IPhoto 4.0.3 won't start
Hi,
my iPhoto won't start properly. It'll start up but then it gets stuck with the message "loading photos".
It is iPhoto 4.0.3 . I downloaded a 4.0.3 update for iPhoto but when I try to install it it says that "iPhoto updater cannot be installed on this computer. Neither iPhoto 4.0 nor iPhoto 4.0.1 could not be found in /Applications."
Yet it IS in the Applications folder.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
m*
Not that I understand programing but I was able to find this after double clicking iphoto.exe in one of the folders...

Start iPhoto and immediately press and hold the option+shift keys until you're asked to confirm that you want to rebuild your library. Click "Yes", then click "Save". Depending on how many photos you have, you can go grab a sandwich. iPhoto 4 may crash upon finishing the rebuild, but it's nothing to worry about. Just restart iPhoto normally, and you should be back in business.
You probably have a corrupt album (or keywords) somewhere, so you may find you need to do some minor reconstruction.

IPhoto won't start... Icon bounces a few times and stops
Hey Guys,
I'm using iPhoto now for a long time, but a few weeks ago it simply stopped working... My iPhoto Version: 9.5.1 on Mavericks 10.9.1
When I double-click the icon it bounces a few times and then disappears again. I tried already many different solutions like repairing disk permissions or deleting the plist-files, rebuilding the iPhoto library doesn't work because the app won't start...
Can anybody help me?
Thank you already now for helping me
Macbook Pro Late 2011
Mac OS X 10.9.1 MavericksI found the solution by myself after long time using google...
Mac Console said the following:
"Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/Versions/A/NyxAudioAnalysis
Referenced from: /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Frameworks/iLifeSlideshow.framework/Versions/ A/iLifeSlideshow
Reason: image not found"
Here I found the solution for all who need it:
http://www.sanebutdifferent.com/iphoto-11-nyxaudioanalysis-crash-error
Simply downloading a new NyxAudioAnalysis.framework and replacing/copying it to the location shown by Console solved everything!
Good Luck! -
Okay, I opened up iPhoto after installing the latest update (6.0.2) and now iPhoto won't start up. I tried reinstalling from the iLife 06' DVD, and it still won't work.
(By the way, I'm using Front Row enabler, if that helps at all)Hi patricia,
" Unable to upgrade this library because the current user does not have access"
-First make sure your Pictures folder has the correct permissions for you, the user. Do this by highlightling the Pictures folder, hit Command i to bring up the info pane.
Make sure you are the owner and have read and write permissions. Click the button at the bottom of the window.
-If your problem is a locked file/files follow the info in the following Apple kb

If all this fails you might want to try BatCHmode.

iphoto won't start because I need Library Upgrader? where can I get I as don't have the original disc.
Sounds like you have a damaged library7 To check launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a test library. If you can import a few photos. If that works then your original library is damaged so make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

IPhoto won't start after upgrade 1.1 for my new iMac. Now what do I do?
Had to upgrade according to screen. iPhoto won't start after upgrade 1.1 for my new iMac. Now what do I do?
I have restarted the computer. Brand new iMac intel. v 10.9.4You need to upgrade iPhoto for Mavericks. Download the upgrade using App Store.

had a new hard drive installed last month. now iphoto won't start up, popup says "you can't open the application iphoto because it may be damaged or incomplete". can this be repaired without going to the repair shop?
What installed iPhoto there in the first place? Was it the same version of iPhoto that came with the Mac? Was iLife added at a later time from a Mac Box Set? You can selectively install iPhoto, and then apply the appropriate iLife update without taking it to the shop, after removing the application, or recover it from your backup.

IPhoto won't start (Missed theme font)
This is my first Apple experience at all and I'm enjoying it, but I have encountered a problem.
iphoto won't start, it just says: "The font required to run this application is missing"
I'm in Mavericks 10.9.3, fresh installation with few programs, I never touched any fonts or anything in font book.
I tried to reinstall with no luck ... so I don't know which is the problem.
Here just few lines of error log:
Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'System font path not found in bundle at path: /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Frameworks/ProKit.framework'
abort() called
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
No problem so far with imovie, just iphoto let me go crazy.
Any idea to solve the issue?Open FontBook. It's in your Applications folder.
From the FontBook menu bar click File > Restore Standard Fonts
Restart your Mac then try iPhoto. -
IPhoto won't start after upgrade
I just upgraded iPhoto, and when I try to start I get the "application unexpectedly quit" message before it ever opens. Any ideas?
Start with this basic fix: trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

