IPhoto 6.0.6 (322) - Can't move photos to desktop

Hi,
I'm running iPhoto 6 - 6.0.6 (322) on OS X 10.5.8.
I can move my photos from the preview map onto the desktop - it has the standard circle with line through it. This happens on SOME, but NOT all files in iPhoto.
I think i may have changed a file name of a directory by accident, and am unsure of what's happened. Everything else seems to work, yet not all files in preview. (the test file does exist in the Originals folder)
Does anyone have the original file structure for iPhoto 6 that they could share with me to see if a filename has become corrupted/changed?
The files I currently have are (I've put (Directory) after a directory, all others are files)

I understand that changing any of these is no reccomended, but it's too late, something has been changed, and not sure which folder, as such, I'd appreciate if anyone can point me to the folder that is incorrect, or file that should be recovered, or if need be the plan to 'fix this' by re-install or similar I'd be very thankful. I have lots of albums and don't want to loose them.

I checked my secondary harddrive and there is plenty of memory.
I emptied my burn folder but the photos still will not drop into it.
I created a new burn folder, no luck with this either.
230 photos is the maximum size of the events I am trying to move from iPhoto to save elsewhere.
I have shut down and restarted my computer.   No change. The photos still will not drop out of iPhoto.
My Mac Computer Storage shows that I have 62.2GB free out of 249.2GB (movies, photos and contacts taking up the most space)
My Lacie External Harddrive (2TB capacity) shows that I have 1.79TB available. It shows that 207,729,520,640 bytes (207.73 GB on disk) are used.
I have never had this problem before. It is usually very easy to move my photos from iPhoto.
I am not a computer expert (I work in surgery so don't have a need for lots of computer knowledge) so please explain in simple terms.

YES Terence! Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs. I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly. I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?! I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.

Make sure the external drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and is connected with a wired connection, quit iPhoto, drag the iPhoto library to the EHD intact as a single entity and launch iPhoto while depressing to option key. Use the resulting select library window to select the new location. Be sure the EHD is available prior to launching iPhoto

Tell us more, please. I am not quite sure, what you want to do and how you are using Aperture and iPhoto?
Which versions of Aperture and iPhoto are you using?
Do you have separate photo libraries for Aperture and iPhoto, or are you opening your iPhoto libraries in Aperture?

Did you import an iPhoto library into Aperture? And now you are seeing a section "iPhoto Library" in the Aperture projects list in the Inspector?
Events and albums you imported from iPhoto (Import > Library > Some iPhoto Library) will be imported as Aperture projects and albums, and they will behave exactly as other Aperture projects and albums.

You can drag images from any project in Aperture to other projects and that will move (not duplicate) the images and all its versions to that project. And when you drag all images from the project to another project, the remaining project will be empty and can be deleted. (Caution: Photos that you have hidden in iPhoto will not be visible in Aperture. If you are not sure, if you have hidden photos, open the library again in iPhoto and unhide all photos).

There should be no problem with moving all photos from the same years to the same projects. You can also drag projects in "Projects" view on top of each other. That will merge them.
You could also define smart albums in Aperture to search for images taken at a specific period of time:
File > New > Smart album:
Then, in the Smart Settings HUD, click "Add Rule" and add a Date or Calendar rule.
For example, to find all images taken in 2010, use a rule "Date > Capture Year is > 2010"
To search for Photos taken at a specific date or at several dates, use a "calendar" rule. This way, you do nat have to type the date, but can pick it from a mini calendar.

Take the photos you want to burn from iPhoto and put them in a folder on your desktop. Then, insert a blank CD and drag the photos onto the CD icon. Wait for them to finish uploading onto the disk and eject it. Insert it again just to see if this works; double click on the CD icon and ypu should see the same folder, with all of your photos in it. Hope this helps.

This seems to be a recurrent problem. There is no very simple way to move a photo within an Event. However, the following (which I have not seen posted anywhere) works without needing to go to Albums, and is not too laborious for a few photos:
Go to Events in the menu on the left, under LIBRARY.
Select your event.
Highlight the photo you want to move, then go to the menu bar at the top of your screen (not window) choose Photos > Adjust Date and Time.
Adjust the date and time to get the photo to appear at the postion you want (sorry, you'll need to check the dates and times of the photo one side of where you want it to go first). Do this and your photo should move to the new position, defined by its new date and time.

Do you want to copy some pictures to the external drive, or do you want to move your whole iPhoto library? The latter will free up hard drive space on your start up disk; the procedure is explained here:

Note this is not the same as a Time Machine backup.
If on the other hand you want to copy some photos from one drive to another, you can just drag and drop them from one location to another. This is a true copy, the originals will remain intact.

You can't move photos in Albums that were transferred from your computer into the Camera Roll.
Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync processa are optimized for viewing on the iPhone - the original resolution of these photos is reduced. This is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported. Photos transferred from your computer should remain on your computer and should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data.
There are some paid 3rd party utilities that provide for transferring these photos in the opposite direction, but the original resolution of these photos is lost.
