IPhoto 8.0.4 Update released today

iPhoto 8.0.4 Update was posted today on Apple's download site. This is what is said about it:
"This update addresses a rarely encountered issue involving photos imported into a previous version that could affect overall stability, and corrects references to a few points of interest and location names that were labelled incorrectly."
Haven't installed it as yet because the servers are glacially slow and the update is large, 102MB. Current download time remaining is 34 minutes where is usually would complete in about 2-3 minutes for that size a file. It seems all of Apple's servers are having trouble lately.

Thanks Toad,
It amazes iMe how some of you figure this complex set of steps out.
In receipts, I do see Flip for Mac. No iPhoto was there.
*- iLife 09 pkg is there. Does it goes to trash as well?

  • SpeedGrade CC (7.0.1) Update released today

    Hi everyone,
The SpeedGrade CC (7.0.1) update was released today. The new version brings Mercury Transmit support for Bluefish and Matrox video I/O cards, support for 48 KHz audio output, and a number of other improvements and bug fixes.
You can read the release notes on the SpeedGrade blog here: http://adobe.ly/13YKJEY
Please post any questions about this release here, on the SpeedGrade forum where more people will see them!
    Eric

I don't think so. It depend more of Blackmagic that Adobe. This is the answer to my request at Blackmagic:
"The current version of the driver does not support Adobe SpeedGrade. This may be added in the future, however I do not have information as to whether this will be introduced"
Please, ask a request at Blackmagic.

  • Podcast app v. 2.0.1 update released today, but still not working

Several months ago, I purchased two new iOS devices and have not been able to use Podcasts on either device. I spoke with a level 2 Apple tech support specialist over the course of several days trying to resolve the issues and he eventually concluded that the bugs were in the programming and said he would pass the information along to the engineers.
After many months of being unable to use Podcasts, I was excited to see a new update for the Podcast app.  Unfortunately, it appears the major issues plaguing the app have not been addressed.
Is anyone else able to get this app to work reliably?  I try copying/syncing podcasts, and you can watch them copy over and see them displayed in iTunes, but they do not display in the Podcast app on the device.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior? Is there any procedure that will get the app working correctly? I have tried removing all podcasts, as well as removing, redownloading, reinstalling the Podcast app, but so far no good. Is there a third party app that will allow me to play podcasts under iOS 7.0.4?

I have managed to get the Podcast app to work somewhat reliably as follows. Note I haven't tried 2.0.1 yet so I don't know if they broke it further (if that's even possible) -- or perhaps they will buck the current Apple trend and actually fix something.
    1. Forget synching with iTunes -- it's completely broken. I subscribe to the podcasts on iTunes but don't download on iTunes. Subscribing on iTunes is useful because it doesn't seem to "lose" episodes the way the Podcast app does, so when the Podcast app loses episodes (discussed below) I can still see them on iTunes so I can retrieve them again.
    2. I subscribe to all my podcasts in the Podcast app. I set them to download automatically and keep all unplayed. I leave the sort and play options at the default of Sort Newest On Top and Play Oldest First.
    3. I don't use My Stations except for On-The-Go when I want to listen to episodes from different podcasts -- just add each episode to OTG in the order you want to listen to them.
    4. If I have multiple episodes of a single podcast I want to listen to, I just open it in My Podcasts and start the oldest one playing and they will play in the proper order.
    5. You can stream a podcast on iTunes -- that seems to work, and it may even remember the playback position. When I'm at home I Air Play to my Apple TV from my iPhone.
    6. The Podcast app will sometimes discard unplayed downloaded podcasts. Resetting the iPhone usually triggers this but sometimes a simple power off+on will do it as well.  To get them back, you need to open each podcast in My Podcasts and tap the Add Old Episodes. Lo and behold there are the "disappeared" podcasts still marked as unplayed. Just add each one back and it download again.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.4 release today includes Safari 5

    Hi
Safari 5 is included in the 10.6.4 update released today - available in Software Update.
If you have not installed Safari 5 and you prefer to stay with your current version of Safari, do not upgrade to 10.6.4,

OK, I have not yet installed the 10.6.4 update. I am following the advice to wait a couple of days.
Also, I am still in the process of *trying to figure out which external hard drive to buy so I can run Time Machine.*
I am now running Safari 5, fairly successfully, after the initial problem with my ISP DSL modem, which works after I changed the DSN numbers.
My question is, *since Safari 5 is working fast* (except very occasionally I can't get to a website, such as when I tried to login to this site, initially neither Firefox or Safari would get me to the login site) for me, *would it probably be "safe" to download the 10.6.4 update?*
Or should I just keep the 10.6.4 update waiting for my manual approval and wait until I get my external hard drive. I am thinking that Apple would not have made the 10.6.4 available if we Mac owners shouldn't be downloading it.

