IPhoto 11 - Problem viewing shared photos
Hi,
We have two MBP and we're having trouble viewing the photos from the other library via the Share function. The share is occurring through FW. Both MBP are running iPhoto 9.1.3. The issue is that MBP A can see MBP B's photos through share, but MBP B while it can see A's Shared library, it only sees black outlines of the photos and not the photos themselves. It's as if there is some sort of bug.
I should point out that I can see the photos once I click on the thumbnail previews, but the thumbnail previews remain empty, just outlined.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Clarified issue
Hi, Terence,
It's setup within iPhoto. Turns out, if you have the thumbnail size set too small (to the minimum0, it shows them as just empty, outlined squares. If you increase the size a little bit, then the thumbnails can be seen properly. I tested this on the other MBP and it was true there, too, we just didn't notice it because the default thumbnail size was bigger.
Cheers,
Wilde

After upgrading to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5 my shared photo streams seem to contain no photos when seen in iPhoto. From iPad the streams are fine. How can I get them to be recognized by iPhoto again?
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

When using iphoto, I can view the photos but when I double click on 1 specific photo it enlarges to a black box with a large white circle in it...doesn't matter which photo I click on the end result is the same...black box with a white circle.
Hello michelefox17
It's sounds like you may need to rebuild your iPhoto Library. The article below has the steps on how do that.

I have made quite a few shared photo streams and love the idea of sharing easily with a variety of friends and family. The problem in having is that any modifications made to the shared photostream (adding/deleting pictures) are not updated in the URL I have sent to my family and friends. Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream on your Mac.

Problems viewing RAW photos properly in Photoshop/Lightroom/ACR
Hey folks. New here and looking to find some assistance with a problem I'm having in Photoshop CS4, Lightroom 2 and Adobe Camera Raw 5.7 when attemtping to view RAW photos straight from my Canon 450D. My computer is a Mac PowerPC G5 running OS X 10.5.8 with a single 1.8Ghz CPU and 3.5Gb of RAM. Photoshop CS4 is version 11.0.2. Lightroom is version 2.7. Adobe Camera Raw is version 5.7.
What I am having problems with is viewing RAW photos from my camera in all of these applications. No problems are encountered with any other file type such as PNG or jpg.
I have attached a screen capture of what I am seeing when I open a .CR2 RAW image in Camera RAW before opening in Photoshop. As you can see, the software seems to be having a difficult time rendering the photo properly. I can view these files on other computers using the Canon software that came with my camera. I get this same problem if I view the image in Lightroom.
As far as I know, I can't upgrade to PS CS5 or LR 3 because I am still running on the PPC architecture, so I need to find how to fix this without having to buy a Mac Pro and the newest software.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? If the screenshot is too small, I can provide the full-res version.I'm well-versed in forum ettiquette, thank you. I do, however, see no problem why posting about this problem once in each forum covering the software involved in my problem would be an issue. If I posted about the problem in only one forum, let's say in the Lightroom forum, and the problem was experience by another person who did not use Lightroom and would not be browsing the Lightroom forum for help, how would they have come across this post? Unless they also looked in the Photoshop forum, they might not have seen this post. So where's the harm in having it viewed by a greater number of individuals?
With that aside, my problem is now resolved. After looking around a bit more on the forums here last night, I came across a thread started by a fellow who was experiencing the same issue as I, except he had newer versions of the software. Someone had replied to his post suggesting that it could have been faulty RAM modules and that they once experienced similar issues which were resovled by replacing the RAM. This was good news to me, since I had just purchased additional RAM for my Mac last week. It arrived today and I installed it and booted the Mac up. I purged any cache files used by these three software titles and then reattempted opening a RAW image in Photoshop. I took my latest RAW images from my camera, exported them to a USB thumb drive, and then from there exported them to my Mac. I tried to open on of the images in Photoshop and it opened successfully with ACR along with a complete and pristine preview of the image. Open the other RAW images in Lightroom, no problems. -
Problem with shared photo streams in iCloud
I am using version 9.6 of iPhoto on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012). I am using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1. All of a sudden I cannot see any photos in my shared photo streams in iCloud - all the streams are showing up and the subscribers but it says there are 0 photos. It is the same for mine and other people's shared photo streams. I can still see all the photos on my iPhone and iPad. I have not been able to find a solution online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sometimes it helps to delete the cached copy of the Photo Streams from your user library.
Open the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/ in your user library in your home folder.
Remove the complete folder iLifeAssetManagement/ to your Desktop and compress it.
Then restart your mac.
Your user library may still be hidden.
To open the hidden User Library:
Quit iPhoto.
Use the Finder's "Go" menu. Click "Go", then hold down the options key, until you are seeing "Library" in the drop down menu appear and click it)
In the window that opens select the folder "Application Support", then look for " iLifeAssetManagement/" -
HT201317 View shared photo streams on Apple TV
I have an appletv but cannot see Shared Photo Streams that I am subscribed to. Is there a setting in the Apple TV itself or in the photo stream sharing that must be enabled in order to view the shared photos? How are they supposed to show up?
On this page
http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/photo-stream.html
it says
Make your photos a big deal with Apple TV.
With Photo Stream and Apple TV, you can view your recent photos and Shared Photo Streams on your HDTV for some truly entertaining reality television.2 And the Photo Streams your friends and family share with you appear on your Apple TV automatically, so you can check out their latest pictures, view comments, and even “like” photos with a click of your Apple TV remote.
So unless the marketing team jumped ahead of the Apple TV dev team, I think it is supposed to be supported. -
IPhoto 11 crashing when sharing photos
Hi all,
I am using a macbook pro with Mac OS X (10.7.5) and iPhoto 11 9.4.2 (710.42). For the last month, when I try to export photos using the automatic Facebook uploader, iPhoto will crash. Sometimes I'm prompted to restore my library (when I reopen after filing a crash report), which I have done, but I am still having issues. It will crash occasionally or get hung up while I'm editing, but it's mostly when I'm sharing. I updated a while ago, and I know some people began having problems then, but I didn't until just recently. Can anyone help? I know on the other threads I've read, people usually want the crash report, so that is below.

