IPhoto 6.0.6 lost 'sync' with System Prefs/Desktop&Screensaver!?!?!?

I took my G5 to the Apple store for a check(fan speed) and when I got it back, when I go to System Prefs/desktop & Screensaver I can no longer see the folders representing the photo albums. I thought it might be an iPhoto Issue, but now I'm not so sure. I'm running 10.4.10 ans iPhoto 6.0.6. I created another user and tried the same thig and it's not working there either. I have 4100+ images in 30+ albums.
I'm almost ready to load 10.4 on my 2nd internl drive and then use migration assistant, but I don't know if THAT would work. I have repaired permissions, ran Diskwarrior 4.0, thrown out plists and prefs, and caches. I've even removed the .xml file, still without success.

OK FOLKS!!! GET THIS!! It was a single corrupt photo. The photo worked fine within iPhoto, but caused the disconnect with the system prefs. it wasn't a very big photo, or old, but I did drag it from a web page.
I ended up creating new iPhoto Libraries, and importing the photos until it broke. Then I went through the files within the one questionable folder until it broke. I pitched the file from the iPhoto Library, and my hard drive but the Library stayed broken. I just deleted it, and started over. I have all my original photos back, and in the proper albums again. Now to the tweaking all over again. 6000+ photos to go through.

4s calendar is not syncing with my Outlook desktop.  I thought I had this fixed at one time.

Also make sure you are using the same iCloud account on your PC and your iPhone.  Go to Settings/iCloud on your iPhone and check the account email address.  Then check the iCloud account on your PC.  If you have a Windows PC, click on the iCloud icon in your system tray to see what icloud email account you are logged into.
I changed the email on my iPhone and. iPad, but forgot to change the email on my PC and my calendars wouldn't sync.  It finally dawned on me that I forgot to change the account on my PC.

    Could be contacts/favorites/history/notes/etc.
It is normal for there to be 200 - 800 gb in other.

  • Sys Prefs-Desktop&Screensave no longer shows iPhoto Library or albums!

Ever sice I got my G5 back from the Apple store, I am unable to pick iPhoto albums as screensavers or pick a photo from analbum. They do not show in Desktop & Screensaver preference. I'm running 10.4.10. I have deleted and redone my iPhoto library, pitched prefs, and plist files, and XML files. I've deleted all iPhoto libraries, and started over, and rebuilt everything. WHERE ELSE can I look?

FIXED!! It turned out to be a single corrupt photo in iPhoto. The photo worked OK without problems in iPhoto, but just adding it into the iPhoto Library 'broke' the link with the system preferences/Desktop&Screensaver pref. I used a method similar to the old "Finding a bad extention" by choosing small groups of files until it broke, deleting the old, damaged iPhoto Library.

  • System Preferences - Desktop & Screensaver **Please Help**

    Hello
When I access the "Desktop" tab, my Pictures Folder is empty and if I try to add another folder, it tells me this folder s already there (which it is!).
I also have two Aperture drop-downs, one of which displays my projects and folders and the other one seems to do nothing when I click onto it.
Therefore... how can I view the pictures that ARE in my Pictures Folder and not being displayed and why is there two Aperture lists and how do I remove one of them as selecting (or trying to) does not allow me to ' - ' any of them.
    Thanks.

    Hmmm.
Just for a test, have open a finder window ~/pictures and also the system prefs desktop pane with the pictures folder selected.
Drag everything out of the finder window to the trash or a temporary folder and then drag them right back in. Select pictures folder again in system prefs and see if updates. That's what mine does anyway.
Make sure at least one of the items in it is a jpeg and see if that makes any difference.

Quit System Preferences if it's running. In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
    Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following item to the Desktop:
    Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the item on the Desktop back where it came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the item.

  • System pref - desktop is freezing

New MBP Retina.  I go to system prefs, desktop,to set a picture and the beach ball appears and will not leave, force quit is the only way to get out of it.

Then I suggest you first start out wiping the complete drive by booting the system from the internet recovery system, command+option+r keys and hold them down until you see a globe on the screen, and repatition the drive as one partition to erase everything on the drive then reinstall the original shipping version of os x.
Then install your programs one at a time and reload your aperture library. If you still have problems it might be hardware related and should go to a apple store to be checked out.

  • Lost sync with itunes

Hi, I've just updated to itunes 9.0.2 and apple tv version 3 and have lost sync between them now. I have done a factory reset on apple tv and now it doesn't even show up in the devise menu on itunes...any ideas?? Thanks very much

Not really at this time, it's difficult when it comes to networks because there is so much involved and there are so many differences between peoples networks. Certainly tending towards the idea it's a network related issue on the basis that it works on wifi and not ethernet and also that it can't be seen by two computers.
It's perhaps worth seeing if your router issues static addresses to each device and maybe even trying to remove the tv from the routers list of devices and letting it set it up again.

