Iphoto 9.6. wouldn't open in Yosemite. Something wrong with permissions!

I'm running Yosemite on an Note Book Pro 17" , 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and updated iphoto to 9.6.
When trying to open it, it tells me that the permissions for the library are not valid and that I have to repair permissions.
I repaired permissions with the Utility Programm and with iPhoto itself. (That possibility appears after the pop up that my permissions are not correct).
What can I do to see my 12'000 pics!!!!????

Can you give us the exact error message you get?
Where is your Library stored?

I have a similar problem, Safari cannot load a complet page. It stalls e.g. ["38 of 42"]. sometimes it will complete loading after a long wait. just as often it will never complete the page,
The same thing happens in chrome and firefox but safari on my iPad works just fine.

I couldn't find Image Capture at my first try, butI will try again. Do you inow how I can find the corrupted photo on my iPhone? Im a bit lost..
Sorry, I just noticed, I made a mistake. "Image Capture" is in the Applications folder, not Utilities. And it may have a different name on your Mac, if your system language is not English:  Look for the icon with the camera:
When Image Capture can import from your iPhone, spilt the folder with the imported photos in several small subfolders and try to import them separately to iPhoto. This way, you can identify a subset of photos with the corrupted one.
Then try to import from that small subset one by one, until you hit the culprit. And then delete that photo or video from the phone.

I bought new apple TV but it open only in the menu few channel like korean channel. I think something wrong with my my Apple TV or maybe my server because I'm in kuwait please help

Was it bought in an Apple store, as there is no product page for Apple TV in your location? If it was bought through another store make sure it was an authorized seller.
There are no apps stored on the device (except Computers and Settings), they are fed through a server and will differ depending on region. For example, there are many that are US only and some require connection to a cable provider. To change accounts and access another region you would need a valid address and credit card.

I uploaded a photo to my desk top as my screen saver and it was too big, when I tried to get back into iPhoto I couldnt, it wouldn't open, I closed it and tried again and it still will not open, can you help me?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Theres something wrong with my mac! Help! It said that it had a virus and then the browser wouldn't open! I tried to restart my computer but it wouldn't work, so I held down the power buttron. The startup screen is there but nothing else happens'!

So yesterday I went to do some work on my laptop.
My laptop is from about 2005-2006 so it's pretty knackered. Everything was going just fine but then my Avast! Security software notified me saying "VIRUS DETECTED" so I tried to go on the avast application but it wouldn't open. I tried to open my browser but the icon just bounced and stopped and them nothing happened after! So i clicked on the apple sign and clicked shut down.  Then the system wouldn't shut down. So i held down the power button causing it to shut itself off. The next day I opened the laptop and turned it on. It made the healthy turning on noise and I can hear the fan working perfectly fine. The startup screen is showing. This is an all grey screen with the Apple logo in the middle and a spinning circle in the middle, the circle has been spinning for over 10 minutes now and I do not know what to do. I use this laptop for literally everything and I cannot possibly afford to replace this . I am hearbroken as I know that there is a possibility that I will no longer be able to use this laptop.
I would be extremely grateful if someone helped me as I am truly devastated. :(

    Couple of things to try:
Restart your mac and try launch iPhoto again.
    If that fails:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a file called ‘iPhoto’Lock.data or similar. Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If not: Where is your iPhoto Library stored? If it's on an External Disk, what format is that?

  • IPhoto 9.4.1 not opening on Yosemite and no upgrade possible!

I update to Yosemite and than when  I run the iPhoto bring me to Apple store and once I do update than
I receive this "weird" message ! No update available for this ID or the iPhoto has been reimbursed or cancel.
So now I've all my picture somewhere inside my MAC but I cannot manage at least to take them out to
try to migrate to other pictures management software (see Picasa). Ot at least to have a storage somewhere.
Can someone help on the matter??? There is any physical way to get our the picture from the folder of iPhoto?
    Thanks

Have you checked, if you are signed into to the AppStore with the correct AppleID? The AppleID you used, when you originally set up your Mac? Did  iPhoto come preinstalled with MacOS X 10.7 or later, or did it come on installer disks with MacOS 10.6.8?
If iPhoto came preinstalled, check if it is showing on the "Purchased" tab of the App Store, perhaps with "accept" beside the name.  if you see it in your purchases, delete iPhoto from the Applications folder  (don't empty the Trash), reload the Purchased tab with ⌘-R and install it again.
If the above does not work:
The problem is, that the update does not work well, when you try to update directly from iPhoto iPhoto 9.4.1 to 9.6. It would have been easier, if you updated to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case contact the AppStore (from the Quick Links at the AppStore) to solve the AppleID problem. They may provide a redeem code, so you can download the update.

  • Something wrong with my iPhoto :-(

Hello - I don't know if anyone is able to help.
My file structure for iPhoto library is all over the place. I was trying to tidy it up.
Now whenever I try to open certain photos from their thumbnail in iPhoto I just get a big, blurred exclamation mark.
What have I done??! I'll be very grateful if you're able to help. Photos are so precious.

    Hi demystifyme,
I recommend posting this question in the appropriate iPhoto forum. This forum is typically reserved more for the hardware functionality (or lack thereof) for the MacBook 13-inch Aluminum (Late 2008). I think you'll probably get a better and perhaps faster answer there:

    What does "not valid" mean?
It didn't fix the problem or you couldn't boot into the Recovery HD?
If you just purchased this Mac, Call AppleCare. You should have 90 days of free support. If it is new Mac without any third-party software, then there is something wrong with it. Use the free support you have.

  • Can anyone tell me what on earth is wrong with iPhoto

I have been having this issue ever since I bought my new macbook. A Late 2011 13" Macbook Pro with Intel HD 3000 graphics. Please checkout this link below, it is a short video that shows something terribly wrong with iPhoto. I am trying to Edit pictures while all sorts of weirdness is going on with iPhoto. Recently my images are also being coruppted. I have contacted Apple care but have yet to hear from them. Their inital answer was that it seems to be a software issue. My question is that if it is a software issue then why other people are not affected by it. I am running Lion 10.7.3 and this is iPhoto 9.2.2. Everything is upto date on the Mac. If this is a software bug then its very strange its only happening to one machine.

Thanks All in Advance. Hope to get some replies from the iPhoto community.

Try this:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
I'm skeptical the above will help since trying iPhoto in a new user account would essentially do the same thing.
If that doesn't help boot into Safe Mode and try iPhoto again.  If iPhoto performs correctly in Safe Mode then reboot and try again.  If it still is messed up I think there maybe something wrong with some system components..
If iPhoto performs the same in Safe Mode then it's probably hardware related since you've reinstalled the system and iPhoto. Take it to an Apple store and have them look at it.
