IPhoto 11 slideshow problem

I'm making slideshows using the shatter theme and in some of the shows the transition between photos is missing. It's always the same photo within the show - no matter where I move the photo to. It makes me think it's something about the photo, but I can't figure out what. Any ideas? Thanks much!

Check that photo in the photo mode and see if you can bring up the full sized version of it?

  • IPhoto Slideshow Problem!

Hey, on iPhoto if i want to create a slideshow or maximize a picture all i get is the out line of a grey dotted box with an exclamation mark in the middle! What do i do? should i resinstall it?

iPhoto is a database, not an image viewer. To put photos 'into' iPhoto you need to import them (file -> import) into the app. iPhoto then puts them into the iPhoto Library Folder. It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.
So I'm at a loss to know what you've done, but hopefully your problem is sorted out.

  • IPhoto slideshow problem--stuck on selected photo

I have an iMac (late 2009)  OS X 10.9.2. In Feb. 2014, Maverick was intalled in this computer.  I use iPhoto a lot to organize and store photos.  Today I was trying to look at a vacation album in Slideshow mode and it would only display one photo, over and over again.
How do I get Slideshow to function properly?

By selecting more than one picture.
If you want to Slide show using, lets say, pictures 1 to 20. Then you would click on picture 1 to select it, then before clicking on picture 20, you would have to press and hold the Shift key. This process will select all pictures from 1 to 20.
If you, however, want only a selected few pictures from 1 to 20. Lets say pictures 3-5-9-12-17 and 19. Then as you are selecting each of those pictures, you would press and hold the Command key as you are selecting each picture.
But lets say you want all 1 to 20 pictures except for one. Then just repeat the first, select picture 1 then press and hold the Shift key as you click on the 20th picture. Release the Shift key, then go to the picture that you don't want to show, press and hold the Command key and select the picture. You'll see the yellow bar surrounding the picture is now gone, but the remaining pictures still have their's.
When ready, just start the slide show as normal.

  • IPhoto slideshow problems

Since the new release, can no longer use iTunes as a music source for slideshows, Files are visible and can be added, but no music plays. Anyone have a solution?

Thank you LarryHN ! You totally ROCK !

  • Problem Playing iPhoto slideshow on AirPlay

I am attempting to play my iPhoto slideshow (created on my MacAir) on my Sony HD 50 inch screen using AirPlay and my Apple TV.  The resolution of the phtos is very low on the HD screen (I can see pixels) yet if I just show the photo directly (not in the slideshow) the resolution is fine.  These are photos taken with a Nikon D200 and are high resolution.  It seems to be a specifc problem for the slideshow function
I would apprecaite any advice - all software on the computer and the Apple TV are updated.

OK, but when I tried to do that, I could show an album, but not a premade slideshow with animation and titles etc - the only choices were albums/events/photos.  Did I miss something in the "Home Sharing" setup.
    Thanks

  • Since upgrading to OSx 10.9, I cannot place my music for iPhoto slideshows.  The only music that works is the Sample and Theme music that comes with iPhoto.  Any idea of what to do about this problem?

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.

  • Audio problems with iphoto slideshow

    hi there,
i made a 9 minute photo slideshow in itunes synched to 2 songs (one directly after the other). then i wanted to post it online (facebook, youtube, etc) for my friends and family to see. BUT, when i do so, the second song does not play even though the slideshow of pictures continues.
both songs play in the iphoto slideshow and on the exported .mov file in quicktime when you watch them. this problem only occurs when posting it online and then watching that posted file online.
any ideas why these sites arent recognizing that there is a second song that follows the first?
    thanks a lot...

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You did select just the playlist and not the track in the playlist, right? Are any of the tracks from the iTunes store and are you running the latest Quicktime?
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • TS3649 Suddenly i can't export iPhoto slideshows to iDVD after upgrading to 10.8.2   I get the message "CouldNotCreateTmpDir"  What do i do to overcome this problem?

