IPhoto 6.06 Slideshow Issue

We have a MacBook that we need to be able to use for a slideshow from an iPhoto Event.  It has iPhoto 6.06 and, when I try to run the slideshow, all I get is a blue screen with the control items for play, pause, etc.  Clicking on it gets nothing.  What is going on?  Thanks.

Rebboot and try exporting again.  How many photos are in the slideshow?

  • IPhoto '08 - Events + Slideshow issues

Just got my first Mac and generally delighted, but when I started using iPhoto it was great, then for some reason reason(finger trouble maybe), some of my events went from rolling previews of the photos in there, to to a plain black cover. This is not happening with all of the Events. Likewise, when I start up the Slideshow, I can only see a black screen , and the music plays fine. I have cross checked settings with a friend of mine, an absolute "mac head", and everything seems fine.
    Any ideas out there?

    Greetings from rainy County Clare.
Sounds like your database has been corrupted I'm afraid.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • IDVD/iPhoto slideshow issues

I've been reading in these discussions and although I've learned quite a bit, nothing has helped fix my particular issue. first let me just add my two cents here, I just used the iDVD/iPhoto slideshow to make, process, and burn to disks extensively in June, and used some of the same photos as now, and there were no problems with quallity, nothing, so I'm saying these issues have come about with updates or changes since then in the way the programs work.
That being said, here's my problem the final disk distorts the pictures in the slideshow, they look as though there are moving parts in some of them, a sort of waving shaky effect, reminds me of the old television sets when there was a problem with the vertical hold and were about to start rolling, remember that? Also, over saturated color, and darker.
This is what I have tried to improve the final burning, I saved the slideshow from iDVD to disk image and burn the copy in disk utility, if anything, the distortions were more noticeable.
Then I recreated the slideshow in iDVD by sending it from iPhoto, checked all the boxes for Ken burns on all the individual pictures, as well as making sure it was checked in the settings, I changed the format to wide screen then saved to disk image as soon as it was finished, and played it in the DVD player, where it was distorted as disks burned from iDVD, (interestingly enough when played through the iDVD the show is beautifully rendered with no distortions, so there goes the theory aboout monitor vs television being toi blame). I bought verbatim DVD disks, but if the DVD player already shows distortion, it is not in the burning process, but in the processing in iDVD.
During this several reports have been sent to apple on my behalf, saying iDVD suddenly quit, when in fact it hadn't or I had simply closed it, but there were reports so I sent them.
Something within the progarms has changed. Is this an issue waiting to be fixed? Do I have to do something different because of a change? Quite truthfully, I am too ignorant to make the whole slideshow in iMovie, I've tried, it's too much for me and I don't have the time or inclination to learn it when I was extremely happy with the way iDVD/iPhoto made my slideshows before.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Have you read: iDVD 6.0 Help - Preparing images for DVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/17.html ?
Feeding iDVD high-resolution still images doesn't help quality.
the final disk distorts the pictures in the slideshow, they look as though there are moving parts in some of them, a sort of waving shaky effect ..
When sharp, still images are used you will see interlacing effects that make parts of images flicker. Images on a TV set are interlaced - meaning you see two slightly different images (called 'fields') that alternate at a 1/60 second rate making the image appear to 'shimmer' of 'flicker'.
(interestingly enough when played through the iDVD the show is beautifully rendered with no distortions, so there goes the theory aboout monitor vs television being to blame).
Sorry, but using the preview function in iDVD does NOT represent the final quality of the DVD that will be produced because it uses the uncompressed source material - think of it as a 'for position only' view of the project.
iDVD produced DVDs WILL look better on a conventional CRT TV set (which has less than 640x480 pixels in NTSC) than it will on a computer monitor (with many more pixels) full screen.

  • Slideshow issues - "homepage" style

I've been having the generic "There were problems publishing to .Mac" and I've yet to find a solution that works for me. In the process of troubleshooting though, it seems like all of my slideshows are now "homepage" style slideshows instead of the black/reflection/iphoto style of slideshow.
Any ideas how this could have happened or how I can fix it?

    PB G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   iWeb 1.1

Right, if you publish "to folder" then that's what
you get. Only publishing directly from iWeb to .Mac
    gives you the "enhanced" slideshow
AHHHH. That makes sense. Well then, since I can't publish to .Mac at the moment, I guess I'm out of luck until they fix whatever issue people seem to be having.
    Thanks!

Open your iPhoto Library, go to that particular album and verify that you can view the full sized version of each image by double clicking on them.  Report back with the results.

  • Iphoto 9.5 slideshow - custom export

iphoto 9.5 slideshow - why after upgrade it's impossible to export movie with custom settings? In 9.4.3 it was possible to make .mov with custom settings, and now program alllow only 720p & 1080p for Apple devices!!!

There is no solution, Apple removed the options.
iPhoto Menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback and let them know what you think.
    In the meantime:
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • All my photos in the iphoto have disappeared, not sure if this related to any iphoto upgrade or other issue, tried to find the photos through the finder (JPG or photo) but failed, can you help me to get back my photos please?

All my photos in the iphoto have disappeared, not sure if this related to any iphoto upgrade or other issue, tried to find the photos through the finder (JPG or photo) but failed, can you help me to get back my photos please?

