit iPhoto and to to the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) - right click (control click) on it and select show package contents - find the folder named import (or importing) and drag it to the desktop - DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES - launch iPhoto and you will be fine.
Open the import(ing) folder and if there is nothing in it that you need move it to the trash and empty the trash

I have Folders in Iphoto and Intelligent playlists.. even though i ticked them in their sync options those are not beeing synced correct.

I sense a lot of planned Obsolecence here!If you still have a copy of iMovie HD 6 I suggest you use that to add the music to the slideshow. Create the slideshow without music, import it into iMovie HD 6, and add your audio tracks where you can trim, fade in/out, and have precise placement.

I have an IMac from early 2009. I've updated the OS X to Yosemite to 10.10.1 and since I've updated it, my system screensaver preferences WILL allow me to set the screensaver to IPhoto, but after a few minutes, it always reverts back to National Geographic pictures. I tried putting ALL 18,000 of my pictures into a separate folder and choosing THAT folder for the screensaver, but again - it reverted back to the National Geographic pictures.
Is there any way I can set my screensaver preferences to IPhoto pictures? Am I missing something? Thanks for any input or suggestions.Screen Saver changes on it’s own

Why do scanned photos shuffle out of order in photos and iPhoto after the albums and web pages are shared? And how can I keep the photos in the order I want them?
The photo app puts files in date/time order and ignores their names.
You can look for another app that may honor file names (sorry, I don't know any to recommend) or you can find a program that alters your file properties. If all the files have properties that read the same date and time, then it defaults to alphabetical order -

After successful update to iPhoto 08 my 16000 photos are there and all works fine. But when ever I start another program iPhoto stops and have to be restated. Do you have any ideas? This is the first time this problem appears. Rest works pretty well.

Normally all Apple software is nearly perfect, but Iphoto is always slow, crashing, in fact almost unworkable.
Why is Apple not fixing these problems?
Several versions suffer the same problem. Iphoto is the only application which is a problem on my macpro, all other applications are running smoothly.I'm having the same issue. Here's my crash log- hoping someone can help!

Iphoto email doesn't always send the mail .....
I tried again to send a photo directly from iphoto with a few lines of text.
It looked correct and the 'sending' bar completed the task but the email never arrived at its destination and there is no record of it anywhere in Mail or on my macbook.
I have been able to email from iphoto before and it has sometimes worked, sometimes not worked.
Should the mail from iphoto show up in my 'sent' mail box?

cYou do not understand - mail is not iPhoto - if yhou send with iphoto hen mail knows nothing about your e-mail - same for sending via Mail
there is no "sent mail" box for iPhoto
My personal suggestion is to use mail - set it as the e-mail client in teh iphoto preferences
Anothe option is to click the box in iPhoto to always send a bcc to yourself

I was following earlier suggestions on making a test library for iphoto.
I did this.
" Yes, you can create more than one library. Hold Option while you launch iPhoto, click "Create Library" give it a different name from your first library. To switch from one to the other, Option-Launch iPhoto, click "Choose Library" and navigate to the iPhoto Library folder that you wish to open. iPhoto will always open the library you were using when you last quit, unless you Option-launch and tell it otherwise."
The new library name is Iphoto-2. However, I am unable to get back to my original library (which has lots of photos in it.)
I tried the above. Option-Launch IPhoto, click "Choose Library"
I am only given the new library to choose. How can I find the original library?

Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.10)After you click "Choose Library" you should see a
window where you can navigate to your other library.
Click the little triangle in the bar that names the
new library. You should get a pull-down where you can
select your hard drive. Once done, navigate to
Pictures, then select your original iPhoto Library
folder and open it.
When I got to the pull down, there was a folder marked pictures.
When I opened it, I was allowed to revert to the orginal library.

Can't open iPhoto. It tries to open in slideshow format and just spins and spins after that.
I'm not sure what happened. iPhoto has always worked fine before. It was open when my kids were fooling around in Photobooth, and ever since then, whenever I try to open it, it just spins in the slideshow screen. Even if I plug in my camera, and it used to open iPhoto automatically and download, it doesn't anymore. HELP!
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101. -
I can't update my iPhoto. "Update is not available for this Apple ID".
Updating my iPhoto has always been a problem. When I try, I get the error of: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
This is the only apple ID I have ever owned, and now that I updated my Mac with the new software, I can't even OPEN iPhoto anymore. Now I can't view any of my photos and I am not a happy camper..
How can I fix this problem?????

Multiple iPhoto Libraries and iPhone syncing

Thanks for reading. I recently used iPhoto Library Manager from Fatcat (highly recommended) to take a 23,000 photo library and chop it down into several iphoto libraries. It seems that my phone by default wants to sync photos with the original library, and not one of the new ones. I am wondering a few things:
1. when i hold down the "option" key when opening iphoto i have the choice of opening any of my libraries. Perhaps the iphone will sync to which ever iphoto library i used last???
2. perhaps iphoto will always recognize my original library as "default" and i need to look into making one of my new libraries the master default?
Is this possible? Can I create a new iphoto library and use this as default across all apple programs going forward?
Any clarity on connection between new iphoto libraries and how the computer, and most importantly, my iphone, will recognize them is appreciated. thanks in advance,

When you launch iPhoto it opens the last used library - so when you force a launch by connecting a camera or iPhone you will be syncing to the last used library
