HI Asher,
This is from the iPhoto Help menu:

You can view and edit two or more photos side-by-side in full-screen view.
To compare two or more photos:
Select one of the photos you want to view.
Click the Full Screen button (shown below).
Click the Compare button. The photo you selected is compared with the photo to the right.
To change the second photo, select a different photo in the photo browser at the top.
You can compare more photos at one time by Command-clicking to select additional photos in the photo browser.
You can also compare multiple photos side-by-side in edit view. Select a folder or album in the Source list, then click the Edit button. Select the photos you want to view or edit by holding down the Command key as you click.

  • How does iPhoto compare to Picassa which I have used a long time?

How does iPhoto compare?  And is it simple to bring all to iPhoto in the same organization?
    Thanks!

Very vague question... in what way? You obviously know the strngths of Picasa. The feature list of  iPhoto is on the Apple Site.
Best advice I can give is to make a library and import 100 pics and explore. See what you like - or don't. It'll help you to ask pointed questions that will get you better quality answers (that this one )
As to migration... there is no path from Picasa and it will depend on what Picasa can export.

  • How can I use the hardware compare feature of the 6551 card to trigger scripts

I can dynamically and seamlessly generate different waveforms by triggering different scriptTriggers that drive one or more of the 4 PFI lines. However, I need to evaluate a channel at a specific location or locations set by a script marker in real-time and generate a different waveform stored in on-board memory based on the result of the evaluation. I have attempted to use the hardware compare feature without any success. I am trying to dynamically respond to an I2C device based on the ACKs or NACK response of the device under test. Can the 6551 card accomplish this? Has anyone successfully tested an I2C or SMBus communication stream with 6551 card?

    Hello,
I can understand why hardware compare did not work out for you application.  Hardware compare uses a signal that was generated to make a digital pattern and then waits a few clock cycles before acquiring the signal that needs to be compared to the digital pattern.
I would look into using a script trigger to evaluate the channel value, where the script structure controls when it is evaluated.  Please note that script triggers will need to be cleared after they are detected for reasserting.  Some script syntax actually clear the script trigger and then use a wait until script trigger structure.  Please refer to the HS DIO Help for documentation on Common Scripting Use Cases.
Please provide us with further details about your application.  The more information, the better!  I was not too clear on what you where wanting to evaluate and where is it coming from.
I would also like to mention that National Instruments has a NI USB 8451 which is capable of I2C communication.

So you want to move the iPhoto Library?
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Acrobat compare feature

I typeset a lot of books and so do frequent compares. The problem is Acrobat X's text compare feature is not at all useful. The compares take a long time to run, you can't compare books that have more than 250 pages and then the result is hard to read because it is so complicated (and I hate the little notes you have to open to see the text to figure out what changed)
I use Acrobat 7 to run my compares because it is faster, there are no page limitations and the results are simple (underlines and crossouts).
Does anyone else have this problem or am I missing something in the way the program is supposed to work? The option I use is text only compare.

    - You can't install Acrobat Pro alongside Acrobat Standard. You will need to remove Standard to be able to install Pro.
    - You (probably) can't upgrade your license if it's a part of an enterprise license. The entire license will need to be upgraded.
    - It's not possible to install just the "Compare Documents" function as a sort of add-on to Acrobat Standard.

  • Please compare features of CS6 & extended.

Please compare features of CS6 & extended.
This was asked a couple of months ago and the answer was not helpful (download & try them). I've found a comparison tool that shows what's in the bundles and another that shows what's different in the different upgrades, but not one that show CS6 & CS6 Extended.
I've also found various discussions about extended use, but they didn't clearly spell out the differences. I get the concept that Extended is about 3D, while CS6 is 2D, but that's about it. Any specifics available?

  • How do i get rid of duplicates in my photo library?  I imported the photos again by mistake and dont want to do it manually.  is there a way to have iphoto compare and delete all duplicates?

How do i delete duplicate photos in my iphoto library.  i imported them (1500 pics) twice and don't want to manually go through them all.  Is there a way to get iphoto to compare photos and delete the duplicates?

There are two apps, actually one app and one Applescript script, for finding and removing duplicate photos from iPhoto. They are:
    Duplicate Annihilator
    iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates

Does OS X 10.8 have a feature that is comparable to American Power Conversion PowerChute Personal Edition 3 software that works with APC Power Saving Back-UPS 750, Part Number BE750?

Yes, provided your unit has a USB control port. Run USB cable from UPS port to a USB port on the computer. Works through the Energy Saver preferences.

  • How editing in new iPhoto compares to Aperture ?

