IPhoto 11 very slow and hangs up the computer continuously

iPhoto 11 loaded fine and transferred all my photos. It hangs up a lot when being used. Sometime for 10 or 15 seconds. I ran Disk Utility to repait any permission issues. Still have the same problems. Sometimes it not only locks up iPhoto in a loop, but the whole computer. I normally comes out of the loop, but it is a pain. Anyone else having this issue with iPhoto 11, upgrading from last iPhoto?

This performance issue, slow and locking, seems to affect Mac Pro users more than other desktop or laptop users. Wondering if it could be a graphic card issue (my thinking) since Mac Pros had a graphic card problem earlier. Try rebuilding the library with just Options #1 and #6. If that doesn't help try again with #1 and #2.
Is your library on your boot drive? How much free space on your boot drive (with a Mac Pro I've thinking this is not a problem but have to ask)?
Do you have a backup of your iPHoto 09 library? If so keep it safe.

HT1338 Is there a Mac System Clean-up? My computer is running very slow and freeze all the times

I don't know why my computer is running very slow and keeps freezing all the times. It would take at least 2-3 min to load up after the not using it for 5 min. For instance when I type my paper or doing anything on the computer and leave for a fews min after come back it would not start and the icon keeps on spinning.

Pretty much all "clean-up" utilities will just make things worse.
You need to determine what it is that is causing the problem.
How much RAM do you have?
For the following, report what you get when the system is running slow and beachballing.
Open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder) and click on System Memory tab at the bottom of the screen. What does it say for Page Outs?
Also, at the top of the window, select All Processes. Click on the %CPU header until the arrow points down. Anything pop up at the top of the list that is using a very high percentage of CPU?
What you describe can be caused by incompatible third-party software. Boot into Safe mode and see if the problems still exist. Safe mode will be a little slower than normal, but you shouldn't see the system freeze up.

5800 XM - very slow and hangs

For no apparent reason my 5800XM froze and I had to remove the battery to restart. After that it has been working but has become very slow, you can see the different applications open and close and a little "button" goes red or green and flashing for a few seconds before applications open or close. Sometimes it hangs, especially after incoming calls, but can be restarted by the powerbutton. At other times the buttons in the touchscreen hangs when I press them, producing gazillions of the same letter or number in the screen.
I tried to check for my firmware (?) version by dialing *#0000#, but I get an error message, so I don't know my version.
Can anyone help?

It's not about having much on your card or not.
I've seen it happen a few times with the 5800 and other models where a slightly corrupt memory card will cause the phone to run very slowly. The solution to that is to format or replace the card.
If you are certain that the card isn't the cause try these codes. If the first one doesn't help it try the second. You enter them like dialing a phone number. Be sure to back up anything you want to keep as the second code will fully reset the phone and remove all of your data from the phones memory.
Reset to factory defaults (*#7780#) : Restores settings but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)
Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.

Turning photostream on makes Iphoto very slow and unresponsive.

When i enable Photostream either through the settings or directly from Iphoto it causes Iphoto to become very slow and unresponsive.
When i click on an album to view it takes around 60 seconds for the album to open, when it finally opens all the thumbnails are blurry and scrolling through the album is virtually impossibe.
If i then turn of Photostream everything is fine.
Im using a late 2011 Air with 4gb memory and i have around 132gb of free space on the drive.

I just sorted an issue I had. When checking the photsteam box in iPhot preferences it unchecked straight away.

IPhoto very slow and Quit

I just imported about 8000 pictures to my new imac from a windows pc. Since I made the import the computer runs VERY slow when iPhoto is open and iPhoto runs especially slow. In addition, when I click the red x to close (but not quit) the program it stalls for about ten seconds then completely shuts down (quits). Any suggestions would be great!

Wow, that must be frustrating!
How much RAM do you have in your machine?
When you start getting that large of a library in iPhoto, it has been known to bog down, and slow down quite a bit. Generating all of the thumbnails can be an issue, and hadnling the scrolling through the main library display can become awfully slow as well.
Although it applies to an earlier version of iPhoto, try reading this particular article. The suggestions it gives on breaking up your Library into manageable chunks transcends versions.

