IPhoto 9.6 stuck on "Printing"

Using OS 10.10.2 with iPhoto 9.6.1 on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
Every time I open iPhoto the application is stuck on "Printing" a photo.  Eventually, a box appears that says I "run out of application memory" with iPhoto and Finder listed as the only 2 apps running.  I force quit iPhoto, shutdown and restart my system but when I reopen iphoto it's still stuck.  I can't seem to get out of this loop.
Any suggestions?

Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • IPhoto hangs while requesting local print

    Hello,
I am using Yosemite 10.10.2, and iPhoto 9.6.
My printer is a SELPHY CP900.
It has always worked for me (using the Share Print or File->Print as well as ⌘ + P).
But lately I get stuck on the "Spinning Beach Ball of Death" when requesting to print a photo.
Tried all the possible rebuild of the iPhoto Library (177 Gb, 33.745 Photos) using the ALT key at startup, without success.
This is the message I get in the console.
iPhoto[696]: NSProButtonCell: attempt to decode an unrecognized element (0)
    Hope someone can help.
(Also tested a new empty library, and this works ok)

Since the new library was able to print OK the problem lies with the old library.  Also since you've tried all of the First Aid options give this a try:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download the demo version of iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Iphoto won't let me print a landscape photo

iphoto won't let me print a landscape photo this is what it is doing when i go to print and it is driving me mad pleaseeee help

That means your original library is damaged and requires first aid.  Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • In iphoto, when I click on Print, the preview image it shows me is an enlarged section of my photo. I cropped the photo and checked with no restraints. Once the photo goes to Print, I can't fix it back to the way it is in iphoto.

Once the photo goes to Print, I can't fix it back to the way it is in iphoto.

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

  • Check printing "Format Payment Instructions" stuck at printing phase

    Hi,
One of our end users is complaining that he is running a Check Print Request (Format Payment Instructions), which is running since morning, though it completes within 2 minutes.
when i checked the logfile, i found that the request processing was completed successfully and the request is stuck at printing phase:
    Request log:
    Successfully executed PL/SQL.

Since morning, the request is running and log is showing the same message.
Now, the user is saying that till 2 days back, he was able to print the checks via the same printer.
Here is the log of the same request ran by the same user. This request printed the check successfully.

    Finished executing request completion options.
I verified that the printer is working fine. I was able to print the sample file from OS and also the Active User Request output.
Also, the same request if printed via other check printers, is going fine and users are able to print the check.
Also, when i checked the OPP log, i did not find any messages for this request that the XML publisher has worked on it to convert it to PDF, the desired format.
Can someone help me with this.
    thanks.

What is the application release? OS?
    - solaris sparc - 64, R12.1.1, on 2 node RAC 11g
Since morning, the request is running and log is showing the same message.
Have you tried to submit the request again?
    - Yes, more than twice.
Now, the user is saying that till 2 days back, he was able to print the checks via the same printer.
What if you submit the request as another user and print to the same printer?
    - That I have to check with the Users.
I verified that the printer is working fine. I was able to print the sample file from OS and also the Active User Request output.
Any stuck jobs in the printer queue?
    - We restarted the printer too and fired new jobs. All is fine.
Also, the same request if printed via other check printers, is going fine and users are able to print the check.
Since you are able to print the same request to some other printer, and you are able to print to the same printer from the OS/Application, then most probably this is an issue with that specific concurrent request (not concurrent program). Also, please check if you have any locks in the database (bounce the CM/Database if possible and try again).
    - CM and Database are brought down at night and then started in the morning every night. So DB and CM have been bounced twice since the issue was reported.
Hussain, how can we check the issue with Conc Request, if any.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you were updating iPhoto from the App Store, open Launchpad and click your iPhoto icon, so download should continue. If it doesn't work, restart your computer, delete iPhoto and install it again

  • Adobe Reader X stuck on "print to file"

I have a problem with Adobe Reader 10.1.0 not saving my print settings after I close it.  I am running Windows Vista and trying to print to a RICOH printer/scanner/copier machine.  I checked "Print to file" by accident once and tried to print, and now every time I open Adobe Reader and try to print something, I have to uncheck "Print to file."  It is also stuck on "Print as image."  I have tried restoring the default settings on the printer, changing the default printer, and repairing the installation.  Checking and unchecking "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" doesn't make a difference.
Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there a way to change the default so that "print to file" and "print as image" remain unchecked?  Thanks!

