IPhoto album slideshow runs backwards

iPhoto album slideshow runs backwards. Anyone any suggestions?

Use a regular slideshow created by "File > New Slideshow".  These will play manually sorted. The instant slideshows cannot be played in a manual sort order.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
are you running the slideshow from an album or the iPhoto slideshow mode?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • IPhoto 8 Slideshow runs too fast when I export

I painstakingly created a slideshow for a friend to use during her wedding rehearsal next weekend. It was created so specific photos come up during lyrical points in each song. Worked phone in iPhoto but when I exported to Quicktime so she could have the CD to use it runs differently and now the pictures are not in sync with the lyrics. Can anyone help me?

This is a know issue with iPhoto, precision audio syncing. You're best bet would be to useiMovie HD 6 to build the slideshow. With it you can have multiple audio tracks where you can add the audio, crop, fade in and out and match precisely to the photos. From there you can export to iDVD or Quicktime.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • TS2167 I am running OS X 10.8.2 and IWeb 3.0.4 (601) and everytime I try to publish my website I get an unexpected error and it does not publish my changes. My website is pretty simple, mostly made up of iPhoto albums in different categories.

I am running OS X 10.8.2 and IWeb 3.0.4 (601) and everytime I try to publish my website I get an unexpected error and it does not publish my changes. My website is pretty simple, mostly made up of iPhoto albums in different categories.

Where are you publishing to?  Can you publish successfully to a folder on your hard drive? Have you read this webpage: Publish iWeb site using FTP. It may have a clue to where the problem is.
    A quick troubleshooting fix is
    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
However, when you delete the preference file you probably will have to use the app described below to select and open your domain file with iWeb:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • HT4710 When copy my IPhoto 7.1.5 Library on my desk computer and open it on my laptop w/IPhoto'09, many albums/slideshows are lost because of compulsory "upgrade." Help!

When copy my IPhoto 7.1.5 Library from my IMac and open it on my MacBookPro, which has IPhoto'09, many albums/slideshows are lost because IPhoto '09 insists that I click on 'upgrade' before it will open the 7.1.5 Library.   Help!

The library is damaged in some way.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Exporting iphoto album to external hard drive.

    Hello,
I'm trying to export an iphoto album to an external hard drive that shows up on the left side (side bar) of finder. If I copy and paste the album, the pictures are rearranged.
Is there a way to drag and drop the album directly into the external hard drive?
Side question: Is there a way to add iphoto or imovie to the side bar of Finder under 'places'?
If there is, it seems this would be an easy way to access a specific album in iphoto and directly drag and drop it from a listing in Finder to the external hard drive listed in Finder's side bar 'devices' category.
    Thanks

    PWpw:
First, you don't need to go into the iPhoto Library package to get access to your photos for use outside of iPhoto. Read Terence Devlin's treatise on file access. It has all you need to know.
The pictures, when exported to the external HD, are viewed using the Finder and can only be viewed by title or date. If you want your photos to be in a particular order, you will need to rename them in iPhoto using the Photos->Batch Rename-Title to Text with the sequential numbering box selected. Then export them to the EHD using the File->Export->File Export menu option with the option to use the title as the new file name. You photos will then be in the order you want when viewed alphanumerically in the Finder.
It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Apple TV Screensaver stuck on Iphoto Album

I made an IPhoto album of friends pictures and set Apple TV screensaver to it. Worked fine. Now I'd like to change the screensaver's library back to IPhoto Events or Photos and can't find those libraries on Apple TV screensaver. All I get is the "friends" album. How do I get the IPhot "Events" and "Photos" libraries back?

Ok. If you just wanted to view your library manually then you would just make sure all pictures have been selected in iTunes (file - home sharing - choose photos to share). You can then view them under the Computers icon on Apple TV.
If you want to mirror, native use will require a Mac from 2011 or later, running OSX 10.8 or later. Older hardware can use 3rd party software like Airparrot. You would then just create the slideshow on your Mac and activate mirroring to display on your HDTV via Apple TV.
Note: both methods require the computer to be on. Home sharing will need iTunes to be open as well.

