IPhoto 11 Upgrade - Themes to Creating Books, Calendars, etc...

I've recently updated my iMac to Lion then upgraded my iPhoto from 08 to iPhoto 11.  When trying to create calendars or books I get a message saying that I do not have any themes downloaded.  Did something go wrong when I downloaded the application? I

Sounds like it.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • IPhoto Freezing but ONLY when creating Books, Calendars or Cards.  Anyone know Why?

When I try to create a Book, Card or Calendar using iPhoto (version 9.1.5), the comp says "Loading" and my pointer keeps moving but it never comes up.  I haven't used this since last year and have no idea why it will not work now.

You can update from iPhoto 9.1.5 to 9.2.1 for no cost.
How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

  • Why won't iPhoto 11 in Mavericks open or create books, cards, etc?

Why won't iPhoto 11 in Mavericks open or create books, cards, etc? I can't open existing projects or create new ones. Nothing happens when I try to open a project: alsop, nothing happens when I click 'Create' when trying a make a card, book, etc. All very frustrating.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • Books, calendars, etc in Australia

I'm very impressed with the ability to create calendars and books in the new iPhoto.
Unfortunately Australia seems to be missing out. When I go to the support pages for iPhoto printing on apple.com.au, any topics end up at a "page not found" site. Any ideas on this facility will be made available to Australian users? As I would definitely be a customer!

    Hi Chris,
I know you asked this months ago but I just found it.
we've just finished printing our first few iPhoto calendars for a client. At this stage we're not promoting or advertising a service but if you'd like to get a calendar done at a very cheap 'experimental' rate, please feel free to drop me a reply and we can talk offline. At this stage we can only do calendars or cards but will probably look at books if there's enough interest.

  • How can I place one iPhoto order that includes multiple items (books, prints, etc)?

I'd like to order several books, and different prints and different sizes, etc through iPhoto. But it appears I can only order/buy/ship one item at a time... is there a way to get a "shopping cart" going so I can keep adding to it and then just do one big order and  have one shipment arrive (or at least some consolidated shipments). I don't want a separate package for each print I am ordering... will Apple do this automatically if I order 15-20 items within one hour...?
    Thanks.

    Afraid not.

  • Syncing with Multiple Address Books, Calendars, etc.

I need to be able to sync my iPhone with calendar, contacts, etc. on my PC at work and my Mac at home so I can have 1 view of my entire life.
Has anyone been able to do this?
I understand why we can only sync with 1 media library, I'm fine with that. But syncing with home and work for everything else should be fine. I've done this for years with my Palm.
    Thanks in advance.

You should be able to sync the data with more than one computer.
However, the sync between 2 different computers causes the data to merge.
So, you can sync one computer with the iphone, and when you want to sync to the second computer, itunes will want to merge the data. The data will merge both ways. So, in the end all your contacts and calendars on both computers and the iphone will be exactly the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT5037 iPhoto Library Upgrader Not Working Properly

I followed the instructions, but when i clicked 'continue' in the Library Upgrader to upgrade my older iPhoto library, the original message about how my iPhoto library needs to be upgraded popped up

What version of iPhot do you ave hat is gving you this message?
    You say
am trying to upgrade the iPhoto library to transfer it to my new MacBook Air.
Instead move the libray to the MBA and  upgrade it there using the version of iPhotot that is there  - you can not upgrade it on the old system with the old version of iPhoto
And the library upgrader does not upgrade the library - it modifies version 7 and earlier libraries so that the new version of iPhoto can upgrade them successfully
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • IPhoto v8 no themes for calendar, cards, books etc

I upgraded to iLife 08 and I now can't make any books cards etc using iPhoto. I used to be able to do fine, but since the upgrade it just says "No themes installed, this feature will remain disabled until atleast 1 theme is installed"
Does anyone know how I can get this working? I tried deleting the .plist file for iPhoto and re-install and nothing and I set up a test account and it doesn't work on that account either.
I have found the themes folder in applications support and there are loads of folders with .plist files in them - relating to the themes, so I'm guessing they have been installed but iPhoto wont have it.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Restoring iPhoto Themes
First look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation process described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
Additionally I have no idea what you are saying here

  • Creating Card/Book/Calendar Freezes iPhoto 11

Trying to create holiday cards. When go to Create>Card - get the spinning ball for long period. Go to Force Quit and it shows iPhoto (not responding). Have closed and tried it over and same thing happens. Also went to Create>Book and Create>Calendar and same thing - the spinning ball. Help please. Thanks!

Glad it worked for you folks, but not here.  Select pictures or not the machine freezes when you try to create book or calendar.  I've selected pictures and not selected pictures.  I've checked for fonts and some are missing, but I don't seem to get a custom install option from my disks.  I can view older calendars, but seem to have no options to change much of anything.
    Now what?
I've had nothing but trouble with iPhoto v9 in iLife 11.  Thankfully I still have iPhoto v8 from iLife 09.  I'll go see if that works with the library I kept in the older setup.

  • IPhoto 6 book/calendar order failures

Using iPhoto version 6 (version 6.0.6 (322)), I have tried to make my first order (3 copies of a calendar) using 12 jpg digital photos from my iPhoto library. (Upgraded to iPhoto 6 as per Apple Support advice after similar error with iPhoto 5 in early 2007 - although strangely have made successful book orders in 2006!)
However, this always fails - I get the error message "An error occurred while uploading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your file." I have tried re-sending several times, restarted completely, created a duplicate calendar, etc, but no luck, the same error message appears. I can create a PDF file without any problem. I have no other problems with iPhoto or my iMac or with other uploading/downloading, broadband connections, etc. Any ideas - is there some preference file or something that needs trashing?

Thanks Jonathan - but in my case I've been trying on and off sporadically for over 8 months! This was first on iPhoto 4, now on iPhoto 6 (Apple Support told me in April when still on iPhoto 4 that "If this does not resolve the issue for you, I would advise you to upgrade to iLife '06." - a good sales pitch on their part but it's changed nothing!).
I've tried some of the other suggested fixes, e.g. creating a new account, deleting specific files ("Preferences" - "By Host" folder and the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist"; Library - "Caches", Trash the iPhoto folder, as per http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=556861&tstart=90) but no luck.
Strangely enough, up to about January 2007 I'd successfully ordered two or three books on the old iPhoto 4 set-up. I wasn't aware of any changes to set-up - same OS etc, it just stopped working for me! Any other ideas out there?

  • IPhoto books, calendars storage area...

I have iPhoto at home and have created some books, calenders etc. The problem is I need to price these and also post them off but don't have any internet at home for the time being anyway. Where does iPhoto store these items? I have searched around the user/library but couldn't see anything.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Peter
    Greeting from sunny Clare.
iPhoto stores your books etc within the main database file. There is no way to transfer this to another library. You'll need to copy the entire library to bring it to a machine with an internet connection.
Here's a tip: duplicate the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder. Then, hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue select 'Choose Library' and open the Copy library. From these, delete any pics not in a book etc - put them in the iPhoto trash and empty it (iPhoto menu -> Empty Trash). That way you'll only bring the minimum you need with you to the machine with the internet connection.
