IPhoto 9.0 Not Updating (Fix Available)

Hi, if you have recently reinstalled or updated Lion to 10.7.4, and you have come across the 'iPhoto needs you to update, in order to run' message when trying iPhoto. And, if you have followed the prompts only to be faced with no software to download...
The solution is to manually update to iPhoto 9.1 and then to run the updater again. Version 9.3 will be offered and everything should be back to normal thereafter.

I'm having the same issue but this fix unfortunately didn't work for me.
When I tried to install the 9.1 update, it tells me that "iPhoto Update can't be installed on this disk. iPhoto 9.0 or later is required to install this update". This makes no sense because I have iPhoto 9.2.3.
So I downloaded the latest version manually (9.3.2) and tried to install that. The error I get: "iPhoto 9.1 or later is required to install this update".
Extremely frustrating. So neither manual package will allow me tp update. But when I start iPhoto, it tells me the latest version is ready to be installed, go to Software Update.
The rest of iLife seems to be fine. Software Update found an update to iMovie today and upgraded without an issue.
Any other suggestions?

When using Photoshop Elements 9 as external editor my iPhoto version does not update

I am using Photoshop Elements 9 as an external editor in iPhoto V9.4.2
My photo's are Raw and they open in Elements fine for me to edit. When I go to save or exit I have problems. I get options to choose from - I am assuming that saving them as JPEG now they are edited is the best choice. However it shows me a file location where it will be saved and this is not the iPhoto libary. Even so, I save them where PSE wants to and when I go back to them in iPhoto they are not shown as edited (either in preview thumbnail or full version and regardless of which folder I look at them from). I shut iPhoto down and re-open and still they are not changed. I have watched the Adobe lesson on this and it is identical right up to the point of 'saving'. I have read other question on this and followed some advice but not getting the desired result of showing up in iPhoto still.

Are you using PSE and saving the edit as described below?
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

App Store not updating all available updates at once

I just installed Mac OS X Yosemite and the App Store shows me a few updates that are available, but I can't update all at once.
If I click the update all button nothing happens (beside some of the individual update buttons going white and a little wheel spinning for a while).
If I click update for an individual application the download starts and the software gets updated.
Has somebody a solution to this?
(Mac OS X 10.10 with German localization on a late 2010 iMac)

The OS seemed to solve the problem by very gradually rebuilding the applications database.
I left the Mac App Store open for several days Along with Activity Monitor. At the beginning of the third day, I noticed the fan running at fairly high speed. Curious about what could generate all that heat with the keyboard light off and only one unresponsive application running, I looked at Activity Monitor and discovered the CPU was running at about 58% of capacity with the App Store being mostly responsible. I shut down the App Store, which was now responsive and restarted. Amazingly, once I had restarted, the App Store was now working perfectly and had already updated all the applications on the machine with the exception of iPhoto and iMovie
It wold be nice if Apple gave us a little better visuals about applications that are doing things in the background so as to avoid panicked users.
Now I am fighting to be able to find all the iPhoto database links to files on a network server that no longer exists. It seems that, in order to keep the users access to complex distributed data, they have made it difficult to see which elements of the iPhoto database are no longer current. It wouldn't be a real problem if the OS screen saver trying to find the missing server but wasn't asking for help.

Desktop Not Updating - Used, Available

I have a problem. Why isn't my Desktop updating itself? I have a USB Flash drive connected to my iMac, which I've just deleted all the files off, and emptied the Trash. Yet the Desktop still says there's only 772MB free space on the Flash drive. Why is this?
If I go to the Dashboard and check my iStat pro widget, the widget gets it right. The widget knows that the Flash drive is empty, but Apple's official Desktop doesn't. Makes no sense to me.

What could cause iPhoto '11 to not update the count of photos in my library?

Hi folks,
I've been adding photos pretty consistently over the last few weeks, and I've noticed the number of photos in my iPhoto library never changes - see below. It's been at 14,774 photos for a number of weeks now. I just imported 17 additional photos, and the 14,774 count didn't change.
Has anyone experienced this? What is the solution to fix? What does it possibly mean, if anything?

In the iPhoto Preferences, turn off items counts and then turn them back on again.

My iPhoto Events are not updating in AppleTV.

