IPhoto 6 Slideshow DVD

Greetings, I'm working on making a slideshow in iPhoto for a friends wedding. So far I've been able to create the slideshow and export it to iDVD.
Those DVD creations are going to be given to the parents after the wedding, but my question for you is this. How can I create a DVD of my slideshow so that the film repeats over and over constantly?
The slideshow is whereabouts of 6:00 in length and I've been told to have it play for about thirty, prior to the ceremony.
Thank you very much in advance,
Mike

In the Map area there's an area at the very left of the window that if you drag your slideshow into it will play automatically when the DVD is put into a player.
After it in that area go to the Advanced menu and select the Loop Movie option. That will get you what you want.
Do you Twango?

  • Extract Photos from iPhoto Slideshow DVD

I made a DVD via iPhoto for someone for the purpose of viewing pictures without actually having possession them, and I heard they found a way to get the pictures off.
Is this true, or was the iPhoto slideshow made incorrectly?
    Thanks,

    Coincidentally I just saw this:
If you play the slideshow DVD with VLC (Video LAN Client)
<http://www.videolan.org> you can use the "Snapshot" command (Command-Option-S) in the "Video" menu to generate a file from each slide. The resolution will only be about 640 x 480

  • IPhoto Slideshow & DVD-ROM

If I create a slideshow in iPhoto & import to iDVD, can I add the imported images from the slideshow to DVD-ROM

    Thanks for the quick reply. That's great. What's the advantage to Share to Full Quality Quicktime vs Choosing the slideshow from iDVD>Media>Movies. Also;
    1) This may be obvious, but my iDVD Project is 3.4 of 4.2 GB, without the slideshow. Is that the total space available for the slideshow
    2) I just noticed that my iMovie project was 59:38:17. It's now, in iDVD, 62:27. Is that because I have Motion on & will that extra time hurt the "Best Performance" encoding.

  • '08 iPhoto slideshow dvd

I am new to Macs and iPhoto, so have a lot to learn. I have put together a slideshow with music and would like to burn a DVD. However, the screen says that the music will play only on certain machines. Does that mean only the computers I have on my iTune list will allow the music to play? If that is true, how do I get music that will play?

This is part of the Apple DRM (digital Rights Management) and only applies to music purchased from the iTunes store that has DRM attached - music loaded form CDs or that comes from other sources with no DRM or purchased from the iTunes store without DRM will not have this message
I do not use DRM music for slide shows but I believe that I have read on these forums that in spite of this message the music will still play - give it a try

I am trying to burn DVDs from iPhoto slideshows.  My pictures number in the hundreds and we know that iPhoto captures 99 and then "starts over".  This plays fine from the Mac Book but glitches arise on the DVD when playing it on a DVD player.  Any suggestions on how to overcome the 99 "Chapter limitation" that IPhoto has?  Has anyone heard or tried an app called Vilisoft?  I read good things but I am not sure if it will do what I want.
    Jim

Then use multipel 99 picture slideshows.
You can have up to 8 or 9 slideshows per menu.  If you add a sub menu reduce that by 1 and add 8 more to the sub menu.  The top menu can have links to up to 8 or so submenus (depends on the theme) and each submenu can have up to 8 or so slideshows.
However, converting a very large slideshow to a QT movie as Terence suggested does not envoke the 99 slide limit in iDVD.  It just becomes a single video/movie file.  So you should not have a problem with exporting at the large size, 720 x 540,
and dragging the resulting file into the iDVD menu being sure to avoid any drop zones.

  • Putting an iPhoto slideshow on DVD with Toast

    Hello
I have a LaCie DVD burner, bought from the Apple shop in London with Toast Titanium 6. I want to save an iPhoto slideshow to DVD. Problem is, every time I try to drag a song from the Finder to Toast, I get the message that I do not have a valid Jam license.
Can anyone please explain this to me? I am wondering if the Apple shop may have sold me the wrong product for my iBook!
    Thanks...

PS. I can now get both slide-show and music on the DVD but can't play them simulteneously.
Thanks to anyone who can advise..

  • Converting iPhoto slideshow to DVD

I have created a slideshow in iPhoto consisting of appproximatly 150 images. I have used the ability to set the display time for each image to coordinate the images with the audio. Playing the resulting slideshow in iPhoto is great. I want to convert this slideshow to a DVD. Using the "Send to iDVD" option, the slideshow is first converted to a QuickTime .mov file and then automatically imported to a iDVD project, which is a nice feature. The problem is that during the conversion to QuickTime, the images and audio become 'out of sync'. Specifically the images progress slightly faster in QuickTime than in iPhoto. The slideshow, for my purposes, becomes degraded because of this anomaly. I am using the latest versions of iPhoto and QuickTime as of this writing (07/29/06).
Is there a way to compensate for QuickTime changing the display times of the images? If not, are there third party software applications (Adobe?) that can take an iPhoto slideshow and convert to DVD without having to go through QuickTime?

  • Creating DVD from iPhoto Slideshow with music

I'm trying to create a DVD of a slideshow with music that was created previously in iPhoto and then "Shared with iDVD". The .m4v file located in Pictures> iPhoto Slideshows is not accessible in iDVD. The only way I can make it work is to spend the hour or so required to start from scratch by clicking "Share with iDVD" from an open iPhoto slideshow, thus creating a .m4v file and then going directly to the iDVD menu that's automatically opened at the end of the "Share with iDVD" process. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums.
When I'm going from iPhoto to iDVD with a slideshow, I get good results by Exporting from iPhoto to a large-sized Quicktime movie. I can preview the video and music, and if I'm happy, I can then just drop the Quicktime file onto the iDVD menu area (not into a drop zone, that's just eye candy). It's been a reliable process for me.

  • Burning an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD

How can I burn an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD?  I have created a slideshow with music but cannot determine how to burn it to a DVD.  I've tried to use iDVD but cannot figure it out.  I need very basic instructions, please.
    Thank you!

Depends on information you do not supply - but burn a slide show to DVD export it to the desktop as a QuickTime movie and the using the finder burn it to dial - it can be played on any device that can play QuickTime
To play on a DVD player it must be authored which requires iDVD or other authoring software like Toast - neither involves iPhoto - there is a iDVD forum and Toast has a support forum

  • How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?

If you MacBook Pro came with Lion preinstalled then you will not have a copy of iDVD.  That's because iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple and is not longer being included in iLife.
You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com: iLive 11.
If you do have Lion this post will self destruct in 10, 9, 8... seconds and you can follow Terence's directionsl
    As for iDVD the following is a recommended workflow to follow;
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

how do I burn an iphoto slideshow onto a DVD? and a blueraycompatable DVD?

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
    Other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate
As for Bluray you'll need an app (and a burner) that can create that format.

How do I extract an iphoto slideshow on my MAC so it can be run on a standard DVD player?

A direct way with the correct movie size would be to use the Share ➙ iDVD menu in iPhoto.  That creates the movie file of the slideshow and automatically opens iDVD and adds the movie to the menu.
I suggest you use this workflow in iDVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

  • How do you burn an iPhoto slideshow onto dvd?

I am trying to burn an iPhoto slideshow onto DVD - any tips? Thanks!

If you want to create a video DVD that will play on a set top DVD player to your TV read the following:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