I use Photoshop Elements 6 to edit my images-levels, contrast, highlights, shadows, unsharp, color enhancements, fix color, remove color....resizing, canvas, convert to sRGB...etc.
I'd like NOT to use Photoshop Elements anymore, because it's slow and very very slow to start. Plus it's too windoZ-style, and not very much integrated with iPhoto.
Does the new iPhoto have all these features ?
I guess Aperture has them ?

Do you have PSE 6 setup to work with iPhoto like this:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

You just have to start it up at the beginning and from then on it's like it's a part of iPhoto.

  • IPhoto location feature doesn't think i am online

So I have iPhoto 09 up and running on my Air with my Verizon USB WLAN card connecting me to the internet
I can surf on Safari (so i know i am connected) besides the fact i linked iPhoto to both my Facebook and Flickr account inside iPhoto's interface (so i know that for this functionality it sees I am online)
    But
When i go to do location tagging on my photos, the map is grayed out and telling me "Your computer is not connected to the Internet"
I've tried shutting down iPhoto and restarting, nothing makes this feature see that i am indeed online
    any ideas?

I have the same problem however I noticed something.
    Here's my setup:
    1. iMac Alu, PPPoE internet connection, internet sharing
    2. Macbook, internet through iMac's internet sharing
I found out that I can use places on my macbook, but not my iMac.
So I unplugged the network from my iMac and connect to the internet with my MacBook, then sharing the internet to my iMac via internet sharing. And Viola, I can use places on my iMac, but not my MacBook.
I don't know what's going on, but I've tried it several times and it still works.
    Hope it helps

  • IPhoto: lost features of '04 now that '08 is installed

I am frustrated by several feature losses with the '08 iPhoto. Is there any solution other than removing the '08 software and reinstalling '04, and if I do that what complications may I encounter?
Specific features of Printing flexibility: 1. The greeting card format for printing 2. Assembling different photos for printing on one sheet. I am not interested in any of the options for Apple printing of my photos, but want greater control over how I format and print on my own.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    2. Assembling different photos for printing on one sheet.
You'll need a 3rd party application to do that, one that handles layers like Photoshop Elements. A freeware candidate isAcorn. You can create blank canvases that are 8.5 x 11 at the dpi setting your photos are taken at (my camera's default dpi setting is 180). Then open each photo you want to place on the page, copy and past onto the blank canvas file and position where you want.
I believe Portraits and Prints will let you assemble multiple photos on a page like you want. I've not used it but a demo of it may be available. IMO the best of those apps would be Photoshop Elements for Mac. You can do some very advanced editing with it. And I think there's a demo of it available with this version.
You would setup the application to be used in iPhoto as follows:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Is iPhoto comparable to Picaboo (Windows) for photo books?

Hello... I am a Windows user who is considering switching to a MacBook Pro laptop, and am currently investigating which of my software is available for the Mac. One product I use to create printed photo books is called Picaboo. I like the ease of creating books with this software but in particular I like the quality of the photobooks. Since I have never used a Mac, I would like to know if the quality of the books is good, and if the process of creating the books is "user-friendly." Thank you!

    kmrunner:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It's hard to say as the perceived quality is a user thing. If there's an Apple Store near you take one of your books in and compare it to the display book they should have. (Call them in advance to save yourself a trip if they don't).
I've liked what I got in the large, hardcover books. They are family orientated books and were excellent for the intended use. Can't say as much for the medium sized books. They had a halftone pattern that was visible to the naked eye under good illumination. Again, they were satisfactory for the intended use, a memory book of an outing with the grandkids.
If you the the MBP and are not happy with the iPhoto books you could run Windows on it with Parallels just to use Picaboo. But that will mean using a good amount of disk space for Windows, etc. just for that one application. Something you'll have to weight the pros and cons of.
The book creation process is very easy in my estimation. I do have a suggestion if you do come over to the "light" side and that's to create a separate iPhoto Library for each book so you can save that library folder to disk in case you want to order another copy at a later date. Apple doesn't keep the file on had for use in ordering other copies, at least not at this time. But that's something you can consider after you get up and running with the MBP. Good luck and hope to see you here later.
Another tip: wait until the MacWorld Expo is over or nearly over to buy if you're going to buy. Then you'll be assured of the newest software, installed on the MBP as the Expo is usually the time they release the newest version of iLife and others.
    Do you Twango?

  • Any rules for tolerance when comparing features ?

The following selects create different results - depending on tolerance:

    SDO_GEOM.RELATE(B.GEOM,'DETERMINE',C.GEOM,0.00005)
    OVERLAPBDYINTERSECT
    1 Zeilen ausgewählt
Tolerance in sdo_geom_metadata are set to 0.0005 for both features and the two features should give OVERLAPBDYINTERSECT as correct result.
The intersection geometries touch from inside - so the result with correct tolerance is wrong - why ?
