IPhoto 9.1 wont update after S-L install 10.6.8

Hi all,
Did a clean install of Mac OSX 10.6.3 on a Macbook Pro 13", 2.66ghz, 4gb memory. After this I did the iLife '11 install. Then I noticed all the application open, except for iPhoto 9.0, which said: "Update your iPhoto". So I have done all Apple Software updates and i have 10.6.8 running. But still iPhoto did not work.
I read on the community about a manual installing/downloading iPhoto 9.1 Update. So now I have iPhoto 9.1 and iPhoto works, but i stil cant update it any further, while I need to update iPhoto because the Mac needs to be upgrades to Mac OSX Lion also and dont want to go purchase it from App store as I have iLife.
Summary: Mac OSX 10.6.8 with all updates and iPhoto 9.1 still refuses to update to latest version. How to get iPhoto updates from Apple Software update? Maybe trigger it by downloading 9.2 iPhoto update?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

Thank you.
I see iPhoto 9.2.3 is latest version. So as long as I am on Snow Leopard I cannot see if the updates will work via Apple Software Update. Could you tell me if I will be able to update iPhoto to 9.3.x from Software Update after I move to MacOSX Lion?
I do not want to do updates manually and besides that, if I go to Lion, there are not even manual iPhoto for Lion updates as Apple uses the Mac App Store for this. So will I be able to update iPhoto in the future...?

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • Itunes wont open after trying to install 11.1.4??

iTunes will not open after trying to install 11.1.4 version ??

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Cannot Install Software Update after a Clean Install

I did a clean install of 10.5. I ran the initial Software Update and proceeded to install all the available updates including Version 10.5.4. I installed some software and later did another Software Update check. There were 2 more updates available.
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 adds support for Java SE 6
    Security Update 2008-005 (Leopard)
I rebooted the iMac as requested and the Software Update window appeared. I checked both updates and proceeded. The progress bar proceeded about 1/8 of the way with the message Installing 2 items.... Configuring Installation. This appeared to hang there and I left it running overnight. When I looked at it again, the progress bar had not moved. I then tried each one separately, still using the Software Update. Same problem only that the Java update showed the progress bar 1 / 2 the way and is hanging there.
I verified the disk and it was okay. I have used the iMac for almost 2 years and have never had a problem with the Software Update.
Here is the last entry in the install log which seems to indicate the install was done, but the Software Update Window is still there with the "Installing 1 Item" message and I cannot stop the process or force quit it.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I guess I should be careful how I word my posts.
I should have said I resolved the problem that I had. The solution to the problem was to do a manual download of the updates. That worked without a hitch and while solving the immediate problem did not help me understand why automatic updates failed to properly install the identical files.

It is a relatively new iMac purchased from Apple in early 07. Yes, it was a a Retail Version of OS X 10.5 that I purchased when I upgraded 10.4, I have seen this problem many times in Windows, but never experienced it in the almost 2 years of mac usage. I guess I am not the only one having problems as there is a similar post made several hours after mine.

  • Message about buying PAGES update after buying and installing

after buying and installing the 2014 update to PAGES, i am still getting a message to do that, in order to open older PAGES docs.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • My apps wont update after upgrading to os 6

    Hi,
After upgrading my IPhone 3GS, it will not download and install apps that need updating. Always worked before the update. Anyone else having this problem?

Spent hours last night performing a complicated restore.
at 2am I finaly got my phone restored to an earlier backup. Apple forces the phone back to IOS6 which took ages.
I saw my old notes, then they disappeared again before I could work with them or at least write them down with a pen and paper.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Surely I am not the only person who didnt sync everything with iCloud but rather relied on iTunes backup...

  • IPhoto will not update after Mountain Lion install

Installed Mountain Lion last week. Running software update results show an update available for iPhoto but iPhoto will not update to the latest version using the APP store update interface.

