Iphoto 7.1.5 greyed out on install disk

Hi
My iphone pix were coming up blank on the iphoto (7.1.5) app. I attempted an upgrade, but that didn't work, so moved on to an erase/reinstall from the original Tiger install disks. Strangely the iphoto app is greyed out and the install option column shows "skip".
Thanks
dc

Use Pacifist to install it, or move everything in the /Library/Receipts/ folder related to it to the desktop and try again.

hi, i have tryed to install os x leopard, (its a old imac) , disk utility is greyed out , my install dvd cant find any hdd to install on , my only way to format and configure is through terminal but dont know what commands to execute...

when i click the apple in the top left corner the whole menu is greyed out... what to do ?  help me please
    Sincerly AppleNoob92
p.s i have no experience in apple imac's at all never used before, but im kinda windows nerd so computers i understand but this imac make my insane, cant seem to find any solutions anywhere on the WWW....

Your HD may be crashed, so you probably should use the oringinal install discs to run Apple Hardware Test in extended mode. If error codes appear this confirms a hardware failure. In addition you cannnot repair the HD using Disk Utility from the startup disk, you have to use the origninal Install discs that shipped with the computer or the most up-to-date version of OS X on a disc that you have.

  • What is the meaning, or significance, of the greyed out word "installed" next to the iBooks app icon in the iTunes list of apps on my new iPhone6, or slightly older iPad mini, retina display?

What is the meaning, or significance, of the greyed out word “installed” next to the iBooks app icon in the iTunes lists of apps on my new iPhone6, or slightly older iPad mini, retina display?  Both devices have iOS8.0.2 installed.  Both are having problems downloading some books that had been purchased previously for other devices.  And, before installing iOS8, the full list of had been downloaded to the iPad mini with iOS7.
Finding out what the greyed outness means may help me figure out how to get all my books loaded on both devices.  Any suggestions how to do that also would be appreciated.

Thank you.  Your explanation of why the word "installed" is greyed out makes sense.  But that raises the further question of why then is it shown at all.  There are other apps on both devices that can not be removed, and they are just not shown.  This is the only app that has the greyed out "install" notation.  All of the other apps shown are either identified by "remove" meaning it is installed and can be removed; "install" meaning it is not installed but can be; or "update" meaning it has been replaced by a more current version which can be installed.
All of the books that I want to install have been on an iPhone4 that was replaced by the iPhone6, and were on the iPad Mini with iOS7 before iOS8 was installed.  Installation of iOS8 on the iPad removed all of the books and only a few of them were later added by syncing with iTunes.  Since most of the books I am interested in are free or of small cost, I would be happy to delete all of them from iTunes and then reinstall the ones I want directly on the devices.  But I have not been able to delete them and when I try to install them on a device I am told that they already have been downloaded.  Very frustrating.

  • Wi-Fi greyed out after installing iOS 7

So I installed iOS 7 and after few hours my Wi-Fi turned grey , I got this iPhone 1 month ago , the thing is , the bluetooth is still working so the Wi-Fi chip must be working right ?
    Hope I can get help.
Note : I heard there is a blow dryer solution to this , do you think it's safe and if yes , how should I do it ?

The exact same thing happened to my 4s when I upgraded to iOS 6.0, almost right after I updated my WiFi greyed out. I took it to an Apple store and they swore up and down it was a hardware issue and that since my phone was 5 days out of warranty I couldn't get a replacement. I took it home and the next update or two fixed it so it was NOT a hardware issue, it was the iOS. If it suddenly crapped out on you after updating I would bet it's the same thing.
I don't understand why Apple can't field test these a little before mass release, it makes them look sloppy.

  • Unable to share slideshows in iPhoto, share option all greyed out except for email and iCloud

    iPhoto version 9.6
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
Completed a slideshow share 11/28 via iPhoto to Facebook
Created a new slideshow to upload to fb msg users however all fields in Share were greyed out except for email.
While working with Apple support and waiting on them I went into iCloud preferences and unchecked a share with selected users and found then that under share iCloud now appears along with email however all other options for sharing are still greyed out.
Please help as support is saying that is the way iPhoto now works
    Thank You, Theresa

Export the slideshow and that makes a movie of it.
    Upload that to Facebook.

