IPhoto 11 file export tab missing

I am using iPhoto 9.1.5. When I choose File>Export, the file export tab is missing! Is there a fix for this? I am trying to export with saving the edits and title.

First try the following: make a duplicate copy of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
     User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
     User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If that doesn't fix it you'll have to reinstall iPhoto. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally.

  • Sharpness APERTURE vs iPHOTO~file exported from Aperture worse than iPhoto

    HEY.
i'm recently using Aperture for my Photo Editing work.I found that everything Good and Perfect after fine tune and preview in the Window of Aperture...while Export it to the Jpeg (originaly image import from jpeg file) I found it's a bit loose from what i see in the Window Aperture...means,Loose the Sharpness...whole image getting un-sharp or s'ld i say added gausion blur of feel??
Once i import it(the one exported from Aperture) into iPhoto and Export it (even down size to 800 of diamention) it became Sharp and nice colour tone while compare with the one which Export from Aperture!!!!
    Why?
In the Export setting of Aperture i do set the Quality to max 12 and 300dpi even...
    Need your hand...thanks!!

WARNING! The sharpness problem is occurring in iPhoto modifications as well! I'm running Tiger and Leopard at the same time on 2 different computers - SAME EXACT SHARPNESS problems. The problem is NOT the OS - it's in the APPLE Photo Aps!

  • ECMA 2 File Export Stats Missing

I saw an earlier thread where this was noted as a known issue for Full Export, but I'm seeing the same thing on a simple file-based ECMA 2 running normal (delta) exports. How do I get my ECMA to report export stats? Do I need to mix Call-based and File-based
methods? E.g. use IMAExtensible2FileImport to read my file and IMAExtensible2CallExport to write my file if I want stats, or am I missing something?
    Cheers,

  • Backing up iPhoto files to an external hard drive.

I cannot drag and drop, nor copy and paste photos from iPhoto to an external hard drive, whether as a copy of the complete iPhoto library or as individual photos, nor can I copy/drag a copy of the iPhoto library from the desktop to an external hard drive. It seems every thread I've read and tried on the internet hasn't helped, and yet this seems, from looking at forums, a very common complaint.... Any advice? Thank you..

Select or highlight the photos you would like to copy to your external hard drive. On iPhoto, File > Export > File Export > Kind: JPEG ( set JPEG quality, size & file name to your preference) > EXPORT > Double click the location you would like to send the copies to (In this case - your External Hard Drive) > open and place JPEGs in your new location.  This action does Not remove your original JPEGs, but rather, copies to your new location. Hope this helps make your life easier….

    Please help...

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Permissions of files exported from iPhoto; read/write owner-only

    Hi folks,
When I export a set of files as JPG from iPhoto to a folder, I notice that the permissions are set to read & write for the owner only; the rest of the group and world are not allowed to see them.
I noticed this when I exported a set of files, then burned that to DVD for someone else to have; he couldn't read the files on the DVD.
Actually, it's even a bit weirder: 2 or 3 files (out of several dozen) are actually world readable, and when I export the original (RAW) images, these are group & world readable.
Does anyone have any idea if I'm missing a setting or something? It's relatively easy to adjust the permissions, but seems very odd and illogical.
    Thanks,
    Evert

    Evert:
First Control-click on one of the thumbnails in iPhoto and select Show File in the Contextual Menu. Check the file for permissions. If they are the same as the exported file then you'll have to change the permissions on the library and all files therein.
One way to do it is to download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner, set the group to what is already the default (often it's staff). Set the permission to for the group and others to what you want them to be and click on the Apply button. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Or, you can select the library folder, type Command-i and set the permissions in the Info window clicking on the Apply to enclosed when done. (I'm running Leopard and the permissions section in the Info window are different that they were in Tiger but I think the button is Apply to enclosed).
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.

  • Why does iPhoto (9.0/11) not retain the Event name when exporting more than one event? (using File - Export - Album name with number).

Why does iPhoto (9.0/11) not retain the Event name when exporting more than one event? (using File -> Export -> Album name with number).
Exporting a single Event retains the Event name which is what I'd expect. But highlighting more than one event and exporting it renames the images to Events 001.JPG, Event 002.JPG etc.
I was recently on holidays and had all my events nicely split on Dad's computer but when I went to export it I couldn't retain any of this information. Now I have to replicate this all again on my computer.
It wasn't possible to export the entire library as the external drive was fat32 format an I didn't want all of it. It would be nice to export a bunch of events to someone and have it retain the name.
Does anyone have a work around or will this be fixed at some point by Apple?

