Iphoto 6.0.5 not recognizing cannon A80

My new intel core 2 duo no longer recognizes my cannon A80 camera?
I am on a business trip and tried to plug the camera into imac using iphoto for download but iphoto is not recognizing the camera so it won't download pictures. Before when I used iphoto to download using the same camera, I hooked the cannon A80 to a usb multi hub and had not problem. I do not have that same hub with me and bought a belkin 4 port hub to see if that was the problem and it does not work either.
what can be the problem? I have downloaded many photos via iphoto with same camera.

Robert:
As a workaround see if Image Capture(located in the Applications folder) will recognize the camera and let you upload the files to the hard drive.

  • Iphoto and image capture not recognizing kodak camera

    Hello!
I am having trouble uploading photos from my Kodak easyshare dx4530 to iphoto 6.0.5. This is a new thing as I have uploaded many times before. The camera is not recognized by iphoto or by image capture when the usb is connected. The camera and usb work fine when connected to my husband's ibook G4.
I tried moving the preferences to the trash (com.apple.iphoto.plist and com.apple.imagecaptureapp.plist) and this did not work. There is only 1 account on the computer and it is the admin account.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    pb35:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Is the camera recognized by System Profiler? Did you run any updates before this problem began? A first cut would be a reinstall of the 10.4.9 COMBO updater followed by a permissions repair.
I'd create a second, non-admin, very vanilla account and see if the camera is recognized there by iPhoto or IC. A second plain account is a very good troubleshooting tool to see if the problem is with what's been added to the primary account.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • IPhoto 9.4.1 not recognizing Outlook... plus more.

I am unable to send email with iPhoto 9.4.1 through Outlook for Mac 2011.
Outlook shows up as a choice in iPhoto preferences, but when I try to send an email, nothing happens.
If I shut down Outlook and then try to send, the only thing that happens is Outlook opens.
As a side issue, I can send email with iPhoto through OS X Mail, however the email message is not brought forward on the screen as it used to do.
I have to hunt for it behind whatever else is open at the time.

Yes. That is the problem many of us are having.
There is another discussion you can go to with more infomation on this issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4325951?start=0&tstart=0
You can also send feedback to Apple and Microsoft on this:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/product-feedback
Bottom line is Apple and/or Microsoft need to fix this.
In the mean time, I am using OS X Mail with iPhoto, which works fine.

  • IPhoto 9.4.1 not recognizing 5.0.4 library (even after library upgrader is installed)

After installing the iPhoto library upgrader on my iMac running Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I am still unable to get iPhoto to open the library from my Powerbook that is running iPhoto 5.0.4. When I option-click on iPhoto in the dock so I can select an existing library, I get the same window that tells me the library needs to be upgraded using the iPhoto library upgrader. My goal is to bring over all photos (while still retaining my album structure) from my old Powerbook to my new iMac. Any ideas?

Did you actually run the upgrader and notjust install it? It's installed into the Applications/Utilities folder.

Can someone give me a hand please,

Have you tried the this part of the omne link you post:
    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens, and you are using Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard), please follow the steps in this article.
The link you provided is confusing since the first line give you the link for Windows and second for a Mac.

  • Is there a way to restore photos from Drop box to my desktop iPhoto in a large batch instead of one at a time? I tried and a zip file was downloaded but won't open. Says file format not recognized.

Is there a way to restore photos from Drop box to my desktop iPhoto in a large batch instead of one at a time? I tried and a zip file was downloaded but won't open. Says file format not recognized. I see how to do it one at a time with the "download" button in Dropbox but that's so cumbersome for lots of photos.

  • Pictures not recognized by iPhoto

I have just installed Lion and iPhoto 11 version 9.1.5.
Now, when I import pictures they are not recognized by iPhoto. I can see them i Finder.
At first the import seems to work: The import function runs and the event is created. (The name of the event is typed in by me as normally before starting the import).
But when I open the event the pictures aren’t there. When I restart iPhoto the event has disappeared.
    Can anyone help?

I have solved the problem my self
Press the Command and Option key. Launch iPhoto while holding the two keys. A dialog box comes up. Put a check mark in “Examine and repair iPhoto Library file permissions”.

  • Ipod touch is not recognized by iphoto

When I connect my ipod touch to my macbook, iphoto is launched as well as itunes.  It used to be that iphoto imported the photos on my itouch but it doesn't do that anymore.  In fact there is no "devices" item in the left column in iphoto.  I think this changed when I upgraded to Lion.  Does anyone know any way to get iphoto to recognize my itouch again?  Music, podcast, & app synching seem to working fine via itunes.

  • My iphone 4s is recognized by itunes and iphoto, but it will not show as a device in finder for macbook pro

My iPhone 4s is recognized by itunes and iphoto however it does not show up in finder under devices.

I don't agree - I have two IMacs and two iPhones - the iPhone 4S show up on one machine, but not the other.  They do show that they are charging, and a memory stick will open on the same USB ports.  So, I don't think this is how they are "supposed to work"......

  • Ipod not recognized by itunes, iphoto on either of my macs

Ipod is not launching in itunes, or iphoto with either imac or macbook. Have tried restarting both macs, restarting ipod holding both buttons, tried different usb wires and ports.  Any ideas?

    Does it charge?
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Itunes/iphone not recognizing all pictures in an iphoto folder

When I try to synch my iphone through itunes to a new iphoto folder, it is only recognizing 1 or 2 photos (when there are 8-10 photos in the folder). Lots of space on the iphone... itunes 4.0.3... any thoughts?

Tried reboot and reconnect on USB port... it appears the problem exists between iPhoto and iTunes... not the iPhone. In the iTunes synch window for Photos, all the albums on my Mac are shown with the number of photos in each. I created a new album specifically for photos that I wanted to transfer to my iPhone. This album comes up in the iTunes synch window, but it doesn't have the same number of photos as the same album does on iPhoto... it has only 1 or 2 pictures out of 8. It synchs these ok but is 'missing' the other six... thoughts?

  • IPhoto 6.0.5 and iTunes 7.0.2 not recognized

I will run Norton Utilities 8 to correct any problems and when complete I try to open iPhoto or iTunes and neither will open. They had been up and running before I ran Norton. The icons for the program will bounce once in the dock and the program will not open, as though they are not recognized.
Since I have an older machine I used custom install from iLife just for iPhoto.
ITunes was downloaded from the apple page.
Norton shows that most of the correction are for iPhoto and iTunes.
I download everything all over and relocate the library for iPhoto and everything is fine.
Is there some sort of conflict with Norton or is because I have an older machine? Is there some other way of re-establishing the programs other then downloading them again?

It's not your machine, It's Nortons.
Norton stopped making Utilities some time ago in reponse to a great many complaints of just this sort of thing. It's not that it doesn't do what it's mean to do - i.e fix things, it's that it actually makes things worse. You really should uninstall it immeadiately.
There are two things you can try: first off use Disk Utility to repair Permissions. If that doesn't work trash both apps, plus any pkg files in HD/Library/Receipts with iPhoto or iTunes in the name, and re-install.

  • In iPhoto, when i try to email a photo using "share", I keep getting"username/password" not recognized. It used to work automatically before.

I cannot email  a photo using iPhoto "share. I keep getting "username/password not recognized". I used to use this function all the time but all of a sudden, I keep getting this message.

In iPhoto, open Preferences (under iPhoto in the menu bar) and click the "Accounts" tab on top.  Make sure your email account(s) is/are set up there correctly, just as they are in Apple's Mail.  Make sure the password in included.