  • .ipa file will install in iTunes and copy to iPhone or iPad but shows as greyed out with "installing" or "waiting" underneath.

    Hey All:
I have an .ipa file that is legit and "signed" (at least I think so) but for some reason will not work on any device. I basically drag the .ipa file into itunes app section and it will show there as a working app.
I select the button that says "install" so that when it syncs it puts it on my ipad or iphone. Once I move over to the iphone or ipad the icon is greyed out with the words waiting or installing under the icon.
Waiting for a half a day at one point before I finally gave up and deleted it from my devices.
Can someone point me in a direction as to what I might be doing wrong? The only thing I can think is that its' not io7.1 compatable but that is all I got.
    Thanks
    Paul

I am assuming you where generating the .ipa file using a UniversalDistribution  Provisioning Profile with an iOS Developer Enterprise Account. If so I had the same problem - turned out it was a Certificate issue - what worked for me was when creating the Certificate which I did manually using Keychain Access I left the Common Name field blank and the .ipa installed properly on my devices. Hope this helps.

  • Songs greyed out after hard disk failure

    Hi,
I've been looking though the many, many () posts on here regarding songs greyed out and unplayable but none seem to match my exact problem.
I recent had the hard-disk fail on my macbook so, as a temporary mesasure I had to use a smaller, spare hard-disk I had lying around until I could buy a replacement.
Having de-clutered my life some time ago from keeping my music on CDs I had a lot of music on my phone which I didn't want to lose. I downloaded iExplorer and attempted to move my music across however a lot of my songs are now greyed-out on my iPhone and do not appear on iExplorer.
    Did I lose everything?

    Many thanks!
Your advice pushed me to reinstall.
I entered the licencing info from a popup that appeared after launching LR5 and just did what required. It worked just ok!
At first installation, I closed the popup with the idea to check my LR-Photo-archive in first step. Once I could check that all my pictures were ok, I entered manually the licence data from <help> + <LR registration>; registration steps and program behaviour were slightly different and were unsuccessful each time I tried.
I have to tell that my current LR5 licence is issued from upgrade from LR4... may be licence number required were first previous one or I entered the bad one...
Anyway, happy that recovery and reinstalling process ran properly.
    Thank you again.

  • HELP! iPHOTO publish button is greyed out :(

I don't know what to do . . .  It just happened all of the sudden. I have version 10.6.8 . . . please help!!! I have all of my pics on my laptop and want to upload them to FB . . .
    Can anyone help me?!?!?!?!?!
    Thank you so much!

    Try the following:
1 - go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete your FB account. Close iPhoto and relaunch and add the account back.
2 - try Franchi Panchi's fix as posted in this topic: My publish button on iphoto is grey and...: Apple Support Communities
3 - a workaround of exporting the photos to the Desktop and uploading to FB with your browser.

  • Can i recover from grey screen without install disk

i done an update on my iMac OS X 10.5.8 which required a restart when it came back on it only booted to grey screen with a question mark in the centre.
    I have no install disc

If you are still on 10.5.8 probably not, however you can probably still get a replacement set of install discs from Apple. For a nominal fee they will ship them to you, all you need is a credit card and the serial number of the machine.
However before going to those lengths, try doing a Safe Restart, this might work if it's not a hardware failure. You can get instructions by clicking:

  • Iphoto greyed out when trying to upload photos to Facebook - Help!

As my title indicates, my iphoto is not accesible for uploading.  Its not just Facebook, I tried uploading pictures to Shutterfly and the same thing happens.  If I try to upload directly from iphotos none of the pictures are selectable.  If I try to go to the shared folder and select pictures and then scroll down to iphoto library, it is greyed out and unselectable.  I don't think that I have made any changes or done anything to cause this.  Please Help!  Also, I am relatively new to my mac.  I know how to get around my everyday stuff, but I'm not a die hard user that knows all of the jargon and secret key functions, so please me very specific with any help you can give.  Thank you!!!

    I had this problem too.
What I ended up doing was going into iphoto preferences deleted the facebook account I had. This did end access to the albums that I did have previously but once I did that the facebook option was not greyed out anymore. When I choose the facebook sharing option, I did have to give iphoto my facebook login info but the sharing to facebook from with iphoto works fine now.
I bet the login info for facebook in iphoto got munged. It would be great if iphoto would prompt you to correct your facebook login if it is messed up, like they do for your mail accounts without having to delete your old account.

