IPhoto 9.2: already imported video not recognized

Hello,
I've recently updated to iPhoto 9.2, with the previous versions I usually import photos and videos from my iPhone.
I usually connected it with the cable and importing photos and videos when prompted by iPhoto.
Previous versions of iPhoto correctly recognized already imported photos and videos and had them hidden.
After the upgrade to 9.2 it only recognizes imported photos but shows all the video in the iPhone as to be imported.
I thought about reimporting all the videos in a new event but I have a LOT of videos and I woudl prefer not to waste time and space doing so.
Did anyone experienced this? any hints on how to let iphoto recognize these videos?

Unfortunately not:(
But I have some news:
I tried to re-import ALL the videos into a new event. Then the video disappeared from the import screen.
But then I had duplicate videos: i tried deleting the newly imported videos and they showed up again in the import screen.
It seems like iPhoto cannot flag the videos as "already imported" if it doesn't find the videos in the library. But the very same videos ARE in the library: I can even search for them in the integrated search engine and they do show up.
jhgruber2 any success in sorting out this mess?

  • Iphoto videos not recognized

It appears that iMovie does not recognize videos in my iPhoto libraries that are on my external hard drive.
I am wanting to transfer all my videos to DVD now.... but over time my hard drive has been maxed out, so iPhoto libraries have been taken off year by year.  So, even now, I have all years of photos on an external drive to just leave enough space for all my videos and 2011 photos to remain on my hard drive.
Is it that my iPhoto library MUST be on my hard drive for iMovie to recognize?
I tried exporting my iPhoto movies from iPhoto to a folder on my hard drive and then import into iMovie, but it said the file type was not recognized or something along that sort.  I had gone to iMovie help and it indicated I needed to have Quicktime 7 installed... I have Quicktime 10 installed....
It isn't format because it is the same camera creating the movies in previous years and my 2011 iPhoto library.

I am having a similar problem.  I recently downloaded iLife 11 and now imovie says that my movies in iphoto are not compatible and they are not showing in imovie.  I'm using the same camera that I've used for my previous movies and it has always worked before.
I can import them one by one, but it's a long process.  I thought that the newer version was supposed to make things easier.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • SD Card videos not recognized

    This is what's happening.
Note, I was able to retrieve pictures AND videos on my SD card to my Macbook Pro before using iPhoto.
    After format,
    1. SD Card's video's are not recognized in Image Capture
    2. Videos don't show up in iPhoto.
    3. Videos are not recognized in Finder.
    4. HOWEVER, I can import the videos through iMovie (as a new project which is annoying).
    5. Also I know there are videos in the SD card because I can preview them on my camera.
    I have 2011 Macbook Pro 13'' base model 10.8.2

No, the camera does not see the card either. The camera shop experts tried their programs and could not make any progress as they could also never get the computer to acknowledge there is a card there. They are trying to find someone that can take the card apart to see if they can retrieve the data.

  • My iPhoto 2 won't import videos from my camera, only photos.

Like the title says, my iPhoto 2 won't import any videos from my Cannon SD1000 digital camera, only photos. A friend says it's because I have an old version of iPhoto, which is true, but when I looked for updates it basically told me I need to purchase a new version of iLife. What can I do about getting a newer version of iPhoto, or making it so it imports videos? It's inconvient using the softwear that came with the camera only for a few videos. Thanks, I could use any help.

    JordanFox,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Your friend is correct; iPhoto 2 does not handle video files. You'll need at least iPhoto 5 to keep videos in your library. There is no other way to get it than to purchase a copy of iLife, either version 5 or version 6. Upgrades from one version to another cost money, updates within a version (ex; 6.0 to 6.0.6) are free downloads from Apple.
Try using Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload the video clips to your Mac. You can manage them yourself in your Movies folder.
    Regards.

  • New ipod video not recognized by my computer at all

i have an ipod mini and itunes on my windows xp computer. i just bought the new ipod video that it is not recognized by my computer at all. i plug it in and the entire computer freezes. if i plug in my mini everything works fine.
i have tried updating/uninstalling my new ipod video. i am worried that if i uninstall itunes that i will lose my purchased music.
does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should do? does anyone have the same problem as me? i really want to start using my new ipod help please.