I can see most recent photos, but the Events stop in June. I migrated from my original MacMini in June to a new iMac and that seems to be the same timeline as the latest event showing in Apple TV. Tried realigning both AppleTV (with reset) and toggling the iPhoto/iTunes settings. Any suggestions?

This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.

I too am experiencing the App Update indicating several updates are available...but none show and the Update All does not show either. I see several Apple products have this problem. Need a fix!

Can anyone yet find a problem to the Apple Update Icon showing several updates are available...but...none show to actually update....just a blank screen. I have done several reset operations, including complete reset as recommended by others, but yet the problem remains. I need a fix to this so I can update the Apps indicated. Apple needs to publish this fix PRONTO.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Does any1 hav issues with not being able to send pic from the camera roll. I've already had issues with over exposure that the new update fixed but it left me with this issue.

Since getting my iPhone 5 I've had camera issues. To start with it was over exposure, the camera was flashing too early and leaving me with dark pictures. After a failed reset I visited the apple store, where they told me it was a known problem and apple were working on a update to fix the issue and it was just a
waiting game. Once the update was available I did it immediately and the problem seemed to be fixed. I've now noticed that from the camera roll I carnt send a picture to mms. It gives me the option but the screen completely freezes after I've chosen it. The only way to access my camera roll again is to completely close the camera roll down and reopen it. The strange thing it it will let me send it as an email and upload taught to Facebook etc just not as an mms. The other strange thing is if I go to msgs and add a photo I'm successful but if I try to edit the photo I want to send 1st then I get the same issue as the camera roll. I also have issues with the shutter taking ages to open. Is anyone else havin these issue before I go back to the apple shop. A complete reset hasn't worked

Photo Stream only handles images and your videos are not uploaded or shared with other devices.
Use iPhoto to import from your device. It can bring in the videos and image files.

I scoured the web looking everywhere for a solution to this.

OSX 8.5 with Work@Home DVD media for CS6
I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually
installing from a new account, safe mode, plist everything suggested that i found did not work.
A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:
/Library/Application Supports/Adobe
They turned out to be correct, so i am passing this on, because this took far too many hours of my time.

I had this problem as well but found the soultion on another post from turingtest2 - it worked for me:
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selectingRun as Administrator.

IPhoto will not update

On a new MacBook Air with iLife’11 pre-installed, I downloaded and tried to install iPhoto Update v9.2.3. I received the following dialogue:
“The version of iPhoto on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available.”
I then signed into the App Store where it listed the iPhoto update under “Updates”. I received the following dialogue:
“This update is not available. You must have previously purchased the item being updated. Tap Buy to purchase it now.”
How does one update iPhoto under these bizarre conditions?

Make sure your iPHoto application is located in the Applications folder and not in some sub or other folder.

IPhoto 08 not updating videos deleted from iMovie 08

Been an iPhoto user for years. During that time I've accumulated hundreds of short video clips taken in the movie mode of my various still cameras. Good stuff but it's always been hard to look at them, until now. iMovie 08 makes it very simple but I've stumbled across a bug which is really troubling me.
Basically I'm using iMovie 08 to view all these short clips. Many of them are garbage so I've been deleting them. The problem is that iPhoto 08 does not know they have been removed. In the iPhoto library, the clips still show up however double clicking on them simply launches QuickTime Player and does nothing, no error, no dialog, no movie. It's as if iMovie isn't telling iPhoto that the movie has been deleted. In any case I've tried many of the rebuild options in iPhoto by launching while holding down Command+Option, none help.
Does anyone know a work around or is this the kind of thing which will hopefully be fixed in a future update?

I open up iMovie and it then imports movies from iPhoto. The problem is it is missing several videos. When I select import video it imports those missing files, so I know it's not a file format issue... Anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on how to get ALL my videos into iMovie?
iPhoto will import any file that can be played in the QT Player (i.e., that is "playback" compatible). On the other hand, iMovie '08 will only import files that it can edit -- i.e. that are "edit" compatible. (Would you really want to waste your time importing files only to find that you can't do anything with them once they are "in" the application?) Your solution is to convert non-edit compatible files to compression formats that are editable -- primarily DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264. You should also note that both audio and video content must be edit compatible. For instance, many AVI files contain M-JPEG video which can be edited along with ADPCM audio which cannot be edited and so such files will not import.
