IPhoto 6 lost some precious memories.

i installed iLife '06 and it lost quite a few pics in the move. It completely restructures the file structure inside iPhoto and am kinda upset that a good handful of pics didn't make the move with me. I have never messed with these folders (in Finder) before, so that's not the problem.
Just a reminder... BACKUP! BACKUP! BACKUP! a good bit of the ones I lost were more recent and weren't backed up.
are there any thoughts on how to recover my lost memories? or am I SOL?

I lost a lot of movies during the upgrade, but found them in the original date-based folder structure under my iPhoto library.

  • IPhoto lost some photos after the update

    Hi!
I Recently updated to iPhoto 11.
After some time I realized that iPhoto didn't show me events that I had before the update.
iPhoto don't show me the thumbnails. There is nothing there, no exclamation sign... Nothing. And when double click on the photo it appears a big exclamation sign with a black background. When I go to file/ reveal in Finder it cant find it.
I tried rebuilding the library with cmd +alt! I tried all the options. I also tried with iPhoto library Manager.
What else I can do? There are 5 years of photos. I also didn't have a backup with time machine.
    thanks!!!

If the photos are missing and you don't have a back up well then your possibilities are very limited. Best I can suggest is to try ands if there are any recoverable files. Download File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store

  • Lost some calendars themes when upgrading iPhoto to '11.

Hello, I've upgraded iPhoto (Provided with Snow Leopard)  to '11. Now, unfortunately, I lost some themes.
Especially in calendar I've now only; Picture Calendar, Colored Paper, Big Dates, Modern Lines, Travel, Vintage, Formal and Classic.
I'm missing at least Kid's Cutouts (also missing Paper Animals).
Since this are the most important (for me) themes in iPhoto I would like to get them back.
I've reinstalled iPhoto as described in some post, also look in Library / iPhoto /themes folders where the missing theme can be found.. but no success until now to have them back in iPhoto itself.
I'm now wondering how I can restore them?… Grand Parent loved the calendar last year and want one for this year too :-D
Hoping I will correct that issue before new year ;-)
    Thanks All

These are the calendar themes available with iPhoto 9.4.3:
There is a Kids theme.  What version of iPhoto are you running?

    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it.
Now for your music. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store tab.
Select: Music.  (and Apps and Books) if you want.
    Click OK.
iCloud syncs via your Wi-Fi network so give it a minute or two to reset your photos and music.

  • IPhoto lost 11, 000 pictures?

Hi, upgraded to new iPhoto, conveted Libs to new format. I used iPhoto Librarian to switch between Libs. With new iPhoto combined all Libs to one. Fine, no problem.
Used iPhoto Librarian to switch between Libs to convert, found after conversion iPhoto Librarian will not open the new packages, ok. So I just double click on the new package icon to open.
But when I click on the All Picture package (11,000 plus pixs) is shows me just a few from a different Lib. Now I look for the photos but they are gone and the hard disk has an extra 400 GB to spare which I am sure it did not have before.
I never would have thought that iPhoto would delete photos. Now I start the recovery process. I have backup of most of the pixs but not the resent ones, hopfuly not gone for good.

    Sorry all,
I found them, the iPhoto Lib some how ( me ) got put inside a newly created iPhoto Lib package, and it's not 400GM just 23GB for 11,000 photos.
And now I see that using the Option Key is the way to switch libraries.
Thanks and sorry, I just got all excited thinking I lost all those photos.

  • Iphoto lost my original files

I have several folders in iPhoto, the one in question, I have opened several times, and have edited some photos. For reason unknown, I tried to open, and enlarge a photo to full screen image to view it, and I suddenly could not. I got a warning that iPhoto could not locate the original file. I neither deleted or anything else with these files other than some editing, they are recent pics.I can still share the pics in iPhoto, but can no longer open the files to full image to view. My concern is that iPhoto lost my originals, and it could happen to my other folders. I did backup my photos, but when I redownload to iPhoto, I get the same warning of "original files lost"? What can I do to fing the originals on my MAC book, and how to prevent in the future?

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

    what is WP files?
You want to always use iPhoto with a default referenced library (the preference to copy imported item to the iPhoto library is checked) ad then delete the source photos

  • I have lost some of my bookshelfs after the last update!

I have lost some of my bookshelfs after the last update and cannot create a new one. How can I fix it? I don't have them on my PC so I can't synchronize them. What can I do? Pretty dissapointed right now!

If the contact were added after the backup was made they will not be in the backup. If your contacts were synced with iCloud they may be there. If so they will apear shortly on your new phone.

You really should be doing backups with an actual backup application, especially one that will work automatically, and, if your external HD is large enough, back up your entire system.  These can automatically back up only what's changed since the  previous backup, and some will keep "archive" copies of things you've changed or deleted, also.
Too many things can go wrong, such as your internal HD failing, and you'll have a major project to reinstall everything.
You already have Time Machine, built-in to OSX.  You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
#27 in the second link mentions some alternatives, too.

  • I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

Hello. First time using this. Still trying to figure out how to post my questions. I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

If you are using cable and a Nethear router sounds like from the information you provide before your Airport setting are setup improperly. PPoE is not something a cable service would need to work. Fallow the steps I will provide bellow, I will add some screen shots also to assist if necessary.
1 - Open System Preferences from  (Menu)
    2 - Click "Network"
3 - From the Network window you are going to wanna make sure Location is : Automatic and Show is : Airport
4 - Once the Show: Airport is select you should see a window like this, my window is selected for Ethernet simply because I am no longer running Tiger but the window will look the same.
5 - You will want to click on the PPPoE tab and you should see this
6 - You're gonna wanna make sure " connection using PPPoE " is not select, if it is make sure to uncheck this option
7 - Once this is uncheck make sure to click "Apply Now"
8 - You will want to click back on to the "TCP/IP" tab and make sure IPv4 is set to " Using DHCP "
9 - If the option to " Apply Now" is available again please click this
10 - Once this is done go to your Aiport Menu and see if your network is listed and select your network and eneter the password if necessary.
11 - If after these steps you still have issues I would recommend Power Cylcing your Router and Modem for about 5 minutes
12 - Make sure all lights are off when unplugging the Router and the Modem
13 - Some Modems have backup batterys so you may have to push in a tiny button on the back with a pin

  • Lost some of my purchases how can I get them back?

Hi I have lost some of my purchasesd when I had to format my hard drives and lost most of my music. I hadn't backed up my itunes library, which I will do as a matter of course from now one, but is there a way I can download some of the itunes I have previously purchased again without having to pay for them again?
    thanks in advance

If you are in the U.S., then use the cloud:
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/
Otherwise, you can transfer them from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases
    Backup is very important.
