IPhoto 6 publish photo's to .Mac?

My nephew in Iraq (Army) is using the new Mac Book I sent him and can't figure out how to upload photo's form iPhoto to his .Mac account.
I sent him screen shot instructions but I only have iPhoto 5, not the latest.
I believe he now is required to use iWeb but I did not purchase that.
Can someone supply directions that I can forward to him?
Why would they move it from a one button on the bottom of the screen to a multi-step process?

From iPhoto's help guide:
To share a slideshow over the Internet:
Select the photos you want in your slideshow. (You must select photos individually. For example, to select an entire album, select the album in the Source list, then choose Edit > Select All.)
Choose Share > .Mac Slides.
Click Publish.
After your photos have been copied to your iDisk, click the Announce Slideshow button to tell other users how to view your slideshow.

  • Managing Photos from multiple sources to iPhoto '11 Photo Stream on Mac.

I combined photos from multiple sources (camera, desktop, iPhone) to iPhoto '11 on Mac.  I determined keeper photos and put them in Event.  I also rated and flagged the keeper photos.  I want to delete the rest of photos from Photo Stream but can't see rating/flag so I can't determine which ones to delete.
This is basic file management but not finding a solution.  Suggestions?

The Photo Stream is designed to push your images into the cloud the moment they are taken. It does not (yet) support to show the ratings and most of the tags.
If you have an event with all photos you want to keep, the easiest way would be to delete all photos from the Photo Stream (on all your IOS devices) and then add only your selected "keeper" images to the Photo Stream again.

    Léonie
Added: It is not safe to rely on the Photo Stream for storage, since it will only keep a snapshot of currently added photos - the last month's photos or the last 1000 photos. You have have no control over the sorting of photos in the stream or how long they will be kept. The Photo Stream is a means of sharing, not of storing images. I prefer to use "Shared Photo Streams" for more permanent photo selections. These will show exactly the selection of images I add to them, and they are not automatically erased after a month.

  • Yosemite did not update iPhoto to Photos on my Mac.

I updated to Yosemite and iPhoto did not turn into Photos. It's just crossed out in the menu. Photos is not in my app menu. So I can't look at any of my pictures.

Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.

  • IPhoto 11: how to reveal shared/published photos in bulk?

How can I reveal, easily and quickly, which photos... out of thousands... have been shared/published?
The only place I can find that info is in the side bar, but publication information appears for only one photo at a time. I have to go through my libraries in bulk.
I have a couple massive iPhoto 11 libraries (+35,000 photos and videos, in each) on two Macs.
(I have a couple of young kids... there are a lot of family photos.)
These libraries each exceed 300 gb, and the computers are groaning under the weight... at this point, iPhoto isn't performing any better than iTunes.
I have back ups, but I want to reduce these libraries to managable sizes... once.
Because iPhotos syncs with flickr and facebook, I don't want to accidentally delete shared/published photos.
At the moment, my working solution is a smart list that excludes renamed and edited photos, and renaming unwanted photos to easily identify and delete in bulk, but it's not a perfect solution.
    Many thanks.

There is no easy way do do what you want. Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
Rather than renameing those photos bound for the Trash bin try using a keyword or flag them. Adding a keyword to multiple photos at one time is rather easy:  select the photos, type Command+K to bring up the Keyword pane and click on the keyword you want to add.
I don't know what success you've had in deleting large qualtities of photos at one time but be aware many have problems with large deletions.  The general reponse to those that do is to delete is batches of 100-200 at a time. Just a heads up.

I used migration to send photos form my Mac Book to my I Mac now i get an error message "iPhoto can not be opened because of a problem"  Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Max OSX.  You may need to install any available updates or reinstall IPhoto.
I tried installing Iphoto it said it was downloaded successfully. I still get the error messafe, and can not open any photos of program,  any suggestions?

What version of iPhoto do you have on the Macbook and on the iMac? What systems are you running on the Macbook and on the iMac?
Does the message only refer to "a problem" or does it specify what it is?

