IPhoto 11 won't let me buy book due to unplaced photos, but they are there!

I have created many photo books in both iPhoto and Aperture and this has not happened before.  I click on the Buy Book button and it says I have unplaced photos and takes me to a page that clearly has all the photos placed. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

You are missing one or more photos - usually on a page requireing a full page photo that is behind places photos - every page must have either a photo or a colored background - if you have any grey backgrounds thoses are problems - in several years I've never seen that error be incorrect

  • Ordering books-iphoto 08 won't let me buy books i made in previous versions

help! i just upgraded last night to iphoto08, but tried to order books i'd made in previous versions today and i'm getting the message that "item is not available" or something to that effect. the books show up as i made them, but i can't order hard copies. do i have to recreate the books? or is there something i can do?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I had a book, the Storybook theme, in progress when I converted. iPhoto gave me a warning that the theme was no longer available but I could continue with the as long as I didn't try changing to another theme and then change back. However, that theme had the dust jacket feature instead of the photo on the front cover.
If you still have or have access to iPhoto 6 you could create a new library and recreate the book with that theme and see if you can order it. I'm thinking of trying the same thing.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • It won't let me Buy Book.

    Dear Forum,
I have a photo book to purchase in iPhoto 09. When I go to Buy Book, it shows me the Low Quality message which is normal, but when I click OK, it just stops there. Now I recently installed Snow Leopard and I haven't purchased a book since. Any suggestions.

I can not purchase a book as well. Computer keeps saying my account has been changed and I need to confirm it before buying. I keep doing what I think is confirming my account, then I order the book all over again and the cycle begins again. Would like to solve this quickly as this is a Christmas gift.

  • IPhoto '08 Won't let me order book

    Hey guys-
I'm trying to create a book in iPhoto '08. The book is made, no gray fields for photos, anything. When I click on the "buy book" button, it gives me an error message saying that al of the fields are not filed in an thus cannot order a book, however when I create a book without anything in it, it goes through to the order page just fine. Any help with this? Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks!!!!

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
If you do not have a missing photo (you state that the error "missing field" - is this correct?) then you probably have a text field with nothing in it - every text field on the cover , inside cover and on page layouts has to have something in it - even if it is only a single space
If the message is re photos then read this discussion.

  • IPhoto 6-won't let me buy a book!

So I decided to make a book as a suprise to the grandparents this year...finally collated all of the pictures, did the layout...clicked 'buy'
it gives me the warning that I have some lo-res photos...I know this & understand & don't care, I still want them in the book the way I laid it out...so I click 'ok' to the "One or more photos in your book may print at too low a quality based on the design you have chosen. Do you want to continue?" prompt...
at which point NOTHING happens....I quit, I restart...nada...bupkis...same thing
anyone else seen this? any ideas on where to go from here?
    TIA

    Michael:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It's not the low res issues that's preventing the process from going further. It seems to be an issue with the application. First run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. See if that will help.
If you have another account you can log into it, create a test book with a couple of images and see if you can start the purchase procedure over there (you can abort the process as soon as you get to the order window). If it doesn't work there then it's probably a problem with the application and you'll need to reinstall it. as follows:
    >Reinstall iPhoto, update to 6.0.4 and then again to 6.0.5 ( the 6.0.5 updater works only 6.0.4). The repair disk permissions again. I'd make a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file inside your library folder just in case. It will get you back to your current situation in the library in case of any problems. If you have room a temp copy of the entire iPhoto Library folder would be a good idea also. You don't want to jeopardize the work you've put into the book.
If you do try a reinstall of iPhoto you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
If it work in the other account then there's an incompatibility in your primary account and you'll need to do some more troubleshooting. Give the above a try and post back.

I am having the same problem and now my book is all horked after trying desperately to get it to work. I thought Mac software "just worked"... anyone have an answer here? I would hate like **** to take my photos to FlickR and have to create another book.

  • Iphoto 7.1.5- unable to buy book due to error in account information

After downloading the new iphoto version 7.1.5, I am unable to order my iPhoto book (as I have done several times before). I receive and error message that says
"An error occurred while confirming your account information."
I checked my account and internet connectivity and all is fine. only iPhoto is not working.
    Suggestions?
    thanks very much!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'd take Glo H's suggestion one step further and replace all account information online.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Trying to combine folders within LR4 from two separate drives without creating duplicates--sometimes it won't let me transfer to destination folder because it says files are there when they are not; other times, allows duplicates to transfer