Help us to help you: There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Using iPhoto to make Slideshow with Stills and Movie Clips

Hello--Can someone give me some tips on making a DVD from a slideshow on iPhoto.  The slideshow consists of still photos plus short video clips (7 -47 secs).  I have already tried making a DVD but would like to know anything I may be doing incorrectly.
This is how I have done it so far:
1--Made an Album in iPhoto and put various still pictures and 3 or 4 short video clips in the Album.
2--Clicked on the + sign, bottom left, then clicked on 'Slideshow' then on 'Create'.  Entered Theme/Music/Settings.
3--Clicked on 'SHARE'/Send to iDVD' at the top of the screen.
4--The slideshow was then Exported to iDVD.
I then proceeded to burn a DVD.  It turned out fairly well, except I noticed during the video clips the audio in the clips was VERY slightly
over ridden by the music--not enough to be a problem.  During the still shots the selected music would play.
    Questions:
1--Please comment on the above procedure if you see anything I should be doing differently, ie is this the best way to mix
    still pictures and videos?
2--Can this slideshow be uploaded to You tube or would you suggest a better way.
Thanks for any assistance or suggestions.

Thanks very much for your input Terence Devlin.  I appreciate your comments that the system I'm using, which at the moment I am more familiar with, is at least workable.  I have found working with iMovie more confusing, but will try looking for some good tutorials that may make it easier to work with.
I understand your comments on YT music useage and have been aware of that.
When you ask for 'a better way'... a better way to what?
I have found it difficult to upload the slideshow to You Tube.  At one time for instance, the upload was going to take something like 6 hours!  Obviously that was a 'bit' too long so I was hoping someone may be able to give some pointers on that, however I will try working on the iMovie system and see if I have better luck.
Again, thanks for your input.  Cheers.

  • IPhoto 11. Export slideshow issue

I'm having issues with iPhoto since I upgraded to the latest version.
I'm trying to export a slideshow to movie file. When I select 720P or 1080P, I get an error message that I need 50GB of hard drive space and I only have 28,72GB. Problem here is that I have 112GB of free space. I'm able to export the Standard definition file, but it won't do the HD file.
I've played around and it seems that there is a limit to the amount of photos you can export.
Any-one know of a work around here?
-The previous version didn't limit this, so I could easily build a slideshow of 800+ images.

Rebboot and try exporting again.  How many photos are in the slideshow?

  • IPhoto 6 Slideshow issues

I'm new to iPhoto. I'd like to make a slideshow of 53 images I edited in Photoshop. I opened iPhoto, selected the only import option, "Import to Library".
All of the images are now in the Library under 2010.
I select 2010 under Source, and the first image appears in the window. I hit "Slideshow" and it makes a new folder containing just that 1 image. No good.
I then go into 2010, select all under edit, but nothing happens.
I created a folder from the Selection, but it only contains that one image. I can't tell you how "special" I'm feeling right now. I suspect my 6yr could do this perfectly. Please advise from the very beginning of importing into iPhoto and all the way thru. Clearly I need it. Thank you in advance.

Use the Full Library view and select the pics:
File -> New Album from Selection
Now you have all the pics in a single album and you can base your slideshow on that.

  • IDVD 5 / iPhoto slideshow issue resolved?

I am working with iPhoto and iDVD 5. I'm having a problem that i found on the discussions dating back to December '05. I have a iPhoto slideshow with 570 pics and 12 songs. When I "send to iDVD" only the first song plays on the preview. The photos keep playing, just the music stops. Does anyone know if this bug has been fixed in iLife 6 before i purchase the upgrade?
    Thanks
    Danno

    Hi Danno:
You know, I haven't seen that mentioned here as an iDVD 6 problem.
And, I searched the discussions and could not find anyone complaining of that.
My guess is, it just may be fixed.

  • Why Won't iPhoto Export My Slideshow?

I import photos to iPhoto from my Canon Rebel. They were taken as RAW. I create a folder and name it within iPhoto. I place 50 images and order them the way I want. I then "Select All" the 50 photos in the folder just to play it safe. I click the Plus button and choose Slideshow. I go through all the steps, selecting the theme, selecting the Apple canned music (so that there won't be a copyright issue), I set my settings... Show Title, play music through slideshow, etc. I then click the Preview button. It works fine! I then tap the Play button. My slideshow fills the screen and does as I have asked it to. I then make sure that my slideshow is selected in the left column (it has not been unselected since I started this maneuver) and I click the Export button at the bottom of the window.  HERE IS WHERE, AS I SAID BEFORE, EXPORT DOES NOT WORK.... A dialog box comes up: "Export your slideshow Choose a format based on where you will view your slideshows;___Format:" (I have chosen all three choices many, many times trying to get beyond this point.)  "Automatically send slideshow to iTunes" has been selected, BTW.  I then hit the export button and the navigator dialog box opens and I choose my folder called iPhoto Slideshows. I click OK.  At this point the export progress dialog box opens and sits there... the thumbnail rectangle remains BLACK. The progress bar never changes from its standard GREY.  The only text on the export slideshow dialog box remains the same and says: "Exporting Slideshow ..."  Fearing there was a hiccup somewhere, I have left this window open and able to work OVERNIGHT, just in case. Nothing. I have tried all three formats. I have changed the destination folder. Nothing.
I have had this problem for months. Have asked this forum for help. I have been told nothing is wrong with iPhoto.
So here's my new question: "What am I suppose to do about this problem that I have explained above?"
I would say my copy of iPhoto is corrupt, if there is nothing wrong with iPhoto in general. Is this a possibility?  In which case.... How do I get another iPhoto app without having to pay for it?
Or do you have some other reason this process is not working on my Mac Pro with OS X  10.9.5 (13F34)?
This is the fifth time I have had to export all my photos to my laptop and use Snow Leopard with iPhoto 9.2.3 in order to finish my projects.
Please help with these EXPORT FAILURE questions.
    Thank you, very much.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
