IPhoto 8.0.4 update from 8.0.3 now won't show images

I updated from 8.0.3, and afterwards couldn't see any images in iPhoto. After trying various suggestions... deleted iPhoto prefs, repaired library, tried creating new blank library and adding one or two images... nothing worked. When I opened iPhoto I was greeted by a blank window. If I added anything, a folder, a new event etc, all the previous images would reappear, but then iPhoto wouldn't quit, and had to be force quit.
Eventually I created a new user account, and copied my old library to that. iPhoto worked.
I then went back to my main user account, and temporarily removed ALL my user preferences, and checked iPhoto. It worked again. Noting which prefs were recreated, I've narrowed it down to the com.apple.atsserver.plist file. If I remove it iPhoto works. If I put it back (or restart, in which case it gets recreated) iPhoto stops showing the images again.
iPhoto has been working up to now with my setup, anyone has any suggestions that might help? I'm on an Intel iMac running 10.5.7.

Ok, I found the error was missing the dfont Helveticas... and also found other posts confirming that effect: "New iPhoto not working at all - blank library on startup"

  • Iphoto will not install update from 9.3.2 to 9.4.2

I have a new MacMini. Just ran updates per the App Store. iPhoto '11 will not update from 9.3.2 to 9.4.2. I've JUST gotten this Mac, and I don't have any photos loaded at all. None. I click on "Update" in App Store, and it reports "An error has occured" (LOVE the passive voice...the error just 'occured' - nobody's fault...move along...nothing to see here).
The only thing I haven't tried is deleting iPhoto and reinstalling it. Is that my only/best option?
    Thanks!

  • IPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store will not update from 9.1.5

I downloaded the iPhoto 9.2.1 update from Mac App Store.
When I try to update from 9.1.5 to 9.2.1, I get the message: "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store."
Since the Mac App Store is where I downloaded the update from, I don't know how exactly to proceed.
    Any suggestions?

    Terence and Peter,
I have iPhoto 9.1.5 which was installed on my iMac that I received November, 2011.
My wife has the 9.2.1 version of iPhoto on her MacBook Pro which she bought months before I bought my iMac.
My iPhoto library opens fine in 9.1.5 on my iMac but will not open the copy of her iPhoto library that I copied to my iMac. We have two libraries and I want the same one she has instead of two separate libraries.
I went to the Mac App Store and downloaded iPhoto9.2.1 Update.dmg to my desktop.
I then opened the .dmg and clicked on the iPhoto9.2.1Update.pkg.
The install iPhoto Update window started to open briefly before the Alert message "The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available" appeared.
I checked the MAS and found this link and this is what I downloaded: http://support.apple.com/downloads#iPhoto%209.2.1

  • I just had to reformat the external hard drive that houses my iPhoto library, then restore it from a backup. Now Time Machine is telling me my backup hard drive suddenly does not have the space to complete a backup. I also noticed when I go in to Time Mac

I just had to reformat the external hard drive that houses my iPhoto library, then restore it from a backup. Now Time Machine is telling me my backup hard drive suddenly does not have the space to complete a backup. I also noticed when I go in to Time Machine, there are only about 5 backups recorded on the ext. hard drive. There were many more before. Any idea what happened and if I have to buy a new back up hard drive?

    Hallo  Kieth ,
I am not quite ready to restore the full iphoto library , as I have days of work re - imputting titles, descriptions and enhancement . I hope that your suggestion works , as I use my Macbook basically to work with digital photography. Through time , I will need to delete my library to recover more disc space and I would hate to have to spend more time re - imputting titles and descriptions all over again .
Thanks for your interest and advice.
    regards  - Alan

  • Whenever I update from Windows 7 get error 1602, iPod shows USB connection to iTunes, but iTunes will not recognize the device. None of the Apple documentation helps.

Whenever I update from Windows 7 get error 1602, iPod shows USB connection to iTunes, but iTunes will not recognize the device. None of the Apple documentation helps. The Apple Mobile Device driver is loaded and operating. The anti-virus software and firewall are not at fault (were uninstalled, and made no difference). The iTunes on my older machine running Vista does recognize the inoperative iPod (iTunes has detetced an iPod in recovery mode) and allows me to restore the device. Can anyone help to resolve this problem on the Windows 7 PC?

So yu tried all of this:
Error 1600, 1601, 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
If you had then time for an appointment at ther Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • I updated from 10.0.9 now problems

I updated to 10.1.1 now my "reel" symbol is missing at bottom to "Show the project Library".  I started a project a few days ago and now i can't find it anywhere. Is there any way to convert back to the old version?      [email protected]

FCP X no longer has a separate project library.  Encourage you to read up on 10.1, which is pretty differrent in several respects – or at least watch a few videos.
If you don't like the new library model, you may be able to use a systems restore to get the old version if you use a back up utility. No other way that I know of.

  • ITunes updated to 7.6 and now won't run....

it said that the older version of iTunes could not be removed and now won't let me open the one that's on my computer.
it says that "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.".
i tried reinstalling it from the site and it says the same thing, it couldn't remove the older version.

I did a system restore under the accessiblity option under accesories in the start menu.
It took a very long time but it at least let me get my itunes back with no errors.
I'm not sure what the problem was but now it's working so i'm not complaining.
I'm not updating to 7.6 until I absolutelly have to. Hopefully, they will work out all the kinks before I have to update to it.
