IPhoto 6 just wont open

Hi folks
I have an Intel Imac running 10.4.7. Today when i booted up IPhoto to try and import some new photos i got an endless cycle of it being unable to open and wanting to report back to Apple. I have tried repairing permissions, dragging photos out of IPhoto folder and onto desktop, then relaunched , i have deleted preferences in users, relaunched then i dragged out the install disk and reinstalled IPhoto 6. Still nothing
Thoughts?

i took all my photos offline when i upgraded the OSX
How did you do this? Are they on a external disk? If so, try launch iPhoto while holding down the option (or alt) key and use the resulting dialogue to Locate your library.
i relaunched iphoto 6.0.6 it wouldnt import any of them. said it didnt recognise the file format
Are these files in an iPhoto Library Folder? iPhoto will not import from an iPhoto Library Folder (to help avoid duplication).
When you report a crash to Apple, there is never an acknowledgement. Apple simply data mines these reports for any info that can help improve the app in the future.
Finally, did you repair permissions after these updates?

You need to have iPhoto 11 v9.6 (which you can get from the App Store) to use iPhoto on Yosemite. If you already have iPhoto 11 then the update is free. Otherwise it's a purchase.

    Hello Dr.Help,
Thank you for providing so much information about the issue you are experiencing with iTunes.  It sounds like you have tried reinstalling it, but nothing happens when you launch it.  I recommend following the steps in this article to resolve launch issues with iTunes:

  • Itunes wont launch, no error message, no blue screens, just wont open

itunes wont launch, i get no error message, no blue screen, it just wont open. I've tried to delete and reinstall, but once i close itunes i still have same issue. it wont open again.

I have same problem  on my XP lap top and Windows 7 PC.    Apple have been investigating this problem for me for a week now without success so far.  Understand it 's ongoing with other customers as well.
It is caused by an bit of program called APSDaemon supplied by Apple in latest i-Tunes.     Your quick fix to enable you to open i-Tunes again is as follows:-     open Task Manager (right click bottom toolbar), click on Task Manager, select Processes.   Find APSDaemon, highlight and press END PROCESS.      I-tunes will now re-open ok.   You have to repeat this every time you want i-Tunes re-opened until you switchoff or restart.
A pain I know, but lets you keep going until Apple repair and release an update for i-Tunes

    Hello there, HockeyMomClearLake.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some troubleshooting steps for your issue:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
    Particularly:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Itunes7 just wont open at all

I upgraded to Itunes 7, and now it wont open. I get no error message. I have tried the things apple said to try. That does not work either. Quicktime works fine. I just cant open Itunes. I really just want to get into Itunes. I was ok with it for awhile, because I underdstand new things have problems. But now I am frusterated. So if someone, or apple, could help me solve this that would be great. Thanks

a couple of preliminary questions aimed at narrowing down the possibilities.
do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
if you reboot the PC, bring up your Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, and then try to launch itunes, does an "itunes.exe" process appear in Task Manager? if it does, does it persist in there, or does it disappear after a few seconds?

  • Iphoto ..it wont open

in finder i put all the files of "today" in the trash...i tried to put the back but i couldnt
then i tried to open my iphoto library and it opens but loads and loads and never shows pictures?
what have i dont? or does it need an update? are my pictures still there?
it doesnt show anywhere that i have my pictures

It would appear that you have damaged your Library and heavens knows what else.
in finder i put all the files of "today" in the trash
This is not a folder it's a list of all the files used today. You've trashed them all. That will include any and all files in iPhoto that you accessed today - photos, databases, metadata files.
    Restore from your back up.

  • I have just downloaded itunes three times. it just wont open

i have attemnpted to download itunes three times, but each time when i press on the desktop icon, it wont open.

If you still have access to the Computer you used to Sync with you need to Transfere the iTunes Library from it to your New one...
From your Old computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
    Full Details Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.
If Not... See these 2 Links...

  • App just wont open! keeps quitting unexpectedly

Ive used this app called camfrog flawless on my intel mac in the past. i had uninstalled it and reinstalled and now it wont open at all after installation. i instantly get a promt saying "the application camfrog has quit unexpectaedly"
can anyone give me some clues how to remedy this? thanks!
i did a permissions repair, reboot, uninstall and install again but no good.

In your home Library folder in the Application Support folder see if there is a folder called camfrog (Macintosh HD:Users:yourname:Library:Application Support).
Drag it to your desktop, re-install the program, and try starting it again.
Next step is to user Leopard Cache Cleaner to clean out your caches:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16494
Deep cleaning of all caches is ok.
The first restart after cleaning is SLOW ... Be patient.
There may be some sluggishness after restart but this will go away soon.
Running out of ideas ... Hope this works.
    Thanks ... Ken

  • IPhoto version 4 wont open pictures burned on CD using version 5?

i have a G5 iSight PowerPC and my girlfriend a G4 ibook (2004). I downloaded our vacation pics from my camera to my G5 using iPhoto v5.0.4 and accidentally erased my camera's memory card after the download. So - I thought I'd burn a disc with the new photos and then import them onto her G4 (which uses iPhoto v 4.0.3). Everytime I insert the photo disc into the G4 I get a message saying iPhoto cannot open album as it was created using a later version of iPhoto.
I'm stuck since she cannot get our vacation pics onto her computer ! Can anyone help? Thanks in advance..
    iMac G5 iSight Mac OS X (10.4.7) compatibility, versions, iPhoto v4 , v5
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

iPhoto 5 is perfectly capable of exporting photos to a folder on your desktop. Just drag the selected images from iPhoto to the target folder. Burn that folder to a CD, and you can share it with anyone who has a computer with a functioning CD drive.

  • Safari just wont open

    Hello all
I just updated the Security update for 10.5.1 and the keyboard patch on my macbook and the Security update on my iMac. The iMac works perfectly but my macbook will not load Safari. I've reinstalled safari from the 10.5 os disc but it still wont load, I've even tried downloading safari from the apple website but it only gives me the option to download for XP/Vista!
I'm I the only one this is happening to? If I'm not then please help, if I am then HEEEELLLLPPP
    ps firefox is still working

Similar problem. Shortly after installing Leopard, Safari windows would not open on two of my three computers. Still working well on one of them. I had to download Camino on the other two and have been working fine. I just downloaded the same security update you apparently did .. supposed to address some Safari issues. No change. I get Safari menus across the top menu bar, but not a single window will open. Very strange.
It is still working on my Intel Mac Mini, but not on a Mac Mini PC or Intel MacBook. RR1.

  • I updated my iphoto now it wont open....

i updated my iphoto scince then when i try and open it a tab pops up saying "You can't use this version of the application iphoto with this version of Mac OS X" it says i have the mac OS X 10.7.4 and the application requires 10.7.5 i updated my laptop and i also updated to 10.7.5 pleaseeeeee help meee i need my iphoto!!!!

    Back up all data.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

  • Iphoto on desktop wont open

    help,
iphoto on my desktop won't open. any ideas?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