IPhoto '08 problem with CMYK photos
I notice something on iPhoto 06 and 08, when i use a photo in RGB mode the colors look great, but if i use a CMYK photo looks very bad...
See the difference:

http://www.welove.com.pt/iphoto_RGB.png
is it collor settings problem or a bug?
Anybody? The iLife apps are consumer level applications targeted at the general population and designed for easiest use. . For professionals Apple provides a series of pro applications that will work with a greater number of file formats, etc. iPhoto is not geared towards the professional as it does not nearly fit the DAM (Digital Asset Management) requiements for good image management. CMYK has never been supported by iPhoto. CMYK if more for the high end printers that professionals use.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
Hi guys. The mrs & i have seperate acnts on our Mac. When we download photo's to it, we place them in a shared folder so we can see each others. After an OS update, we can no longer see each others photo's! We get the "you don't have permission to view" message.
What can we do to resolve this issue?
Cheers in advance. Please update your profile. Makes troubleshooting easier.
You are in the Mavericks community, not the Mac Pro forum, unless someone has moved your post.
Two separate libraries? Do a Get Info (command - I) on the library/libraries and change the permissions to everyone read/write. You need to unlock the Get Info box. If it is 2 libraries, you'll need to do it on both using the appropriate account passwords. -
HT201077 Viewing shared photo stream in web browser in slide show mode
The pictures in my photo stream used to fill the whole web page when in slide show view
now they sit in the middle of the page surrounded by a black boarder.
Can this behaviour be changed back to full page display? If you are using iOS 7, open the Photos app on your iPhone, tap Shared at the bottom, tap Edit at the top, then tap the icon next to the album you want to delete. If you only want to delete selected photos in it, tap the album, tap Select at the top, tap the photos you want to delete, then tap the trash icon at the bottom.

I select photos in iPhoto. I touch the "Share" icon. Then iPhoto hangs. The app is unresponsive to touch. I must fully close the app to get it to respond to my touch again. However, I cannot share these 10 photos, and it's driving me crazy.
Plus, this website would not display anything I typed in this post, until I touched the "Boldface" icon. Go figure.Upgrade to v9.4.1 or

Problem viewing Web Photo Gallery in IE6
I created a Web Photo Gallery in CS3 and uploaded it to my website via Dreamweaver. It will not display in IE6, but it will in Firefox.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or know of a reason why this would happen?
Thanks so much for any help! Can't answer the question without looking at the code. Being you have DW, I would parse the code there and you will get more help in the Dreamweaver forum.

Can two iphoto users create a shared photo book?
My sister and I would like to make a photo album for our parents for Christmas. We live in two different cities, but we each have pictures we would like to contribute to the book. can we create a photo album that we can both work on and add pictures to simultaneously? or is there another way for one of us to be able to add pictures to a single album from two different locations? I'm wondering if uploading pics to flickr and then one of us pulling those photos from flickr for the book would work. I'm just concerned that this route will decrease the quality of the photos. thanks for any help.
ashleyIf you want to just have photos transferred to you by your sister easily try using Dropbox. Once set up any picture she puts in her dropbox on her Mac will be send to your dropbox folder on your Mac as long a you're on line. There's a 2GB limit to the content of the dropbox but that shouldn't be a limitation for a book.