I assume you have installed the iPod driver, before connecting the 5G iPod. It is possible the device driver for the mini is different, and thus confusing your computer. The iPod driver is on the CD that came with your 5G iPod (iPod with Video)

  • Import videos not working?

    Hi,
I had to format my windows pc a while ago and ever since I installed itunes in it, I can't import videos to my library. I've tried several formats (including itunes and ipod-specific formats), I've tried updating my itunes several times, uninstalling it and installing it again, and every method of adding files (dragging, add file, etc), but nothing works. I can add music and pdf files, and I can still find my photo files, but I can't import videos, or if they're being imported, they won't show in any single library or playlist or smart playlist. I've asked my friends with the same pc and itunes version about this and they don't have any problems.
Is there any way to fix this? Am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you,

  • Found a bug! Import Video not working....

    Hi
When attempting to import a video using the plus icon in the Library tab I can select the files that I want but the window closes and nothing gets imported. I then have to go to File: Import and select the files from there. However, that process only works one time, if I delete the video files and try to import again nothing happens, either from the File menu or the Library panel.
    My configuration:
    Mac OSX 10.9.4
    32 GB RAM
    2.7 ghz 12 core Xeon E5
Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.0 Release
If you need any additional info just let me know!
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Hey Rich,
Yeah, it's an issue with our Library (this same thing can also happen with audio and image assets).
Instead of adding a folder within your composition folder that holds your video files, you could either add video files directly to the media folder that Animate generates when you import audio or video, or if there isn't a media folder yet, create one named "media" and then add your video files directly to it.
Otherwise, import video from any directory on your system outside of the Animate composition folder - when Animate imports video or audio assets, it makes a copy of them and keeps them in the media folder I mentioned previously (image assets get copied to an images folder). Any use of the video in Animate is referencing the copy in the media folder. Likewise, when you publish, we copy the same folder structure into your publish directory.

  • Imported Video not in sync with sound. Video in slow motion...

    Hello,
I am fairly new to Premiere and I wanted to spend some time playing around with it. When I import my videos, the playback is out of sync. The sound is normal but the video is in slow motion so it doesnt sync together. Am I missing something? Using Premiere Pro CS4 and filmed it on a Sony Xacti with MPEG4 AVC sequence.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve
Oh by the way, it seems to open and play just fine in any other media player

    Steve,
Glad that you got some material to practice with. That was your goal here.
Now, file conversions from compressed source material will usually not yield great quality. Unfortunately, the conversion process, unlike what some would love to believe, does not restore quality to the compressed material. It only changes some of the characteristics, but imporved quality is not one of them. Also, depending on the actual conversion program used, the quality can suffer even more. This is a fact of life in Video.
Now, when you go to get your camera, there are many great threads on many camera makes and models already posted. If you cannot find info on your considerations, post to get recommendations, based on your budget and what you wish to use the camera for. I'm not positive, but I think that the new Equipment sub-forum would be a good place to ask. Previous posts will not be there yet, but will be in the general forum. Many, but obviously not all, cameras have been discussed in length, and their pluses and minuses have been debated.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Function Module IMPORT structures not recognized in form subroutines

    Hello everyone,
Did some searching on SDN and didn't find the answer, so I apologize if this has been covered before.
Just finished my first Function Module.  It's a remote-enabled (RFC) function that will be called by XI to do some processing.  I have two components declared on the IMPORT tab, which we'll call "A" and "B".  Both "A" and "B" are defined with a user type, each of which is a simple structure of 4-5 fields each.  My Function Module also has two tables, and these are defined on the TABLES tab.
Here's my problem:  When I do a syntax check, I get an error telling me that "A" and "B" are unknown.  However, I only get this error where I reference "A" or "B" in the FORM subroutines I have declared at the end of my function.
I have my other data declarations defined globally in the "LZ...TOP" Include for my Function Module, so those don't pose a problem.  But these are my Function Module parameters, so I can't go "declare" those as I already have them defined on the appropriate tabs.
Is there a way for me to get around this error and have them recognized globally, or do I have to resort to moving the values to some globally-declared "hold" field?  I'm hesitant to have to add them as parameters passed into the FORM routines because I pretty much reference each of the fields within the structures for "A" and "B".
Thanks everyone.  Points definitely awarded for helpful answers.

