Iphoto 2. importing pics that disappeared makes two copies ?

how can i keep this from happening ?
when i import the photos that actually just disappeared from my library, there are two. one regular size (2.3mb or so) and on that is 13kbs or so.
whats up with this ? and how can i avoid it ?
i thought that trying to import the "data" from each month's past photos would work, but no luck there either.
please help. the last thing i want to do on my sunday if take forever deleting these dumb aliases from my library.
cant wait to upgrade this software is really rough. once i got over 1000 pics in here it ran slow as whatever goes slow..

i know what you mean, and no, thats not whats happening..
it was just a random dissappearance.. for real very very strange.
then upon re-import of the photos that in my my lib i get two..
but you remind me i'll just select all of the "real"images for import, one by one i guess so that i dont have the aliases in there too.
any other way ?

  • IPhoto won't import pics from either of two Canon cameras all of a sudden.

I plug the Canon camera into the USB and attempt to import pics as have always done.  Currently have 18,000 pics so have done this lots before.  All of a sudden, the camera shows up on the left side of the screen, the pictures show up, but I can't get the IMPORT ALL or IMPORT SELECTED to activiate.  I disconnect the camera (appropriately) and try to exit out of iPhoto only to have a warning tell me to wait until Import is complete.  No photos ever show up and no import ever completes.  I can't force quit so have to hard quit and restart my computer.  What to do?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Are there any specific codecs or import libraries that will make Premiere 6 use more file types?

Are there any specific codecs or import libraries that will allow Premiere 6 to import more file types?  I'm using Premiere 6 on Windows 7.
It seems that the only kind of file that can be imported in to this version of Premiere are certain types of AVI files... even some types of AVIs will import but then will not appear when placed in the timeline... no MPGs, MP4s, WMVs, or anything else will import at all.
Virtually every file that I need to bring in to Premiere 6 has to be converted to AVI with the H.264 codec first.
    Any help would be helpful.

    Hi Bill and John,
    Thanks for your replies.
My inquiry isn't as much to do with the AVIs that won't import as it is to do with figuring out the way that I can make MPGs, MP4s, MOVs and WMVs import in to Premiere 6.
The AVIs that do import were converted or created using the H.264 codec.  I do know a little about codecs, but I don't hold the PhD in codecs that is apparently required to completely understand them.
Below is the chart from the Premiere Elements 4 page at this link... http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402540.html
So, if I understand correctly, Bill is saying the Premeire Elements 4 is actually newer than Premiere 6 and that the Pr Elements apps will actually import more movie file formats than the regular versions of Premiere and Premiere Pro?... for someone trying to learn about these apps, one must admit that this seems to be reverse logic... this would be saying that Adobe gave the cheaper "consumer" versions of Premiere the ability to work with 3 or 4 more movie file formats than the more expensive "pro-sumer" version of Premiere.

The built-in web browser instruction manual in Premiere 6 shows this statement on the "Importing Clips" page, as shown in my screenshot linked above...
"File format support is provided by plug-in software  modules. Over time, additional or updated file formats may be available  from Adobe or other manufacturers, such as QuickTime."
This indicates that additional file format support can be added to Premiere 6 by "plug-in software modules", and that "over time, additional or updated file formats" were predicted to become available that would be supported by the file format manufacturers, such as Adobe themselves and other manufacturers such as QuickTime.
Since that was written ten years ago or more, there has certainly been the chance for these additional "plug-in software modules" to be developed "over time"... so I'm asking, "Where are they available?"
What I'm saying is, I will do my homework to earn at least my Bachelor's degree in codecs, but more than an education in codecs, I need to find these mysterious, "plug-in software modules" for Premiere 6 that Adobe wrote about and referred to over ten years ago.
Thanks for any clues as to where to locate these "plug-in software modules".

  • Iphoto lost imported pics?

