IPhoto 11 has assigned a wrong location on 10% of my photo library

Is there a way to correct these wrong locations other than photo by photo since about 1400 photos are affected by this bug ?

Look at the scroll bar at the bottom and move it to the left to get the thumbnail size you want.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IPhoto - When I add new photos to iPhoto from my iMac they do not appear in the "Photos" library. They do appear in Last Import.  Any thoughts?

iPhoto - When I add new photos to iPhoto from my iMac they do not appear in the "Photos" library. They do appear in Last Import.  Any thoughts?

If you are seeing your photos in "Last Import", the photos are somewhere in your library. Perhaps the dates are wrong, and you do not see the photos arranged by date, where you expect them to be.
Select one of the photos on "Last Import", then ctrl-click it and select "Show in Event".  That will take you to the event in event view.

I tries and it doesnt work!!

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Iphoto has stored the wrong password and or username

I cannot email phots from my gmail account through iphoto because of the wrong username and password stored in it. How do I change it?

    Hi Earthgrrl64,
I would recommend trying the steps in this article to add the account as new and maybe remove the older incorrect one, if applicable:
    iPhoto '11: Email your photos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2421
Specifically, the section that tells you how to set up a mail account:
To set up a Photo Mail account:
Choose iPhoto > Preferences, and then click Accounts. If you’re in full-screen view, move your pointer to the top of the screen to make the menu bar appear.
Click the Add button in the lower-left corner.
Click Email, and then click Add.
Choose your email service provider. If your service provider isn’t listed, choose Other.
    Type the requested information.
    Cheers!

  • IPhoto has changed the creation dates to all of my photos

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro, my first computer since my iMac circa 2005. I've successfully transfered all of my photos to the new computer, but iPhoto has changed the creation dates of every file, so they're no longer in chronological order. I've used DVDs and Dropbox, I've exported the files, copied the data files from the hard drive, everything, but the result is still the same. I contemplated changing each file manually, but I have over 3,000 photos. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way I can restore the correct dates?

    Hi Keith,
Yes, it's date that the photo was taken that has been changed. When I look at the "photo info" of each individual photo, the "original date" is correct, but the transferred photos on my new computer always change to a 2007 date, despite the fact that the photos were taken as early as 2002.
    Does this make more sense?

  • When I Open Iphoto it tells me that it can not open current photo library using this version of iphoto.  Any help on what I can do to fix this without loosing all my previous photos?

For some reason I tried to open Iphoto and it keeps giving me an error message that It can not open my current photo library.
It says "You can't open your current photo library using this version of Iphoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of Iphoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of Iphoto, or do you want
to create a new photo library?"
I tried updating the software and didn't do nothing for me.
Anyone have a solution to this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Ok, here is what I would do for that situation. I would back up all your photos on a memory stick, then create a new photo library and re-upload all the photos to the new library. If iphoto wont let you even copy your photos, you should just schedule an appointment at the genius bar. This has never happened to me, but if it did this is what I would be attempting.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite I had to upgrade iPhoto and now it says I need to update my photo library or it will be lost...HELP

After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade iPhoto.  Now when I try to open iPhoto I get the following message:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade.  The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete .
Question is...how do i upgrade the photo library?

You can't back up an open iPhoto...
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

  • IPhoto has rotated and distorted a lot of my old photos

Something strange has happened to some of my older photos. The photos are in portrait orientation, like they're supposed to, but the image itself is rotated and stretched (as you can see in the image). After looking at the distorted image in full screen, the thumbnail is also distorted. Rebuilding the library didn't fix the problem. Is there a way to fix this?

    First, try this:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
If this doesn't help give this a try:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
If all photos appear normal in this new library we know it's not damaged image files and that the problem lies with your existing library.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