  • IPhoto folders no longer showing in iTunes & System Pref???

has anyone had this problem recently?
when i'm syncing iPod it no longer shows individual folders that you could select from. it seems to me that it wants to wipe out the folders that are existing on my iPod to replace it with entire iPhoto library without separate folders.
also, in system preferences it no longer shows folders from iPhoto. ?
i don't understand. could it have anything to do with iWeb? that is about the only thing i've "played" around with recently...

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

  • QuickTime causing trouble with System Prefs

    When I open this page
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/
I see the QT logo and at the bottom right there is the animated logo. But this logo does not show properly. It is messed up and is blurred. Sometimes it looks alright, most times the circle is not completed.
Then there is the matter of the Enable instant on that cannot be changed.
I verified permissions, verified disk and all are OK.
Most disturbing of all: when I click on the Advanced tab in the QT window in System Preferences it hangs Systems Prefs (not responsive).
It looks like there is something wrong with the latest version.

Having problems with your Airport interface?
Sometimes configuration or plist files get screwy... Remove and re-add the buggy interface.
Just go to System Preferences > Network > Airport
...then click the "-" button at the bottom of the list. Finally, click the "+" button and choose the Airport interface - rename to Airport if the number bugs you.
Does that help? Please post back and let me know. You should also do a Permissions Repair from Disk Utility.

  • Moved library, problems in 'System Prefs - Desktop ...'

I (successfully) moved my iPhoto library to my (new and shiny) external hard drive.
Unfortunately, when I try and select a photo in 'System Preferences -> Desktop & Screen Saver' some are missing. Even more troubling, they're not missing as such but seem to be invisible, i.e. there are some showing but there are gaps where others should be. Have a look at this screenshot for a better idea of what I mean:
    http://timmargh.net/files/desktopscreensaver.png
I can select any of the visible images with no problems, but clicking an empty space results in "The application System Preferences quit unexpectably".
Any ideas at to how I can fix this?

Thanks for the reply, Old Toad.
I repaired permissions on my internal hard drive successfully, but the 'Repair Permissions' button was disabled when I selected my external drive - is this right? Anyway, it didn't fix the problem.
I then tried your second hint, but that didn't work either.
    :^(
Do you have any other ideas?
For reference, my external hard drive is a "LaCie D2 Hard Drive Extreme with Triple Interface 250GB", was bought from the Apple store September 16th, is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and is connected via one of my iMac's FireWire 400 ports. I've just noticed that Disk Utility is telling me that "Owners Enabled: No".
Sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit of a newbie ...

  • Scripting system prefs: desktop assignments & syntax changes

The problem I have is that I use multiple external monitors, but frequently use my 2014 15" rMBP disconnected. My workday involves two externals being connected, with multiple apps being used on those monitors. Most apps play nicely with the respective desktop assignments. However, Microsoft Excel does not. When the externals are disconnected, Excel defaults to displaying on the laptop. When the externals are reconnected, Excel does not automatically re-assign itself to Desktop on Display 2 (even though this setting is selected via the dock). It is, frankly, a function of Excel not playing well with Mac. No biggie - but I have to close, reassign to all desktops, then reassign back to Desktop on Display 2, every day.
There should be an easy solution - a hot key linked to a command line code or AppleScript to solve this problem. In fact, I've located some options, but due to the changes in the way Mavericks' syntax is apparently structured, the options don't seem to work.
For example, a post relative to OS X 10.5 suggests:
    tell application "System Events"
    tell expose preferences
    tell spaces preferences
However, when compiling this bit of script, I get an error that "Expected end of line but found application constant or consideration", relative to "expose preferences" and "space preferences".
If that problem did not occur, I imagine the full code might look like this:
    tell application "System Events"
      tell expose preferences
      tell spaces preferences
        set x to application bindings
      set x to {|com.microsoft.Excel|:4} & x -- Have Excel appear in space 4
      end tell
      end tell
    end tell
I hope someone out there can comprehend what I'm trying to accomplish and help me solve this …
    Many thanks

Nevermind - after rebooting it is working ok now.

  • [little bug] System Preference: Desktop & Screensaver (bug in Spanish lang)

I don't know how report a bug in Mac OS X (10.5.3) for this reason I post in this forum.
If I set the language of the system to "Español" (Spanish) since 10.5.2 appear a visual bug in +System Preference+, exactly in *Desktop & Screensaver* with the right scrollbar. This bug doesn't appear if i switch the system language, example, to English.

You can provide bug or feedback information in several ways with Apple. For generic feedback you can use this:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
To comment on a product defect (a bug), the best way is to get an ADC membership to become part of Apple's developer community. You don't need to actually be a software developer to join ADC, and the online membership is free. See this information:
    http://developer.apple.com/products/
Once you have a membership, you can use

    Exact same issue here!
I think it has to do with some third party app. I've used Kuvvo to automatically get wallpapers from the net en change them.
After I decided to go back to my own wallpapers and removed the Kuvvo app, my wallpaper prefs is crashing.
I tried to reinstall Kuvvo with the hope of fixing broken links / references but to no avail!