    Hi there
Today I downloaded around 300 photos onto iphoto. As per usual when I finished, iphoto asked me if I wanted to deleted the photo's from my camera, I did, to later find out that the photo's are no where to be found in iphoto or on my mac! so annoyed that I selected them to be deleted from my camera, because I could have imported them again, however now they are gone! I thought, that iphoto asking me if the photos should be deleted from the camera the photos were imported from was confirmation that the photos have been successfully imported. So upset, what can I do?
    Hope you can help
    Lucy

You can recover the photos from your SD card with apps like MediaRecover or Picture Rescue
Never let your computer erase data without you first checking that the data is safe. Specifically never use iPhoto (or any other app) to delete the photos from your Camera Card. Disconnect the camera, check the transfer has gone correctly and then use your Camera to Reformat the Card. This has three advantages:
    1. You know your data is safe - because you've taken the time to check it.
    2. Reformatting the card is much, much faster - takes a couple of seconds
    3. Reformatting also refreshes the Directory Structure on the Card, helping prevent issues with the card and prolonging its life.

  • Why does Time Machine make two copies when backing up

I use Time Machine to back up to an external harddrive and it is duplicating files, how can I fix this?

Daisy Duke is a third party software app I bought on App Store that helps to find easily find files that you no longer want or need and delete to create more HD space.  I don't believe that I reformatted the source volume, is there a way to check for that.  I have been doing some research that talks about multiple users,  DD did show me the files under two different users and I wonder if it showing me the file but is not really on there twice.  As you can probably tell by now I can get around a computer for personal use but do not have much hardware or software experience.

  • HT1349 i need help importing movies that came with digital copies

need to know how to import digital copy movies that came with purchased movis from store if system does not automaticly start disc when inserted in player

Encore likes to work with DVD-compliant files, like DV-AVI, MPG2 (transcoded to DVD specs), PCM-WAV files and the like. MOV files are usually handled pretty well too, as you have seen.
Your AVIs are probably DivX encoded, or similar, and you'll need to install the DivX CODEC (free for the PC, but have no clue about the MAC). Those are also heavily compressed files, and when you transcode before burning the DVD, they'll be re-compressed more. The quality might suffice, but they will not look good.
I do not know file format conversion programs for the MAC, but there are a ton of freeware, shareware and full-commercial ones available. DigitalMediaConverter (for PC) is ~US$40 and works well with a lot of different files in different schemes, both Audio & Video. You still need the proper CODECs on your machine to decode and then the proper CODECs to encode during the conversion. It might take some Googling, but you should be able to find both the file conversion programs and the necessary CODECs on the Web.
On PC, I use a little freeware program, G-Spot, to tell me all the details of any problem file. It might be available for MAC, but I do not know. It won't convert, or fix your files, or your system, but will tell you almost anything you'll need to know, especially the CODEC used and if your system has that one installed.
Good luck, and sorry that I know nothing of the software available for the MAC.

  • BizTalk 2010 File to File App - make two copies

    Hi there,
I'm learning how to develop applications in BizTalk.
I crated a simple "file to file" app, expected behavior is that when I drop any file in the rec folder it will get processed, it's name will be appended of the current date-time and it will be put in the snd folder.
All works fine except that sometimes there are two files being created not one.
Example I drop a file named a.txt to rec and two files appear in the snd folder:
    2014-04-25T094304a.txt
    and
    2014-04-25T094303a.txt
Also, this not always happens. Most of the time  I'm just getting a single file.
When  I added the %MessageID% to the port configuration, it turns out BizTalk creates two different messages
    Example:
Also, I can see no errors in BizTalk :(

Try using messaging only approach as this type of scenario can be achieved using the messaging only approach.
Just put a filter on the sendport and provide the details of the receive location in the filter.
I agree with la cour, this scenario doesnt demand an orchestartion. I have answered a question on messaging only approach and it also gives you details on how to catch exceptions if using the fault messages routing. If you want you can
    refer to this post.
    Thank You.

  • Iphoto wont import my pics.

    Hiya,
I have a new camera an Olympus Tough. Iphoto imported about 5 pics and then refused.
I dont like olympus master and really want my pics in iphoto.
It tells me they are in an unrecognized format..
    but this is the format:
    /Pictures/iPhoto Library/Import/Originals/Roll 1/P1230001.JPG
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    /Pictures/iPhoto Library/Import/Originals/Roll 1/P1230001.JPG
Why are you trying to import pics that are already in the Library? iPhoto won't import pics that are in the Library folder - a precaution against duplicates.
    Regards

  • Why do I see two copies of every photo when I sync my iPhone or iPad with iPhoto?