Now the laptop completed 14 months and I did recovery lots of time because of the problems and stuck I have from it.
last day I did the recovery and I noticed that the laptop become more and more slowly !!!
it takes about 5 minutes to start !!!!!!! not just that,,,after started and open any folder you will notice how slowly it is. Even videos I can't open it because the laptop will stuck and play the video very very slow!!

First of all I would recommend checking the HDD for errors HDD malfunction might affect the computer performance you should check the HDD using the freeware toolsone of the tools which I use is the Drive Fitness Test it was posted several times here in the forum and its really great software.
If the HDD would be ok and if no error would be detected, then I would recommend disabling some processes which are not important for you in many cases different tools would be loaded during the OS boot procedure and such tools run in the background which slow down the OS.
Start msconfig and check the Startup Tab
Here you will see all the software which is loaded at the beginning you can uncheck not necessary tools
Note: if you are not sure what the single process means, use google and search in internet for more details otherwise dont disable this.

When I boot my early 2011 macbook pro it is now very slow and pull us the (Command R) window... Pictures Included.

Installed Safari update 6.1.1 for Lion today. Browser now running very slow and keep getting the "spinning pizza".

I installed the Safari update 6.1.1 today for Lion. Now my browser running very slow, keeps locking up & getting the "spinning wheel". It stops spinning eventually, but recurs constantly when I try to navigate elsewhere, including within this site. Screen also jumpy/almost flickering. Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Just check the box beside “Remove all website data”.
Click "Reset".

Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.
If that doesn't solve the issue, you should back up & restore through iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test.

My MacBook is very slow and constantly has the spinning beach ball of death!!!

In the last couple if weeks my MacBook has suddenly slowed down a LOT. Sometimes it takes ages for it to boot up when I turn it on and at other times not as long. Then once I log in, as soon as I click on something, the spinning beach ball appears and won't go away so I have to force it to restart.
It runs a little bit faster in safe mode and if I log in as a guest user, but it's still relatively slow.
So far I have tried the following:
- starting in safe mode
- resetting PRAM
- turning off then pressing ctrl, option, left shift and the power button for 10 seconds then turn it back on
- repairing disk permissions
I've been told that it might be best to reformat my mac, but in order to do this I need to back up. I bought a Seagate Back Up Plus 1TB and tried to use time machine. After a while a message popped up saying "Time Machine Error. Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.". There is something on my hard drive, but I cant tell if my mac has fully backed up or not.
Any suggestions?

Your major problem is that you installed Norton/Symantec. If offers no benefit and only slows your Mac. I suspect yopur computer will run much better if you uninstall it and pledge not to treat your Mac like it is a Windows computer.
WDSmartWare has slowed down my computers before so I no longer use it.
There may be other things at play but it will be hard to tell with Norton/Symantec in the way.

Oracle database is very slow and hangs sometime

I am using Oracle 11g on Red hat 5.2 . My RAM is of 6 GB and swap size is 12GB . When I checked the used RAM and Swap area by using $ free -m command it shows that enough free memory (almost 4990 GB and swap space (more than 10GB) is available to use. Then I checked an alert.log file as my database was hanged . It contains error like
1. audit commit delay exceeded oracle
2. unable to spawn jobq slave process oracle
3. maximum number of sessions exceeded
4. could not allocate new resource
My init.ora contains following parameters.
Processes =150
Sessions= 248
Transactions = 220
memory_target = 2400m
sga_max_size = 1500m
sga_target = 0m
So, what steps i should take to stop database hanging and how can i boost slow performance ? Is there any problem with my resource manager and if so then how can i correct it?

Hi,
Please check the query
SELECT username,default_tablespace from dba_users;
Ususally the default tablespace of the user should not be in SYSTEM tablespace. This might cause performance issue. Create a seperate tablespace and alter/assign this user. Also must move all the objects from SYSTEM tablespace to this new tablespace which you created.

Ever since downloading the OS X Maverick on my MacBookPro it is sluggish, very slow and constantly get the spinning beach ball...any fixes?

Since downloading the OS X Maverick my computer has been sluggish. Never had this issue until this download. Is there a way to remove OS X Maverick or another fix?