  • File -- Export in oracle apps forms- headings missing

We have a custom form for our custom billing processes. It lists all the draft invoices that are ready to be released along with multiple custom fields. We are using File -> Export to export the data to excel file.
once exported, the some of the column headings are missing in the excel file. can someone help?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
This problem is because of the field heading.
So You have done like this first creating a text item and the you will manually create a heading using Text correct.
Don't do that, delete that and go to the property palette and give the Item heading in the PROMPT and check now its will work.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Exporting iPhoto files-necessary?

I used to perform file exports of all my newly imported iPhoto jpegs to a folder of original jpegs elsewhere on my Mac. I started doing this on an earlier version of iPhoto, and it's become a habit.
But is there any decent reason me to keep doing this, or to keep the originals I've stored in the past? Or is all of this just extra work for me, and a waste of storage for my hard drive?
    I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

    Hello
It is certainly a duplication. Whether it is necessary is a matter of opinion.
Mine is I think it is a good idea to have copies of your photos elsewhere in case they are lost by iPhoto, or if the entire OS is lost from the Hard drive.
In the latter event, keeping copies on the same hard drive would not save you, and as you say, they just take up space.
Making a back up on another hard drive for storage would be better practice and these days, not too expensive either.

When I open iMovie (09), the app searches for missing iPhoto files.  These are files I deleted.  I have to close about 30 dialog boxes before I can start using iMovie.  How do I make this stop?

So it seems the issue is when iMovie is wanting to creat thumbnails, if I ask it to ignore then it's fine but if not it hangs up searching for the video file.

  • Is there a way to import/export tab delimited files to a table in Pages 2?

It seems like Pages is starting to get funtionality that might help wean me off of Excel. In this vein, is it possible to import or export tab delimited files to a table in Pages 2?

I had some success in Pages 1, but I've only tried a couple of times so far in Pages 2 without success. The trick was to make sure the table is the exact number of columns wide. It's very "klunky" but I've ended up converting the tab-delimited text to a table in AppleWorks, saving the AppleWorks file with the table as a "floating" object (fixed objects don't translate) & opening the file in Pages. It's quicker & easier for most of what I do to just drag & drop in Pages.

  • DLU - file rights tab in Console One missing.

    Zen3.2 Sp3
We are using Console One 1.3.3 in two separate networks on our campus.
In the main network, under the DLU policy properties, the "File rights" tab
is the third on the dropdown list. We use this to set the users' rights to
the Windows Temp directory in WinXP so that a batch file can write some
    temporary files.
On the other hand, on the subsidiary network the "File Rights" tab is
    absent.
Bothe networks have the same patch level.
Is this likely to be a snapin issue for C1 or has someone another
    suggestion?
    Geoff Taylor BSc Dip Ed

Console One, being reasonably portable, I copied to the subsidiary network
the entire Console One folder. When run, the copied version popped up the
required third item on the DLU properties tab.
On close examination, the version of C1 on the main network was 1.3.6 whilst
the subsidiary had 1.3.3. I guess, either a snapin was missing or this
    property was new for 1.3.6.

  • To find missing pix -- what is iphoto file format?

I am trying to find photos that were uploaded from a camera into a blank iphoto library (call it the Current Library). I don't know where this Current Library actually resided.
When I redirected iphoto to a different library on my hard drive (call it the Backup Library), I found myself unable to go back and find the original photos from the Current Library.
I've tried the following to recover these missing photos from the Current Library:
    1. Spotlight and Easyfind search for library6.iphoto -- only found Backup Library, no evidence of photos from Current Library.
    2. Smart Folder search to find files over a certain size -- only found images from the Backup Library.
    3. I know that the Current Library existed, and I find it hard to believe that it just "disappeared" -- I uploaded photos to Picasa just yesterday from the Current Library.
Are there other techniques to search for the photos that were once in my Current Library?

Is it possible that Current Library was created while you were logged into a different user account? That would explain why you are unable to find it in your search.
Here is a diagram of the iPhoto 6 Library folder structure. Thanks to lori_diloreto for this diagram. It's a great illustration of how iPhoto 6 works. You could try searching for AlbumData.xml or any of the Thumb files. The problem is that without a Library6.iPhoto file there is no database = no library. But you're right, unless you have overwritten it, it has to be somewhere.
    Regards.

You might post this query on the iPhoto forum and perhaps someone there can provide an answer.
I tried this on my MBP and it seems that you have to restore the entire iPhoto Library.  What I did was put the current library in a separate folder on the desktop and then I restored the library from a prior date.  If you were to do that, you then could extract the desired photos and then delete the restored library.  Then place the current library back to the original location and import the desired photos.
Not tidy but it seems it will work.
    Ciao.