Whenever i plug in my iPhone to sync, iPhoto automatically opens.
There are always two copies of every photo I have taken since my last sync. I have to throw one out before syncing.
    Why is that?

CTNKnoblock you can remove the CC versions and continue to utilize the Creative Suite 6 license and applications already installed on your computer.  You can find details on how to remove the CC versions at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
If you do receive a message that your Creative Suite 6 is in trial mode then choose the License this Software option and enter your Adobe ID and serial number.
Finally if you wish to install a fresh copy of Creative Suite 6 you can download the installation files at Download CS6 products.

  • Can a catalog have references to two copies of an image?

    Here is what I mean.
My workflow is such that when I import images from my CF card lighroom makes two copies of the images. copy 1 to local drive and copy two to NAS drive (backup). I than filter and work on the images on the local drive. On a usual basis I run a syncing program that syncs the local drive files with the NAS files (changes, deletions, addition etc.) This way I always have two updated copies (actually 3 copies since the NAS is in RAID1) of the files.
Now, if my local drive crashes (the files I do all the work on), my plan was to be able to get the backup files copied into a new local drive and continue as if nothing happened. Will that work? Will the lightroom catalog recognize the newly copied files and apply all of the correct setting (ratings, adjustments etc.)
Luckily this hasn't happend yet, but the whole point of backing up is to be ready for when it does.
    Thanks for any info.
    Michael

Excellent. Thanks fo the answer. I actually just tested it out earlier today with some garbage images.
deleted them from the hard disk--> opend lightrrom which obviously couldn't find them, closed lightrrom. Copied the images back to the local drive and opened lightrrom again. The images were there with all data intact.
I guess I finally found a working workflow that gets backed up as well, and with no manual copying etc.
    Gotta love Lightrrom!
    thx again.

  • Two copies of iTunes on one computer?

A pretty stupid problem, but I can't figure it out. It appears that there are two copies of iTunes on one of our computers--or at least, iTunes somehow displaying two different profiles. If I have "start iTunes automatically" checked, when I connect the iPod, iTunes opens, and it shows the location of the Library file as on the workstation's local HD. Conversely, if I use the shortcut icon on the desktop to open iTunes, it points to a Library location on a network shared drive (which is where I want it to be).
I cannot for the life of me figure out where the two copies, if they exist, of the iTunes.exe file are located. The Properties for the shortcut iTunes icon is grayed out in the "find Target" box. I can find one copy of iTunes in the local c:\Programs\iTunes folder. Control Panel Add/Remove Programs list shows only one iTunes program. Is there any way to figure this out?

  • IPhoto library - Events - pics imported from camera, scanner and internet - it doesn't seem to matter - for a while they show OK but then when I go into the event and start scrolling some--but not all--pics disappear w/ ? small and expanded.

iPhoto Library - events - pics imported to library from camera, scanner and internet.  Some disappear--sometimes when scrolling and other times on their own.  Some disappear when in general event and some when I try to expand the picture.  If when expanding the small pic remains.  It's really annoying.

Are you running a "referenced" or "managed" library?
    Give this a try:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

The trash remains empty, yet the pic is gone, and I never even emptied the trash (because it never made it to the trash)! How to recover the album I just accidently made disappear in this way?

Sorry - there have been no updates to that system for a long time

  • Why does iPhoto not recognize the .jpg pics from a Kodak C875 now? I can stick my memory card in the iMac and import them that way, but iPhoto will not import the pics from the camera.

Why does iPhoto not recognize the .jpg pics from a Kodak C875 now? I can stick my memory card in the iMac and import them that way, but iPhoto will not import the pics from the camera.

There have been many issues reported with Kodak cameras - serach the forums for them
Actually the best practise is to use a card reader to import your photos, verify that they are imported ocrrectly and wait at least one backup cycle and then use the camera's format command to reformat the card and erase it - this assures no lost photos and always having the card properly formatted