    Thanks for your reply
    I solved my problem,
Definitely a bug in syncing through itunes.
    - Connect Iphone with MacBook Pro through USB
    - Go to iphone on itunes, photos, deselect photo synchronization.
    - Sync (all pics will be removed from iphone)
    - Close itunes, iphoto, disconnect iphone
    - Select in finder: (home)-pictures-iphoto library.
    - Sec click on iphoto library and choose "show package contents"
    - Delete iPod Photo Cache
    - Close finder
    - Empty trash
    - Reconnect iphone
    - Allow photo synchronization again and everything works smooth.
After this, changes made in iphoto are instantaneously reflected in iphone photos.
Once every hundred photos, one gets detached from iphoto and then changes are no longer reflected (buggy) :-(
In this case I erase the photo in iphoto, sync, go back to iphoto trash, reestablish the photo from the trash and sync again.
Hope this improves. Still have to try cloud though.
    Thanks

There's a system component that 's missing that Photos is trying to use.  You'll need to boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and reinstall the system.

Is there a way I can stop
    this ?
No, Photo Stream is syncing with iCloud. The most recent 1000 photos in iCloud will be buffered on your mac, even if you do not import them to your photo library, if you enable My Photo Stream.
See this link:   iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.

  • Updated to OS X 10.9.2 and now says iPhoto not compatible and all photos from My Mac have disappeared.  What's the problem and how do I get them back?

Just updated to OSX 10.9.2 at invitation of Apple, but find I now have no access to iphoto and all prior photos in my Mac are gone.  It says iphoto isn't compatible with this version.  All other prior documents, podcasts, music etc is intact.  Where are the photos?

iPhoto versions older than 9.5 are incompatible with Mavericks. Version 9 or later should be eligible for a free upgrade to the current version in the App Store. Versions older than 9 will need a paid upgrade.

  • IPhoto 9 does not show any photo of old Mac Mini's iPhoto 7 library

I'm trying to migrate an 80GB iPhoto library from my old Mac Mini to a new iMac. The old Mac Mini has iPhoto version 7. The new iMac iPhoto 9.
When I copied the complete library, iPhoto does not show any photos. How can I fix this? I already tried:
Using iPhoto Library Upgrader – however it shows: Your library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
Using iPhoto's rebuilding etc functions on both Macs – this does not do the trick
Using iPhoto Library Manager – also shows 0 photo and rebuilding does not work.
    Anybody knows a solution?
    Thanks!

    Doesn't work :
It is also quite strange that iPhoto just opens the library without any warnings, but without showing any of the content (photos, albums, etc.)

  • Tried to copy my iphoto library from my old mac and I get 7 times more photos???

I had under 5,000 photos in my old iPhoto library on my old mac pro desktop.
After I tried to import the old library into my new iPhoto library (on my new mac i7 running Mavericks), iPhoto ended up with over 35,000 photos.
iPhoto was literally creating events for single photos when the old iPhoto library never had such events. I already tried doing a search in this forum and googling but didn't come across a similar issue. The names of the events were gibberish as in the names of folders you would see if you controlled clicked and selected "show package contents" and drilled way down.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Sounds like you imported the library into iPhoto on the new machine.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

I successfully synched photos from my mac book iphoto to my new iphone 5 (icloud did not do the job).  Now these photos appear on my phone in three places--iphoto app, last import, and photo library.  Does that mean that they take up three times the memory?  Will that affect iCloud?  Sorry for the end-user questions!!

HHi, thank you for the reply. I have checked my iPad and iPhone and neither has iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled. Turned off in both. Photostream is turned on.
i tried to sort it out  by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated.

  • I recently migrated to a new mac. in iphoto, some photos have a small flag on the upper left of the photo. any idea what that is?

i recently migrated to a new mac. in iphoto, some photos have a small flag on the upper left of the photo. any idea what that is?

That's called Flagging. It's a way to make a quick selection of photos. For instance if you're looking for the best shot to print you might go through the photos and flag candidates for further inspection. Then clicking on the Flagged Section on the left, you can see these selected photos together. You can remove flags by clicking on them, if you mouse over a shot you'll see the option to add a flag by clicking. This can also be done in the Photos menu.

absolutely no idea sicne you provide no information

Maybe if you provided some information including versions of iPhhoto and of the OS, details of exactly what you are doing, details of whathappens that keeps you from connection