Suddenly i can't export iPhoto slideshows to iDVD after upgrading to 10.8.2   I get the message "CouldNotCreateTmpDir"  What do i do to overcome this problem?  I've been making slideshows for ages using iPhoto and iDVD and it's suddenly stopped. Urgent help needed.

Are you saying that you cannot export a slideshow from iPhoto to the Desktop and then drag it from the Desktop (or the Movie frolder where it can be stored) into an open iDVD menu window?
Export the slideshow at the large or medium size:
They drag the movie file into the open iDVD window.  NOTE: do not move the movie file once it's been added to iDVD. That's why it should be placed in folder where you intend to keep it permanently or at least until the iDVD project is completed and burned to a disk image and then to disk.

  • Iphoto slideshow on tv

I'm trying to watch an iphoto slideshow on my tv. so I bought a "mini-dvi to video adapter" but when I connect it to my tv via the video connector (yellow) all I see is my wallpaper and nothing else, no mouse pointer movement, files opening or anything else, just my wallpaper, I can't see my iphoto slideshow either. any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Try hooking up the MacBook to the TV with the MacBook off and then boot it up. Also with the TV connected to the MacBook go into the System Preferences/Monitors pane. There should be an option to set the monitor and TV. Don't remember exactly what it looks like as it only comes up if there's an external monitor or projector connected. There may be a setting that needs to be changed.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. I have a MacBook Air and recently downloaded the new operating system, 10.10 OSX Yosemite. Since that time, I am no longer able to access my personal ITunes library to add music to IPhoto slideshows.  I put I tunes library on my desktop, as suggested. How do I drag it to the I Photo slideshow?

That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • I am trying to burn DVDs from iPhoto slideshows.  My pictures number in the hundreds and we know that iPhoto captures 99 and then "starts over".  This plays fine from the Mac Book but glitches arise on the DVD when playing it on a DVD player.  Any suggsts

I am trying to burn DVDs from iPhoto slideshows.  My pictures number in the hundreds and we know that iPhoto captures 99 and then "starts over".  This plays fine from the Mac Book but glitches arise on the DVD when playing it on a DVD player.  Any suggestions on how to overcome the 99 "Chapter limitation" that IPhoto has?  Has anyone heard or tried an app called Vilisoft?  I read good things but I am not sure if it will do what I want.
    Jim

Then use multipel 99 picture slideshows.
You can have up to 8 or 9 slideshows per menu.  If you add a sub menu reduce that by 1 and add 8 more to the sub menu.  The top menu can have links to up to 8 or so submenus (depends on the theme) and each submenu can have up to 8 or so slideshows.
However, converting a very large slideshow to a QT movie as Terence suggested does not envoke the 99 slide limit in iDVD.  It just becomes a single video/movie file.  So you should not have a problem with exporting at the large size, 720 x 540,
and dragging the resulting file into the iDVD menu being sure to avoid any drop zones.

  • How do I save an iPhoto slideshow on my macbook air externally?

I have a macbook air (no CD slot) and am unsure how i can save an iPhoto slideshow externally from my mac.
In the past (on my packard bell laptop) I have always burned photos to a dvd and feel comfort knowing I have the pics externally  if anything should happen to the laptop.
I am still within my 14 day money back for the mac and am unsure whether i should change it for a macbook pro which has a cd slot.
Anybody any ideas how I can solve my problem and keep my macbook air?
Also, does my iPhoto slideshow stay in the iCloud?  Not sure how iCloud works.
    Thanks in advance.

Get yourself an external Hard Drive - USB, Thunderbolt, whatever your machine has ports for - and make back ups to that. DVD and other optical media is going the way of the floppy disk and in 5 years time you'll find it hard to get any machine with a built-in optical drive.
Once you get the drive make sure it's formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - you do this with Disk Utility
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
You can also export the slideshow - File -> Export -  this process makes a movie of it.

