IPhoto 4 stopped emailing photos

I have been using iPhoto 4.0 for several years, and usually when I select a photo and click the email button, it just creates an email message in mail. Today I did the same thing and iPhoto said it was preparing the photos for email, then the email message never showed up. I restarted, repaired disk permissions, but no luck. How can I fix this?

ok, well it will send one photo at a time, but only one at a time, even if i set the pictures to "small". just days ago, i could send several pictures at a time (4 or 5) at the "large" setting and it worked just fine. What could have changed?

Hi there.. iphoto has stopped uploading photos and the programme has frozen on me. It assembled the book (step 1.), then did not complete the upload (step 2). Prior to these steps I provided my C/C detals and paid for the book. i had to Force Quit the iPhoto app, and now wondering what to do!? If I try to buy the book again, then it asks for my C/C details...

Did you get a confirmation email from Apple? Click on the Store button at the top of this page and use the Account ➙ Track a Purchase link. That will tell you if they received your book. Apple doesn't charge the card until it is shipped. You can also check with your credit card company to see if there's been a charge from Apple.
Try previewing the book by Control-clicking in the background of the view all pages in iPhoto and select Preview Book or Save Book as PDF:
If that process fails then there's a work around for it. Boot into Safe Mode and preview the book again to make sure you can get a PDF of the book. If you can then order the book while still in Safe Mode. Save the PDF file to compare with the printed book. If the PDF file is satisfactory the printed book should match it.
What size book are you ordering? Xtra large?

IPhoto 5 has better quality that iPhoto 6 when emailing photos?

How can I set up iPhoto 6 to use the same image quality as iPhoto 5 when emailing photos?
I have two iMacs, side by side, one is G5 with iPhoto 5, and another is Intel with iPhoto 6. When I use iPhoto 5 to email a photo, medium quality 640x480, it looks beautiful. It looks like a perfect replica of a high-res photo, just smaller, but very clear. But when I do the same with iPhoto 6, again medium quality, the photo looks terrible, the image is very poor, it is jagged around people's faces with apparent artifacts of higher jpeg compression -- whereas none of these artifacts are present when emailing from iPhoto 5.
The problem with iPhoto6 seems to be that it uses a higher jpg compression thus lowering the photo quality.
To illustrate, here is the photo emailed from iPhoto5:

Interesting is that when I click to email from iPhoto6 it estimates the photo size to 122kB, the same estimation as in iPhoto5, but then iPhoto6 compresses it down to 36kB.
Question: How can I set up iPhoto 6 to email the same photo quality as iPhoto 5?

IPhoto rebuilding stopped! Photos gone

I was doing the usual on iPhoto, tagging faces and editing. Then I received the error message saying that my iPhoto had suddenly become unreadable. So, taking the advice off of another discussion, I attempted to rebuild my iPhoto. Everything was going great at first, but then all of a sudden it stopped its process. I open iPhoto and only a fourth of my original pictures are there! I have some photos backed up, but not all of them. Please tell me I didn't lose all my pictures! Do I need to rebuild again? Thank you in advance!

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Iphoto doesnt stop importing photo

So when i trying to press the "X" botton, Its says that "Photos are being imported to the photo library. Please wait for import to complete." So i wait, but it took too long to complete so i try to shut down my computer but then it say to quit iphoto then i try to quit but its keeps saying "Photos are being imported to the photo library. Please wait for import to complete." so i can not quit iphoto and could not shut down my computer. How can i stop importing the photo and quit iphoto?

You can right click on the iPhoto icon in the dock and then clicking "Force Quit".

IPhoto can't email photos

I'm having problems with iPhoto. I'm triying to email some photos using iPhoto (becase of it templates) and I can't. This is the error message I get:
In English would be:
"Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.
Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later."
Of course my email account it's well configurate (I can use Mail.app).
Researching on apple communities, I found a lot of people with the same problem.
A really need help.

For me, sending with iPhoto mail is working well. Have you set up your mail accounts in the iPhoto Preferences > Account panel, and checked, if the settings for the mail account you want to use, are the same as you are using in your regular mail?
And set the "From:2 pop-up to your regular Mail account?
If this is still problematic, you might give sending with "Mail.app" a try. If you set your mailer to "Mail.app", you can use the beautiful stationary in Mail.app, and there is alagers election than in the iPhoto Mailer.