Have you bought it in App Store or in a disc? If you bought it in a disc, download iPhoto 9.3 and iPhoto 9.3.2. If it has been bought in App Store, delete and install iPhoto

  • Apps wont update after iOS 7.0.2 says "unable to download app".

iPad 2 just did the iOS 7.0.2 upgrade.
24 of my apps are grayed out and unable to use. I try to update all in the app store and it says, "Unable to download app. Could not be installed at this time" and gives me the option of Done or Retry.
I also cannot download new apps.
    I have tried:
    1. signing out and signing back in. credentials are correct.
    2. no restrictions are enabled.
    3. hard restart.
    4. normal powerdown.
    5. Wifi conneciton is good. verified using other streaming apps that do work.
    6. 4 gigs of room still on the ipad.
Only thing I have tried is resynching with my computer.
    Help! What should I do!?!

There must be a real solution. I am not going to randomly delete all my apps one by one hoping that by coincidence it kick starts the waiting ones... I did this in the beginning to check what was going on and it didn't help. I think it is an apple bug and apple needs to fix it. I thought this was an apple support site and not just a place where people give random hunches (sorry, I don't want to be respectless, and I appreciate your attempt to help). I don't know how to get in touch with apple.

  • My iTunes Image Wont Update After Several Weeks

So I updated my podcast image via Feedburner in mid January and I haven't seen it update it iTunes. Stitcher has already adapted, however.

  • Instagram wont update after backing with itunes

Backed up my old iphone with itunes the same day as my husband. We both have separate apple accounts and now Im trying to update my Instagram on my new phone and its asking me to enter my husbands itune account password? Will this sync our accounts? why is this happening?

I would delete the app from the phone and download it from the iTunes App Store directly to the phone with your Apple ID. The version you have was acquired by him, has his Apple ID encoded in the app and will always require his Apple ID to redownload or update.

  • How can I reinstall iPhoto?  It's crashing after a fresh install of Leopard

I ran software update and did the 10.5.1 update. The disk utility finds no problems. Created a new account and iPhoto crashes there before it finishes launching. Everything else seems to be working. Is there anyway to just reinstall iPhoto from the Leopard DVD without redoing the whole install... that takes a very long time.

    Lynn:
First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try launching iPhoto again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Safari wont open (after running system install discs)

Safari wont open at all - icon bounces once then stops
Connecting to the net has been ruled out as a problem
    All other applications are working
Does anyone know how to fix this???

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
It's possible the Safari icon in the dock either is corrupted or disconnected from the original file. Click and drag the icon off the dock to disappear in a puff of smoke. Then, go to the Applications folder, single-click on Safari and drag it to the dock. This creates a new alias file. Try Safari.
Which version of Safari is now installed in your system. Latest for OS X Tiger is 2.0.4. If you haven't upgraded Safari from that installed from the Installer disc, reapply the 10.4.10 combo update. Do not use the computer for other tasks while the Installer is running. "Repair Permissions" once the install/restart has occurred. If you have upgraded to 2.0.4, make sure you "repaired permissions".

  • Software Update simply not updating after erase and install.

Help. I have an intel imac that was recently reinstalled of the OSX after I decided to custom install. Previously, it was running on 10.5.5. I did the erase and install with the option of of selecting the MAC OS Extended (Journaled). As for the custom installation, all I did was to select only the HP printer driver, while the rest I have unchecked.
Currently, the version is 10.5.2 and I have tried to run the software updating. There is a MacOSUpdate combo 10.5.5. I have downloaded it and during installation, halfway of updating the OS, the bar just seem to hang for a long time. Now is this normal? I have waited for an hour or so and there seem no respond or any sign of the OS is being updated.
What did I do wrong? I am posting from Malaysia. Could it be an asia server problem?

did you attempt the update using  - Software Update or did you download the 10.5.5 Combo Updater?
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/
    or
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_5_ComboUpdate
By the way, that site is not working for me this morning so there may be server issues, I don't know if there are problems with the Apple servers or if my local ISP is having problems, again.
I have internet issues because I live in the country so internet service is not good. I always download the full updater before I try to install it.
Another good habit - After your install, Run Disk Utility Repair Permissions and Disk Utility Verify Disk. I run those two before and after each install or Update. Some gurus here say is it not necessary to do that, but I always do it - before and after - and I have never had an installation failure or update failure.
    Hope that helps.