I just fixed this issue. Running Adobe Reader X on Win7 x64 Enterprise.
Locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\PrefsDialog and modify the key "aLastPrefsPanel" to say "Display". I found on the troubled PC it was set to "Startup"
In your cases running 10.1 the registry path may be "10.1" rather than "10.0"
    That should do the trick.

  • HP Deskjet 5568 WiFi Printer - Last page gets stuck while printing

I bought a HP Deskjet 5568 two days ago. I have printed nearly 50 pages already.
I am having a problem while printing "manually" on both sides. It prints the odd pages first from back to front. While printing the last page (the first page of the document), the printer gets stuck. The page is halfway in and the printer just stays there. If I pull out the page, the 'orange' resume light blinks; if I press it, the printing restarts.
The problem is that after it gets stuck, the printer doesn't print anything. I have to delete the print job and now I have to print the other 'even' pages myself.
Please help me. Is the paper getting stuck part of the printing process (stupid question)? I don't actually think it's getting "stuck," I think the printer doesn't allow the page to come out for some reason as the page is actually fully printed (the data is all there).
I have also noticed that this only happens while printing in "manual" two-sided mode.
Also, I can't edit the printing shortcuts in the printer control panel. If I change the paper size to A4, the next time I open the control panel, it is once again set to Letter. Why is this?

    Hi I_am_Ann,
I understand you are having an issue printing from the computer on your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 All-in-One Printer.
I do need some other information to assist you.
    The current OS installed?

  • Iphoto hangs when attempting to print photo

iphoto hangs when attempting to print photo even after rebuilding library

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Iphoto photo enlarges itself in Print

I editted a photo in iphoto and was ready to print it. But when I clicked on Print, the preview picture it showed me was not the same thing. It appeared that the photo had zoomed in on itself, so that it was enlarged and much of the photo no longer visible. I went back to edit in iphoto, and the correct image was still there. But whenever I try to print it, iphoto enlarges it excessively.

    iphoto '11, version 9.3.2.
No. I cropped it myself in iphoto.
I just went back to the picture, and now it's behaving normally. I don't know what I did to cause it or what I did to undo the action that enlarged it. ???????
    Thank you for replying.

  • IPhotos no option to select print quality

iPhotos no option to select print quality,
i keep getting poor prints, after cleaning the printer and calibrating it nothing has changed.
is there an option to select the quality of prints through iphoto?
    thanks, Ben

On the Print dialog, look for options for your printer under Presets. You will see options such as "photo on photo paper - fine" depending on your printer's available features.

My iPhoto download is stuck. To the right, there is a greyed-out "Pause" button, and to the left of that, the word "Waiting".
I tried putting the iPhoto download into the Trash (from the Applications folder) but it won't stay in the trash - just keeps popping back into the folder.
Have looked all over online and tried lots of things but no luck. I don't even know where to ask.
    Thanks
(P.S. This all happened after a disaster: My hard drive crashed while downloading Yosemite - hard drive was only six months old. Replaced hard drive and now in process of restoring things.)

Go to the LaunchPad and cancel the download - trash the iPjhtoo application and reinstall from the App store

  • Cannot connect iphoto '08 to new Epson printer

I recently bought a new Epson DX8400 printer replacing the old HP printer but when I try to print photos from iphoto it still looks to print using the old HP printer. I loaded the setup CD without any problem restarted the Mac all seemed fine until I tried to print any photos, there is a print manager for the Epson but it does not see the iphoto program.
Please help before my wife and children ask to see the great quality photographs I promised with my new printer!
    Thanks Peter

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Go into the System/Print and Fax preference pane and remove the HP printer from the list of available printers in the small window. Make sure the Epson is listed i the window. If not click on the "+" button and select your Epson model in the windows that come up. Reboot and try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