    Dave,
The parameters are visible only in the main program of the function module. So, if the subroutines are directly in the main function, they you should not have a issue. But if you subroutines in an include and you are calling them in the main function, then the paramters are not visible in the subroutines. In that case you will have to hold the values in a globally declared tables.
Or you will have to pass them as parameters to Sub routines as well.

    Ravi

  • IPhoto on Snow Leopard: importing videos or photos bigger than 1GB

Hi there, I use an iPad 3 and an iPhone 5 and 4S an in all of them I seem to not be able to import photos or videos bigger than 1GB to iPhoto (pre-installed) as it will keep waiting after I import all or selected files!
    Any advice?

iPhoto has always had a problem with importing larged videos. For large videos connect the iPad/iPhone to your Mac and use Image Capture to upload them to the Desktop before importing into iPhoto.

  • Iphoto 11  - can it import video?

Can I import, view, edit and export video using iphoto 11. Its the reason I've always used Picasa because iPhoto doesn't allow this but could change if iPhoto 11 works with video taken with a stills camera.

The easiest way to find out if your camera is supported is to simply try import. The reason for this lies in the complext nature of video codecs, the fact that many cameras shoot in proprietary codecs, some shoot in multiple formats and the fact that  single file format (avi, mov etc) can contain video made with a wide variety of different codecs make it just a bit impossible to say.
Put another way: the two files: madebymycamera.avi and madebyyourcamera.avi may have the same suffix, but as they are made with different codecs may not have the same success with iPhoto.
In many cases, if an avi isn't supported, support may be added by installing Perian
Video shot in AVCHD isn't supported. You'll need iMovie for that
The iPhone 4 is definitely supported.

  • 30 GB Ipod Video not recognized by either Windows or Itunes

    Hi,
I purchased a new 30 GB iPod Video (5th generation) today to replace my old iPod photo. It's been charging for a few hours, but when I plug it into the computer there is hardly any recognition. Windows will make the "you plugged in a USB" noise but that's it. The iPod will not go into "DO NOT DISCONNECT" mode, nor will iTunes recognize the iPod.
iTunes is updated, and I tried many of the tips on the pages here. I've also tried to reset it by holding the menu and enter buttons, and it reset, but there was no recognition. I even tried toggling the hold switch back and forth a few times and I got noting.
I'm seriously perplexed, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adam

  • IPod video not recognized by iTunes after bad disconnect

I recently disconnected my iPod without ejecting it first, (disk mode is enabled), and I had done it a few times before without a problem, so I figured why not. But this time it didn't work out. All of my music, videos etc are seemingly erased from the iPod, and only one thing remains - the few notes files (song lyrics) that I had on it. The iPod is no longer recognized in iTunes.. but I suppose windows recognizes it, except it seems to treat it just as a mass storage device or something. I ran the diagnostics test here:

I can't restore it because it doesn't show up in iTunes, and I've tried all the support suggestions on the main page. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Ok, since my last post I messed around a bit more. I found that dragging the F drive that the iPod was in from windows explorer to iTunes that iTunes recognized it, but said it was corrupted. So I tried to restore it, but I got error 1418. So I reset my computer, tried restoring again, and it worked. I thought I had it figured out but iTunes says its still corrupted. I figure this is something I'm certainly going to have to send to apple to have fixed?

  • IPhone 4 videos not recognized by iMovie. How do I fix this?

I took several videos yesterday with my iPhone 4 and wanted to use iMovie (iPhone version ) to splice them together but iMovie would not recognize them even thought they were in my camera roll.
I have the latest version OS IOS and iMovie.
Any one else having this problem?

Same problem for me - if I shoot 4 movies on one day, perhaps only one movie will show as available for import, the other three will not. Seems completely random. If I delete the one movie I could see for import then I can't see any for todays date.
OS 4.3.1 and iMovie upto date. Have tried turning off and on location services and rebooting phone.
Only a problem since the recent update to iMovie.