Trying to consolidate 261K+ of images within LR4 between two drives.  Someone who was "helping" me with my Library in LR4 for some reason took some but not all of the file folders from my main backup drive (M) and duplicated them onto a partitioned hard drive (E) directly on the computer.  The duplication is huge, so I am trying to condense them all back onto the original backup drive M, particularly since I believe there are also folders on the partitioned backup drive E that do not appear on the main one M, and there are many more file folders on M that are not on E, so that is the destination drive.
CONSOLIDATION:  When I try to drag either the file folders or the individual files from the duplicate drive E to the original drive M to combine the two drives since the folders in many cases for some reason are not identical, sometimes LR4 says the files already exist when they clearly don't. Other times it allows me to drag and drop all files, even if the exact duplicates are already on the destination drive, thereby doubling the number of files per image and creating more duplicates.  Right now I am opening each file folder on the duplicate drive E, looking at what extensions and file names are there, scrolling to the original drive, making sure they appear to be identical, then going back to the duplicate drive E, deleting the images in the folder, removing the folder, and moving to the next folder on the duplicate drive E.  *There has got to be a simpler way.*
CONSOLIDATION APPROACH: I did start to create file folders names A, B, C and group file folders under them to reduce clutter, since those header folders can be closed down when not in use, but now I am wondering if I should have done that alphabetization to the main backup drive rather than to the partitioned backup drive.
My goal is to consolidate the two drives down to one, delete as many images along the way that I know I will never miss, then backup the catalog and export it to an external drive and then copy that to yet another drive for offside storage.  Does this sound like the proper plan?  Last time it took almost 24 hours and over a terabyte to export the catalog.
DUPLICATION:  I also have many file folders that have the exact same image in them.  One portfolio image may actually be in eight different folders, with the exact file, file name, file size, and date, even though I always have checked "no duplicates on import,"  How can this be? What is the best way to sort through duplicates?  Why are the files in some of the duplicate folders not in numerical order? If I do a search and call up a file # and find 15 duplicates, the only way I can find where those duplicates reside is to take each duplicate, right click to Locate Folder in Library, then once I find it, I have to go back to All Photographs>Text.search for file #, go to the second duplicate, right click to Locate Folder in Library, then once I find it, I have to do it all again.  Is there a simpler way to see all the occurrences in their respective folder locations at once?
SEARCH BY FILE FOLDER NAME ONLY: I also find I can't search for a file using a folder name (for example, "John_Doe").  I can only search by file #, keywords, or camera/lens/date, etc.  Why will it not work to use All Photographs>Text>search for Doe? In other words, if I didn't keyword the individual files as John Doe, I can't search for them by that moniker.
BACKUP:  It also appears that the only way I can back up the catalog is to shut down LR.  Really?!
FOLDER LIST PRINTOUT: Is there a way to print out the Folder list (other than a screen shot)? I have so many file folders on each drive since I sort not by Year/Month/Date but by subject. It makes trying to compare duplicate folders quite unwieldy.
SLOW RESPONSE:  And finally, as though that weren't enough, why does LR4 continually blink to a white screen after each keystroke?  Takes forever just to be able to click through images, view info after hovering, etc. All other programs are closed down and the operating system shows very little memory being used.

A brief and probably non-helpful answer: I know of no way to eliminate your large amount of duplicates other than by repetitive, tedious manual effort.
*There has got to be a simpler way.*
I hope you're right, but I don't think there is a simpler way.
BACKUP:  It also appears that the only way I can back up the catalog is to shut down LR.  Really?!
    Yes, really

How do I get purchased audiobooks to show up in the iBooks app?

That is correct - you must have a photo in every photo frame to order

  • My ipad1 won't let me download books, apps or even update apps, it says delete pictures

My ipad1 won't let me download books, apps or even update apps, it says delete pictures & videos to make room for downloads but I do not have on my iPad pictures or video & I barley have any extra apps!!

The operating system takes up about 2GB, so that's why your 16 GB iPad has 14 GB capacity.  And if you only have 687mbs left, it means you don't have much space left to add to your iPad.  Do you have lot's of videos/Books/Music/Apps/Pictures on your iPad.  If you do and you want to add more, you're going to have to delete things before you can add more.

  • My iPod won't let me buy anything from iTunes or the App Store. How can i fix this?

I have an iPod 4th Generation thats almost a year old. Recently, I traveled, and when I did, I put my iPod on Airplane mode and when i touched down, my iPod was acting up like crazy! For instance, when i would try and edit certain pictures, it would completely restart itself, and then it wouldn't let me listen to half the music that I had on it. Now that I am back home, I synced my iPod to my computer, and evrything went back to normal... or so I thought it did. Now I can't buy new apps, or songs, or update any of my existing applications. I am getting very frustrated with this and it's starting to get on my nerves!!! I would like to know why this is happening, and if I can do anything to help it. I also tried to re-sync it and it didn't work.

Dmitri2217Did you notice that the post you are replying to is almost a year old?
Apple is not reporting any problems currently.

  • Itunes store won't let me buy anything, why?

ok, i just got up the nerve to buy a $50 itunes card first time, now i feel like i was duped, it won't let me buy anything, i redeemed the points, look in the store and decided the first thing i wanted to get was the ipod touch upgrade, i click on it and it asks me for my apple id password, i enter it correctly click "Buy" and then asks me for the password again and this time instead of the button saying "buy" its says "billing info" now it now takes me to the page and all the info is right, im not using a card because i don't have one and i don't think i should need one because i have the itunes points which is clearly displayed beside my account name on the itunes program. now after i click done it just takes me back to the itunes store home page... so then i think maybe the update just isn't available at the moment, so then i look up the app "video safe" and try to buy it, same exactly thing happens, someone plzz help, im confused as to y i am not able to buy anything, i have the points, id like to use them
    Message was edited by: insightdesigns

apple should really make that clear, thats the reason i bought the points for in the first place, to get apps and the update. man this *****, ok so pretty much if i don't have a credit card then im screwed right? i can't get the update or get apps unless they are free? are there app cards or something i can buy in order to buy them? kuz i can't get a credit card and i want to get this stuff, and if im not mistaken isn't this bad? its stopping ppl from spending money on this stuff, its cutting profit, if you could use it for all of it then im sure ppl would buy them alot more, kuz its "re-donk-u-less" that they don't have an easier way to get the stuff like apps and upgrades unless you hav a credit card. idk man, is apple going to change that anytimes soon?

  • I have money on my account but it won't let me buy anything...

Okay, so i've bought a $15.00 itunes card and redeemed it on the store. I got the message that it was valid and that it is now in my account. PROBLEM: I tried to download an app and it first says: buy or cancel. i press buy then it goes to payment info. required. i put my password in and click billing info... I don't know what to do from here... I have money on my account but it still asks for billing info... i have no credit card to put down so what do i do?

I have money on my account but it won't let me buy anything....
    Yes it will.
In Canada, you cannot buy apps with iTunes gift certificates but you can buy music, tv shows and movies.