The iDVD 7.0.4 update addresses general compatibility issues and fixes an issue where iDVD is unable to add title/comment to an image in the image details list. This update is recommended for all users of iDVD version 7 and requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.
The iPhoto 8.0.3 update addresses general compatibility, improves overall stability and fixes a number of issues. Apple also released Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.6 today. This update extends RAW image compatibility to Canon EOS 500D, Canon Rebel T1i, Canon EOS Kiss Digital X3, Nikon D5000, and Olympus E-30 cameras in Aperture 2, iPhoto '08, and iPhoto '09.

I have read the posts. Deleting com.apple.iphoto in the ~/Library/Preferences?? Can't find it.
Open the finder, then go to your home folder, then Library, then Preferences. The file is in there and called com.apple.iphoto.plist. Make sure to move it to the Trash.
And Deleting the com.apple.iPhoto.plist is a *very bad idea!*
How so? It's actually not that bad, you'll just need to reset some of your iPhoto preferences which shouldn't take long. All the critical information is actually stored inside your iPhoto library and not in the preferences file.

  • Will QuickTime 7.1.5 (released TODAY) fix the ColorSync Bug?

I just read on the iDVD forum that QT 7.1.5 was released today. Sure enough, it showed up on my Software Update! Can anyone test iPhoto 6.0.5 with QT 7.1.5 on a PPC Mac to see if it corrects the color profile bug?
    or am I only dreaming?

  • I've updated Firefox today and unfortunately my previous bookmarks disappeared . how can I retrieve my previous bookmark list?

I updated Firefox today and all my previous bookmark list disappeared. I tried to use the "import and backup" tab and followed the directions of the Firefox page to backup and restore my previous bookmarks. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Could you please help me with possible advice/guidance on how to resolve this? This is the second time this happens, always when Firefox receives updates..

You appear to be using the Developer Edition / Aurora pre-release version, which creates a new Profile upon installation or update on the Aurora channel. Open '''Options > General''' and tick or untick the box at the top which says '''Allow Firefox Developer Edition and Firefox to run at the same time'''. Once you restart ''[as told to]'' you will "toggle" over to the other Profile, where your bookmarks are - ''hopefully''.
If you don't like "updates", why are you using an '''alpha-2''' version that receives an update every day?

  • IPhoto 4.0.3 update

    Hi,
The automatic upgrade of iPhoto released recently went wrong on my iBook G4 (10.3.9). The software update utility runs apparently OK (download, expand, install) but at the end of the procedure it checks again for updates and finds again the same iPhoto upgrade.
When I try to launch iPhoto I can see the "generic applications" logo and iPhoto won't launch. If I try to run it from the command line as follows /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/MacOS/iPhoto
    I get this message
2007-06-17 10:40:17.174 iPhoto[1094] Unable to load nib file: MainMenu, exiting
I have read in some forums that I should re-install iPhoto, but I don't know where the software is. Actually, iLife04 came installed with my iBook and I only have 2 Mac OS X install discs (1&2) and the "Additional Software" disc. I have found GarageBand and iDVD there, but I have no idea of where iPhoto can be.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Garjola

Hi, Garjola, and welcome to Apple Discussions. The iPhoto 4.0.3 update was actually released in August 2004, not recently. Is that the one you're referring to?
If iLife '04 came preinstalled on your Mac, it can also be reinstalled from the discs that came with the Mac — but you can't reinstall iPhoto alone; you'll have to reinstall the whole iLife bundle.

  • IPhoto 6.0.6 update won't let me burn DVDs correctly

I was backing up my photos to DVD today via iPhoto. I burned one disc before I did the 10.4.9 update and it worked fine. After I downloaded and installed the 10.4.9 & iPhoto updates I go to burn a disc and it says the Burn Failed. So, I put in the disc again. Mac OS X saw it was a blank DVD so I tried again. Still! - it won't burn!
So I try another blank DVD, and then another - each time the disc is inserted it's seen as a blank DVD. I don't understand it. It's the same brand I used before the 10.4.9 update & iPhoto and now suddenly Im having problems.
I'm guessing one of the updates (or both of them) changed something. Because now I can't backup my photos to a DVD. I tried repairing permissions and even restarting my iMac. Is anybody else having the same problem?
    I am running Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iPhoto version: 6.0.6 (322)
Here are screenshots of the different errors I get, first the one, then the other.
    http://www.stevenmatarazzo.com/images/iphoto-burn-error1.jpg
    http://www.stevenmatarazzo.com/images/iphoto-burn-error2.jpg
Any help would be wonderful, I just need to burn the last disc to complete my iPhoto backup.

