Iphoto 11 not sorting events by titles.

I'm using Iphoto 11.  I have grouped photos (different souces iphone and 2 digital cameras) by events that are all named with the following template:
YYYY.MM.JJ - Title of the event
For some other events that I wanted to always be "on top" of all the others were names differently:
00 - Title event
* Title of the event *
Regardless of the way I name the event it is not sorting correctly.  For instance I have 2 events called:
00 - Cat
00 - Dog
Logically they should be next to each other is sorted by title... Why it is not sorting.  Can anyone help? Thanks

I used Sort Events > By Title (or By Date)
But I try to avoid Manually sorting, beacause i read so many posts by other users with issues of sorting being lost and have to to do it again.  therefor thats why I choose a sorting option that shoulds always work with automatic sorting (date or title) evan if someone "accidentaly" switch it to manual.
*** The only way to have it work and sort again correctly (i just found this) is to add an other photo to the event and then it sort again... What is wrong with my Iphoto??

  • IPhoto fails to sort events by title

Hi everyone, and thank you in advance for any support you may be able to provide.
I have been plagued by this issue for some time and it is truly infuriating. If I have not provided enough information please say so and I would be happy to add more info.
The issue is this: events do not sort by title.
Let me go more in depth:
It is possible for me to sort them by title, using the menu options in the status bar. (View>Sort Events>By Title)
But, if I combine events, delete or create new events, all havoc breaks loose. The events are then in no discernable order, even while it says they are sorted by title in the status bar.
I am running the latest version of Mac OSX, Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and the latest version of iPhoto, 9.4.2. I have a 27" Late 2010 iMac with Intel i7 and 12 GB of RAM.
    Please, please, please help me?

Have you tried going back to the Sort menu and changing Ascending to Descending or the orther way around and back again to see if that will jump start the sort by title?
If that doesn't help try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • IPhoto 09 not sorting events by date

iPhoto events were sorted by date, with most recent at the top. iPhoto has started putting new events at the bottom of the stack so I have to scroll down to find them. What can I do to get the sort order restored?

in event view view menu ==> sort events

  • Can not sort by album title in cover flow. I'm going crazy!

I own a LOT of trance music compilations that come in packs of 3 cds. Coverflow only seems to sort by Artist name, and in my music collection each cd from the came compilation might start with a different artist, resulting in the 3 parts of the same album being scattered all over cover flow because of the varying artists.
Is there ANY way possible to make cover flow sort by album title only? PLEASE! I want to use this feature, but its pretty annoying for my type of music collection.

Well I have learned a little bit that helps. I discovered that I can highlight all of say Disc 1 in a compilation, and then right click on the selections and select Get Info. From here, I can flag all the songs as part of a compilation. Then I would do the same for Disc 2, and so on. This resulted in each CD component of an album getting grouped together in Coverflow, though albums that are not compilations ruin the alphabetical flow.
At least now my Disc 1, Disc 2 and Disc 3 of the compilations are next to each other, and not scattered all over, even if there is still no alphabetical order by album.

  • Iphoto not making events from recent import

I just recently imported about 100+ photos from my camera.  All of them appear in last import and I believe the last 12 months.  However it didn't make an event for the import which it has in the past.  Plus the images don't appear in "photos" either.

If only 12 photos, try manually deleting the photos from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
Then take a couple of photos and try again.
If this doesn't work and a Restore from your iPhone's backup doesn't work, the next step to take is restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

  • IPhoto does NOT sort 'By title'. Please advise

In the left pane Library-Photo view is selected.
In the menu "View->Sort Photos->By Title" is selected.
However, iPhoto sorts  photos by date, not by title.
    Any advise?
    I use 10.8 OS and 9.3.2 iPhoto.

    @Old Toad,
I am already sorting Events by Title unter 'Events' section. I wanted to have events as it as a list, not as thumbnails.
That is why I was trying to sort them in 'Photos' section, where they are shown as Text.
I have many events. And I wanted to structure them well, if i were to switch to iPhoto. As I see now, iPhoto does not have many useful library management features. So I am going to stick to Lightroom and Bridge (though I don't need so much editing power).
    @Terence Devlin,
I checked Aperture on my friend's computer (it *****, that apple is not giving trial versions).
It does not offer exactly what I was looking for.
But the Projects (aka 'Events' in iPhoto) can be sorted and put in folders (in the left panel). And it is displayed as a list (not thumbnails). This can't be done with iPhoto.
Morover, the Aperture has a much better search by keywords selection than iPhoto.
To pay 80 USD to try using Aperture. I really don't know. If there were a trial available....
I better stick to what I know works - Lightroom and Bridge.

  • Photos not sorted in iPAD from iphoto

    Hi,
I'm trying to sync my photos in iphoto 9.5 with my ipad but the photo sorting order not coming the same as it's sorted in iphoto?!!
Worth to mention, I just moved from my old MACbookpro to the latest one using time machine restore. in my old laptop all was working fine but since i moved to the new laptop the photo order got missed up even after sorting them correctly in iPhoto (View -> Sort photos -> by title).
Need urgent assitance as this is effecting my work.

Sharing between iPhoto and others apps is governed by a file in the Library package called the AlbumData.xml file. The other apps read this file to be aware of the iPhoto content. Your problem is here:
My iPhoto library is housed on an external NAS (Buffalo Tech) device.
When stored on a disk formatted anything except Mac OS Extended (Journaled) iPhoto can have problems formatting the XML file. Other folks report issues with saving edits and importing photos.
The only solution is to have your Library on a disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • IPhoto manual sort, not in events or albums.