I'm running OSX (v 10.10) and I am having issues sending photos out of iphoto. I have a gmail account and I have confirmed my username and password by logging in to gmail online. An help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Had the same error with gmail and was able to fix it.
For me it was a problem with a setting in Gmail. It seems that iPhoto isn't using SSL even though it has the check box.
Solution for me:
Go here https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps
Read the details carefully, what you're about to do is NOT recommended by google
If you still want to get iPhoto to work click on 'Enable' which will decrease the security settings on your gmail account

Personally I think this is a bug, I'm not sure if apple was sending security and stopped or if google got more secure by default but it seems like something apple should be fixing in iPhoto. I was able to send and receive from Mail without any problems before changing the setting, they clearly have the code to do things properly... Apple please port that code to iPhoto!

IPhoto has stopped downloading photos from my camera

It worked a few weeks ago. Now iPhoto takes several minutes to decide it can't read the format. The camera is a Nikon Coolpix S8100.

try image capture (in yoru applications folder) or if the camera mounts to the desktop drag tthe desktop and import from there or use a card reader
Once you have the photos safely off the memory card use the camera's format command to erace and reformat the card
a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

My iPhoto suddenly stopped accepting photos from the internet. If it is full, I wasn't notified. I tried to "Export" my stash to an external HD, but the Export box did not ask what I want exported, nor the destination. Do I "Select All" and paste?

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff: What version of iPhoto. What version of the Operating System. Details. What were you doing when the problem arose? Did it ever work properly? Step-by-step descriptions of how you got to this issue. If something doesn't work, are there error messages? What happens when you try to do this thing? And what steps have you tried already to solve the issue. With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that a helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

Iphoto '11 attaches wrong photos in emails

I have been using iphoto '11 to email photos directly from the app. Frequently, I will send photos and the photos attached will be other photos in my iphoto library, not the ones I selected to send. Sometimes I send the same email to different people and some will get the 3 photos I intended to send and other receipients will get other photos from the library.

Yeah, seriously. People rant on here all the time.... kinda like your first post. We're not mindreaders and do not purport to know you mean to ask question unless you ask one.
Anyway, does the same thing happen when you set iPhoto up to use the regular Mail application for emails? Go into Preferences, General, and under Email Photos Using, choose Mail. Hopefully, that will work better.

When I email photos from iPhoto.....

When I email photos from iPhoto (usuallly with some text as well) , the sent emails do not show up in the Sent file like they used to before updating to Lion.
I can cc myself but I would much prefer to see each email as a regular sent email with the recipient readily visible.
I send a lot photos to various people and find it annoying not to be able to see which photos I sent to whom unless I open each email addressed to me.
Any suggestions?

I have the latest version of iPhoto and now I don't have the Apple templates for emailing photos. What happened? How can I get them back?

I have the latest version of iPhoto and somehow I have lost the ability to use the Apple iPhoto templates for emailing photos. I select my photos, go to Share, go to email, and the templates used to pop up. Now the photos go directly to email. Does anyone know how I can get the templates back?

I encountered the same issue after an upgrade of iPhoto, and it was resolved by clicking on the "iPhoto" button on the menu on the top left of your screen, then "preferences", and in the very first window (General), select the very last pull-down menu "email photos using".
There, you can select various email providers, aol (if set-up), Microsoft outlook, etc... and of course, iPhoto (which should be the very first choice on the pull-down menu).
Select iPhoto, and you will immediately be able to use the templates and make cool cards when emailing your photos from iPhoto.

Iphoto stopped importing photos from iphone 6.

All of a sudden, iPhoto 9.2.3 stopped importing photos from my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2). It says "All photos have already been imported" which they have not. I still have photos in Camera Roll which iPhoto did not import. At the same time, I started receiving this message which I plug my iPhone into the computer, "This accessory may not be supported." Can anyone recommend how to return the iPhone and iPhoto to normal? Sending photos via email to the computer wastes time.
