Iphoto album won't print

What can I do to buy an album from iphoto?  Each time I try, I get hours of the rainbow wheel of death.  I finally unplug the computer just to be able to do anything.  I let it go for over 7 hours!!  Is 30 pages too much?

Does a preview work?  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040

  • IPhoto album won't sync?

I have an iPhoto album that won't sync to my iPad2 running iOS5. My Mac is OS 10.6.8 and iPhoto is v. 8.1.2. This particular album never had an issue syncing before. I just noticed it when switching from an older iPad. I did a restore from backup of old iPad to new iPad2, not sure if that is the issue. I also tried setting up this iPad as new and running the sync, but still have issues with this one album. It will sync without error, but the album does not appear on the iPad.Other albums sync without an issue. Just noticed than iTunes shows the album as having 0 photos, while iPhoto shows it as having 62 photos. Any ideas?

The file in the Library that governs sharing is called th AlbumData.xml file in 09.
    Quit iPhoto.
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the AlbumData.xml file
Drag it to the desktop. Restart iPhoto. That will force it to regenerate the file.
Restart iTunes too and try again

  • IPhoto 11 won't print photos as cropped

I have an album of photos that I've cropped to specific sizes to fit a collage frame.  iPhoto will not print the photos as I've cropped them.  It insists on scaling (and often re-cropping) them to fit the paper I'm printing on.  How do I force iPhoto to print them as cropped?
Setting a photo size doesn't work because then iPhoto zooms in on the already cropped photo and re-crops.  It also a pain, because then I'd have to print the photos in batches, being sure that I selected all the photos I cropped to a specific size for each batch.
    Ray

First crop your photo to 3x3:
In the Print window select the paper size (in this example it's 4x6) and a custom print size of 3x3. This is what you'll get, a 3x3 photo on a 4x6 paper size.  You can select any paper size you'd like:
If you select a large paper size you can print multiple 3x3 photos on the same page:

  • IPhoto 08 won't print

Can move an image out of iPhoto and into, say, preview and print it but can't print it from iPhoto.
Trashed driver, then reinstalled it, still no joy.
Canon s300, alle Canon went thru a lot of steps, still can print from other apps but not from iPhoto.
    Help ?

Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and then try printing again. Also have you rebooted your Mac recently? If you're the type to just sleep it, rebooting can do much good.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IPhoto '09 won't print

I have HP Photosmart 8150 and iPhoto wont print. Every other application prints like, Aperture,Safari,Preview but when i try to print with iPhoto the printing process freezes at 1%.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
Next, log into another user account on your Mac and see if iPhoto can print there. If not then a reinstallation of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to first delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder, reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came on and reapply the latest updaters.

  • Iphoto albums won't sync in order on iPad

Since iOS6 came out I haven't been able to sync photo albums made in iphoto with my ipad.  I have the photo albums sorted by title in iphoto and before they would sync over to my ipad in that correct order, but now when I try to sync them over they appear in a completely different order.  So I was just wondering how I can get albums from iphoto to sync in the correct order on my ipad?

I have asked this same question numerous times at the Apple store and have not received an answer.  I worked with an Apple rep via phone for 2 hours who said I needed to wipe the (new) iPad clean and re-set up the iPad as new, with the photos and then the issue would be resolved. Not! I still have the same problem.  Events on my Mac are in date order (as the events are labeled in iPhoto) from most current to oldest.  You can imagine without the events being in order how difficult it is to find a particular event (no less a single photo) in over 14,000 photos.
By accident I did discover that the events are in chronologic order in the wall paper setting on the iPad so it is possible for this to occur on the iPad but not in iPhoto on the iPad?!?!?
Has ANYONE found a solution to this?

  • My iPhoto albums won't show in Pages 5.1 (1769)

I'm trying to insert photos from iPhoto into Pages and the list of my albums doesn't appear, just the main headings. I have over 30,000 images, so please help me with what to do to fix this. See screenshot.