I'm running Mavericks on MBP, I would like to manually sort my photos in iPhoto in order uploaded. Not in events, in photo view where you can see all your photos. I do not want to organize an album. I cannot drag and drop photos in order. Manual sort is grayed out, I cannot change this. Past answers to this question suggest if start manually moving things then the option will become available. I cannot manually move anything, it just won't respond. Help please.

You can't do what you want. The Library (whether in Events or Photos view) cannot be sorted manually. If you want to use manual sorting you must use Albums.

  • In iPhoto if I select View, then Sort Photos by title, how do I stop it reverting to sorting by date when I close iPhoto and re-open it later?

In iPhoto if I select View, then Sort Photos by title, how do I stop it reverting to sorting by date when I close iPhoto and re-open it later?

In what mode, Events, Photos or in an Album, are you when you select View ➙ Sort ➙ By Title?
As a first fix attempt try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your

  • How can I compare a (partial) export folder from iPhoto to an event in iPhoto to find images not exported?

How can I compare a (partial) export folder from iPhoto to an event in iPhoto to find images not exported?  Or better yet, how can I export selected events to a new iPhoto library or an existing iPhoto library with events, titles and keywords intact?

  • 8.1 did not sort the sort order for events in photos app

With 7000 photos in more than 300 events You must have them in alphabetic order as before in 7.1 The pictures are synced from iMac iPhoto. How to do a search. The events are not found by names

When I drag albums into the correct order in Photos for Mac, they show up in reverse order on the iOS devices. Thus there seems to be a bug in either iOS 8.3, OS 10.10.3 or iCloud Photo Library.
The browser version of iCloud Photo Library (icloud.com) is currently updating. I am waiting to see which way my albums are sorted there.
There is no promise at all, or documented anywhere, how sorting of library items will sync across the devices. This has been haphazard when syncing iPhoto Libraries - synced faces not sorted, synced events  not sorted, etc. So it is at least a step in the right direction, in Photos that the albums are sorted at all.

  • Iphoto not showing imported photos in events

I have been using iphoto for quite a while with very few problems.  Recently I have added an iPhone and an apple TV into my apple ecosystem.  I have recently noticed that my iphoto library is NOT showing photos imported from 3rd party sources such as my android phone, in the events section of the interface.  The photos ARE present in the 'photos' section which leads me to believe that they are IN the library.  But when i look at the events and select one say for 3/24 it will only display the photos taken from my wifes iphone and NOT the ones taken from my andriod and imported using the add to library function.  I have attempted all four options in the command-option iphoto startup and have gotten no where.
Many of you might that that this is a non issue as the photos are present in the 'photo' section.  but as i prefer to use the fullscreen mode in iphoto i do not have access to the 'photos' tab in full screen, only the 'events'.
could my appletv or iPhone or appletv be a contributing factor?  Is there an option in events to only display iPhone imported photos?
Any help would be appricaited I am pulling my hair out here.

1 - Photos and events are simply two different views of the same photos - your iPhoto library - so any photo that is in one is always also in the other - you are just looking in the wrong place
2 - the most common issue is incorrect dates on photos so you look in the wrong location for the event - in the photos view right click on one of the photos that you are not seeing in an event and show event
3 - another possiblity is the sort order of the events - verify it under the view menu ==> sort events
4 - No - it is not your Apple TV nor is it your iPhone

  • IPhoto 08 - Override "events" sort?

So. First Google wants to tell me what I should do tomorrow, and now
Apple thinks it knows what photo organization I should use. Can the sorting
by "events" be completely turned off? Failing that, can it at least be supplemented by creating albums? I am an avid photographer, Photoshop
user, and iPhoto 06 user. Event-sorting would cause me not only huge
transitional problems, but also ONGOING problems in terms of my post-processing work flow and also how I store photos in multiple places. I would like to upgrade to iLife 08 but I am very concerned about this. Thank you.

You can sort events by a number of different way including manually.
At this time you can not (I believe) manually sort the photos within an event)
You can create albums - the same as with iPhoto 6 (and they move forward frrom iPhoto 6 to iPhoto 7 without modification).
Events are simply a more flexible "roll" - if rolls are working for you events will work the same - you might even like the flexibility and start using them but you might not.
The only thing you will see is that all rolls which have not been named (name is still roll nn) will come in as "unnamed event) -- sonmething I hope Apple addresses - seems to me that they should retain the old roll nn name

  • Can not open Events photos in iPhoto 9.5.1

can not open Events photos in iPhoto 9.5.1

    We need detaoils
What does show for the ones that do not have the picture?
Is is an ! - if do
This indicates a disconnect between the Thumbnail and the original
this can be caused by two things
1 - User action deleting items from inside the iPhoto  library - can be directly - can be from the All images list (never delete from there) - can be from running cleanup software like MacKeeer, CleanMac2  or other dangerous, defective software that improperly deletes or changes things in the iPhoto library - if you have done any of these things you must restore your backup from before you did them and damaged your iPhoto library - and I recommend getting rid of any "clean up software" ASAP (although being essentially MalWear it is not easy)
2 - corruption of the iPhoto library - If it is not #1 then Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - repair permissions and then rebuild your database