  • Using Keynote and iPhoto slideshow together

    Computer: 12" Powerbook G4, 1.5ghz
Display: 23" Apple Cinema Display (1920x1200)
    Software: OSX 10.4.9, Keynote 2, iPhoto 6
Hi everyone! Above are the specs for the project I'm working on and here's the problem I'm having:
I am trying to create a makeshift kiosk display for an upcoming event using slides in Keynote and a picture slideshow in iPhoto. I'm planning on running it off my Powerbook to my 23" Cinema Display.
I'm using Keynote for the presentation content because of the motion effects (transitions, build-ins, etc.) and iPhoto for the image slideshow because of the Ken Burns effect (which I don't believe Keynote has). Both look great running seperately, however when this is being displayed at the show, I'll need both to run back to back automatically, without having to manually switch back and forth between applications.
I have both the Keynote presentation and the iPhoto slideshow displaying at 1920x1200. I've tried exporting the iPhoto slideshow to Quicktime, but it won't export any higher than 640x480. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make this work? I won't be able to operate the computer when this is running, so I really need to find a way to make everything run seamlessly while keeping the high resolution of the 1920x1200 monitor.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks,
    -Steve
    PB 12" 1.5ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

iMovie is a DV editing app and the final results would still make a 640X480 file.
I would change a few things to make everything work together:
First is the display resolution. You want the 23 inches to be used so just reduce the display preferences to try and match your QuickTime file. 800X600 sounds about right but larger will still work as H.264 Video scales up in size very nicely.
This would force you to "reduce" the dimensions of the Keynote file but that shouldn't be much of an issue.
QuickTime Pro could also be used to "change" the dimensions of the 640X480 file. Again, H.264 scales up in size and would look pretty good at even double size.
The goal is to have them both at the same dimension and then match the monitor resolution.
Easier to change the display than the files.

  • How to put Titles in iPhoto slideshows

I truly love the slideshows I create in iPhoto with music...
"BUT", I'd also like to add a brief comment before, during or after the slideshow, and I've found this impossible to do.
Is Apple waiting for the new upgrade to address this problem?...
I've gone into my wordprocessor "Appleworks, and text-edit", hoping I could then export/import the titles into iPhoto, but to no avail...
I enjoy creating slideshows with music, then burning them, then playing them on stereo sound television, and its a total blast for me when I view my creations.
So, Apple, or readers on this site, please help a poor old man towards the path of enlightenment, for life can truly be beautiful with "titles"...
    Thanks to all...
    QuickSilver G4 933   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Terence,
Don't know if you misunderstood my problem, but today, I found the solution to putting titles into iPhoto slideshows, and its pretty simple also.
I don't know how to enter a link here in order to include the directions on how to create titles in iPhoto..
But, briefly, create the title in any wordprocessor.
    Take a screen shot.
Drag it into an iPhoto icon
Then, drag the icon into the iPhoto library.

We have no idea what enhancements - if any - are
planned for iPhoto. What you want to do cannnot be
done with iPhoto unless you use a third part editor
to create images with the comments, and import the
images into iPhoto and then incorporate them into
your slideshow. There are other apps that can caption
and use comments. Check out PhotoToMovie from

  • Playing video in iPhoto slideshow

    hi,
I'm regularly recording video with my digital camera that is transfered to iPhoto along with all pictures. The problem is that these videos don't play when I present a slideshow of an event in my computer or in AppleTV.
I used Visual Hub to convert the .avi to .mp4 files optimized for iTunes but still these converted videos won't show up in an iPhoto slideshow. Is this a non-feature of the program or I'm doing something wrong? Can I sync videos from an iPhoto album and see them in my AppleTV?
    Thank you!

You cannot play video as part of an iPhoto slideshow. PhotoPresenter is an app that allows this.

  • Putting an iPhoto slideshow on DVD with Toast

    Hello
I have a LaCie DVD burner, bought from the Apple shop in London with Toast Titanium 6. I want to save an iPhoto slideshow to DVD. Problem is, every time I try to drag a song from the Finder to Toast, I get the message that I do not have a valid Jam license.
Can anyone please explain this to me? I am wondering if the Apple shop may have sold me the wrong product for my iBook!
    Thanks...

PS. I can now get both slide-show and music on the DVD but can't play them simulteneously.
Thanks to anyone who can advise..