  • DVD Rom Photos greyed out

I have burnt a disk with DVD-Rom content but I cannot access the photographs because on the disk as they are greyed out. The content folder allows me to the photos but as I say the photos are greyed out.
    The disk is DVD-RW.
    Cheers
    Steve Hill

Not 100% certain but you may have a media issue and/or burn speed issue.
Did you try making a disc image first (from the file menu)?
If not, try it and then use apple's dvd player app to test proper playback and content.
When you get ready to burn to DVD-R or DVD-RW make sure to lower the burn speed with apple's disc utilities / toast to 2x or lower.
For troubleshooting and while on this forum please use only Verbatim / Maxell.
Hope this helps but if not come on back.

  • Help!  Why is Macbook not starting, making clicking sounds, and rejecting install disk??

I was working on my Macbook (OS 10.4.11) when the screen froze.  I forced a shutdown.  When I try to power it up again, I get a blank screen (not sure if gray or blue; looks sort of in between) and hear clicking noises. Eventually, a flashing question mark appears.
I found a post on this problem that said the hard drive was looking for instructions to start up (hence the clicking noises) and an Apple article about possible solutions, <http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1440>, but none of the steps worked.
I then booted up again, inserted Install Disk 1 for Tiger, and forced a shutdown again so that I could boot up with "C" held down see if I could solve the problem from the Uilities menu on the Install Disk.  However, when I pressed the power button to start up again, the computer just spit out the Install Disk (even with "C" held down).
Can anyone tell me (1) what the problem seems to be with the computer and/or the CD drive; (2) whether a low-tech type like me might be able to fix it if I can get the Install Disk to run, or whether I just have to take it to my local Mac shop?  The computer is no longer under warranty, so getting it repaired will probably be expensive.
Thanks so much for any good advice out there!

  • Which set of MBP install disks do I use?

Over the last few years, I have purchased two 15" MacBook Pros. I also got one from my work. So I have three sets of install disks. I want to give my oldest MBP to my nephew, but I want to wipe it clean first. But how do can I figure out which Install disk to use for that particular laptop? They all look the same to me. Will using the wrong one do anything bad to the computer?
    thanks!

So I have three sets of install disks. I want to give my oldest MBP to my nephew, but I want to wipe it clean first.
You must use the System DVD that originally came w/the computer because they are machine specific.  Using the incorrect ones may damage your system. Call Apple Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775.  You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.  The staff will be able to advise you which of your 3 sets of System DVDs goes w/which MBP that you have.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html  Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

  • Whick MacBook Pro 15" install disk?

I am going mad trying to figure out which install disk I need for my work assigned MacBook Pro. My office owns a lot of macs and all the install disks have just been kept together. I have found two MacBook Pro install disks, neither of which work, but I'm not even sure if they're the right disks for my model. Anyone know how to KNOW which disk I need?
    *MacBook Pro 15"*
    Model: MacBookPro1,1
    Intel Core Duo 2GHz
    *Disk 1*
    10.5
    AHT Version 3A137
    Disk Version 1.0
    2Z691-6150-A
    *Disk 2*
    10.4.9
    AHT Version 3A124
    Disk Version 1.0
    2Z691-5974-A

    Hi,
according to this http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbookpro/stats/macbook_pro2.0.html this MBP was released in February 2006 and according to this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159 was delivered with either OSX 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 depending on the date of purchase
So neither of the install discs you mention is the right one.
EveryMac maintains a good database of all Macs and it might be a good idea to do some inventory on the office Macs and the correct OSX discs.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Trying to reinstall tiger but no install disk

i think my parents threw out my install disk when i moved. no one can find it now. is there any way to reinstall the os without a disk?

Yes, it may be the best method, it is quick and simple. (EDIT: Of course you'll have to re-install all third party software) But I would back up your entire /Users folder. There may be other information there you'll need. Make your backup before you do another thing.
i want to do this because my machine has been acting up ever since i installed about a billion fonts on it last year.
Have you tried dragging ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts folder to the desktop and restarting? (Assuming that is the folder that you installed your Fonts to)
If you re-install (after getting your new disks) don't forget to apply the 10.4.9 PPC Combo Update. And remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
    Good luck
