IPhoto 9.1.5 Won't Print; Theme Problem

Running 10.6.8 and recently I became unable to print my own photos on iPhoto 9.1.5. I have done everything I can think to do. Completely reinstalled 9.1.5 from iWork's and my Time Machine using 7/13/11 content. Nothing worked. Also did the usual trash preferences and repair disk permissions. I do have iPhoto themes( Themes, Themes Common and Themes db) at HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes.
Each time I attempt to print I get this message:
"No Available Themes   There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable."
Input will be appreciated.

  • IPhoto 7.1.4 won't print

Installed iPhoto 7.1.4, but now I can't print. Sez there are no themes available. But they are in the root library Application Support folder—and the app lives in the root application folder. Copied themes into ~/Library/Application Support/iPhoto just to see and it didn't help. Tried all the usual fixes: repair permissions, restarted app and OS, etc.
MacFixIt say tI'd find a Theme folder in ~/Library/Application Support/iPhoto and to copy it to /Library/Application Support/iPhoto. But I didn't have onenthere to begin with just in ~/Library/Application Support/iPhoto.
Reloaded 7.1.3 off another machine (on vacation and don't have disk) but now it still won't print.
    Anyone have an thoughts?

    Restoring iPhoto Themes
First look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation process described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - boot into the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the iPhoto 7.1.1 updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime, 7.3.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IPhoto 6.0.6 won't print after crash

I successfully printed from my iMac (10.4.9) over my AirPort network to my Canon MP530 which is shared from my MacBook (also running 10.4.9). When I went to print another photo, iPhoto crashed. I reopened it, but whenever I would try to print a photo, the File menu in iPhoto would highlight for about 15 seconds and the beachball would spin, then nothing would happen.
I deleted the com.apple.iphoto pref from the Preferences folder, and I deleted the shared printer, but I can't even get the print dialog to display.
    Any ideas?

    Steven:
Log into another account and try from there. If you can't print from iPhoto in the other account then a reinstall of iPhoto probably is indicated. If the reinstall doesn't help, download and run the 10.4.9 COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions.
    Do you Twango?

  • I would like to know what application I should use for this specific job.  I have 6 photos in Iphoto, and I would like to print them out on one piece of paper with the title and key words showing.  Please help.

My objective is to print photos on on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper (4 per page).  I want to include the photo title and the photo key words.
I am not sure how to go about doing this.

In iPhoto, create an album with the images you want to print.
Once created, open the album and select all the images (type Command + A)
Go to the menu View and make sure Titles and Keywords are checked.
Go to the menu File > Print
    Choose Contact Sheet
In the lower right corner press the customize button
In the next window that opens, at the bottom of the window change the column slider to "2"
You should be good to go. If OK, then press Print at the bottom right corner of the window.

  • FF4 loads pdf ok but won't print them (print preview is blank) I have reverted to FF3.6.13 for now. Reinstall FF4 and try again?

I have only just discovered this problem in FF4, but it used to work ok with version 3 and earlier. For example, if I download or select a pdf file from a website it displays ok. However I cannot print it. Print preview in the "file" pull down shows a blank page. IE, Safari, Chrome Opera all work ok as expected (we have been designing a website hence all the other browsers but FF is our default) I have switched Kaspersky on and off to no avail, Windows Firewall is off

I have just gone back and forth a couple of times between FF4 and FF3 and I have found that it's the printer icon on the address bar that doesn't work in FF4. The icon prints pdfs ok in FF3. I have since discovered the transparent control bar that fades in and out near the bottom of the page. I had never seen this before. You have to get lucky to find it I guess. Right click menu and Control P works in both versions too I now discover, but I didn't know about those either because the now defunct printer icon was the obvious route to me!

  • Firefox downloads pdf files to temp, but then won't print them -- why?

Until a short while ago (5.0?), if I downloaded a pdf in Firefox, it would open in an Adobe window and I could print it. Now it tells me "C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Temp\[filename].pdf could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." I can't find a relevant preference in Firefox to change*; Acrobat and Reader are each fully functional, and if I go to that file location in Windows [7] Explorer, there is no difficulty opening it and printing it. ???
*BOTH Acrobat 9.4.5 and 10.1.0 show up as add-ons, but disabling one or the other has no effect on this problem.

The new built in pdf viewer in Firefox sometimes causes problems. It is probably worth trying the problem document printing with whatever other pdf reader you have.

  • Epsom Printer won't print / driver problems / rastertoescpII issues

Basically, I can no longer print from my iMac to my Epsom Stylus Photo RX640, even though the scanner on the same all-in-one printer works fine.
I know there have been a few posts on this print problem issue (an error message reading " /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS / rastertoescpII failed ") but my attempts at multiple fixes have all failed.  I believe this problem was triggered by Apple's last software update.  (Epson have been helpful but they swear this an Apple problem).
I have tried various combinations of:
    - removing and re-adding the printer from my printer list,
    - resetting the printer system,
    - downloading a new driver from the Epson site,
    - deleting the Epsom file (HD/Library/Printers/EPSON) and then doing Apple's Software Update to bring it back,
None have worked so far, and I've been through so many of the similar threads on Apple's Support that my head is spinning!
Can anyone recommend the right order to do these fixes in as much detail as possible?  Or maybe there's something I'm overlooking?
Many, many thanks if you can help me!

  • IPhoto won't print

This issue began a more major problem in which all of my wife's pictures disappeared. That's been solved, and the pictures are back. In order to keep that thread from becoming too long and complicated I'm reposting in this new thread the original problem.
A couple of days ago my wife did the automatic update to iPhoto 6.0.6. Following that it ceased printing on our Epson Stylus CX4200. Other programs print normally; it is only iPhoto that has a problem. I have downloaded all the latest drivers from Epson, but it hasn't helped. My own two computers also won't print from iPhoto, though I haven't updated their drivers.
    I just identified that it will print 8.5 x 11 paper, but it won't print 4 x 6 photos.
    iMac G4 + PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I didn't get any replies to this problem, but eventually I was able to figure out the fix. I'll post it here in case someone else runs into this problem.
The printer instruction manual (PDF file) explains how to delete the printer drivers and reinstall. It also explains how to delete and reinstall the program that controls the scanning function (that had also quit working). When I got through deleting and reinstalling everything worked again.
Downloading updated drivers from the company that made the printer often fixes this kind of problem, but not in this case. Reinstalling the older drivers that came with the printer did the trick.