Ok big update. I burned another album using iPhoto and it worked fine. Seems that this problem is not isolated to burning discs, it's isolated to copying these files all together. Something is fishy and I have no idea what's wrong.
I attempted to copy all of the 4,000 (from the album I wanted to burn originally) or so photos to my external Hard Drive. It was about to copy them when I get an error message saying "IM000914_1.JPG" is busy. That's it - it doesn't give me any options, but "OK" I click OK and the process stops. So I remove the file in question. I go to copy the photos again, bam! Another problem with a different file name. I can't understand what's going on. So at this point I re-built the Library and Thumbnail caches again. I try it again - same problem.
The similarities between the files are interesting. All were taken around 2004 and were transfered from my old iBook a while ago. They usually have a filter or were modified from the original. And all of the file names end with an underscore and a number, for example "_1.jpg" or "_2.jpg". There are no other programs that are using these file so this puzzles me why they would be in use.
If I try and copy the individual file that's "busy" it will copy fine. But if I select it as a group and try and copy, it gives me an error message and fails to copy. I wish there was a way to locate which out of the 4,000 + files are bad, but the album I have is mixed with photos from 2004 to 2005. It would be impossible to locate all of them by hand. I'm thinking maybe if I can somehow copy the files from the select album via FireWire Target disk mode maybe the files wouldn't be "In use" - but I can't think of a way to select all of the photos in the album out of iPhoto.
I'm confused and frustrated with this one, any help would be great.
The exact error message reads "The selected items cannot all be put into the same location, because at least one of them named "<filename>" is busy. [OK]
    Thanks again!

  • Anyone tried the new ARD Client just released today (2-1-2012)

Has anyone tried installing and running the new ARD Client released today, Feb. 1, 2012?  The info provided by Apple about this update seems to be kind of thin in exactly what was changed.3.5.2,  It lists only screen sharing and controlling a computer with two displays.  If you have installed it what have you found as both improved or degraded.  What OS do you have installed on your client systems?  Any changes specific to Lion or Snow Leopard?

Today I connected to a remote server running Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 and ran the updater for Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.2.
It successfully completed and I was able to re-connect. Unfortunately I can no longer "drag and drop". When I pick up an icon, for example, I cannot release it (drop). My controlling computer is running OS X 10.7.3.
I may try to revert to the earlier version of ARD if possible. This is a pretty big problem for me; so I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with this updater. It may be that a reboot will fix the problem; but I have to wait for a convenient time to reboot my server. I need to also test connecting from a 10.6.8 workstation instead of 10.7.3, as this may be a "Lion controlling Snow Leopard" issue.
Either way, I would be wary of this updater.

  • IPhoto Crashes so I updated and it still crashes

I have the latest version of iPhoto... just updated today because it was crashing out as soon as I launched it. The update had no effect.
I can create a new photo library and that works a treat with no photos in it however I would like access to my 10,000 plus photo collection that I have.
This issues has come from out of the blue...
I am not technical... Apple stuff should just work... right?
I bought new iPhoto for iCloud usage, it worked fine and now it would seem my library is not working.
Can I create a new library and import the old library in there?
HELP.. why is it not working.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a new, test library.  If you can then import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists by opening and closing the library.
If the problem does no appear with the new library then your current library is the culprit. In that case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If the above does'nt help make sure you don't have an 3ivx plugin in either the HD/Library/Quicktime or User/Library/Quicktime folders.

  • IPhoto 9.0 Not Updating (Fix Available)

Hi, if you have recently reinstalled or updated Lion to 10.7.4, and you have come across the 'iPhoto needs you to update, in order to run' message when trying iPhoto. And, if you have followed the prompts only to be faced with no software to download...
The solution is to manually update to iPhoto 9.1 and then to run the updater again. Version 9.3 will be offered and everything should be back to normal thereafter.
    Link to standalone update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1322
    Good luck.

I'm having the same issue but this fix unfortunately didn't work for me.
When I tried to install the 9.1 update, it tells me that "iPhoto Update can't be installed on this disk.  iPhoto 9.0 or later is required to install this update".   This makes no sense because I have iPhoto 9.2.3.
So I downloaded the latest version manually (9.3.2) and tried to install that.  The error I get: "iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update".
Extremely frustrating.  So neither manual package will allow me tp update.  But when I start iPhoto, it tells me the latest version is ready to be installed, go to Software Update.
The rest of iLife seems to be fine.  Software Update found an update to iMovie today and upgraded without an issue.
    Any other suggestions?