What versions of Pages (5.0.1/5.1), and iPhoto are you using?
I am using the older iPhoto 9.4.3 and my iPhoto Library is in my login directory Pictures folder. I can see all of my photos via the Pages v5.1 media panel. I see indented sub-categories for Library, Events, and Albums. Specific picture subfolders appear under Events, and Albums are stored internal to the iPhoto Library (package).
If I move the iPhoto Library to a different filesystem location, either outside of Pictures, or to a sub-folder within Pictures, then Pages provides an empty media panel asking for images to be added to iPhoto or Aperture. I cannot reproduce your screenshot with my current software combination, and remain reluctant to upgrade iPhoto to the latest v9.5.1 as a test.
You may need to retreat to /Applications/iWork and a prior version of Pages (if you have it still). I have no way of knowing if the older Pages and the newest iPhoto will play nice with each other.
Using Disk Uitility (shift+command+U) to verify/repair file permissions on Pages and iPhoto may resolve this — or not.
In iPhoto Preferences > General, look at the Sources setting. Mine is unchecked which places no timeframe on showing last nn months album(s). If you are sharing photos, the Sharing panel has checks for what you share. I am not using PhotoStream.

  • Iphoto album

Any suggestions - my iPhoto Album won't upload, it gets about 10% into the 'upload' stage as just crashes.  It is quite a large album - 50 pages could this be the problem, and if so what is the approximate limit for an Album

Are you by chance speaking of an iPhoto photo book?  If so boot into safe mode and try again

You need to use a credit card with a billing address in the same country as the delivery address.  Since there's no Apple Print Store for Costa Rica I assume you're using the United States print store.  Therefore you'll need a credit card with a billing address in the US.

  • 2 things: iPhoto isn't automatically copying all my imported photos into an iPhoto album folder AND ever since i upgraded my MacBook 120GB to Snow Leopard, iTunes won't recognize my iPhone.

So i have a 120GB MacBook that's about 4 years old (just updated to Snow Leopard--been working in Iraq, i'm a little behind).
Never had a problem with it.
I also have an iPhone 4 which i've had for about a year (up-to-date software as of about a month ago).
Never had a problem with it.
I've had iTunes for years of course (up-to-date).
    Never had a problem.
    1.
Now my iTunes won't recognize my iPhone since the Snow Leopard update.
iPhoto will recognize my phone, but iTunes won't.
Went through all the preferrences and i can't find anything that isn't set properly.
iTunes Helper is used during startup.
    Everything seems fine.
    Any help?
    2.
I use a WD external hard drive to back my Mac up every week or so.
I recently realized that half of my pictures from iPhoto are not copied to the external.
    They haven't been transfering over.
So i snooped through my folders and as it turns out, iPhoto hasn't been copying the pictures i import from my iPhone to iPhoto and saving them as .jpg files in the pictures folder (or iPhoto album or whatever) like i think it's supposed to.
My pictures folder has approx half of all my pictures in it, meaning at some point (probably 2 years ago) iPhoto stopped making the file copies of my imported pictures.
    I do not know why.
No idea how to fix it.
If i were able to fix that (with your help), would all the pictures that haven't been copied automatically copy to my pictures folder once i had the issue resolved or would there be a lot of dragging and dropping?
I've been clumsily and sloppily copying all my pictures to a new folder on my desktop and manually transferring that folder to a thumb drive (which i keep in my pocket) and my external (just so i have them in some form) in case my computer crashes or a mortar shell lands on my room and blows my computer up.
Can anyone please help me with any of this?
I can't just stoll down to the Apple store to ask the Genius Bar (I'm in Baghdad) and i don't have Apple Care so no one will help me on the phone when i call Apple.
    Thanks so much.

    hey mill1640,
Did you ever get your iPhone to register with iTunes? I just upgraded as well to Snow Leopard, and my my isn't recognized at all also.
If you did get this resolved, I would appreciate a little suggestion in the right direction.
    Many thanks,
    Josh

  • RGB or CMYK colour formatting for iPhoto Albums printing.

    Hi.
I'm putting my first iPhoto Album together. Info given from Apple about what colour format to use for your photos, says to use RGB. While this is corrcet for digital monitors and screens. Mass printing uses CMYK. Any images supplied to a printers in RGB will colour shift when printed in CMYK. No matter what a printer tells you, these colour shifts can be very noticable. I'm an Advertsing Art Director and I've seen the shift that happens.
I will be checking/colour correting all photos submitted to the iPhoto Album with Adobe Photoshop. And many will very probably undergo some corrections. Be it through levels, curves, hue/saturation, etc. Nothing to anything near an excessive level, but enough to make obvious improvements.
So I will then be faced with the choice of whether to save the images out in RGB or CMYK.
Can someone with some technique knowledge, from the iPhoto team, tell me/reasure me why RGB has been specified? And if CMYK wouldn't actually be a preferable colour format to supply in, considering you'll be printing them in CMYK.
    Many Thanks, Jim.