10.4.7. iMac 20" CoreDuo won't start any more
I did upload 10.4.7 yesterday together with iPhoto, iPod, iTunes (6.0.5.) and some other recent updates (altogether there were five, I cannot recall the last one). At first I did notice some “ticking” inside the iMac (2.0 GB RAM) every now and then, let’s say few minutes apart. That has never been heard before. Then this morning I noticed that iTunes was very slow. I did add few of my cd’s, and when attached the cover photo to the lower left corner the iTunes did update it very slowly, I think it took 1-2 minutes to add a photo to 12-15 songs. Then I did call Apple support (case #653790xx). The call took over an hour since everything I did on my computer was like slow motion. We did use DiskRepair and looked at the Console. When restarting the iMac it took several minutes, and when using safe re-start (shift on after re-start) the OS didn’t recognize my bluetooth keyboard. Then I was given advice to reload 10.4.7 from Apple’s site and install it again. Also I was asked to do Hardware Test (from install DVD). When I did try to re-install 10.4.7 there was an error after 71% uploaded, the installer asked to do that again. Then I did Hardware Test as advised, but there were no errors found (I did extended test with looping on and took several rounds). Next, when I tried to restart iMac from hard drive (Macintosh HD 10.4.7), it stopped repeatedly on Mac OS X window. Now I’m stucked, my iMac won’t start any more (I’m writing this by Windows machine, can you imagine?!)
I don’t know what’s wrong, but I have used Macintosh from 1987 (IIcx) and never, never before I have had these kind of problems. I suggest so far, that you take care when installing 10.4.7 on Intel iMac, I guess there might be a problem. I wonder why there is not email support for these kinds of problems and alert messages…? I’ll leave sailing tomorrow for two weeks and cannot report this by phone.
iMac 20" (CoreDuo) Mac OS X (10.4.7)Only way to get iMac starting again was to re-install 10.4.4 from DVD, and then update it into 10.4.6. For a while it worked perfectly, just as before.
Then I tried to print to CD with my EPSON Stylus Photo 950 from Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0). It didn't print anything, but printer started flashing all lights. The print job was not performed, so I did remove it from the Printer Utility. After that the iMac started "ticking" again, same noise than before, after 10.4.7 installation. I did re-boot iMac. It never started, it does stuck on gray screen (gray block running clockwise). HW test from DVD didn't find any problems (extended search looping 3 times). But Disk Utility found hard drive to have inaccurate node structure, it could not fix it.
Apple support recommended to use DiskWarrior. However, it does not support (yet) Intel Macs. I haven't got TechTool Pro 4.5.1 anywhere. iMac does start on to FireWire mode (T at boot), but I cannot see the disk from 10.2.8 iMac.
So, obvisously the problem is not 10.4.7. I believe it to be ESPON printer driver compatibility on Mac OSX. This does not suprise me, EPSON printers *****, I shall never purchase one again. However, disk catalog structure should not get messed by one faulty printer driver! -
Yesterday it worked perfectly, now it won't start up.
Hello there, My pc is working on Windows Vista, no problems. Yesterday (and before) all worked perfectly and to day I have downloaded my email, used I.E. but my mozilla firefox won't start up. I have (double) checked the registry for flows (with Registry Booster and Winferno R. Power cleaner) nothing wrong. I have closed down my pc and rebooted without result.
Awaiting your advice, with friendly greetings

IPhoto quits unexpectedly and won't let me access photos
My iPhoto program has just started acting oddly; when I hook up a camera or my iPhone, it won't start up; just quits. And if I start it up from the computer, as soon as I click on a photo or album title or caption, it quits. I am using the latest version of iPhoto, 8.1.2
Coincidentally, my Safari is also problematic; any time I access a page with requiring a password it quits if the "prefill" option is used. Firefox works fine. Help!

*What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

IPhoto 4.0.3 won't load after moving files in HD
I moved some photo files around in my iphoto library on my HD. Then I went to open iPhoto and the photos won't load. It opens and says "loading photos" and the little wheel-thing just spins around. The pictures are still on my HD but won't load in iPhoto. What did I do, and now what do I do?
"I opened the hood and reconnected all the wires differently and now my car won't start."
Well, a lot depends on the amount of damage that you've done. Hopefully, the changes you made are slight and you can put everything back the way that it belongs. However, based on your post, I suspect that such is not the case. I suggest...

Idiot needs help-iBook won't start up
Ive read a few topics that are similar to my problem but not really clever enough to get it working.
Yesterday i was using my iBook (had it about 5 years now with no problems at all) and i had a grey/black screen come up that said 'restart computer' so i turned off the iBook, now it won't start up at all.
Ive tried removing and re-starting numerous times so far with no results.
Ive tried safe mode too,but i'm not getting a chime when pressing start,so don't know when to hold shift down.
At the moment when pressing start i get the Apple screen and the spinning gear, then it goes to MAC OS X screen and the loading bar,but when it reaches the end it just stays on that screen.
I really am a computer novice, its all above me even though i'm 44!!,i love my iBook and don't really want to get another one just yet, plus all of my photos are still in iPhoto on this laptop. All other items i have on desktop too i don't really want to erase,my iTunes is stored on an external HD so thats ok,but any help would be appreciated.
I'm just going to try and locate the original disc that came with it,to try re-starting with that to see if i get any joy.HI,
i'm not getting a chime when pressing start
iBook, now it won't start up at all.
Not a good sign. Hopefully the startup disk isn't failing, but be prepared just in case.
Go here for help for Isolating issues in Mac OS X

Slideshow won't start and / or slide order is wrong
I have multiple slideshows that I created in iPhoto'09. After I "upgraded" to iPhoto'11- some of my slideshows won't open. When I click on them I get the rainbow pinwheel of doom and need to force quit out of iPhoto. Other slideshows the slide order is completely wrong. I even went in and deleted my photos and replaced them and even then a few days later and they are all mixed up again.
I tried rebuilding my library already and that did not seem to work. I am even unable to delete my slideshows-as when I select the slideshow I get the pinwheel of doom again.
Arrghhhh- Have to say very disappointed in Apple on this one- overall iPhoto'11 has been completely unstable- this feels like something Microsoft would pull off.> {quote:title=FrankieCz wrote:}{quote}