  • Editing iphoto Album using Pages 08

I had the issue of Mac Life that ran an editorial on how to incorporate pages with iphoto album. I THREW it out doing spring cleaning. Yes im an idiot.
So... are there any links on the web or here that can help assist me in learning how to combine the two programs to use for my benefit of making my album better?
    Thanks a million...
AND.. lol... if you happen to have a link to that issue ill gladly mow your lawn.

You can use a page or multiple pages from Pages or Keynote in iPhoto by doing a Print to PDF and selecting the Send PDF to iPhoto menu option. That will create a jpg version of each page of the document which is imported into iPhoto and can be used in an book page with a one photo per page layout, a slideshow, or any other iPhoto feautre just like any jpg file. I use it to make an iDVD slideshow of every book I create and order.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto Album updating iWeb Album page

OK .. I'm lost! I created an iWeb Album page and a new matching iPhoto album to put the photos in. Now I've added new photos to the iPhoto album and they don't show up in iWeb. There is a lot of work on the iWeb page with a lot of descriptions etc and I don't want to have to delete the page and drag in the new updated album. What am I missing? How to I sync any newly added pictures in the iPhoto album with the iWeb album?
    Thanks...

The iWeb pages don't automatically update like iPhoto Web Galleries do. You will have to add the new photos to the iWeb photo page and republish that page.
If you were using a iPhoto Web Gallery in an iWeb page then all you would have to do is click on the publish button in iPhoto and the gallery would be updated when accessed via iWeb.
It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Copying iphoto album to disc

How do I copy an iphoto album that I have put in a special sequence so I can run a slideshow?  I want to save the album to a disc:  it's my granddaughters' second birthday so it's important to me

Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.
Burn that folder to disk with the Finder

  • Can iPhoto update slideshows while they're playing?

Is it possible for iPhoto to update a slideshow while it's playing?
What I want this for is so that I can set up a smart album to add photos from the last day (for example) and display a slideshow of that album on the TV at a party. Then I can take photos on my iPhone, they'll be automatically added to the Photostream, then to the smart album I created, then played on the slideshow. That would mean that as I took photos at the party they would be displayed on the TV. It will allow us to reminisce immediately.
If that's not possible, it should be, because that would be pretty sweet.

I tried it with a smart album containing photos from the last day, setting the slideshow to repeat and shuffle the photo order. I let the slideshow run for more than half an hour, in which time is must have looped dozens of times, and took a number of photos on my iPhone, but the photos in the slideshow never changed. When I quit out of the slideshow though, the photos hadn't been added to the smart album. I had to click on the Photostream first to update it, then went back to the smart album and the photos I had taken were there.
I need a setting to make the Photostream and smart album update automatically before I can be sure that the slideshow doesn't update.

  • How do I get photos in a specific iPhoto Album into my Photo Stream?

How do I get photos in a specific iPhoto album into My Photo Stream so that I can use my Apple TV to show them in a slideshow on my TV?

That is not possible - PhotoStream has no organizational capability - no albums or other organization
With the correct software versions You can import from PS into an iPhoto event on your Mac either automatically (by setting the iPhoto preference to do that) or manually and then you can add the photos ot an iPhoto album and sync to Apple TV
what version of iPhoto do you have? Is OS X 10.7.5 correct for your OS?

  • ITunes can't see photos in iPhoto albums

    Hi everybody,
I've just got my iPad yesterday and I'm loving it.
Alas, I can't seem to sync my iPhoto albums. They display in iTunes correctly, they all have photos in (in iPhoto) but when I select them to sync across, it states that there are zero photos in the albums.
Its also the same thing with my iPhone as well. I've the 3G model and can't sync photos to that either.
    Any ideas?
I've already tried deleting the iPod cache within the iPhoto folder in the hope that it would rebuild itself.
I've also tried creating a new album, and put photos in, but iTunes can't even see this, despite restarting my computer.
It seems that iTunes is displaying the albums, but not seeing the photos at all.
If anybody could help, that would be fantastic.
    Cheers
    Adrian
PS... I'm running a new 15" MacBook Pro, with Snow Leopard, latest version of iLife, with everything clean after a full new reinstall last week.