You're absolutely correct. I was referring to notes make a number of years ago in regards to iPhoto 5  and that RGB was recommended for both books and prints.
I was confusing CMYK with Grayscale with Dot Gain 20% profile when stating iPhoto didn't support it which it didn't fully support until iPhoto 9.
In fact I just ran a test with iPhoto 6, 7 and 8 with a CMYK AND GrayScale files with the following results:
iPhoto 6 (06): wouldn't import CMYK but did GrayScale.  The grayscale file would only display as a black thumbnail and negative full image.  If the DotGain 20% profile was stipped from it the iamge would dispaly normally.
iPhoto 7 (08): wouldn't import CMYK but did GrayScale.  The grayscale file would only display as a black thumbnail and negative full image.  If the DotGain 20% profile was stipped from it the iamge would dispaly normally.
iPhoto 8 (09): neither file would import which is surprising:
iPhoto 9.2.3 (11):  both imported and viewed normally.
iPhoto 9.4 (11):  both imported and viewed normally.
In Oct, 2007 I got an email from Apple support with the following:
Also as iphoto makes a pdf of the book and then uploads it to keep the size down, it doesn't matter if the pics are RGB or CMYK as a pdf is a closed file. But since it is going through prinergy it has an RGB checker so this most be switched off. It is how the software in prinergy handle's it that causes the washed out affect as it takes the Red Green Blue colours and tries to convert to Cyan Magenta Yellow Black. Now the colour spectrum in printing between rgb and cmyk is quite different looking at a colour wheel will show you. The best way i can describe it is if you have a pantone book which has spot on one side and process on the other you can see a colour difference. Or if you use quark open up the colours and again switch between process and spot.
BUT ONLY CONVERT PICS TO CMYK IF YOU ONLY INTEND TO ORDER BOOKS. IF YOU INTEND TO ORDER PRINTS IT WILL NEED TO BE RGB.
    Here's how i see it:
    1. Apple doesn't want 2 different versions of the pics floating about as running CMYK through a photomachine (as prints you would order in the high street) will not print correctly.
    2. RGb's going through a CMYK press using prinergy will attempt to convert and produce the washed out effect, or yellowing effect BUT will still print.
So it will use the 2nd option as it will still produce prints normally and books with a slightly washed out effect. Now to most people in the high street, who will notice a difference?
I have just received my latest book saved as CMYK pics in tiff format and no washed out effect. What i will say is The quality if still not as good as a print. Now we use a docucolour 5252 at work and the colour quality is better. I wonder how often the machine is calibrated and what colour curve it is set to?
However, I am unable to import a CMYK file in any iPhoto version until iPhoto 9. Go figure.
Thanks for the feedback.  Hadn't addressed this particular subject in quite a long time.

  • IPhoto won't print

This issue began a more major problem in which all of my wife's pictures disappeared. That's been solved, and the pictures are back. In order to keep that thread from becoming too long and complicated I'm reposting in this new thread the original problem.
A couple of days ago my wife did the automatic update to iPhoto 6.0.6. Following that it ceased printing on our Epson Stylus CX4200. Other programs print normally; it is only iPhoto that has a problem. I have downloaded all the latest drivers from Epson, but it hasn't helped. My own two computers also won't print from iPhoto, though I haven't updated their drivers.
    I just identified that it will print 8.5 x 11 paper, but it won't print 4 x 6 photos.
    iMac G4 + PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I didn't get any replies to this problem, but eventually I was able to figure out the fix. I'll post it here in case someone else runs into this problem.
The printer instruction manual (PDF file) explains how to delete the printer drivers and reinstall. It also explains how to delete and reinstall the program that controls the scanning function (that had also quit working). When I got through deleting and reinstalling everything worked again.
Downloading updated drivers from the company that made the printer often fixes this kind of problem, but not in this case. Reinstalling the older drivers that came with the printer did the trick.

Anyone has print out the iPhoto album book by apple after finish editing? May I check is the quality good? I have compiled my photo album book , choosen hard cover option , 100 pages , estimated cost is US150. Not sure worth to print out or not?

All I can say is the books I've created as gifts to my children for their children were received with absolute joy and appreciation (each book chronicled in pictures  the first year of each grandchild's life). Granted the sentimental factor had a lot to do with the recipient's enjoyment of the book but they were spetacular. The book with its glossy dust cover is a very impressinve way to present your photos.
As Larry has pointed out so many have posted here that they were very satisfried with their book and Apple is very good about correcting problems.
To make sure there are no errors in the book before you order preview the book as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If the PDF file shows no errors, either in text typos (my biggest problem) or in missing photos, etc., the printed book will be error free.
