IPhoto 9.6 does not include photo description in export file
My system is current with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, iPhoto 9.6, Preview 8.0
The caption/description does not export from iPhoto. I have not exported files from previous iPhoto versions expecting the file to contain the iPhoto Caption/Description. This is a s/w feature that I want to use starting today and forward.
The caption/description for my test file is "Test Description". I have carried out the steps required to export the file (see below). The actual result is that the file caption/description is "EPSON scanner image" and not the expected result of "Test Description".
Is this a known problem? Any suggestions or information is appreciated.
The title has been exported, as your screenshot is showing: It has been exported as the "Title" field:
For the "description" tag click the "Tiff" tab in Preview's Inspector.
You can also see the description in the "File > Get Info" panel.

IPhoto does not show photos in my iPhone
Hi!
As the title has said, my iPhoto does not show photos from my iPhone, but it DOES recognize that iPhone is connected.
But before all of this happened, I changed my setting (which I forgot how to reset that) to NOT open iPhoto automatically when my phone is connected.
And also, a week ago, my iPhone usb cable seems to be spoiled at one end. It can still connect the phone to the laptop, but very loosely - as if some wires inside are broken.
So I really do not know if the problem I mentioned is caused by my setting OR is it because of my spoiled cable (that it could not transfer the photos from the phone)
And if it is believed that it is caused by my setting, could you please guide me on how to re-set the whole thing?

Launch iPhtoto.
In the menu, iPhoto>Preferences>General.
Change it back. -
When I import my photos from my iPhone 4S into iPhoto the location does not appear. I have to open the info button on the photo click "photo place" then "find on map" and then the location appears. How to I get the location to appear automatically when I import my photos from my iPhone?
in your iPhoto preferences is look up location set to "automaticaly"?

I migrated my SnowLeopard data to Lion, but cannot open iPhoto. When launched iPhoto tried to upgrade the database but crashes every time. Here's the log:

How to include photo descriptions in iCloud sharing?
When I share photos to iCloud, I find that the online album (stream) does not include any photo descriptions I have added in iPhoto (or any other "metadata" for that matter). As a workaround I have manually added a comment to each shared photo, with the text description being the description pasted from iPhoto, but that's a huge pain.
Has anyone found a better way to include photo descriptions in their iCloud shared photo streams?
I know iPhoto (I'm using version 9.5.1) does export this info, because if you export a photo and view its attributes in Finder, you'll see the metadata. It's pretty annoying because if you spend time adding custom titles, descriptions, tagging faces and places, it would be nice for some of this to be included in photos you're sharing with friends and family.
Thanks!I'll close this thread by mentioning the more drastic workaround I'm going with: not using iCloud for sharing when I need a lot of descriptions and other metadata. I'm planning to export from iPhoto, including title and keywords, and then post on Google+, which seems to read the metadata from the JPGs.
If you are going to export from iPhoto anyway, you can send the photos using the Photo Stream as well. When you are sharing via PhotoStream, the Photo Stream will transfer the EXIF and IPTC tags embedded in the original file. Only, there are two problems with the embedded EXIF and IPTC tags:
The way you are seeing the photos in the PhotoStream album is misleading. The Info panel in the Photo Stream view simply is not showing the tags that are embedded in the photo. The only visible metadata are the filename. You will see the embedded metadata however in the Info panel, when you import the photo from the Photo Stream album to an event.
And the Photo Stream will not add cations and titles to the shared images, that are not yet part of the original image file and only part of the edited version. But any tags embedded in the original file will transfer.
As a simple work-around to share the titles and keywords, export the images and use the titles as filenames. Then reimport and send via Photo Stream. -

Itunes does not sync photos to iPhone in yosemite
2007 iMac with Yosemite 10.2.2 and iTunes 12.1.0.50 does not sync photo's from iPhoto 9.6 (910.29) to iPhone 6 with 8.1.3.
It syncs Apps, movies, ibooks and music. All content can be viewed in respective pane.
However photo's pane shows the grey spinning ball (successor to the beach ball)
after a few minutes get error dialogue can't sync photo;s.
Have same problem with iPod touch 5, iPhone 5, iPhone 6 plus and iPod mini 2. all with os 8.1.3Hello, have you made sure that you're signed into iTunes and given authorization for your iphone 4 to sync with your computer? The same thing happened to me when I recently installed iTunes 10.5 after formatting my computer.

iWeb media browser does not load photos. iTunes and Movies panels do work however.

Spotlight search does not include map, iTunes, google...
I upgraded to yosemite from mavericks after seeing the latest feature videos from WWDC
But greatly disappointed to see so many features showcased does not work the same way as it was showcased
For example
The spotlight is not working as expected, it does not include maps, web search, photos etc., i even changed the default search engine to bing still does not work
Any idea, if i am missing something

in iPhoto 09 Info does not show tags on aperture, time, iso etc. Other tags like place, pixels are shown. There is no little arrow on this info menu to go to full info box. How come ?
It does. Photos Menu -> Show Extended Photo Information.

Terence, I was trying a way to message you directly - jumping on a recent thread seemed to be the only way (sorry, DEW45).
Terence, you seem to be the foremost expert on apeture and iphoto and have helped me many times in the past (thanks). I have a question that you may be able to help with (anyone also feel free to take a stab). I use blogger to upload my photos and host my blog (www.sippingespresso.com). I spend hours organzing and editing photos - namely, I will enhance and sometimes alter an image in Apeture. It always saves over the orginal file (at least for viewing purposes), which is fine by me. But then when I go to upload the photos onto blogger it seems to always pull my dull, original image. Obviously, I want the newer, bright, enhanced photo.
I'm one step away from importing them, dragging them out of iphoto and into Photoshop, then editing the files and dragging them back into iphoto, deleting the originals and uploading from there. There HAS to be a better way - please help!! I've already posted far too many boring images without the beauty of Apeture's "auto enhance".

GaryPhoto stream doesn't use bluetooth; only wifi. Photos added to the camera roll on your device are automatically added to photo stream when the camera app is closed, your device is connected to wifi, and it has at least 20 % battery life remaining. Also, only photos added to the camera roll after enabling photo stream are uploaded, not photos prior to enabling photo stream. If the photos appear in your my photo stream album on your iPad Mini, then they were successfully added to your photo stream.
To share them with your Mac, your Mac must be running OS X Lion (10.7.4) or higher, and you must have either iPhoto 9.2 or higher or Aperture 9.2 or higher. If you do, you must sign into your iCloud account in System Preferences>iCloud and check Photo Stream in order for the photos to automatically be added to iPhoto (or Aperture). Retina 5K w iPhoto 9.6 will not send photo to Epson XP-810 Series printer. Eternal/Infernal Beachball starts immediately and the system is frozen. Requires hard shutdown to clear and regain control of computer operation. I can export photos to my Desktop and print out of the Preview App, but that isn't really satisfactory.
I also have had an intermittent problem of not being able to send an email with pictures attached from within the iPhoto - this problem extends back to Mountain Lion days.
I have checked for Epson XP-810 Series s/w downloads both on the Epson site and the Apple App Store, and I appear to have the most current version.As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
